IPhoto import does not show thumbnails

Since upgrading to iPhoto 9.2.1 on my wifes iMac the thumbnails do not come up for import when inserting a SD card.  In order to import we have to go to Files>Import to Library and a list of images comes up, not the thumbnails.  How can we get the thumbnails to come automaticaly when inserting a SD card?

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • ARQ: Role Import does not show roles in the preview

    Dear All,
Recently I upgraded our system to SP#14. Now when I try to import roles from NWBC->AM->Role Mass Maintenance->Role Import, it does not show roles in preview. Also, it does not import the roles specified. (either a range or full name of the role). It does not even give any error message.
I implemented SAP note#1897975 Role import does not show roles in the preview.
Still facing the same problem. Has any one faced this problem? Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Faisal

    HI Faisal,
This note(1897975) you have to implement in Plug-in System, try to check the same once and let me know if it resolves our issue.

  • Need help Aperture 3 does not show thumbnails

Hello, after installing the Aperture 3, I found does not show thumbnails, tried to do everything he could, but nothing helped. Can anyone encountered this problem?

I've been having what seems to be permission related problems with previews. When you see no thumbnails, highlight all the images, right click on them and "delete previews", then "rebuild previews".
    See if that fixes it.

  • IPhoto 9 does not show any photo of old Mac Mini's iPhoto 7 library

I'm trying to migrate an 80GB iPhoto library from my old Mac Mini to a new iMac. The old Mac Mini has iPhoto version 7. The new iMac iPhoto 9.
When I copied the complete library, iPhoto does not show any photos. How can I fix this? I already tried:
Using iPhoto Library Upgrader – however it shows: Your library can open with the current version of iPhoto and does not need to be prepared with this tool.
Using iPhoto's rebuilding etc functions on both Macs – this does not do the trick
Using iPhoto Library Manager – also shows 0 photo and rebuilding does not work.
    Anybody knows a solution?
    Thanks!

    Doesn't work :
It is also quite strange that iPhoto just opens the library without any warnings, but without showing any of the content (photos, albums, etc.)

  • IPhoto pictures does not show up when trying to change desktop pictures

When I got my new MBP I used a Time Machine back up to restore my system. This has worked great, though so far there is one little issue:
When I right click my desktop and choose "Change background picture" my iPhoto images doesn't show up in the menu like they used to.
Has anyone got any idea about how to get them back in there? Do I somehow have to "let Leopard know" that I have an iPhoto library that I would like to be able to choose from?
    Thanks!

    HI Rune,
That is most likely a shared library issue. The Finder is trying to access your iPhoto library without iPhoto being open. Sometimes when libraries are shared, they can become corrupt.
Go here and read about shared library issues.
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/sharedlibraryerrors.html#Anchor-Resolving-35326
The easiest way to fix this is to back up your important data and do an Archive and Install which restores your system software. It does NOT erase the drive, you do not have to reinstall any Apple pre-installed software, ie., iLife applications.
Go here and read the instructions for archive and install.

  • IPhoto import does not preserve rotation

Just installed the trial version, and imported my library from iPhoto. I used the option to keep the files in their original location.
When I view the images in aperture, many of the images are incorrectly rotated. Note that they display correctly in iPhoto and in MacOS Preview, but Aperture got em wrong. How can I fix this without manually going in and re-rotating everything in Aperture?

For anyone who is still following this thread, here's a summary of findings, along with a workaround.
Problem: Images imported from iPhoto are upside down, subject to the following constraints:
    1) Only images that had keywords "iPhoto Original"
    2) Very old images from my old Nikon E990 were unaffected. Also unaffected were scanned images that were pulled in from my Coolscan V.
    3) Only images that were oriented in "Portrait" were affected.
    Workaround:
    1) In the Library tab, select "iPhoto Library". (This library was created via the iPhoto Import process.
    2) In the filter box, create a filter matching "all" the following criteria:
    - Text includes iPhoto Original
    - Aperture Orientation is Portrait
    3) Select all images that are upside down and click the "rotate" tool twice to flip 'em.
Note: If you have many portrait images, you can further filter by camera since it appears that older devices were not impacted.

