Iphoto imovie disappeared any thoughts ?
i recover my mack book pro on izone or someplace called like that before 2 month just notice that iphoto and imovie disappeared .. i didnt purchase it it come when i buy the macbook
iPhoto and iMovie are only to be found on iLife retail, or the prebundled installer discs that came with the computer on the Additional Applications installer.

I bought a used macbook that had been loaded with OSX Lion, but I can't find iPhoto or iMovie. Did they get deleted with the upgrade? How do I get them back?

If he erases his hard disk and installs Lion from a thumb drive he would lose iPhoto and iMovie. If he upgraded to 10.6 Snow Leopard first and then to 10.7 Lion he would still have iPhoto and iMovie since that way upgrades the Operating System and leaves your other applications alone. But they would be the old versions that came with 10.5. He's have to buy the iLife '11 DVD or from the App Store to get the latest ones. -
I make a lot of video's in iMovie but in the latest I have included some "Ticker " Titles that run smoothly when in iMovie but when I burn to disc with iDVD the Ticker Titles run but are shaky .This is the first time I have come across this after owning my iMac for 5 years so I am not sure if this is something new since updating which I do always when new updates come out . When I use a stationary Title there are no problems but the moving title does add a bit of class to the video.
I always rave about my iMac and loathe to tell the guy's I have a small issue .Was your workflow similar to this recommended workflow?
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If not try using it and test the disk in both DVD players. -
have crashes in all apple products (iphoto11, imovie, iworks 8) etc since a crah with mountain lion. Works in safe mode except itb will not load documents that are saved on Imac.

My App App is missing and I am no longer able to access the app store or download anything.
Which app are you talking about? The App Store? It can't be missing, it can only be hidden. Check where stedman said and if you still can't find it, you can either reset your home screen layout or use the search function.

Iphoto thumbnails disappear with each reboot
My iPhoto thumbnails disappear any time I reboot or log out of iPhoto.
I use the rebuild command and get them back, but they don't stay.
Is this a problem with iPhoto or the address where the thumbnails are stored?My iPhoto library is in the correct location on my laptop hard drive.
This all started with editing photos.
I backed up to time machine, then deleted @350 photos from a recent download.
iPhoto froze up with this, and I did a force quit.
Re opening iPhoto came back with all black thumbnails.
I option-command opened iPhoto and rebuilt the data, and the thumbnails.
The photos are there, but every time I log out of iPhoto, the thumbnails are gone again, and I have to rebuild.
So... I restored from a journaled copy of iPhoto photos, from time machine. The problem persisted.
To restore however I had to move my iPhoto library (30 Gigs) to an external hard drive because I did not have enough
room on my hard drive to restore from time machine.
The data is all there, but the thumbnails just won't persist.
I think it is haunted.

<Email Edited By Host>You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select

from the menu bar. In the search window, select

Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method. -
On iPhoto, I can no longer access the 'Classic' option which would lay out my photos on the page. It will send them as attachments only. I need the page layout for my work. Any thoughts as to why this has changed? It used to fully lay out the photos so I could add notes and detailed information before I sent them. I am thinking it is something simple that I have just missed...
The "Photos" view has been replaced by the Media Browser.
Most applications will show you the Photos icon in the Sidebar, when you need to select photos in a file chooser dialoge. Mail, Safari, the iWork apps. See Terence Devlin's User Tip: How to Access Files in iPhoto
For example, in the File > Open dialogue in Preview I am seeing this in the sidebar. -
iMovie wii no longer share with iDVD. I just upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.2 and now I can't get iDVD to work properly. Any thoughts? This is what comes up.....
iDVD does work with Yosemite although, as Kappy pointed out unsupported for 2 years, so try this basic troubleshooting fix:
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents of IDVD'S cache folder: User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you're running Mavericks or Yosemite go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
If iDVD crashes again post the first 50 lines of the crash report. Don't post a screenshot but copy and paste the actual text.
To get a movie from iMovie to iDVD it should be exported out of iMovie as 480p and added manually to iDVD. -
I am using iOS Yosemite 10.10.3. After update iMovie version 10.10.08 and OS Yosemite Recovery. iPhoto icon disappeared. I opened the Photos icon but all my images which used to be in iPhoto were not there. How do I access those images in iPhotos?
Go to Finder>Applications and open the iPhotos app.

iPhoto - When I add new photos to iPhoto from my iMac they do not appear in the "Photos" library. They do appear in Last Import. Any thoughts?
If you are seeing your photos in "Last Import", the photos are somewhere in your library. Perhaps the dates are wrong, and you do not see the photos arranged by date, where you expect them to be.
Select one of the photos on "Last Import", then ctrl-click it and select "Show in Event". That will take you to the event in event view. -

- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?

With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

am using iPhoto 11 mail and cannot add more than one recipient in the 'to' line. When I put a comma in, the recipient's address is deleted. If I use '< >' with more than one recipient the save grays out. Any thoughts?
I figured it out. I needed to fix some errors in my account information. It works fine now.

iphoto will not import my photos from my digital camera because it says it is having a problem downloading my photos. I'm using the same digital camera I have always had and have the current version of iphoto and am using snowleapord 10.6.8. Any thoughts?
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
