IPhoto is suddenly not responding
Hi,
I'm using OS X version 10.7.5 and iPhoto. It will open and show the most recent upload, but it just keeps loading and loading. I've shut down and restarted several times, with no success.
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )

Iphoto application does not respond
When I attempt to open iPhoto, it does not respond. I have to force quit.
With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what system are you running?
are you runnning iPhoto or Photos?
if iPhoto what version are you using?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive? -

Logic 9 Session Suddenly Not Responding
Greetings,
I am suddenly having issues with a very important Logic session that I have worked on for months (and haven't had any issues with until now). The problem appeared seemingly overnight. I can open this particular session, the files and plug-ins load, and the arrange window is displayed. And then, I cannot do *anything* without getting the color spiral (which spins seemingly forever), until I option+command+escape and see that Logic is not responding. I force quit and get the following details (pasted below).
FYI - I tried to open other Logic Sessions, and all seem to be working fine. I have tried deleting my preferences, opening the session without my audio interface, I have reinstalled my operating system, and a 3rd party plug-in or two (that I suspected was the problem), and the problem remains.
PLEASE HELP!

When you do that, the assigned controller no longer functions as a normal message in Logic, and instead is used to control the currently active automation parameter on the current Arrange track. Try going into the Automation preferences and turn off Automation Quick Access.

IPhoto in Mavericks not responding
iPhoto was doing fine until today. It launches but when I try to do anything with Slideshows it freezes and will not respond. I force quit and relaunch but the same thing happens. Can I re-install iPhoto without losing my thousands of photos and/or slideshows? Can iPhoto max out on space? Thanks
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
Yes, iPhoto can max out on sapce. It's limited to 1,000,000 items -
Apple tv all of a sudden not responding to remote and will not pair
My apple TV will not respond to the aluminum remote it came with. I have tried pairing the remote again by holding the menu and the right button and will not work. I also have changed the battery. The apple tv was able to pair with the remote for my imac, but I would like to have separate remotes. Any ideas?
When I take out the battery of the aluminum remote and then put it back the Apple TV will respond with the 3 blinking lights as if it's not paired. But after a while the Apple TV light will not blink or respond to anything from the aluminum remote. Also, the remote worked fine for over a year.
Not sure if this info suggests anything different then a faulty remote, but just wanted to check.
Thanks for your help. -
HT1338 my iPhoto application is not responding, what can i do to restore it
my iphoto application is not working. it is not responding
Have you tried starting in Safe Mode and see if the problem still occurs?
Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.) -
Iphoto and Itunes not responding after an Apple Software Update
Hi
Afew days ago I did the Apple Software Update and since then I haven't been able to get onto my Itunes or Iphoto, both of which I use quite often. Itunes just doesn't load at all and Iphoto starts to open the page but then that multicoloured ball appears and it doesn't respond. I am just wondering why this is happening and whether it's happened to anyone else at all? Ideally I'd like to get rid of this new update but don't know how to go about it. I'm a bit of a computer dunce so if you could offer any solution in a straightforward way I would be so grateful. Thanks!created a new user account and the same problem arose there as well.
Then you need to re-install iPhoto:
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applcations Folder to the trash)
2. Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only...’
This process will not affect your Library of photos. However: Always back up before an operation like this.

Just installed ilife 06 with iphoto 6 on my 1 GHZ powerbook with OS 10.4.6. I updated to 6.02. After the library has been imported the application isn't responding and I get the spinning beachball and have to force quit. I had the same problem in iphoto 05 which is why I thought I'd try reinstalling with the upgrade would help. I've deleted the iphoto plist pref but that didn't help . Anything else to try to get this to work?
craigI use Iphoto library manager to re-create my library. Works until I import... then it crashes again....

IPhoto '11 suddenly not launching even after reinstalling
I am currently running version 10.6.8 and was using iPhoto '11 for many months without any problems until today! Suddenly slideshows disappeared, so I checked for any updates - which there was one - and downloaded it. I then restarted my computer however afterwards iPhoto wouldn't launch at all! It gives an error message:
"iPhoto cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure iPhoto works with this version of Maac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X."
Tried restarting again just to make sure. Nothing but same error message. So, reinstalled the Life '09 disk (since I had purchased iPhoto '11 online). Even after reinstalling I am only getting the same error message. No idea what to do now... Please help?!Did you trash the Receipts before reinstalling?
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List. -
Why is Version 31.4 suddenly Not Responding
The program seems locked up. It keeps asking for a password that I know it already has ... but it goes into freeze mode whenever I try to type in the password or cancel. Thunderbird 31.4 is working just fine on my other computer.
I've restarted in Safe Mode ... it's taking forever to come on ... and again it asks for a password that it has, but it even when it gets it, it won't authenticate the mail server.
I've managed to open Account Settings ... but navigating is like going through mud ...
What would cause this major failure?
Will uninstall/reinstall fix this? What is your anti-virus software?

I've come to use my iphoto and its is saying that my iphoto library is 'not responding' with the 'beach ball' staying on for ages, and to get out of it I'm proforming a 'force quit' action.
Why all of a sudden has this happened? and can I get to my library or have I lost them all? I've only had my machine since July this year so not a lot of photos stacked up, so it can't be that.
Any help and advice will be gratefully received.
ThanksJackie...
Hold down the Option and Command keys then launch iPhoto.
Select: Repair the iPhoto Library Database then click Rebuild. -
