Iphoto keeps removing my facebook albums

When I log in to iPhoto and go to upload a picture on Facebook, iPhoto will give me an alert saying it has removed other albums that I have in my facebook.
How can I stop it from removing photos?

Best method is to restore your backup copy of the library from just before this occurred. You do have a backup, right?
FWIW iPhoto has been having problems with FB.  The workaround that most have found to be successful is to export the photo to a folder on the Desktop and upload to FB with your browser.
Some users haver reported that upgrading to 10.8.3 has fixed it for them.

  • Iphoto library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Will my Facebook albums remain?

I just upgraded my computer to yosemite and that includes the iPhoto application.
After opening iPhoto it says "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." I'm worried that if I chose to upgrade I will 1. lose all my photos and 2. have my synced facebok albums taken off Facebook.
One time I moved my iPhoto library to an external hard drive and lost all my Facebook album photos so I don't want to make the same mistake.
So does anyone know if I chose to go through with this upgrade will I lose my photos in the iPhoto and the synced albums on Facebook? If I do lose photos, how do I go recover my previous iPhoto version?

Just to confirm. When I saved a copy of my iPhoto library on my external harddrive that's "backing-up" right?
Also, is there anyway on Facebook to tell which albums are synced with my iPhoto so that I know which ones will be gone if something does go wrong?
Sorry one more question Larry. I keep reading issues people are having with upgrading their iPhoto to 9.6 and the upgraded iPhoto does not recognize their library (see: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6676471). If this happens to me and I have to repair or re-install my iPhoto will my Facebook albums be affected?
Thanks for your help Larry I appreciate it

  • Facebook albums removed!  Have to force quit iPhoto

My wife has a Facebook account and this morning uploaded photos from her camera into iPhoto '11. Then she deleted the ones she did not like and edited those she kept. She then highlighted them all. Clicked Share and Facebook and then iPhoto started popping up messages saying that past Facebook albums have been removed. The only way to stop this was to force quit. She has lost about 15 albums.
I restored my whole system from Time Machine and reverted back to iPhoto '09. The Facebook albums are still lost but the rest of the program seems to be running fine.
Can anyone offer any help or advice? Why is this happening?
    Thanks.
    Thom

I am having the same problems as everyone & am going to do what Thom has done & use Time Machine to restore my Macbook Pro to before I installed iLife 11.
I followed all the advice from the Apple Store about installing ILife 11 - I backed up on Time Machine, Installed iLife 11, then did a software update before opening any iLife programs. I have double checked & find that there are no other updates available.
The problems I am having with iPhoto 11 are:-
    1. My Facebook albums are being deleted & the only way to stop this happening is to Force Quit. iPhoto.
    2. There is no longer a list of all my Facebook & Mobile me albums in the left hand side folder list, so I am unable to drag more photos into the albums.
    3. Some of my mobile me galleries have been changed & photos deleted or in the wrong albums.
    4. When emailing photos, there is only the photo templates available to use. Trying to save a photo from the template in the received email is impossible - you only seem to be able to save the whole template. Is there a way of sending multiple photos in a chosen size without the template as in iPhoto 09?
iPhoto 11 is driving me crazy - I daren't even look at iMovie as I dread to think what has happened to that!! I much prefer iPhoto 09!!
Do you think that I can get a refund for iLife 11 if I take it back to the Apple Store?
Off to restore my Macbook & be rid of iLife 11!!

  • Import existing facebook albums to iPhoto?

I know this question has been tossed around a few times after looking at the existing threads, but I am wondering if anyone knows of a way to get iPhoto to recognize and sync an existing Facebook album without creating a new album and moving the photos over? The problem with that is that I lose the initial post on the wall with the album and it also nullifies links I've shared via Twitter to the albums. I've even gone as far as look at possibly modifying the database data, but that seems pretty much impossible to do without corrupting it. I really like the idea of iPhoto syncing and managing Facebook albums, but it seems pretty ridiculous that I can't add existing albums regardless of the quality of the images in them. Anyone agree?

  • Facebook Albums have been deleted, yet still in iphoto - can I get them back on Facebook?

Something has happened on my Facebook account, and all my albums are missing (70+ albums)
However, on iPhoto - All of the Facebook albums still show up under the WEB section.
This would be ok, BUT, when i click onto an album a message comes up saying "Facebook album 'Holiday' has been deleted from Facebook, it will now be deleted from iPhoto" the only option is to click OK, or to force quit.
Is there a way to re-sync the albums back onto Facebook?
I know there are lots of forums on syncing the other way - from Facebook to iPhoto, but this question concerns syncing from iPhoto back up to Facebook...

exact same problem. I was doing a big clean up on my hard drive. and the FB section kept turning and turning. then I started to realize it is dumping my albums on FB!!
The weird thing is I've been synching albums to FB for years and never had this problem when I delete albums form iPhoto last year. I think this is the first time I have this problem. ie, there are albums that I have deleted on iphoto before and theya re still on FB now, I wonder if  it is an iPhoto 11 problem.
grrrrr.. seems like Apple have given up on this one. so much for convenient synching. no more iPhoto I guess. maybe someone can recommend a Mac photo app that will treat ppl a bit nicer than iPhoto.

