IPhoto imports ONLY first frame of iPhone 5 videos?

Hello,
My videos import as a single still image that represents the first frame of the video.
Is iPhoto 7 compatible with iPhone 5 videos?  If so, what am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
MTeter

You need OS X 10.6.8 or later & iPhoto 9 or later, to use your phone with your computer.

  • IPhoto 08 only works SOMETIMES with iPhone....

    iPhoto 08 only works SOMETIMES with iPhone. I have been able to upload my photos from my iPhone SOMETIMES... Other times iPhoto doesn't recognize that the iPhone is plugged in. The IMPORT photos just NEVER showes up. How can I get it to CONSISTANTLY recognize my iPhone... what is wrong? Never had this problem with 06.

    ok, here's what i did to get iphoto to recognize my iphone.
    change the "connecting camera opens:" dialogue box to "image capture" (in the iphoto preferences "general" tab @ the bottom of the window)
    close the preferences & quit iphoto.
    quit itunes
    open iphoto & change the "connecting camera opens:" dialogue box back to "iphoto"
    close the preferences & quit iphoto
    plug in iphone.
    both itunes & iphoto will launch simultaneously.
    best of luck!

  • Get first frame of an flv video into a jpg image

    I am creating an app with flex for recording a video and i want to capture the first image of the video recorded, by now i use the following function in order to capture the
    first image but its rather slow
    private function capture():void
                                            var bitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData(videoDisplay.width, videoDisplay.height);
                                            bitmapData.draw(videoDisplay);
                                            var jpg:JPEGEncoder = new JPEGEncoder();
                                            var ba:ByteArray           = jpg.encode(bitmapData);
                                            var base64_enc: Base64Encoder = new Base64Encoder();
                                            base64_enc.encodeBytes(ba,0,ba.length);
                                            imgEncoded = base64_enc.toString();
    and i would like to get the first frame of the recorded video as a thumb after it is recorded
    is there any idea on how to achieve that?
    Thanks in advance!

    Define slow. What you're doing is pretty basic. Converting a display object into a bitmapdata so you can jpeg encode it. The copy to the bitmap will be lightning quick. The encode to JPEG is probably the slowest part of the process and on any modern cpu that will be a fraction of a second. Then the base64encode might take about the same amount of time. How is that slow?

  • Importing Only New Photos from iPhone?

    Is it possible to import just the new photos from my iPhone to my computer using iPhoto? Every time I connect my iPhone it wants to re-import every photo in my camera roll-- not just the ones that are new since the last import. I don't want to delete the older photos from the iPhone and I'm tired of re-importing the same photos over and over and having to delete the duplicates.
    iPhoto 6.06, iPhone 3G
    (Message cross-posted to iPhoto 6 forum)

    I using iPhoto version 7 included with iLife 08 which allows for this, but I delete all photos from my iPhone after being imported by iPhoto - as I usually do with any other digital camera after the import process is complete.
    If I want any of the most recent imported photos available on my iPhone for viewing, I add the photos to an existing iPhoto album that is selected to be transferred to my iPhone followed by a sync, or I create a new iPhoto album for the photos, select the new alum under the Photos tab for my iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync.

  • Only first frame played with gotoAndPlay

    Hello,
    My issue is: I have a 120 frame movieclip with a stop(); action on the first frame.  I have AS (below) that tells the mc to 'gotoAndPlay(2); But it only goes to frame 2 and stops (no action on that frame) instead of continuing to frame 120.  Here an example of the code:
    my_mc.onEnterFrame=function(){
    if((mcText1 eq "Hit")){
    _root.other_mc.gotoAndPlay(2);
    else{
    _root.other_mc.gotoAndStop(1);
    Any ideas to make the mc play automatically when the function requirements are met???
    I should know this.
    Thank you

    Each frame (thanks to onEnterFrame ) the condition (mcText1 eq "Hit") is true or false then each frame go to the frame 1 or frame 2 EVER!!.
    When the movie is going to frame 3 again is sent to frame 2
    change onEnterFrame to onLoad or call the function only once when you need
    my_mc.onLoad=function(){
    if((mcText1 eq "Hit")){
    _root.other_mc.gotoAndPlay(2);
    else{
    _root.other_mc.gotoAndStop(1);

  • First Frame in reverse speed video clip is fuzzy

    I am dealing with Progressive scan uncompressed AVI's in CS3, and whenever I try to do a simple reverse at 100% with no other effects applied, the first frame in the resulting reversed clip comes out fuzzy/distorted while the rest of the clip is fine. Can anyone please help me fix this?

