IPhoto import is frozen and it won't let me force quit.

For some reason iPhoto says it is trying to improt pictures, but it isn't actually doing anything, but the problem is not letting me close the app, even when I try to force quit... It just says "Please wait until photos finish importing." It won't even let me restart my computer... Please help!

Launch the Terminal application and enter
killall iPhoto
That will close iPhoto.

  • Safari is trying to "print" and it won't let me force quit or force restart

I tried to print something yesterday, but it keeps trying to reload the page and goes to the printer page which doesn't allow me to regularly "quit" the program.
    Here is what I've tried:
-Opening Force Quite indirectly...does not allow because it thinks it's trying to print
-Restarting the computer...does not allow for same reason as above
-Force Quitting the computer (holding the power button)...it says the computer is already restarting because I tried above first.
I can't open any other window in Safari either as the one with the print window takes precedence over the others.
    Thank you!

    Thank you Linc!
Right before I got your response, I tried exiting out when the computer was offline, and it allowed me to take it off.
Thanks again for your answer...have a good day!

  • Safari keeps freezing and crashing on my macbook. Won't let me 'force quit', re-start or shut down. HELP!

Sometimes when I am surfing the internet each website gets slower and slower to load, and eventually the little loading rainbow icon just keeps going round and round and it has frozen and crashed. What concerns me also is the fact that when this happens it won't even let me 'force quit Safari'. Although I can still bring other applications up (other than the internet), it won't let me shut down or restart either. The only way to get the internet working again is to press the power button which I know I shouldn't do, but what choice do I have when it won't let me force quit, restart or shut down?
I am up to date with all the software updates. Because I was having this crashing problem I downloaded both iBoostUp (off app store) and MacKeeper off the internet to scan for hidden viruses etc, but it still hasn't eradiated the problem.

Tell us what Extensions you put there; if no extension, what other apps you installed BEFORE this began to occur.
You must fall under one of these situations.

    Try these two steps:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM

  • IPhoto is stuck on import and it wont even let me force quit

Quite some time ago, at least a few months, I was importing only a couple photos from my iPhone onto my Macbook. It was taking a long time to complete so I just decided to quit the whole thing entirely. When I tried to close iPhoto it wouldn't let me and a message popped up saying "Please wait for the import to complete." I then tried to force quit, and the same message popped up. Many months have passed and the same message pops up when I try to close iPhoto, and all I can do on iPhoto now is look at the pictures I have on there. I really want to fix this problem because my phone is clogging up with photos and I would like to import them, but I can't. If someone could help, that'd be great. Thanks!

Save and close everything you can and then use the Activity Monitor in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to quit the loginwindow process.

  • Installer stopped at 95% and won't let me force quit, restart or turn off the computer

The flash player install manager stopped at 95% on my Mac and has been like that for a couple of days now. I can't end the installer, I can't even force quit. The installer doesn't allow me to restart or turn off the computer, because it's "still installing".
How can I solve this problem? Please help me!

    Hello,
Did you tried Flash Player 11.2, Flash Player Archived : http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
Use Flash Player uinstaller (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html) to clean any instance for Flash Player.
    Thanks,

Will Image capture (in your applications foldr) see them and bring to disk? If so then once they are safely off the memory card and on disk use the camera's format command to reformat the memory card
and can you impoprted to iPhtoo from disk? Will preview open the photos on disk?

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

A wag at this.  A port issue?
    "Apple Push Notification network setup
When MDM servers and iOS devices are behind a firewall, some network configuration may need to take place in order for the MDM service to function properly. To send notifications from an MDM server to Apple Push Notification service, TCP port 2195 needs to be open. To reach the feedback service, TCP port 2196 will need to be open as well. For devices connecting to the push service over Wi-Fi, TCP port 5223 should
    be open."

Try it on your home network where there isn't a lot of 'controls' -- network filtering , firewalls, etc.

  • Hi, Know any other ways to quit QuickTime player for Mac OS x Lion, Other than using the command control Q Because it is just frozen and it won't quit the program.

Alright I started experiencing this problem about a week ago and It will just keep "Finishing..." up the screen recording but it wont let me shut down the mac, Nor will it let me Force quit this program to quit it because it is just annoying there, not being able to close down. If anyone has a solution, please do let me know. Again, I am using a Mac OS X Lion, 2011 Version.

You may also want to reset the plist of quicktime. Go to your users Library then look for Preferences folder. Look for com.apple.QuicktimePlayer.plist. Drag the plist on the desktop and try using quicktime again. I hope the problem is not the graphic card.
