Iphoto in fullscreen?

I just upgraded to Lion,  still getting the hang of it.  But I cant get iPhoto to open in fullscreen.   I have iPhoto 09.  Do I need to upgrade in order to do so?   I really hope not.

'09 apps will not go to full screen.

  • IPhoto on fullscreen freezes when iPhone is connected (lion 10.7)

I seem to have a rare problem with my iPhoto.
I pop up my iPhoto, on fullscreen on OSX 10.7 Lion.
I have iTunes up and running as well on full screen but not sure if this matters.
When I pop in my iPhone, my iPhoto seems to freeze -- probably happens when the iPhoto tries to view the pictures in my iPhone..  Anyone else have this issue?  I'm not sure if I should report it to apple...
This only happens when i have iPhoto on full screen, on Lion.  But happens on both my Air and Macbook Pro...

If that's the case, then that could be the issue LOL.
    Thanks, I didnt know that.
I hope a remedy is on the way (if they plan to)...

  • Iphoto no fullscreen icon. and does autosave work for you all?

Hello all! I just updated to Lion today. I am a little confused because I thought iphoto is supposed to have fullscreen option now? There's no fullscreen icon on the top right corner for me. I have a 2009 macbook pro. Is it because it's too old?
Another question. Are Word and Pages supposed to save automatically with Lion? Mine still ask me to save when I close the apps. Need help!
    Thanks in advance!

iPhoto from the iLife '11 suite does have the fullscreen mode. Do you have this version and all the software updates installed?
iWork has an update for Lion to make use of the new features like Versions, Autosave, Fullscreen.
    Word, not so much.

  • IPhoto 06 fullscreen + edit mode issue

    hi!
edit mode doesn't work: where the photo should be displayed, there is just the white background.
fullscreen mode doesn't work, too: clicking on the icon makes the screen become black (menu bar still visible) and then iphoto hangs. (disk permissions already repaired + same issue on another user account)
any ideas? anyone has the same problems?
    thanks. k!
    Powermac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I found this on another page and it fixed all the problems!
Ok for all those people that had the same problem:
    Open a terminal window : less /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleAppSupport.framework/Versions/Current/Re sources/version.plist
If in there you see a version number that is 1.2 then you have found your problem, it should be version 1.4 and has been causing problems for many.
If you have version 1.2 rather than 1.4 then do the following in terminal : mv /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleAppSupport.framework /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleAppSupport.framework.old
    Then with your Tiger install DVD inserted then : cp -pr /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ DVD/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleAppSupport.framework /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/
If you have a tiger update DVD then use the following : cp -pr /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Update\ DVD/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppleAppSupport.framework /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/
You probably need to do a "sudo bash" (and enter your password) to start with to become the root user. This will create a shell running as root - the superuser.
    I hope this helps.

  • IPhoto 11: Any way of displaying the sidebar in fullscreen mode?

I find it really annoying that whenever I import an image or photo that I downloaded, iPhoto exits fullscreen mode.
Also, when I want to browse the photos in my iphone I also have to exit fullscreen mode.
Any chance Apple may add the option in a future upgrade?

No one outside of Apple knows what plans they have - if any - for iPhoto.

  • Why are iPhotos previews higher quality than my exports?

I have just now noticed this after using it for so long. I was using it to de-noise  a photo I took earlier today and turned it up to 100%. I looks clean and smooth like I want, so I exported it first as a jpeg with max quality, but I noticed a lot of noise in it. So I exported it again as an original and it looks the same still. I just exported it as Current to see if there is still noise, and there is. I have exhausted the other formats as well, all export with noise.
I put iPhoto in fullscreen mode and took a screen cap of the photo via cmd+shift+4, and compared the the screen cap to both of the exports and it looks much cleaner, even though its more than half the resolution being displayed.
This is not right, plain and simple.
Here are two links, one to the original export, and the other is a screen cap.