    Interesting. I haven't seen this, but I have a theory... Did this JUST start happening for you? That is after the 10.4.7 update? Apparently the first version of the 10.4.7 update that was posted had some missing OpenGL files. I would imagine that QuickTime uses OpenGL for its imaging these days, and what you are seeing could be caused by the fact that the OpenGL default coordinate system is different than Carbon's, another API still in use by a lot of Mac OS X.
    This is just a wild theory, so what I am suggesting is that you go to Apple's website, and download the latest combo updater for 10.4.7, reinstall it, and see if the problem goes away.

  • Importing: Only first 1% of video, but complete audio

    Hi,
    I unsuccessfully tried to import video files of different formats like MJPEG, MP4. In contrast, for MPEG and WMV it always seems to work.
    The phenomenon is, after importing the video file, when playing it in the preview window or embedding it in the sequence, the first 1% of the video is stretched to the complete video length, such that this results in a "extreme slow motion" like effect. The audio however is fine.
    What can I do to get around this and make these files import normally?
    phil

    I tried the ffdshow codec bundle. Still doesnt work.
    The strange thing is, that Adobe Bridge, Adobe Encore and the Media Player decode the videos perfectly.
    And Premiere is obviously also able to decode it, however only the first few frames...

  • Import Only First Track

    I tried importing a CD as MP3 yesterday, and only the first track was actually imported -- the rest of the tracks appeared in the list of files created, but each was 2K in size, with no content.
    When I went to another computer and did the same, it worked fine. Both machines are using Vista ... I am a bit surprised, and would like to know if there is any specific setting that might cause this, or if perhaps there is something that someone knows about that is an issue ... it would be frustrating to have to use the other machine when I will be using the MP3s on the other ...

    Your notebook PC probably has different hardware & different drivers. You can mess around trying to fix it, or as Vixen suggested, just rip your CDs using WMP as MP3 files and add them to the itunes library.
    If you want AAC or AIFF files, you'll have to figure out itunes & the drivers.

  • CS4 v4.1.0 some vob files import only first few seconds

    I have a mini-DVD camcorder that creates vob files which I wish to edit in Premiere Pro CS4 v4.1.0.
    I find that there are four .vob files on the DVD, one is a chapter index, the other three compose what I recorded.
    I am able to import all of the latter three, however, only the middle one includes the full track of 16 minutes.  The first and last one import as only about 10 seconds instead of the seven minutes each is.
    I tried to work around using DGIndex.exe and MeGUI Modern Media Encoder for the other two, but this only gives me the video, without the audio.
    So, either I need a way to rip the audio off the two vobs and hopefully not mess up the lip sync too much or to get the vob files to import correctly into Premiere Pro.
    Any help appreciated.  This is Windows XP SP3.
    Thanks.

    Well, there are VOB's, and then there are VOB's. Being a Video Object, they can contain a lot of "stuff." This ARTICLE will give you a bit of background.
    Dag's suggestion is one that many use and the conversion program gets high marks from many users.
    Good luck,

  • GIF animations load only first frame

    GIF animations show up as still images. Animation only loads after right-clicking and going to image info.

    You have the image.animation_mode set to none as you can see in the System Details List.
    *image.animation_mode: none
    You need on of the other (normal or once)

  • Importing only songs to music folder, NOT videos?

    OK, so here's my problem... I have probably 25+ gig's of Movies, and only have about 15 GB's of space left on my laptop. (I have a LOT of music, TV shows, etc...)
    I would like to know if there is a way to get iTunes to import music ONLY into the iTunes music folder, and leave videos and such at their source (a 500GB external drive).
    I obviously could copy the music manually, but that means it is no longer organized in the iTunes folder.