  • Add Current Facebook Albums to iPhoto?

Has anyone found a way to download your current facebook albums to iPhoto? I'd like to be able to do this so that I could add new pictures to them and have them sync back up to facebook instead of having to create new ones.

  • Photos uploaded from iPhoto '11 to facebook keep removing themselves at random.

    Hi Guys and Girls,
My Photos uploaded from iPhoto '11 to facebook keep removing themselves at random. Who else is having this annoying issue?
    Cheers,
    Keegan

Do not use the iPhoto - Facebook link - as advertised changes on either side are automatically synced to the other - that is the way it works
If you do not want the features that iPhoto offers then upload directly form a web browser or other method

  • How to delete an album in IPhoto but keep the Facebook album intact!

iPhoto/Facebook users - There is a solution to your problem! How to delete an album in iPhoto but not in Facebook!!!
The problem: Every time you update the iPhoto album (which is synced with Facebook), the Facebook album will also update. If you delete your iPhoto pictures due to space or backup issues, this will also delete the pictures on Facebook.

  • Iphoto deletes my facebook albums

I'm having a serious issue with my iphoto program!
Whenever I use the tool in iphoto to 'share' an album from my iphoto to facebook, I click on share, facebook, new album... & automatically, a pop up appears saying that one of my facebook albums (a different one each time) has been removed from facebook & would I like to save the photos in an event on iphoto or just delete them!
This has lead to my having numerous of my facebook albums removed from my facebook. I never once manually deleted them or moved them, or did anything remotely similar; iphoto seems to be doing it all on its own & its extremely frustrating as when it removes my albums, i obviously loose all the data on facebook that goes with that album ie: comments, likes, etc...
    PLEASE help!!!!

I thought this problem was solved, but it happened again to my wife tonight. It makes me 16 shades of purple MAD!!!  WHY is iPhoto deleting Facebook albums?! EVER?!? If I go and add or change an album in my browser, the next time iPhoto wakes up, it should DOWNLOAD and KEEP my albums as i left them on FB. Obviously, FB is always the most current version I want.

  • Any way to get iPhoto'09 to recognise existing Facebook albums?

Is there any way to get iPhoto '09 to recognise existing Facebook albums?
It would be nice to have all the previous albums I've uploaded to be listed in iPhoto and all the 100's of people I've already tagged would serve as a nice basis for the iPhoto face detection to learn who my friends are!

This is an interesting workaround, but misses the spirit of the original post. I don't know a way to get iPhoto '09 to recognize existing FB albums, but I agree that this is a serious problem with iPhoto '09.
The iPhoto '09 Facebook and Flickr uploaders have one "cool" feature - they automatically sync iPhotos events with FB "albums" or Flickr "sets", so if you make changes to the photos in iPhoto, then those changes are reflected in the photos on FB and Flickr automagically (this has been working for me in FB but not in Flickr). The more I use this the more I think it's more trouble than it is useful and I wish I could turn it off and just use the old exporters without syncing.
There are problems with the exporters:
    (1) the constant syncing with FB/Flickr can get annoying if you're making several changes, if you have a slow internet connection or slow computer.
    (2) If you don't actually want the changes to be reflected in the FB/Flickr album (i.e. i delete photos out of iPhoto to make room on my disk for more photos and now the photos are deleted out of facebook) can get not as user friendly as the original Facebook and Flickr exporter was easier and more user-friendly.
    (3) syncing is cool for a computer programmer to do, but what if users don't want it all the time? What if I don't want my Facebook albums to be exactly the same as my iPhoto albums, and I don't want to split out all the photos that I don't want on Facebook into separate events in iPhoto? This lack of support for the truly useful & user friendly (if a bit boring) features is a really unfortunate oversight.
(3a) in the old version: i can quickly and easily choose exactly which photos from which events I want to upload to FB.
(3b) as the original questioner mentioned: I can choose whether to upload to into a *new or existing album*. Hands down, this was *the single best feature* of the previous uploaders.
(in Flickr this is of paramount importance since the free Flickr account only allows 3 "sets" - so, since this fancy iPhoto syncing links your events to sets in Flickr, you'd have to create 3 massive Flickr-only events in iPhoto in order to stay within their restrictions. I like to keep my iPhotos events separate, but I'm perfectly happy uploading photos from different events into one of my three Flickr sets. i'm pretty sure i can still do this with FFXporter or similar.)
(3b) in the old version: all the photos i upload are put into a "pending" album on FB so that I can tag people, delete some photos (without deleting them off my own iPhoto), etc. before sharing them with all my friends. I'd like to have at least the option to choose whether they go into a pending album first or not.
(3c) it's further annoying that you cannot browse your iPhoto library directly (from most websites) when searching for photos to upload, you have to export the files first, then browse to where the photos were exported.

