  • IPhoto - My iPhoto is not responding. When I click on iPhoto I get a never ending spinning beachball.  I almost think it is looking in the wrong place for the pictures.  How do I redirect it back to the Mac hard drive?

My iPhoto is not responding.  Whenever I click on the iPhoto icon I get a twirling beachball.  It is as if the machine is looking in the wrong place for the photos.  How can I see where the machine is looking to find out if this is really the problem.  How can I see the path?

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then the problem lies with your current library.
If that's the case  Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Iphoto does not respond with batch change

Recently, when I do a batch change for example "descriptions" iphoto does not respond.  I tried to see if it was the number of pictures that I was batch changing but it freezes even with one photo.  I tried rebuilding thumbnails.  Any ideas?

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Iphoto is not responding. I just finished importing all of my downloaded pictures (about 1,000) into iPhoto now this happens. I have version 9.5.1

iphoto is not responding. I just finished importing all of my downloaded pictures (about 1,000) into iPhoto now this happens. I have version 9.5.1. I am using OS X 10.9.5

Did you import an iPhoto Library from the old Hard Drive? Do you still have that old Library?
The way to clear out a Library is to Export the photos - Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
    For the annoying start-up message:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

  • Iphoto is not responding. I get the message, "Your photo library was  not found. Do you want to find your iPhoto Library?

IPhoto is not responding except with the message: " Your photo library was not found.  Do you want to find your iPhoto Library".  Then, "iPhoto can't continue without a photo library. Make sure the disk containing your iPhoto Library is connected.
    1. What disk are they talking about?
    2. I can access my photos by clicking on ALL IMAGES in SEARCH FOR.
    3. If I trash iphoto and re-install from my Install Disc 1, will I lose the photos?
    4. If so, what can I do to save my photos and get iPhoto working?
I have an iMac with 10.6.8.

    What version of iPhoto?
Is there an iPhoto Library in your Pictures folder?

  • Chose a photo to print, then the screen went grey (spinning white icon), and iPhoto will not respond

I chose a picture to print, but instead of a print dialogue box, the screen went grey and iPhoto will not respond.  I have even shut down my iMac completely, but when I relaunch iPhoto, I get the same screen (grey with the spinning "thinking" icon).  I am running the latest version of Yosemite on the iMac.  Thanks for your help.

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair the database  and if necessary rebuild your database

  • When I try to download pictures my iphoto will not respond

When I plug in my memory stick pro duo card reader iphoto opens up and displays the download communication and the rotating circle however it just keeps doing this and never downloads my pictures.  When I force quit it says the iphoto is not responding.
Not sure what the problem is.  It was working fine and now is not.

Can you access the material on the stick using Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) ?

    Hi Buterem,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your MacBook Pro since your recent Yosemite update. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issue you are describing. If you are having intermittent but persistent responsiveness issues with your mouse or trackpad, you may want to try using Activity Monitor to see if these incidents correspond to occupied system resources, especially system memory or CPU. You may find the following article helpful:

If the entire system hangs or locks up (for example, if the system clock freezes and stops counting up), you may also be experiencing some variety of Kernel Panic. If that is the case, you may also find this article useful:

Just purchased Mac Book,   VERY  new to Mac world,   "ouch",,  I am looking to design my own website,,  is there a program built in that will allow this,  if so,, what is it called, and where can I find it???   Thanks,

There are many ways and applications that you can use to build a web site. Which will be best for you will depend on the site you want to build and your level of expertise. Many experienced web developers just use a text editor, often one with specialized features for web programming (BBEdit, for example), but there are programs that can offer additional help, up to and including "drag and drop". Without knowing more about your needs, it's difficult to offer specific advice, but here are some possibilities:
iWeb - came with your Mac. Easy to build but rather limiting in what you can do.
RapidWeaver - more flexible and capable than iWeb but harder to use; sort of an "inbetweener" application
Dreamweaver - powerful but expensive and a steep learning curve
There are of course a number of other options. If you can provide more detail about what you wish to build and your level of experience, someone can probably make more targeted recommendations.
    Regards.

