Iphoto import stalled when mac ran out of power

I was trying to import photos into iPhoto from a digital camera, when the Mac battery ran out of power. This seems to have caused the import to stall, and now I can't make it restart or even stop.
Here are the system data:
OS X Yosemite
iPhoto library is running from an external hard drive
Digital camera is Canon LG20

Apple Menu -> Force Quit.
There is a high likelihood that your library will be damaged. Do you have a back up?

• After upgrading to iOS8, iPhoto Events from my Mac are out of order.

After upgrading to iOS 8, iPhoto Events from my Mac are out of order on my & my husband's iPads and iPhones. Anyway to get back in order or do we need to revert to prior iOS?

iPhoto for iOS is no longer supported nor works in iOS 8 and has been dropped from further development by Apple. This Apple document describes how to migrate photos from iPhoto to Photos: Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8
It's a whole new ballgame now. Here's some info on how the Photos apps now works.
Your photos are still on your phone. With iOS 8 there is no My Photo Stream or Camera Roll any more. The MPS has been replaced with the Recent Activity album.
The CR is replaced by the Collections mode. The closest we can get to the Camera Roll is to turn off the Summarize Photos feature in the Settings/Photos & Camera pane and view the photos in the Collections/Moments window.
The photos will be in chronological order when scrolled up from the bottom of the window.
The Recent Activity album is showing the photos added in the last 30 days going back to 8/20 (today being 9/18). In iPhoto on a Mac the My Photo Stream is showing more like 31 days, 8/19 to today, 8/20. It must be how the two devices calculate the last 30 days.
WARNING: If you use iTunes to sync photos between your iPhone or iPad and your Mac do not activate the iCloud Drive. Doing so will kill the capability of using iTunes to sync with your mobile device and disable Documents & Data syncing for your iCloud account on OS X Mavericks and earlier Macs, as well as iOS 7 and earlier devices.

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight as described here. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can also use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

You'll have to select the entire external hard drive by the hardware name itself and then apply a new partition table to it under the Partition tab of Disk Utility. Erase and format the drive.

I hope you are able to solve your problem. The iPhone is definitely designed to be able to run the power all the way down. In fact, the instructions to maintain your battery suggest doing that once a month. I do it now and then, not usually once a month and I am always able to get my phone back to where it would be usable in about 10 minutes of charge. I always keep it in the charger until it is fully charged, however.
I just didn't want you to think you made some big mistake to let it run out of charge. There must be something going on with your phone or the battery.

• T61 Video driver issue when battery ran out

When battery ran out the display goes back to default. I
need to uninstall & reinstall the Nvidia drivers in order to correct the
issue.
Can you please advise? How to fix it permanently?

elementx, welcome to the forum,
if you could post your type and model number and which OS you have this would be a help. If your model number ends in CTO please provide some details about your T61 i.e. which graphic chip. This would help us to help you.
Which driver are you installing, maybe you could provide a link to it?
If you have a factory installation you could try installing the original driver which can be found in C:\swtools\drivers\video.
Thanks in advance

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand you have been experiencing issues with your iPhone restarting and showing you a blue screen. I wont be able to give you an exact answer as to why this is happening. However, this is the most relevant troubleshooting article for this issue. This article also provides options to reach out to us via phone for additional assistance.

I have a 2.5 year old iphone (3G). it completely ran out of power today while I was traveling. I've had it plugged in to a power source now for 1+ hours and it doesn't appear to be taking a charge...I'm wondering if it is dead now and won't take a charge anymore?

• My iPhone ran out of power and now it won't be turned on

Yesterday I got a "message" on my iPhone display which I had never seen before. The power was so low that it just showed a falshing bettery icon and a symbol that showed that I needed to connect it to a power source. I didn't have time to do this before it ran all out of power.
As soon as I got home I connected it and it was connected to the power source all night. Now, however, when I try to turn it on, while it's still connected to a power source, it shows the Apple logo for about 10 secs, then the light is dimmed in the display, still revealing the Apple logo, and then it just turns off again.
I've tried holding the power and home button at the same time also, that didn't work either. When it's not connected to a power source nothing at all happens when pressing any buttons.
Can somebody please help me with this?
Thanks!

• There is a problem with the charging cable that wont let my iPad charge. it is probably the little usb thingy. it does charge when it is out of power, but as soon as it turns on it stops charging. anyone got a fix for it? mail me at simenrognli@hotmail.no

My chargers little USB port probably is the fail. it lets my ipad charge only when it is completely out of power, but as soon as it turns on, it stops charging. Any tips on what i can do? The charger is new and has worked until today. i cant bring it to the store because it was bought in my neighbour country Sweden. Thanks in advance.

- Try another cable.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. You can still go if your country has Genius Bars

• Instead of going to sleep macbook turns off when it runs out of power

Sometimes (not all the time-- I'd estimate 50% of the time) when I am running my macbook from the battery, and I run out of power, my computer shuts itself off instead of going to sleep.
B/c I use my macbook a lot from the battery to write etc., the shutting off is getting annoying.
Has anyone else had this happen, or know what I can do about it?
I am running the most updated version of 10.5.1

This problem affects pre Santa Rosa MacBooks so you need to check the following.
Check and see if you have battery update 1.3 installed. You should find it at the location listed. Right click on the bundle and check *Get Info* a window will open and you can check the version there.
MacBook/System/Library/SystemConfiguration/BatteryUpdater.bundle
Leopard(10.5.1) and Tiger(10.4.11) installs it. It is the MacBook Pro update.
If it is 1.3 drag it to the trash and then reboot. After you reboot you will be able to empty the trash. Once you have done that run software update and it should install Battery Update 1.2. You should reset the SMC (System Management Controller) after doing this.
Where is this "bundle" located at?

• IPhoto Import on New Mac-Insanity

-- Just upgraded to a new 27" 2.7ghz iMac from a '06 iMac.
Manually imported the iPhoto Library package using target disk mode on the old guy. Simply dragged the icon into the new library.
album.
Every single photo was imported at least a minimum of three times. All of my events were painstakingly curated with accurate dates and times for pictures going back to the 1980's---all of this information seems to be just plain random/wrong now. Also, the automatic 'face' generated files are actually visible in each event-- i.e., if i have 20 pictures of friends at the beach, there are now an additional 20 pictures of their faces, and all of this duplicated three times.
Help?

Te problem is that you
Simply dragged the icon into the new library.album.
That means you imported one Library to another. That means that all the individual versions anre treated as single images, you lo Albums and metadata and have a mess.
To migrate to a new Machine
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network, Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
There's no importing involved.

If it doesn't come back after you restore the iPad, it sounds like you've damaged the hardware, you'll need to take it to Apple or an authorized service center.