  • Facebook album missing from iphoto

I am using both iPhoto and Aperture, and both are linked to my Facebook account. However, the primary photo album I use on Facebook - the default "Mobile uploads" album - does not show up in either application. All the other albums do...and if I create a new album in Facebook, it nearly immediately shows up in iPhoto. I've tried removing my Facebook account and re-adding it, but each time I do it goes through and syncs up the albums and omits the Mobile Uploads.
Any ideas how to gently nudge iPhoto (and/or Aperture) into noticing that album on Facebook?
Here's a clue about what may be the source of the problem. Some time ago, when I first connected Aperture to my Facebook account something happened and I had two Mobile Uploads albums and, if I remember correctly, they seemed to be duplicates of each other. So I deleted one of them, thinking somehow Aperture was goofing off and displaying the same album twice. But I believe what I later found, is that the folder that was left behind was a static copy of the "live" Mobile Uploads album on Facebook - so I think I deleted the live one. This became clear when I added new photos to the album on Facebook and they were not updating in Aperture.
So it seems like somewhere my Mac is being told to ignore that album. Interestingly, I got a new Mac a couple of months ago, and it also ignores Mobile Uploads folder so it seems like that instruction is coming from Facebook, rather than being controlled by something locally on my Mac (I didn't import anything from my old Mac).
Just theories...I have no idea what's actually going on. But I want to tell iPhoto and/or Facebook "Hey look...forget what you may have been told in the past. Here's a Facebook account, and here's a copy of iPhoto. You guys talk, and show all the albums currently in that Facebook account in iPhoto."
    Any help?

I think if you go to this link you can fill out a form which sends a message to iTunes support:
    https://expresslane.apple.com/Symptoms.do
I found that by going to the Express Lane (https://expresslane.apple.com/), clicking "iTunes" under product categories, clicking "iTunes Store", and selecting "Purchases, Billing, and Redemption".

  • IPhoto keeps asking to set up Facebook and Flickr accounts

iPhoto keeps asking to set up the Flickr and Facebook accounts. This is despite the fact that i have done so many times. I have tried restarting (thought it was a keychain thing) and removing permissions from the flickr website and then setting up again. But to no avail...
    Can someone help please?

    Hello Somos,
This does sound like a keychain issue.
    I would try the following:
    1.) Remove:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iphoto (there will be more than 1)
    ~/Librry/caches
    2.) Restart computer
3.) If issue persists remove ~/Library/Keychains -- this will remove all saved passwords so don't delete the file
    4.) Restart computer again
5.) If this resolves the issue restore the old Keychains folder and then open Key Chain Access from /Applications/Utilities/ and try repairing keychain.
    Hope that helps.

Here's my problem. I was sorting through a bunch of pictures in iPhoto. I deleted the facebook albums in iPhoto, not realizing it would delete them off facebook. Is there any way to recover these albums so that they go back on facebook? Preferably with any comments people left on facebook intact? Thanks.

  • Facebook albums missing after upgrade to iPhoto '11

I installed iPhoto '11 on my wife's iMac. She had probably 30 or more Facebook albums that showed up on the left side of the screen in iPhoto '09. After the upgrade there is just one icon that shows she has an account but none of her previous albums appear below it.
HERE'S THE PROBLEM: Now whenever she tries to upload photos to Facebook a message appears in iPhoto and asks to delete her albums off of Facebook. One message per album that formerly appeared in iPhoto '09. We accidentally deleted a few albums before I realized that it actually removes them from her Facebook page.
I can't find this problem in any other thread. Help! What can we do?

OK, I have had some success with resolving this particular problem.
*Step 1:* I quit out of iPhoto 11 and went to my FaceBook account. Under the Account tab, menu item account settings, you can change your password.
*Step 2:* After changing your FaceBook password, open iPhoto 11. Click on the FaceBook icon. You will get an error message, just cancel out of it.
*Step 3:* Delete every FaceBook album. (This may take a degree of faith ) Its not really deleting them from FaceBook as long as you are not connected to FaceBook from iPhoto.
*Step 4:* Open iPhoto preferences go to accounts and click on your facebook account. Enter your new password. This will reconnect you to Facebook. Your FaceBook photo albums will rebuild and download to your iPhoto program. Life will be cool again
This worked for me. Hopefully for you too.
Additionally if you wanted to try to change your FaceBook password back again I don't see why that wouldn't work as well. The important thing is deleting the current albums displayed in iPhoto without being connected to FaceBook.
