IPhoto library to Apple TV?

Is it possible to send my iPhoto library straight to Apple TV without using MobileMe or some other Internet site?
I have an Aquos TV. I don't see it mentioned in the Apple TV list. Is that a problem?
Thanks!

Why can't I sync videos in my iPhoto library to Apple TV (1st generation)?

If it's already in iTunes, you can reconver the video to an even more friendly iTunes format using iTunes' built in converter.  Highlight the video in iTunes and choose Advanced -> Create iPod or iPhone version from the menu bar.
When the video(s) has/have finished converting, configure them to sync to your iPod.

It's likely that your Library database has been damaged in all the crashing.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Stream entire iPhoto library to Apple TV?

I realize this might be more appropriate for the Apple TV discussion boards and so I posted the question there too, per below, but thought I would try here too in case anyone here knows the answer:
    >>> How can I stream / slideshow (e.g., "screen saver") my entire iPhoto library to my Apple TV (instead of just the 1,000 limit in photostream)?
My posting on the Apple TV discussion board:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5153856
It seems that an Apple TV software update has changed the way the Apple TV shows photos. In the past, I was able to have the "screensaver" show photos from my entire iPhoto library. Now it seems limited only to "photostream" which I understand has a limit of 1,000 photos? I have 20,000 photos, so that is a massive reduction. What was Apple thinking?
Is there any way to have Apple TV stream off of my entire iPhoto library instead of just photostream?

It is an Apple TV question not an iPhoto question - I believe that you need home sahring on and on the Apple TV go to the computer section and you can access your iPhoto library - teh process is described in the Apple TV socumentationa nd set up instructions

  • Upgrading iPhoto Library from Apple Time Capsule

I have put my iPhoto library onto my Time Capsule, and I know I need to upgrade my library. Every time I open iPhoto, I am asked to upgrade my library, and I click on upgrade, but it never finishes. After several minutes of attempting to upgrade, the app just quits on its own. I would like to access my photo library. How can I fix this problem?

How is the TC connected to your Mac? (It must be a fast hard wired connection like FireWire, USB or ThunderBolt for iPhoto - a network or wireless connection will not work)
Is it being used strictly as an External Hard Drive - or is it the destination for you TimeMachine backup? (if so you can not have your iphoto library on it)
Probably the fix will be to put it back on your internal drive - or on a separate EHD formatted Mac OS Extended (journaled) with a fast wired connection

  • Using iPhoto library with Apple TV

Just st upo the Apple TV and have the iTunes bit working for music, purchased movies and home movies stored within iTunes from my late 2012 Mac Mini.
    Must say am impressed.
The boss has 64Gb of photos on an a mid 2013 airbook and wants to know how the photos can be "shown" on the TV.
I have read a little on Airplay but not sure on how it might work for these photos.
    Both computers running 10.9.2
    Thanks

Solved my own question, I was on a different wifi network in the house:( so the airplay icon was missing
Set up Airplay and the boss now has iPhotos mirrored on the HDTV.
It is really good, highly recommend it as you dont need a Smart TV for it just one that supports 1080

  • Suddenly iPhoto-Library won't open

    Hi
I'm running OSX Yosemity for about 2 months and was also using iPhoto 9.6 with a large Library (about 75GB). The Library is stored on an internal Harddrive (not on my System-Drive, which is a faster SSD). Today i got the message to update my Library with the "IPhoto-Library-Updater". This didn't make sense to me, because the Library worked with this Version of iPhoto the day before, but i tried the Updater, which tells me, that i can not open this Library, because it's newer than iPhoto 7 and also tells me to open the Library with the new iPhoto 9.6 (which won't work).
I already repaired the Filepermission with Disk Utility. I also tried to open the iPhoto-Repair-Database-Dialog by holding down Option+Command-Key while starting iPhoto. But the Dialog won't show up. I only get the message from the first step to "Update my Library with the Updater".
An suggestion how to solve this problem?
    Thanks
    Heiko