  • IPhoto not responding on my newer macbook pro after I did the migration

I got a new to me macbook pro,did a migration from my old G4 laptop.
Why do I get iPhoto not responding when I try to import new photos?

Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

  • IPhoto 08 "not responding"

Yesterday on approx my 5th day on leopard iPhoto refuses to work. After starting up i get the spinball and the force quit screen tells me it's not responding. I already deleted the plist, tried to reintstall ipht from te ilife 08 disk but to no avail.
Anybody have any ideas? The local apple helpdesk here in the Netherlands in unreacheable (leopard bugs?)

    Sjanwiep
    The troubleshooting basics:
    1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    2. Delete the com.apple.XXXX.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
    4. Post the Crash Log.
    It's at Home / Library / Logs / Crash-Reporter / iphoto.crash.log
Double click on the file and it will open in the Console. Copy and Paste it in here.

  • When closing FF and then try to go back on, a msg. says FF is already running, but not responding, to open new window you must first close the existing window or restart system. How do i close without restarting?

'This happens after a FF session is ended and am back on my desktop screen. If I then try to go back online a message says that FF is already running but is not responding. To open a new session you must first close the existing process or restart your system. I have to restart the computer to before it allows me to go back on. How can I close the session and then open a new one without rebooting???

    Hey GreenViking,
You can kill the process manually by right clicking in the task bar (next to the time and date) and opening the task manager.
[https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20hangs#w_firefox-hangs-when-you-quit-it This article] has some information about Firefox hanging when you try to close it.
    Hope that helps!

  • InDesign 6 not responding when adding new pages

    Hi folks,
I'm having a continuing problem that sees InDesign 6 "not responding" every time I try to add a new page or duplicate a spread on a document I'm working on.
This doesn't seem to be a problem on a new document - only on my working file, which is due at the printer tomorrow!!
Can anyone offer any advice as to what the problem may be.
Typically, I need an answer ASAP.
    many thanks

Try exporting to .idml and working with that. See Remove minor corruption by exporting

  • HT1423 Lately my iPhoto is not responding a lot, what is causing this?

  • IPhoto is not responding/loading for ever/crashing when I start it

    Hello
I hope anybody out there can help me with this...
So, whenever I click on the iPhoto icon on my iMac, the app launches and the window opens, I can see some of the miniatures of my photos, everything is normal.
But, when I try to scroll down in my mediathek or try to click on something, the colorful wait rotation starts..or the rotation wheel. whatever, I can´t do ANYTHING with iPhoto, I cannot use it anymore, but I really need to!
I tried everything, like force quit and start the app new, also shut down the iMac and do a restart and then trying it again, nothing!
It's always the same...evey starting iPhoto by simultanely pressing cmd + alt and then "repairing"...doesn't work.
and, needless to say, when I connect my iPhone with the iMac, iPhoto doesn't recognize the phone...but it's not working anyway. -.-
Infos about the iMac and the iPhoto version:
    iMac 27', OS X 10.7.4, 2.8 GHz, 4GB, etc..
iPhoto: I don't know 'cause when I start it, I cannot even click on "about iPhoto" in the menu, cause everything is loading.. but it's the latest version there is until today, I guess, 'cause I did the last update not longer than a week ago.
I also had the same problem with my Macbook Pro, but that is already over 2 yrs old and I thought it was because it's old and getting slower..
but my iMac is not that old, and I just looked at the hard drive, which is not even half full...
BUT: The iMac works slower than usually, too, and is also running louder (Irealized it just this morning)
Please, can someone help me or give me any tips/hints/information/anything, what I could do about it? Or what the porblems could be?
    I would be very grateful!!
    Thank you in advance.
    Yours, Barbara