    Note - You don't need to copy them to the HD first,
    as btabz suggested.
    There are different ways to import music. You can copy them (the music files) onto the HD wherever you want and then import into iTunes, or have iTunes import directly off the DVD and put the files in the iTunes Music Folder. Both ways get the music into iTunes and stored on your HD. It depends if you want the music in the iTunes Music folder or not. With the way I suggested, the music is placed where you want, instead of having iTunes put it where it wants.
    Both ways will work fine though.

  • Exporting movies in iPhoto using 'Current' Setting, exports the first frame only

    Hi,
    When I export my iPhoto library into separate events using the 'Current' Setting, it exports all video / movie files as the original file type with a single frame in it.
    I don't want to go through each event and drag and drop each video to the exported folder as that would be an enormous pain.  Does anyone have ideas to fix this?  I have edited some photos, so I don't want to export as 'original' if possible
    Thanks!
    iPhoto has the latest updates installed and the original videos play perfectly in iPhoto.

    Yeah, I have upgraded from previous iPhoto versions, some videos are a few years old (.MOV iPhone format) and some are only a few months old (Canon EOS .MOV format), both export only first frame.  I might have to recreate my iPhoto library and start fresh!  Currently I am exporting as 'Original' and 'Current' to two different folders, and just grabbing the videos from the original and replacing the videos in the 'Current' folder.
    LarryHN's solution works well, but when I add a second condition to select a specific event, I can't choose from a list of specific events (unlike albums).  Entering in the event title (in the Event condition) sometimes adds videos from silmilar titled events.

  • Rotoscoping - it only roto's the first frame

    What I have done:
    Created a video clip with my Canon GL2 featuring a person against a bright background.
    I then used Adobe Premier CS5 to create an AVI of the sequence. (called it ROTO4.avi)
    I then opened CS5 After Effects, imported the clip into the composition timeline.
    I then changed the framerate of the composition to 59.94 (cause a previous attempt told me to do so).
    I then went under LAYER and Open New Layer.
    I then clicked the TOP rotobrush icon (can't find another one anywhere) and began outlining my subject and de-outlining the background. I have a perfect pink line around my subject (on frame1).
    I then drag the timeline bar and it creates the (mask?) on the first frame only and no subsequent frames.
    I switch to composition view and sure enough the first frame is beautiful (subject complete, background now a black screen), but no other frames are generated rotoscooped.
    Arghhh, I've been at this for about an hour and only first frame is ROTO'd.
    Help?
    Montie

    Montie - this is the line that I have the most suspicion about:
    I then drag the timeline bar.
    What exactly are you dragging?
    The recommended way to engage Rotobrush at this point is to press Page Down to move forward a frame, or press the spacebar to begin preview, not to jump to the end of your footage. Rotobrush only analyzes frames under the playhead, and only frames that are inside a span of time near the base frame you drew the strokes on. So if you move the playhead beyond the span it won't have any frames to analyze.
    This is what a Rotobrush span looks like. The span is the gray area with < and > arrows, the base frame is the yellow mark, and the analyzed frames are the green marks extending from the base frame mark.
    Read here about base frames and spans.
    To me it sounds like you are expecting Rotobrush to do all the work magically when you go to the end of your footage, and that's not the case. It needs to analyze each frame, and you need to keep an eye on the analysis because Rotobrush isn't actually magic, it's just some very cool math.
    Note the part in that document about the default span length: 20 frames forward and 20 frames backward. The reason for the short length is because the farther you get from a base frame the larger the probability for inaccuracies. As you move forward through each frame, check for inaccuracies and draw new strokes as necessary. Each time you draw a stroke, a new base frame is created and the span is extended. If you happen to have a sequence of 20 frames that don't need corrections, you can extend the length of the span and continue. (You could extend the span to the entire length of your clip, but you still need to pay attention to the analysis and make corrections.)
    I hope that helps.

  • CS5 fails to import first frame of QT

    I'm having a problem I've encountered before CS5, which is that Photoshop is failing to import the first frame of a .mov file. I render a video from After Effects, Animation compression, Best quality. I check it in QuickTime, and all the frames are there. I open it in Photoshop, and the first frame I get is actually the second frame of the file. No way to access the first frame in Photoshop.
    Any insights?