    Heiko,
Apple is right now developing the successor application "Photos" to iPhoto to be released early next year. It will be free with Yosemite, bring a better integration with "Photos" on the mobile devices and iCloud, and will allow to migrate iPhoto libraries to the new application.  Whatever you decide to do, you may want to keep all options open and keep a backup of your working iPhoto library.  (Apple to replace Aperture and iPhoto with Photos for OS X early next year | 9to5Mac)
I'm also not that satisfied with iPhoto-Performance on my large Library and i'm thinking for some time to drop iPhoto and look for alternatives.
It is not normal that you are having performance problems. Less than 100GB for a library is not large that large.   iPhoto can cope easily with hundreds of GB. Sometimes a slow Mac is caused by the drive filling up (if you have less than 20BG of free storage on the system drive or the drive you are writing to),  if you installed incompatible software that corrupted system libraries, or broken preferences files.
Sometimes you can see an indication of the problem, if you keep a Console window open. If your Mac is showing the beachball or is getting slow, look, if there are new warning messages appearing in your Console.

  • My macbook pro crashed and the hard drive was replaced. How do I restore my backup pre- 9.6 iphoto library to the 9.6.1 iphoto library? They look completely different.

My macbook pro crashed and the hard drive was replaced. How do I restore my backup pre- 9.6 iphoto library to the 9.6.1 iphoto library? They look completely different. When I look at my backed-up iphoto library folder I see lots of files and folders: ALbumData.xml, Attachments folder, etc. The 9.6.1 iphoto library doesn't appear to be a folder at all. Help!

iPhoto 6 and earlier libraries were regular folders with the kind of files your reporting.  With the advent of iPhoto 7 the library folder was changed to a package similar to the application packages but have essentially the same files and folders inside.  There's no reason to have access to the inside of the iPhoto Library so Apple changed them to packages.
Do you have a backup copy of the iPhoto Library from before the HD crash.  If so restore it to the Pictures folder in your Home folder.  If you previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 or earlier download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before trying to open it with iPhoto 9.6.1.

Bugs in Iphoto database upgrade can be disastrous. Have attempted it twice now and can not find my pictures. Anyone out there wanting to import your earlier versions of Iphoto database to this one. Proceed with caution. If you get a message that states "photo library needs to be upgraded" Your photo library will not be readable by previous libraries. I followed the instructions to the T

I finally got my problem solved....
Turns out that there are some plug ins that are causing problems with the upgrade of the iPhoto library to iPhoto '11. I had the pleasure of meeting an iPhoto engineer (at my house), who took a copy of my 73 GB iPhoto library to Apple to determine why my IPhoto would crash during the library update. (Yes, I gave Apple my personal library). I was selected since I am near the Apple Campus.
I told the engineer that they are playing with people's lives, because our photos are very important to us. He told me that they are aware of that, and are investigating the problem. (I had my library go from 73 GB shrink to 9 GB when I tried to upgrade to iPhoto '11.)
It turns out, an old plug-in from the Joe Soft application, called Hear, was causing my problem. Even though this was a iTunes enhancement application, it had ties to the movie files (via Quicktime) that are in my iPhoto library.
Other plug ins that can cause problems are the DIVX plug in and AVI Converter plug ins.
Once I removed the offending plug in, my library converted within a hour and I was happy to be enjoying the new version of iPhoto. I will keep my old iPhoto 9 Library, just in case if I have a problem. (I am testing importing photos from all of my cameras and iPhones, just to make sure import works.)
I was also told that I can do the conversion in "Safe Mode" (hold Shift Key down during startup) if I didn't want to remove the plug ins. However, I needed to know if it was really the plug in, so I did the upgrade in the regular mode with the offending plug in removed.
I have to say that I had moved a copy of the original iPhoto Library to a stripped computer (has no plug ins) and tried converting it to iPhoto '11, and it converted without any problems. Therefore, I know it was a plug in issue.
I was told that I can move the converted library to my main computer (that has the plug ins) and should not have any problems running iPhoto. The plug in problem only occurs during the conversion process.
Regarding the Projects (Books) items, they all converted without any problems. I have open them and verified. All albums are working and all 26,000+ photos are working!
I have shut down and restarted iPhoto and also shut down and restarted my computer, then launch iPhoto without any problems. I actually think iPhoto '11 loads much faster than iPhoto '09
A regular fix is in the works.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks again iPhoto Team!

  • How do I get an iphoto library that is stored on an external HD to show up in apple tv?

I recently moved my iphoto library from my iMac HD to an Airport Extreme Time Capsule because I ran out of space on my iMac's HD. Since the move, I can't view any of my photos through Apple TV like I had been able to when the library was on the iMac itself. Is there a way to set it up so everything works like it used to?

