is the garageband, iPhoto,iMovie update free, as I have purchase mac book pro last december, I am unable to update it from app store. When I try to do so it says "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it"
I have apple ID but after signing into that account too, it does't allow to update. None of the updates for these application are show in software update of late, but it flashes in the dock where app store is . Kindly suggest.

Should be the account you registered your mac with, and/or the account you used during the setup assistant.

  • IPhoto & iMovie update not available with this Apple ID

Hi everyone - I'm at a loss as to how to fix this issue...
I'm trying to update iPhoto and iMovie from the Mac App Store but I get the following error message:
Update unavailable with this Apple ID: This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
I've read the other threads about the apps being 'linked' to previous Apple IDs so I logged out and back in with an older / previous Apple ID that I had used before but it still wouldn't allow the update to the two apps - in fact the App Store said that the older ID hadn't even been used in the App Store.
I updated my OS to Yosemite yesterday so I don't know if that's affected anything?
Really hope someone can help - it's starting to frustrate me!
    Cheers
    Neil

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
    Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
    Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, select the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
    Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
    Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
              Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.

  • Iphoto/Imovie Video problems

I am using a Casio EXILIM Card EX-S500 it is recording video in AVI (MPEG-4) Format - It shouldnt be a problem..

What am I doing wrong, and what can be done....

    janus:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you able to play the clips manually outside of iPhoto? Drag one to the desktop and try playing there. It's more likely a Quicktime issue than an iPhoto one.
Have you been able to play those clips previously? When did the problem start, with what system and iPhoto versions?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Macbook Pro and iphoto/imovie updates

I have a new macbook pro and iphoto and iMovie will not update.  The error message states that the apple id is incorrect, but it's the only one I've ever used.  How can I update?

If it's new, I'm assuming you are running Mountain lion (10.8.x)?
Either click this icon in your dock, in the launchpad, or in your Applications folder:
Go to your Purchases (you will need to sign in) and see if those apps are listed there.

  • IPhoto & iMovie Updates

I have not been able to update either of these applications since buying my MacBook Air brand new from Apple. Every time I try I get an error message saying that they were downloaded under a different Apple ID; however they were already on the computer when I purchased it and I have only ever had one Apple ID. I never pressed the issue but now that I have updated my computer I cannot use the versions I have and cannot access my photos or videos. Any suggestions?

  • Hi guys, I have a problem with my new macbook pro 15". I tried to updtate the apps (iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband), but an error was displayed "You have updates available for other accounts". I don't have other accounts!!! :(

    Hi guys,
I have a problem, I have a new macbook pro. I updated the software without problems; then I tried to update iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband, but an error was displayed "You have updates available for other accounts". I don't have any other account, i tried everything found on the net but nothing seems to work...Please help me!!!!

Same thing for me it writes "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."

  • I purchased my iMac using the same (and only) Apple ID I use to purchase apps. Third-party apps update fine, but the apps that came with my iMac (iPhoto, iMovie, etc) bring up a message saying I have to log in with the account I used to purchase them.

I used my only Apple ID to purchase my iMac (Intel-based one).  I've never been able to update core apps that came with it.  I can update third party apps I've bought (like Coda), but when I try to update Garage Band, iPhoto, iMovie and so on, a popup message appears saying "You have updates available for other accounts" and "Log in with the account you used to purchase this app in order to update it", or similar (see screenshot above).
The OS seems to get its updates fine - it's just the core apps from the App Store.
I've only ever had one Apple ID, so I have no idea what to do.  I went to ask the Genius bar at my local Apple store, and they couldn't help, and insisted that I must have purchased the iMac using a different account, but I definitely didn't.  There are a few posts on non-Apple forums of this happening to other people, so it must be a rare bug.
I'm a little concerned it may affect my ability to update from Lion to Mountian Lion.  Can anyone help?
    Dan

Have you done a Disk Repair and a Disk Permissions Repair?
If that doesn't resolve the problem I would suggest calling customer support about this issue as it is most likely on their (Apple's) end that the problem exists.

  • I am not able to update iPhoto, iMovie and garageband on my macbook pro. these three apps came installed with ilife suite.

I am unable to update iphoto, imovie, and Garageband on my Macbook Pro.  I understand that these apps are part of ilife suite.  Purchased Macbook at Best Buy January 2012.  All software is updated.  I recieve message asking me to sign into account that I purchased these apps from.  I am signed in , however I did not purchase these apps they came on Macbook.  I also tried deleting Garageband and re-installing it. Now Garageband says accept but Macbook will not accept.  Anyone else have this problem and were you able to resolve it.

