IPhoto import stops
When I try to import 226 pics from Casio EX-Z500, the import stops, uncompleted with 152 left.
Can you download the lot to a folder on the desktop using Image Capture?

New macbook, iPhoto import stopping
i have a new macbook pro, just got it yesterday and there is nothing on it yet. Every time i plug my iPhone into it to import the photos, it imports everything until about halfway and then it stops. and it just stays on that one picture. I've forced closed the app and relaunched it to try again many times but it keeps doing the same thing. how do i get it to actually finish the import????
If you're legally entitled, the App Store will offer the latest update and install it for free. In Lion and Mountain Lion, you need iLife '11 as the previous versions are incompatible. The update does not affect the all important iPhoto library containing your graphic treasures. Latest iPhoto '11 version is 9.3.2 (670.63). IPhoto won't open when iPod is connected. iTunes does, iPhoto has stopped.
For a while now, when I plug in my iPod 5, iPhoto has stopped opening up, and my device doesn't show up in Image Capture. This has been occurring for several months now, and I would like to import my photos now. Help?
Check iPhoto's General preference pane to see what app is selected to open when a camera is connected:

I just did a software update that was apparently for iPhoto. When I try to open iPhoto it stops at "step 5" and will not go further. what do I do?
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Click "More Info", not "o.k.".
Then open the iPhoto Preferences "Accounts" tab and remove the "Mobile Me" account, if it is still there.
Quit iPhoto.
Check, if "Mobile Me" is still enabled in the System Preferences > Mobile Me panel (if you still have this panel). if yes, sign out.
Log off and on again.
Test, if iPhoto still is bugging you to transfer your Mobile Me content. If yes, you need to delete your iPhoto Preferences from your User Library.
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist
And also remove the file
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto/mmsunset.plist
from the Caches in the User Library - this file contain the end date of Mobile me. -

How do I get iPhoto to stop trying to merge MobileMe Albums? I don't have any! I never did!!! The problem is that each time I open iPhoto it wants to merge something that doesn't even exist.
When the "mobile Me" alert panel appears, select the "Learn more" button, not o.k. Ignore the web page that will open,
Then open the "iPhoto preferences > Accounts" panel and remove the Mobile Me account.
Also open the System preferences , go to the "Mobile Me" preferences and sign out of Mobile Me.

How do I get photos from the iPhoto import folder to the iPhoto library? It uploaded, but hung while deleting from my camera, so no imported photos are in the iPhoto library. I watched it upload about 400 photos, one by one. They're somewhere, but they don't appear in the iPhoto library. As iPhoto was deleting them from my camera, it got hung up, then a message came "you should eject before disconnecting a device." I hadn't touched the camera. The message came by itself. I couldn't get iPhoto to respond, so I disconnected the camera and did a Force Quit. Opening it back up, the pictures were gone. Can somebody help me?
What version of iPhoto are you running? Assuming it's iPhoto 9 or later Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

XML import - stopped due to "critical error"
Hi all. For the moment, I'm still working with FCS1/FCP 5.1.4, OS 10.4.11.
In the past, when I've needed to open a project I've started on other machines running 6.0.x, I've done an XML export, and imported said xml file into a new project on my machine. If I recall correctly, XML type 2 worked just fine.
Well, it doesn't work now, and I'm wondering why?
The machine I'm exporting from is running OS10.4.11, and FCP 6.0.3. I've exported the project out of there in all flavors of xml (1,2,3 and 4), with and without clip metadata. And I get nothing on import, bupkus, nada, zilch and zero...except for the oh-so-helpful message "XML import stopped due to critical error"
So who broke this?I've had this happen to me when the original project contained sequences that used filters not supported by 5.1.4.
My solution was to strip out suspect filters until it worked.

Iphoto import creating and importing duplicates/ios8
I'm using iphoto 9.4.3 and my iphone 5s with ios8. Since septemberish (ios8 update), it's been double-importing all my pix on from my iphone - none are showing up as duplicates on the phone but import/iPhoto view shows and imports them all twice. All images come in as img_1234 and img_1234_2 for example.
Can't figure out why this is but it's a pain - I'm using third party software to scrub duplicates from the library after the fact but is anyone else having this problem?I've got this same problem. Didn't see this thread before I posted mine (Re: iPhoto imports 2 of every photo - iPhone 6).
I've tried:
Hard restart iPhone
Updated iPhoto (9.6)
Updated OSX (10.10)
Updated iOS (8.1.1)
Nothing has worked; I get two of every photo and video imported into iPhoto.
Has anyone else solved this issue? It's not a huge problem; more like an annoyance. -

No Events or Albums show, although PhotoBooth is visible, error message 'Open iPhoto 5 or later to see photos...'
This used to work, but not since installing Security Update 2010-006 (1.0),
with "iTunes" (10.0.1) and JavaForMacOSX10.6Update3.
Using iPhoto '09 (8.1.2), iMovie '09 (8.0.6).
Heard mention that now only alpha-numeric characters are allowed for file names and titles, so started replacing "&", apostrophes, etc. But there are a LOT of photos to change!

