Iphoto imported into events out of order

I did not state the problem very well the first time.  My pictures I just imported, showed up at the bottom with the correct dates when I viewed them as "photos" under Library on the left; but when I choose to view Events; they show up with among other events from 2010 or 2009.  WHY?   This has happened with several imports in the last 2 weeks.  All dates of photos are correct, but Iphoto places them among events created 2 or 3 years ago.

  • IPhoto import through Events

Is there an option to import photos back to iPhoto 08 (after I have instaled it from scratch) but automatically to make new events according to photo dates (as I had before).
Problem started when I have extracted all my photos (many events) before I uninstaled iPhoto, and now it only imports into one event, not by dates when photos were shot.
It seems to me that somewhere there should be option (import to events by dates" But where?
(I have checked "Imported items from finder" option in iPhoto Preferences, but it did not helped.
Please, if somebody knows more, I don't want to do it manually...
    Thanx a lot.

After third try, it has imported into Events by dates. Oh, hapyness...

  • IPhoto 9.3 - all EVENTS out of order, random key photos, some empty.

Since iPhoto 9.3 update, all Events folders at top of Source List are showing correctly as thumbnails - correct order (manual), key photos - no probs. But they're also further down the S'List, under another EVENTS, this time out of order. When I go to full screen view to access ALBUMS thumbnails, the Events are above them, looking like Albums (stack of white framed photos), in random order, with random key photos, and some are empty. Also, on this view only, scrolling is not working properly.

I have had the same problem... not to mention I made it worse trying to reset my manual settings for iphoto!!!!
Now all of my stuff on my comupter is out of order!! : ( It will take me months to fix this. I often use iphoto on my ipad for work and it looks like that is not going to happen now!
I am very unhappy about this apple people!

  • Import photos are out of order

I hope I can explain this so it makes sense.  I am trying to import photos from a compact flash card.  When they come into Lightroom they are out of order.  I have tried sorting them by all the different means in the drop down but still are not correct.  I notice that for some reason some of the photos show incorrect dates and that seems to be what is affecting the import.  Lightroom is putting the photos from the oldest date first.  I was able to load the pictures into a folder on the desktop and they are in the correct order just using the camera file names.  When I tried to load them from that folder into Lightroom, they went back to the incorrect order.  Is there a way to import without the metadata?  Is that what is fouling this up?  I don't know where these weird dates have come from but they are there and I can't get rid of them.
I am running Lightroom on an imac with OS 10.4.11 and this is the first I have run into this problem.  These photos are from an older camera, a Nikon Coolpix 885 and are my son's photos.  I normally import from my Canon camera using a compact flash with a reader  and have never had such a problem.  Here I am talking up Lightroom to my son about how easy it is to get the photos in and organize them and he is not buying it at this point.  Hopefully this makes sense and someone knows what is going on.
    Thanks

The date information is taken from the camera which writes it to the file. This needs to be set to the correct date and time in the camera itself.
The order the images are shown in the Library mode is set by clicking on the sort button in the tool bar, which if not showing can be activated from view, tool bar. There are different sort orders that can be applied including sorting by file name. You can also sort by dragging the images to the order you wish them to appear in by selecting user order.

  • Renaming clips that have already been imported into Event Library...

    Hello all,
Would anyone know how to change the filenames of clips that after they've been imported into my iMovie Event Library?
To keep track of my clips, I changed all the video filenames BEFORE importing them, so in Finder, they look like this:
    clip_0001.mov
    clip_0002.mov
    clip_0003.mov
    etc...
A few dozen videos that I imported a while back have different names, and I'd like to change them to the easier numerical filenames above.
Problem is...I've already created projects using those clips, and simply changing the filenames in Finder would break those Projects. And I'm unsure if I'd have to reimport the files after I change their names.
    Please help! Thanks!

