why is ordering a calendar with my own pictures so HARD...I can get it from Walmart or Walgreens but not Apple???

Uninstall "BitDefender" completely, not just the Safari extension.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, the uninstallation may have no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software. -
Places look-up crashes iPhoto '09 8.1.2 when behind a proxy server
Places in iPhoto was always a problem for those imprisoned behind a proxy server, however since the 8.1.2 update this has caused iPhoto to hang forever when iPhoto tries to add new places automatically, E.G. when you plug your iPhone in.
As a work-around I deleted com.apple.iPhoto.plist from my Username > Library >Preferences folder and then told it not to look up locations automatically when it asked about it on startup.
Not ideal but it does work without hanging now!

Power Mac G5 being a pain in the behind
So, I've got my Power Mac G5 here, Dual 2 GHz, 2 gigs of ram, and it just hates me. The problem now is that with the air deflector shield in place the front 2 fans for the processor are running at full power but without the air deflector shield they barley turn to the point where processor 0 gets so hot you could probably just stick some corn wrapped in foil in there, stick the side on it, wait 15 minutes and have a snack.
I don't have a hardware test disk so I can't test this (I got it with no drives and mismatching ram) and I contacted the local apple repair guy and he said it would cost between $200-500 to fix it and if I had that much I would go on Craigslist and buy a second hand Mac Mini or something newer than a PPC mac.512 Mb of DDR400 ram

Now, it's using the ECC part of the ram
It cannot use the "ECC part" without a compatible memory controller.
You can say that the machine is running with ECC RAM installed, but you cannot say that the ECC is being used and supported.
Halfway through the Mac OS install it froze and all the fans went back up to full speed.
Did it pass calibration?
Do both CPUs report?
I would want at least one pair of known good, properly specified Mac compatible RAM installed in the machine before further testing.

I'm trying to troubleshoot a recent recurring problem with my DSL service... Problem follows:
Usually after editing a fair number of large photos on iPhoto (each RAW file is at least 17Mb before processing), my DSL service will be interrupted. Ocasionally, my Time Capsule will begin to back up via Time Machine prior to this interruption (but not always). A common thread seems to be that after editing a lot of pictures, my iMac G-5 will have a large number of Swapfiles on its HD. In the past, prior to needing to edit large photo files, my swapfiles could become quite large without affecting my DSL service...
Resetting the DSL modem generally does not fix the problem. Restarting the iMac seems to fix the DSL problem (but is a bit of a pain in the behind). I replaced the DSL Modem a couple of months ago, and have been disconnecting the two phones that have DSL filters on them, in an attempt to isolate the problem, but don't seem to be able to pinpoint a problem with the phones or DSL filters.
Any thoughts? I'm getting ready to run Applejack to see if cleaning out all the caches will help (if there's the possibility of a queer process or file goofing with my system...)

This problem cropped up a few more times...
I noticed that a 12 Volt battery that provides backup power to an alarm system (phone line reporting type...) was showing a low voltage message on our alarm pad...It had been a problem for several weeks, but had't failed, so I was going to wait to replace it.
Then Ii dawned on me that this was probably sending a warning message to the alarm company (which would inturrupt our DSL service)...
I replaced the 12V battery, and the DSL drop problem was gone...

When I open iPhoto 9.2.1 it says that my library needs to be upgraded but when I upgrade the library I am trying to open (33 GB worth of pictures from 2006) the new application says it cannot read the files and how to find them on the system to reimport?! and then I'd like to erase the original files since the space requirement is huge!!!! Why is upgrading software iPhoto such a pain. I've gotta get a presentation done and all I get for my money is roadblock!!!
hello, it sounds like the library is damaged.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. -
Why did I lose my iPhoto when upgrading to Mavericks. I have a mid 2009 13" Macbook Pro

I have the exact same issue. Mid 2010 MBP. I ran software update before the upgrade, ran the upgrade, no longer have iLife / iWork (Garage Band, Pages etc) all gone.
All I can think to do is dig out my disks which are burried away with the box.
Ive upgraded the through Lion, Leopard etc and this has not happened. Also, JRE/JDK uninstalled itself so I had to reinstall that and Netbeans.
All in all a pretty crap update. Losing iPhoto is a pain in the neck and really should not have happened. I have an email out with App Store support. I am not paying £10+ to re-download something I already technically own! -
How to get iphoto 09 and lightroom to play nicely together?