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/68608/Screen%20Shot%202011-08-06%20at%2010.06.48%20PM.pn g
What am I doing wrong? Are my eyes playing tricks?

I just came to my local Apple dealer to get help and they have never encountered this before. Questions they asked that made it less clear for them; they were shot in jpeg and I have exported using every setting all yielding the same results.
This sounds to be a software issue and I encourage Apple's staff to investigate it.

  • Display Dithering (poor quality?)

    A couple display observations:
    - On light gray screens, such as the first bootup screen, noise/grain is detectable.
    - Once in Leopard, display dithering is apparent. For example, hide the dock and look at the darker gradients towards the bottom of the default screen background. Also, look at gradients, such as those in iPhoto's fullscreen viewing mode's toolbar
Have you noticed display dithering on the Macbook Air?

    Hiya!
Gee...this is beginning to remind me of the screen problems that people were initially reporting with the iPod touch when they managed to get them . :S Perhaps you might want to try a monitor test of some kind to see how the colors on your screen are supposed to look? Something like this:
    http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/
Maybe you'll want to see how your screen does if you load up that page first and look at the graphics on it. If something's wrong and you have to go to the Apple Store to have a Genius look at your MBA, you can try loading up this page to show them what's going on.

  • G5 ticking noise

ok i know this has probably been covered but...
on my g5 (oem ATI radeon 9600 pro 64mb) it seems like maybe it's my video card making a ticking noise when scrolling with the mouse or doing other actions affecting the GUI. i can 100% reproduce the noise when using coverflow in iTunes and scrolling through the album art. i can 100% kill the ticking noise by launching the latest retail ATI installer (which will supposedly do nothing for Tiger users) and just leaving it on the install screen without actually installing it.
    What The F*?
should i just leave the installer launched all the time? i guess it's less annoying than hearing that stupid ticking noise out of the back of the g5. knowing that it's possible to kill the sound with a workaround like this makes me think there should be a simple fix. and please don't anyone mention CHUD.

that shoulda been "actually", for some reason i have no editing privileges...
i can also recreate the sound (actually it's a slightly different sound) by using iPhoto in Fullscreen mode and using the arrow keys to advance the images. again the sound is gone if i have the ATI installer launched and set to the "install" screen without actually pressing install.

  • How to I get iPhoto to stop opening in fullscreen mode?

Every time I open iPhoto, it opens in fullscreen mode. It's as if there is a setting that has been set for it to do it(though I've checked the settings and there's no such thing). I usually exit fullscreen mode in the usual way and it cooperates, but then sure enough, the next time I open it up, it's in fullscreen mode again. Additionally, perhaps it is linked to this problem, everytime I open iPhoto, it tells me that "iPhoto has detected inconsistencies in your[my] library" and that I should "click Repair to avoid any potential problems". I've clicked repair numerous times but it still gives me the same message the next time I start the program. I've tried deleting the iPhoto plist file and that has not helped either.
Another side note that may be similar is that Terminal always opens in fullscreen just like iPhoto.

    Alright, I fixed the problem!
A more in depth description of the process, some credit for its origins, why it works, and how else you can use it can be found here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/17269094#17269094
But basically, you do the following:
    1. Navigate to "~/Library/Saved Application State/"
    2. Find "com.apple.iPhoto.savedState"
    3. Move it to the Trash
    4. Launch iPhoto
Also, to solve the issue involving "Repairing" the Library, I had to navigate to the file "iPhoto library" (in ~/Users/dro8654/Pictures) and edit its "Sharing & Permissions" preferences such that only MY user was allowed to "Read & Write"
This discussion was what helped me with this:

  • Thumbnails lost contact with originals in iPhoto '09 (8.1.2.) – can't view fullscreen or edit!