  • Google+ photo upload tool does not show thumbnails

When I use the photo upload tool in Google+, you select the pics to upload, enter an album name or use an existing one, and the upload should start. When this is complete, each uploaded photo should show in a panel so that you can then rotate, delete. This works in IE. In Firefox 24, each photo is just shown as a blue line.
I have tried Firefox in Safe Mode to no effect.

Hello in your system details it seems that you have in your [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox#Windows profile folder] a [http://kb.mozillazine.org/User.js_file User.js] file. The user.js file does not exist by default. If you create the file, forget it, if you have not create the file then try to delete the User.js file, to see if the problem goes away (some programs create the file also).
    thank you

I would like to see the thumbnails to better edit, split event photos which are grouped inappropriately for some reason.

  • Imported photos not showing thumbnails

I'm brand spankin' new to iMovie and can't seem to get my photo thumbnails to show.
I want to drag and drop folders into iMovie but when I do, all I get is a generic icon and no thumbnail of the image.,
They do show up when I preload them into iPhoto and then open iMovie, but I've got thousands of images and I'm not going to be loading them into iPhoto because iPhoto takes up so much space when you import images (about 2mb per image).
So, is there a way to get these thumbnails to show up? The images are jpg and CR2 and both worked with iPhoto, but not a direct import.
    Thanks for any help!!

Check your camera date - typically this is due to the event sorting in to an expected place due to incorrect the incorrect dates

  • Iphoto 11 does not show anything except a box with dashes instead of pics? some pics are there, but most are not just recently,

also i had a problem with Lion in app store on my mac mini 2009, kept saying that i need an update, many suggestions but
one that worked was disconnect my external drives to see which one caused the problem and that worked but '
does that mean i cannot use the drive anymore?
    why not?
or do i just continue using and ignore the  update request?
as for iphoto, i had this problem a long time ago where the dashes showed up in a square instead of a picture
but i forgot what to do about it?
    any help appreciated
    thanks

thanks I read that I tried it, only some pics came back, the rest are still empty,

also do i have to go to another question about the external drive causing me problems with
the Lion 10.7.2 showing that I need an update, when the external drive is connected?
what can I do about that, anyone know here? or do I call up for support I have another year of Applecare

  • Iphoto library does not show photo files or years

Since installing I photo 8 I can no longer see individual files (or photos)in the finder window - I see the Iphoto Library and its a huge size but when i click on the file I cannot see the photos, nothing happens.
I can see all the photos in the Iphoto window pane.
Previously I used to go to this file and take copies of the various years to place on DVD for backup.
    Can you help
    thanks

    Super mac Mom,
What you were doing previously was dangerous - you were modifying the old iPhoto's library from outside the iPhoto application. The truth is that it isn't a good idea with iPhoto 08, and it wasn't a good idea then either.
To answer your question - all you have to do is delete them from within iPhoto and then empty iPhoto's trash. They will no longer be on your computer. (This is assuming you have the "Copy items to iPhoto library" option checked - which it is by default. Since you said you "go into the library", this implies that you do have that option checked.) iPhoto will delete the original, anything modified, and the thumbnails when you do that. Your photos are as temporary as you want them to be.

  • I-Movie does not show thumbnails

Hi! I have imported a movie I created and the thumbnails show up as usual in the 'event's area of I-Movie. When I drag these thumbnails into the project area, the entire event shows as one single thumbnail- rather than a series of thumbnails. This makes it almost impossible to work on a project. I must have clicked something but God knows what. I tried other (previous events) thumbnails and it makes no dif. Everything I drag into the project area shows as one thumbnail. Anyone help? Thanks.

In the bottom right corner of the project window there is a slider control. If you set the slider all the way to the right it is set to "All" and it shows all the video in a single thumbnail. Move the slider to the left to change it.