As long as the default iPhoto Preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library" is checked you can delete photos once they are imported and tested within iPhoto
You, of course, still need regular backups to avoid loss due to hardware/software/human failure - I use time machine and a daily clone plus other periodic backups

  • Stills Resolution - Photo Browser vs. Importing into Event

    All,
I am preparing a slideshow with photos of varying size.  I manage my photos in Aperture and usually use the photo browser in Final Cut Pro X to access them. Some of the photos are low-res (0.1 MB 286 x 369 pixels, for example).  If I bring the example photo into my project via the photo browser, the resolution is cut in half (143 x 184).  If I import the photo into the Event Browser and add it to the slideshow the original resolution is preserved.  Its obviously an easier workflow to use the photo browser but many of the photos I am working with are of poor quality to begin with so I don't want to have to first export from Aperture then import into FCPX.  Does anyone know why I am seeing this behavior?
    Thanks very much,

    You're probably transcoding to Proxy.
This halves the size of the imported media.
    Andy
That's what I thought at first, but that is not what I see in my machine.
I set the playback to proxy media, and in the Proxy Media folder I get an alias to the original file (sitting in the Original Media folder, naturally), so even using proxy does not halve the dimensions of the still image.

  • Imovie events out of order

Since ive upgraded to imovie  in Maverick all of my events are not in order according to dates the clips were taken.  They all out of order. is there an easy way to have the events in order according to date the video clips were taken?

Unfortunately this appears to be a bug in 10.0. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5468703?tstart=0

  • IMovie - import into events by date?

    Hi gang,
iMovie used to have an option that would automatically create a new event for each new date that clips were filmed.  This was helpful when importing video that was filmed over long time periods spanning multiple events.  I can't find the option for doing this in the new iMovie.  Is there a way to replicate this old iMovie functionality in the new iMovie?
    Cheers!

    Okay - but after that..
I followed the instruction in the tutorial and did the following:
    Click Import (Existing Files)
Select source - (pictures appear in grid)
    include sub-folders if appropriate
    Select “add”
File Handling - Changed build preview to standard
Apply During Import - Nothing added
    Add keywords - Added keywords
Import (Tutorial says to click “Import” but import is greyed out and not available)
What am I missing? The destination information does not appear. I tried selecting that before I clicked "Import" but that didn't help..

  • Make iPhoto import clips without rearranging the order????

I made a movie of some friends playing football on an older version of iMovie with transitions and titles, etc. As a backup, I exported the movie back onto my digital camcorder. Now I would like to use iMovie 09 to create a higher quality mp4 of the movie than I did before. So I imported the movies from the camcorder into iMovie 09. Works fine except... iMovie 09 breaks the movie into clips and reorders them with all the transitions and titles at the end.
Is it possible to make iMovie leave the movie as is. The older iMovies would break a long movie into clips, but would leave them in the correct order and when played would be seamless. What's up with iMovie 09 and can I make it stop messing with the order of my imports?
    Thank you,
    Bob A.

Okay thanks for the tip, I think I might be one small step closer.
I copied the "iPhoto Library" folder off the disk, and double clicked the "Library6.iPhoto" file (so it must have been created by iPhoto 6). iPhoto '09 proceeded to convert the library to the '09 format, and the photos in this newly transformed library retain their titles and descriptions. Yay!
But now I need to figure out a way to merge this library into my main library. I tried importing this library into my main one, but it resulted in the same problem of ignoring the titles and descriptions. Drag-and-dropping the newly created library into the main library brings the same result.

  • Can't get AVIs in iPhoto imported into iMovie

I have iLife '08. I imported a bunch of pics and AVIs into iPhoto. I'm trying to import the AVI videos into iMovie but I can't drag and drop the AVIs from iPhoto into iMovie like I thought I could. When I try the "Import Movies..." option I use the file dialog window to browse to the the ~/Pictures/ directory but my iPhoto collection is not in there, there is just an icon "iPhoto Library" which just launches iPhoto. I thought they used to be stored under the ~/Library folder somewhere but I can't find them there either. This is so frustrating! This doesn't "just work"!