Over the past days my headache over the iPhoto '09 library has gone from bad to worse.
Starting with a few albums and events from last year, iPhoto has stopped displaying some photos (mainly landscape-oriented photos, upright photos seem to be working fine most of them) in fullscreen, edit mode and slideshows.
Browsing through the apple community I've realized that this issue may be due to thumbnails losing contact with original photos. Indeed, I can't seem to export photos to desktop or any other location. "Show original file" or "show file" only opens an empty Finder window, doesn't connect with the Picture folder or anything.
I've also tried entering the Library manually from another working photo, and can't seem to locate a number of pics. It seems the originals are simply lost.
Some of the missing pictures are irreplacable (like my son's birth!).
I'd be INCREDIBLY THANKFUL for any advice on how to save these photos.
    Cheers/ AB

The simple and surefire solution is to restore from back up.
If files are missing then that's the only solution.
    To rebuild the Library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Anyone using the magic trackpad with iPhoto 11 in fullscreen mode?

I love fullscreen mode in the new release of iPhoto. Does the magic trackpad make it more iPad/phone like?

To answer you question, no. I have the trackpad and it does NOT make the experience any different than it is on a laptop. There is NOT any iPad like gestures that are included in the Photo App on the iPad. I thought there would be some but unfortunately there are not magic things LIKE the iPad

  • Fullscreen view in iphoto 9.2.3

I am unable to view fullscreen view in iphoto 9.2.3 except in edit. When I double click on picture - nothing happens. How can I restore full screen view?

Migration assistance does not handle the iPhoto library well sometimes - the best way is to drag the bad iphoto library from the pictures folder on the new system to the desktop, connect the two systems together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old system to the pictures folder of the new system and launch iPhoto on the new system - it will open and convert the iPhoto library as necessary and you will be fine - once you test the iPhoto library you can delete the one on the desktop

  • Iphoto 11 always "fullscreen" on 13''?

Hi, I love the new fullscreen-view, but I also often like to work with the normal window-view. I am on a MacBook Pro 13'' and iphoto 11 in window-view takes up the whole screen by default and there's no way to make it smaller (only to make it bigger than the screen actually is, which makes no sense at all). Is this normal? If so, is there a way to resize the window?
    Thank you very much!

I have the same problem with my iPhoto 11.
It’s not possible to resize the window!

  • IPhoto can't be viewed unless in fullscreen. Shows up when I press F3., iPhoto can't be viewed unless in fullscreen, but shows up when I press F3.

Whenever I launch iPhoto, it does not show up as the small window. If I press F3 to show all open applications, the iPhoto window will appear, but when I try to click into it, it disappears into the bottom left corner of the screen. I can only view iPhoto if I go to View > Enter Full Screen. As you can tell from the image, even when the toolbar shows up, the window doesn't.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • IPhoto green corrupted screen in fullscreen edit mode when adjusting shadow

I am using iPhoto '09 version 8.1.1 and was editing a photo in full screen mode. Operating system is 10.6.2 and the machine is a MacBook Pro 15" 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo. Graphics card is ATI Radeon X1600.
I moved to the next photo but then arrowed back and saw a screen similar to the image in the link below. It obviously looks like bad corruption with the video card. The strange thing is it only happens when I adjust shadows in full screen mode. If I alter exposure the photos are fine. Also this only seems to happen in full screen mode. If the photos are in a window then they look fine. If you reset the photo everything is normal.
    http://gallery.me.com/rsquires#100177/iPhoto%20Corruption
It looks like a graphics card issue but it is a pain
any ideas would be greatly appreciated
It feels like something for a genius to look at, at an Apple store
    all the best
    Richard Squires

I have a 2006 iMac with the same ATI Radeon 1600 card and a variation on the same issue - I get the "corrupted" image very similar to what you show, but it often occurs in iPhoto when editing in regular (not full screen) mode as well.
Here is a shot from earlier today in non-full-screen mode:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/613804/BadiPhoto.jpg
Same predominantly green mess. It also occurs in one other app, Times (news viewer). In both cases the behavior is quite random - I can edit many photos without issue, then all of the sudden this starts to occur. Even "re-editing" the same photo may give different results. Fortunately, the data is unaffected.
    I'd love a fix!
