IPhoto is deleting my pictures after I upload and edit them

I uploaded a bunch of pictures to iPhoto and the program has continuously been deleting my photos or it has been saying that the files do not exist even though the pictures show up in the program as thumbnails.
Is there a reason the program deletes only photos that I edit?
I really need help with this one

1 - iPhoto does nto ever "delete" a photo unless you tell it to
2 - what is the exact error message you are getting? What exactly are you seeing?
3 - in the iPhoto preferences is the preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library checked (default) or have you unchecked it?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. *Permissions in the Library* : Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. *Minor Database corruption*: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. *A Damaged Photo*: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. *A corrupted iPhoto Cache*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
5. *A corrupted preference file*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
*If none of these help*:
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

I cannot see my Iphone 4 in my device window in the finder anymore. It use to appear so I could copy the camera pictures off of it and transfer them to other folders. Does anyone have and idea how to get it back when you plug it in initially. Thanks

You will want to open iPhoto, go to the iPhoto menu and select Preferences. Under the General tab, next to Connecting camera opens: select iPhoto. Close the preferences and quit iPhoto. Reconnect your iPhone 4. iPhoto should open automatically and offer to import your pictures. Import them and then do what you want with them.

If you are using iCloud Photo Library and delete them from any device they will be deleted from iCloud and from all devices using iCloud Photo Library. If you want to reduce the storage space required on your Mac the following quote from iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support may help:

You can upload files to Dropbox and edit them with Quickoffice Pro HD.

I open the drive... and there are 4 folders, contacts, calendar, notes and photos (in photos there is a folder called thumbs and a file called photo database) Not to mention my music is nowhere to be found on the drive...

If you only copied the photos as thumbnails (and it seems you did), you can't do this by enabling disk use and dragging the photos from iPod to computer so you'll need a program such as this one.

Hi EJJ111,
When you hook your iPad to your Computer, you will see it listed under Devices. Click on it, and then you will see a window to the right that shows all of your Device Profile pages. You will see a tab for Photos. Click on that tab. There you should see the option to sync all photos, or selected, events, photos, albums, etc.
Select what you want sync'd and then sync the device. The photos you have selected will download to your device.

IPhotos won't show pictures after replacing Harddrive

Hi,
Recently I had my Harddrive replaced to a larger one and I was told everything would be transferred over. However when I got the MAC Book back there was no iPhoto application so I had to re-install the iLife disc. Once I did this it automatically imported all the pictures back on to iPhoto's and all the albums have come back however the pictures are grayed out and I cannot view them.
I have tried the command & control suggestion but none of the options work. I have also tried to rebuild using iPhoto manager but I get an error saying something along the lines of 'cannot rebuild as orignal files cannot be found'.
Unfortunately I was not able to back any of it up as my other hardrive was full & would not complete the back-up but I was told it was not necessary as it would all be transfered across.
Is there any other options that anyone can sugguest? I have over 6,000 pictures scanning the past 5 years which I really cannot loose.

Are your photo in the Masters (or Originals) folder. That's a straight yes or no.

I marked some photos to import to iphoto. Iphoto asked if I wanted to delete these photos from iphone and i klicked yes.
Iphoto then deleted all of my photos from my iphone.
I cannot find that itunes has made a copy before either.

Does anyone else have trouble with IPhoto losing pictures after they've been edited?

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem, or if it's just me.
IPhoto has a nasty habit of losing my photos, usually after I've edited them. I look in both the IPhoto Trash and the desktop trash, but they aren't there. I can see them in IPhoto (and can even click on them to edit them again), but if I try to export them or attach them to an email, I get a message saying the file contains 0 kb.
Very frustrating! Especially since I'm being paid to do the photos.
Any suggestions or ideas?

Do a revert to original on a couple of those photos and try again to export or email. Do they export or email OK? As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

No, you can't. If you have created albums on the iPad and think that there are copies of the photos in those albums, that is not how it works. The albums created on the iPad merely contain pointers to the photos in the camera roll or to any synced photos that you have. If you delete the photos from the camera roll, they will be deleted everywhere and will be gone.

After exporting my pictures from lightroom 3 and take them to photo lab to print pictures are never right size. example 4x6 chops off some of pictures. Help

You need to crop them before you export them and take them to a print shop.
4x6 is a standard 3/2 ratio, 2 x 3 = 6 and 2 x 2 = 4. 90% of cameras on the market use that ratio as a sensor size. There are also 4/3, 16/9 and 1/1 ratio cameras. Which camera do you use, make and model?
More than likely the camera you are using is either a 4/3 or you have it set to take image in either the 4/3 or 16/9 ratio. If you ask the photo lab to print them as they are, No Cropping, you will get the whole image with a larger white boarder either on the top/bottom or sides.
You can crop them to a specific ratio in LR so they fit better on 4x6 paper and contain the image parts you most like.
It really has nothing to do with exporting and or exporting setting. It does have to do with the size, ratio, of the image you are exporting and taking to the print place.