When I'm done with the edit, I save and the edited photo shows up in iphoto and the original is saved behind the scenes. Lightroom, as well as Aperature doesn't have a save function, they boyh have an export function which is not the same as save. My edited and exported photo never makes it to the edit folder which has to be created by iphoto the first time you edit a photo in an event. Anybody have an idea how I can get lightroom to play nicely with iphoto?

JAWYou can't. You're confusing Lightroom and Aperture with an image editor.
Lightroom, as well as Aperature doesn't have a save function, they boyh have an export function which is not the same as save.
They work very differently from iPhoto. Where iPhoto saves your edits in a new file, these apps don't. Instead they record your decisions in their database and when you view a photo these are applied live on top of the original. So, your edits are saved, just in an totally lossless way.
You cannot use either Lightroom or Aperture as an external editor with iPhoto for the very simple reason that neither of them is an "editor". They, like iPhoto, are Digitial Asset Managers. Like iPhoto they have powerful abilities to post-process a photo, but that's not the same as "editing". You can't add things to a photo - like text or layers, and your ability to remove things is quite limited - though not as limited as iPhoto. Both are specifically optimised for working with Raw formats rather than Jpeg.
To use something as an external editor it will need to be a: an editor and b: have no database or image management ambitions.
In order of price here are some suggestions:

There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

Can't find iPhoto photos after downgrading to Snow Leopard from Lion
I had my photos on my External Hard Drive being used as a backup for TIme Machine.
After downgrading to Snow Leopard from Lion (my computer was running rediculusly slow likely due to being so close to the minimum requirements), I can not access any of my Time Machine dates prior to the date I downgraded. I have reinstalled Lion to try to access the files that way, but am having issues finding my old photos.
Any help would be appreciated as I've got about 15000 photos of my kids on there.There are issues with iphoto which changes versions..
I would strongly recommend you do an archive of the TC before you do any more playing.
I presume the TC is the only place you have these photos stored??? So your entire library is hard disk erase from total annilahation.. not good!!
Load a real utility into Lion.. archive is not present on the new version.. why apple why??

a) it seems that you have only 512 Mb Ram. probably, another 512 or 1024 MB would help for everything what you do.

b) you say : " over 4k photos ": If each photo is 2.5 MB, you deal with a total of 10 GB. (I suppose for lack of otehr info a 5 Mpxl camera, which gives about that size photos.) Well, I know that the data storage is organized such that not all the file has to be read in order to get one specific part read into memory. I would safe the photos on a cd or dvd (i do that anyhow), then "clean up" (i mean: eliminate that what i don't want to use right now). I have a little less than 2 k photos, and iphoto works just fine and fast for me.

Is there any way to avoid rebuilding my iPhone 4 every 6 weeks when "OTHER" fills up my memory?
I am sick of rebuilding my iphone 4 every 6 weeks: setting up as a new phone, installing the apps again, reconfiguring them, rearranging them how I like them.
It's a pain in the behind and a very good advertisement for Android at the moment.
Is there a way to stop this from happening?
It's to the point now that I call each build as "My iPhone (build YYYYMMDD)". So today's fresh install underway is Build 20120324. The last one was 20120214.
The best Apple "support" could offer was to rebuild as a new iPhone each time.
So, with "Other" growing in 6 weeks from <1GB to 5.3 today (when it filled my phone's memory), is there any way to stop this?

GEF.If you're restoring your phone so often, I'm minded to think it's something to do with one or more of the Apps and not the phone/iOS itself, (it's unlikely you'd get the same bug everytime).
Use your phone for a few days and make a note of long it takes for 'other' to build. Then restore as new but this time only sync the apps you really need. Again, make a note of long it takes for 'other' to build.
Maybe a process of elimination will tell? -
Elements 9 Organizer only imports one folder at a time
Well I purchased Elements 9 after not being happy with the products included with my camera's.
System is an i950 processor, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, 12 GB RAM, 120GB SSD and a 1 TB hard drive. Basically a system that gives me no trouble with any other software, for the most part, crash free.
I have a home server that runs on a gigabit network.
Pictures folder has about 25000 pictures.
My biggest problem from the beginning was importing my pictures.
I would do an import on the mapped drive for Photos and not all would be imported when I checked back later.
Then the issues increased when I would go in and actually try to import more than one folder at a time. All that would happen would be that the first folders contents would get imported but the second folder would get ignored.
If I highlighted 10 folders, only the first one would import.
Big big pain in the behind when you have things organized properly.
Also, must say that the organizer portion is buggy. Crashes a lot, and on a system like mine it shouldn't be slow to react which it is.
Haven't even got to the editor portion yet. Hope it isn't worse.