Tried repairing permissions, but got a warning about a SUID file has been modified and will not be repaired, (not sure if this is relevant).

I've had something like this, since October.
Firstly, In the Utilities folder, open Disk Utility, select the disk where the Applications are (Main hard disk) click First Aid, then "Repair Permissions". Leave it running with nothing else open.
When finished, open iMovie, click the photo browser icon, any luck?
Seen an Apple support doc 'Cannot see iPhoto in other Apps', basically you may be right about ampersands & apostrophes.
In iPhoto, look at all your smart album names for non-alpha-numeric characters, and replace or delete the possible culprits. I had lots of these, including brackets (which were not a problem until recently). Keep checking your smart albums to find others, such as these: !@£$%^&()[]{}'\"|~.
Quit iPhoto and all other iLife Apps, then in your home folder, Library, Preferences, move 'com.apple.iApps.plist' to the desktop (this will be recreated when you next open an iApp/iLife application, such as iPhoto).
You may need to remake the iPhoto AlbumData.xml file, after all that name editing. See later.
Open iMovie and click the photo browser icon, if you still get the message, rather than Albums and Events, Quit iMovie.
Open iPhoto, double check your source list for folders which you may have smart albums in, (click the triangle to the left of any folders that you've made to reveal their contents). Repeat the search and replace of special characters. I'd missed a few, hiding in folders.
Now would be a good time to remake the iPhoto 'AlbumData.xml' file.
Quit all applications, go to your Pictures folder, iPhoto Library, ctrl-click, 'Show package contents', drag 'AlbumData.xml' to the desktop.
Close the finder windows.
Open iPhoto, create a new album, then Quit, (this should remake the xml file).
Open iMovie again and click the photo browser icon. This is the point where I had success, I hope it works for you as well.

We have been importing transports into qas client 200 without any problems, we then created client 300 in qas and when we tried to import the transports that were already in the queue, the import started hanging, i checked the logs and saw that the RDDIMPPDP job had been stopped unexpectedly and i restarted the job and i was able to import into 300. The following day i tried to import the remaining transports but it was no longer importing, there is nothing in the. There are no entries in the import History, and the import monitor is just showing that the import is running. Can anyone help me out, what might be causing this???Hie Rishi Abrol

Configuration was done on DEV in client 100, and we were using clint 200 in QAS to test now we have creted a client 300 for training purposes but now import stopped functioning, i canolonger transport even to 200, so is it possible so is it possible to copy using scc1 from client 200 when there was no configuration done there, if possible pliz help me how to go about it, thanks in advance -
I am trying to import a full DV tape. I don't want to break it into clips; i just want the whole tape stored. The import keeps stoping at various times. I am not low on HD space. One thing that seems to stop it is when the video was stopped and starts again. Other times I just see that the capture has stopped but the video is still running. I set the capture to not break the capture into scenes, thinking that this would make it less sensitive, but no help.

trying to import from my canon zr85 camcorder, and when I hit import, the preview creen on computer is runing in slow motion, AND the import stops a few minuets into the import. Have started over & over & it stops at random points on the tape.
Last week I sucessfully imported 10 hours of tape (from another camera). I am using firewire connection. Any thoughts, am I missing something?
MikeI'm getting similar behavior using my Canon Elura 90. iMovie allows the tape to play all the way to the end, but at seemingly random points it just stops importing what is playing. One thing that I have noticed is that if +anything at all+ (screensaver, iCal alarm, etc) comes up on the screen in front of iMovie, the import will always quit at that point. But it also seems to quit at random points even if nothing comes up. It's already taken me several hours to import my 1-hour Christmas tape, and I'm not half done yet, because I've got better things to do on Christmas day than sit and babysit the import. (I can't do anything else on the computer meanwhile because that will of course stop the import.)