The fact that they were preinstalled is why they are supposed to appear in the Purchased pane, in a temporary area labeled Purchases, for you to accept. Not doing so soon after you got the Mac has messed this process up.
    To get things back on track properly try these steps;
    Updating Pre-installed iLife apps -
1 - Log out and quit iTunes and the Mac App Store (MAS)
2 - Go to System Prefs/Users & Groups/~user/Password and enter the Apple ID connected to your iTunes/Mac App Store account. Close Sys Prefs
    3 - Delete /Mac HD/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
    4 - Reboot your Mac
5 - Open Mac App Store
6 - Go to the Purchased pane and Accept the three iLife apps. Enter iTunes/MAS username/password if prompted.

  • Iphoto, imovie, aperature crash after mountain lion update

All of my iPhoto, iMovie and recently purchased Aperature crash after updating to Mountain Lion. I tried reinstalling the programs
after update ( per apple phone tech support. Did not work same crash. I took my computer to the genius bar and he suggested
making multiple "smaller libraries" or Aperature to fix the problem. The smaller libraries got it to stop crashing but Faces reset, and
all the photos and events are all mixed up not the way I had organized them all.
So I tried Aperature for $80. It crashes worse than iPhoto. The genius bar told me Aperature is designed for Large libraries and
iPhoto is not. I have over 500Gb of Photos or 40,000+ pictures. I have read some of the forums looking for a solution but I'm trying to
figure out what is the best one? Preference files? Going with the multiple smaller libraries? Not Sure. Here are the first lines of the

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Can't update software for iphoto & imovie

i keep getting notices that there are updates available for iphoto & imovie, but when i try to update, i'm told i must log in to the account i used to purchase the applciation.  these programs came pre-installed on my macbook & my regular apple ID log in doesn't seem to work.  anyone have a solution to this problem??

Do you have a 4G iPod?  The one with the camera?  If not then yo have a 2G iPod that can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
If you have a 4G, what version of iTunes dod yu have? iOS 5 requires 10.5.x.

  • App Store can't find the update of iPhoto/iMovie

Yesterday I loaded OS X Mavericks (before I had Mountain Lion).
I also use iPhoto/iMovie (original version nothing cracked) since Leopard..
But actually I can't update to the latest version of iPhoto and iMovie. If I open the App Store -> Update; there are 0 updates available (see picture below).
On my MB Air it did work, but not on my iMac.
Whats wrong and what can I do?

    Hi
I could install does two apps when i went to the App Store and pressed the "Update" Button there. (i first swichted  my language from german to english, my Mac runs now on english) but i still have the problem that in the App Store under the Section "Purchases" i should Accept the two apps to get receive future updates... and i did this hundred times with my apple id but it still does not work and still show me to accept the two apps...
    So problem half solved only.

  • Imovie and iphoto wont update

imovie and iphoto wont update because it says i need to sign into the account i used to purchase them, but they were already on my mac when i bought it, what should i do?

This is usually caused by some error with the AppStore receipt used to track your purchases. There are numerous reports of similar problems online. The best solution I've seen (that fixed my issue) is to delete the _MASReceipt directory from your copy of iTunes. This breaks the account lock and allows the app to update.
First make a backup copy of your app (just in case), then Ctrl-click on the icon in the Finder and choose 'Show Package Contents.
From there navigate to the Contents directory, in which you'll see a _MASReceipts directory. Delete this directory (you may need to authenticate to do this).
Once you've done that, relaunch the App Store and check for updates. With luck the update will work now.

problem updating to iphoto 9.6 after upgrading to Yoesmite  I am getting the following message when I try top date iPhoto This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or canc

"This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." ?
This error message will appear erraneously, if you skipped the update to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1 and went straight from an earlier MacOS X version to Yosemite, without first updating to iPhoto 9.5.1 and associating iPhoto to your AppleID.
Try first to buy iPhoto with your AppleID instead of updating. Delete iPhoto from Applications, but don't empty the Trash, then go to the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto. If you are lucky, it will show as free and you can buy it directly.
If iPhoto  is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support: Ask for a redemption code. You will need to provide a prove of purchase for your mac with iPhoto preinstalled.

I am using a MacBook Pro previously owned by a colleague.
I can't update them as I have my own AppleID and not my colleague's.
How do I change the AppleID matched to my utilities (iPhoto, iMovie, ...)?

What system version are you running and what version of iApps do you currently have?
How do I change the AppleID matched to my utilities
What versions did you have? Did you purchase the iApps with your Apple ID as some previous time?
Go into the System/iCloud preference pane and sign out.  Then sign back in with your Apple ID.  Also sign in to the App Store with your Apple ID. If you have purchased those apps previously you'll be able to download them for free from the Purchases section.