Is that a wired or wireless connection to the Time Capsule?
Have a read of the following article:

    Note the comment:
“Additionally, storing the iPhoto library on a network rather than locally on your computer can also lead to poor performance or data loss.”

  • How can i sync my iPhoto Library to 2 macs using the same Apple ID?

    Hi,
I have 2 mac book pros (1 in the office and 1 at home) and I have all my photos saved on my office mac iPhoto Library. Is there a way I can sync both iPhoto Libraries? I will be using 1 Apple ID or account for both macs.
    Thanks

What do you mean by "Sync".
The general term means when two Libraries (A and B) are compared and files in Library A are copied to Library B, while files in Library B are also copied to Library A so that both Libraries are identical.
This is bi-directional copying and you cannot do this automatically with iPhoto. No Syncing software is capable of parsing the iPhoto Library in this manner. One or both of your Libraries will be damaged if you try this.
You can have uni-directional copying - files in Library A are copied to Library B - this is essentially backing up. Obviously you can also copy from Library B to Library A. So, if all your Photos are on Machine A then just back it up to machine B.
The nearest you can get to syncing is to use iPhoto Library Manager to move files/Albums/Events plus associated metadata between Libraries. This process cannot be automated.

  • I have 2 iphoto libraries but one is lost, missing, cannot seem to find it... tried an apple care person - they were no help - we use Time Machine for external backup... but cannot find my older iPhoto library! I desperately need some help!

I have recently had something really odd happen within iphoto.  My photos from May-Oct 2013 appeared to be missing from my primary Iphoto library.
last night I was trying to find any additional Iphoto libraries on my Imac... I could not find them... but then somehow the May-Oct 2013 library showed up and now I cannot find the "current" primary Iphoto library.   I sought help from apple care today but no solutoin from them after 2 hours trying.  I have timemachine that backs up my Imac each day to an external hard drive.   When I open Iphoto while holding down the "option" key - it lets me choose which Iphoto library... but only (1) library comes up...  I can't figure out what happened - but it seems that I must have more than one Iphoto library because yesterday I was able to see all my photos except the "gap in dates" from May-Oct 2013.  Today - I can only open a Library called Iphoto2014... and it contains the photos from the gap in dates.  I can't "see" any other options to open photos... but just yesterday there appeared to be a different library available.
Any advice or steps i should take to locate my missing photos - would be soooooo much appreciated.

My iPhoto Library (version 8.1.2) is 280GB (greater than 50% of my 500GB total storage memory on my iMac.  It was too large for me to drag it to a new hard drive so the Apple geniuses did it for me.  However they did not delete the Library from my iMac (that's my responsibility).  I dragged it to Trash and when it started to move I clicked over to the new hard drive to confirm it had indeed been copied.  I became nervous when I didn't see among the few files on this otherwise empty new hard drive anything that resembled a 280GB Library so I cancelled the migration to trash.
How can I be sure that my iphoto has been copied and that all my "metadata" survived in tact?

    the new backup drive
I thought the new drive would be your data drive to host the iPhoto library. Do you also use it for TimeMachine backups?
I am unable to search either in email as well as Finder.  I AM able to search within iPhoto though, thankfully
Spotlight may still be busy rebuildig its index.
You could try to rebuild the Spotlight Index, if you do see no progress:

I hope, other frequent posters will drop in. I have not used iPhoto 8.x in long time.

  • Can't see photos of iPhoto through my Apple TV after moving the iPhoto library to my Airport Extreme Disk. It keeps "loading user's library" forever...

    Hi there,
some days ago I purchased an Airport Extreme router with disk to move my iphoto library there and free space of my crowded macbook pro.
Everything was working well (iphoto takes a little bit longer to start and quit) but now I can't see my photo library through my apple tv.
It keeps loading the library forever.
Is there any problem doing that?
    Thanks
    jm

    Help,
Thanks for the quick answer and for the welcome.
Yes I selected it in the iTunes sharing options (in fact several times, with resets in between just in case)
I think that it's related to the size of the library (more than 8 gb) and e fact that is in a remote disk (in the AirPort Extreme)
Hope anyone has the solution :-))
    Thanks again!