Now I don't think this is just one person having the issue, in fact I would check on Amazon as there are a few reviews that state the same type of problems.
Editing seems to be great, it is the organizer that is the issue.
I do feel that Adobe took their time responding on here as you can see from some of the comments.
Being a director for a company that does managed services and network support for customers, I do understand the need for responses in a reasonable amount of time.
I am running off a home server in response to your question.
I have a C: drive that is a 120 GB SSD with 60 GB free.
I have a D drive that is a 1TB drive with over 700 GB free.
1 Gb wired network connection to 1 Gb switches. As I said, I manage an IT company, plus I have 2 degrees in computer science and have been working with PC's since DOS 5, and computers since 1979. I have checked the obvious, and also run Pinnacle Media Studio 14 on the same system and have no issues with anything, and that is video.
If you don't recommend working with files off a network, then this should be stated up front, not as a response to a problem.
Again, no problem with Microsofts built in applications getting pictures, tagging them, and doing face recognition on the same files and folders.
Tried what you suggested.
Have a family folder that has 7 subfolders relating to different people.
Tried to import the family folder....it did, with nothing in it. Had to import the subfolders individually.
Are you being smart with your "awesome" comment?
If you aren't, you may want to rethink how you respond to customers.
Again, this coming from someone who manages service people in this industry.
At the end of all of this, many people are having similar problems due to this slowing down, running things in the background, etc.
If you want to be in a state of blaming the individuals or the network protocols, or what we shouldn't do, then continue and customers will speak with their dollars and their voices on other forums as they are doing right now.
I think Adobe would be much further ahead if they accepted that there are issues and let us buyers know that they are working on it and will fix it.
We will see how the responses you get from others pan out.
As of now, I am using the live gallery that you can download with Windows Live Essentials to organize and it does a great job so far.
Imported all my pictures from my mapped drive, subfolders intact, in fact, I just told it where my picture folders were and it did the rest on it's own.
Just would have been nice having one program to do it all. -
Is there a way to have iTunes 11.0 (Windows) automatically login with my apple id?
This is really annoying for me. I just transferred my music from a legacy iMac to my newer machine. That process itself was a pain in the behind, because I was also going form iTunes 10 to iTunes 11, but that's neither here nor there.
However, in the course of doing this, I had the dubious pleasure of logging in with my Apple Id multiple times. As I almost never use iTunes to buy music anymore (I honestly wouldn't bother using it at all if a lot of my music didn't have that old drm from years ago), I can never remember this thing. Is there a way to store my Apple Id password within iTunes so I don't have to dig it out the one or two times a year I actually use it?Are you sharing one AppleID or do you have separate IDs?
If you have separate AppleIDs, then it's easiest to create a user account for each of you on the computer, and log into iTunes with your respective IDs on each account. This will keep everything separate. There is no problem authorizing content for multiple AppleIDs on the same computer.
HOWEVER, you can only re-download, auto-download, or use Match for one AppleID *per computer* (not per account), and this can only change every 90 days.
If you share an AppleID, then in principle, you can sync both devices to the same user account, but it's difficult to separate contact lists, so it's still easiest to have two user accounts, even if you use the same AppleID on each. This will allow you have separate contact and calendar lists; however, you will NOT have the option of syncing them to the cloud (make sure to turn this option OFF), as having a single AppleID would cause them to merge. -

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but over several years and several itouch, iphones and now an ipad I tried several free apps that I latter decided I didn't like or didn't want to pay the maintenance fee so I deleted the apps from the device but with then new iTunes I can't even figure out how to hide them.
I'm finding some updates to iTunes nice but others a huge pain in the behind can some one help me hide unwanted apps from the list in iTunes 12.1.1.4. To be honest I would prefer to delete them totally but as near as I can tell you can't. Can someone please help me hide them, do I don't hit the little cloud icon on an app in the app store, and re-install the app I don't want.You are welcome.