I'm trying to import the AVI videos into iMovie but I can't drag and drop the AVIs from iPhoto into iMovie like I thought I could.
Only "edit" compatible videos can be "dragged and dropped" to iMovie '08. Even then they can only be dropped to event names in the Event Library list.
When I try the "Import Movies..." option I use the file dialog window to browse to the the ~/Pictures/ directory but my iPhoto collection is not in there, there is just an icon "iPhoto Library" which just launches iPhoto.
The "Import Movies..." option cannot look into "package" files like the "iPhoto Library" which is where your clips are located. Use the iMovie '08 "iPhoto" browser in the Event Library list instead to locate clips that are both available and compatible.
This is so frustrating! This doesn't "just work"!
Try reviewing the on-line tutorials and reading the software documentation and using the "Help" resource. As they say, "when in doubt, read the instructions."

  • After 10000 images, Aperture begins to importing new images out of order

    Hi All,
I'm at about 13,000 images and from time to time I noticed that whenever I imported images after 10,000...Aperture at that point had begun the numbering sequence over again, some of the images would wind up next to its identically numbered image say from a year ago. In other words, Aperture is sorting by image number instead of by date even though I've selected date.
Now it is happening all the time and all the new images (after 10,000) are finding their home somewhere within the catalog of images instead of at the very end.
I thought I was going to be able to resolve the issue quickly by selecting the 'sort by image date' but that does not fix it. I've tried sorting the dates in an ascending and descending order but nothing I try fixes the sequence. I desperately need to get my images back into chronological order. Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Tyler

    orehek -
Are you renaming the images on import? and if so, which preset are you using? Aperture doesn't have its own naming system otherwise. It uses the file names as the version name.
Also, as another poster asked, which view are you using to view them all at once? All Photos? You can't have more than 10K versions in a single project I believe but I don't see how that could contribute to the weirdness you are seeing.
As for why sort by date doesn't work, that makes no sense. Unless what you actually have is correct, ie, you have duplicate images in your library, that rightly have the same date and name, so the sorts reflect that. Or you have made new versions from your existing images - those would also sort like that. Can you give us some more details/examples?

  • IPhoto import continually errors out. I have a massive iPhoto library.

Every time I try to import my iPhoto library to elements it errors out and nothing imports. I have 66,600 images in my iPhoto library, any recommendations?  (I made sure it wasn't a space issue though)

    Hi,
Can you please share a screenshot of the dialog which shows up upon trying to import from iPhoto library?
Also, are there multiple iPhoto libraries?
    Thanks

  • Why does iPhoto import new events at the beginning of the events?f

When I import photos from a camera of from a hard drive, iPhoto '11 places the new untitled event near , not at the beginning, of the chronological events list.  Is there a remedy for this?

You can change that via the View ➙ Sort ➙ By Date ➙ Descending menu option.

  • When I send an SMS message from my Text Message Forwarding enabled Macbook to an Android, it breaks the message up into several out of order chunks. Is there a solution to this?

I have a 2012 Macbook Air and an iPhone 5, both with up-to-date software. When I set up Text Message Forwarding, everything went according to plan, until I sent a relatively wordy text to a friend (from my Macbook) to a friend on an Android phone. It chopped the text up into several 2 line fragments, and delivered them in seemingly random order. The fragments were specifically 2 lines, and not 160 characters, which is the "limit" you used to get on old SMS messages. It continues to happen.

Are you using any emoji, or accented characters? If so, try not to. Also, I recall something about a double space at the very end of the text. Unfortunately, I don't remember if you should use them or avoid them.. Beyond that, there's not much you can do. How the text is delivered is under control of the carrier.

  • Imported song listed out of order -- yes, I checked song and disc "# of #"s

Imported a five-volume set of CDs. Song #15 of 18, Disc #1 of 5 insists on sitting on top of the order. And, yes, I've checked the column-sorting, it's sorted by album.
It shows up this way on both iTunes and my iPod. WTH?!
