IPhoto & Magic Mouse

using iPhoto6 and selecting a photo to print with the Magic Mouse calling up a printer and selecting print, the Print preparing bar window is shown which is quickly blocked out by a new window which says "no pages from the document were selected". This window only occurs using Magic Mouse. Normal Mouse works OK.

I'm afraid that the solution is likely to be 'Use a Normal Mouse". iPhoto 6 predates the Magic mouse for about 4 years, so it's not surprising that it might have issues with a repertoire of interactions which simply didn't exist when it was developed.
You might try post this on the Forum for your particular Mac, maybe someone there will have better news for you.

  • Iphoto and Magic Mouse

    Hi,
I have a big problem. I have iphoto 11 and a magica mouse. After I installed Lion, when I try to scroll up and down with the magic mouse, iphoto always get stuck. The funny thing is if I use my normal wireless mouse I have no problem at all. How can I fix this? HELP!

    HI,
*"It shows mouse movement normally yet there is no response when clicking on any pixels, including its inability to retrieve the hidden dock at the bottom of the screen."*
*"I never really looked at the bluetooth symbol before, but it is grayed with 3 black dots across it."*
The 3 black dots mean your iMac is communicating with your computer, read here. Make sure the mouse is turned on.
    Bluetooth: About Bluetooth Icons
Try re-pairing your Bluetooth mouse with your iMac. Open System Preferences/Bluetooth. Delete the mouse from the Devices window. Now click: Set Up New Device and re-pair the mouse with the iMac. Restart your iMac and see if that makes a difference.
Also, the Bluetooth preference files could be corrupted.
Go to /Library/Preferences and move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file to the Trash and see if that helps.
Make sure the batteries in the mouse are charged. Open System Preferences/Mouse
Battery level is displayed bottom left corner in that window.

  • Magic Mouse and iPhoto problem.

    Hi,
I recently installed Lion on my imac. Now I have a problem. If I try to scroll my picture in iphoto with my magic mouse iphoto crashes every time! If I try to use my normal mouse I have no problem... How can I fix that? Please, help me!

Mind if I ask how you solved the bluetooth / slow internet video issue.?

  • Using Magic Mouse to Click on a Photo in iPhoto

Just installed the Magic Mouse, and I notice that when I double click on a photo in iPhoto to maximize it, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I have to click three times, sometimes two times, or sometimes no matter how many times I click nothing happens. I noticed this too using the Magic Mouse in Best Buy. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any fix for it? With my bluetooth Mighty Mouse, the double click worked to maximize the photo every time.

I think I just figured it out. I had to set the double-click to a slower speed.

  • Swipe between pages feature is freezing with magic mouse and magic trackpad in Mavericks

I am experiencing a bug in Mavericks with my Magic trackpad and the Magic mouse. This bug comes and goes and is very sporadic. When it happens I am usually in a browser like Firefox or Safari, or in iPhoto. Anything that uses the Swipe between pages feature usually locks up, and  on top of this it locks the scroling up and down function in the browsers and in iPhoto. The only thing that makes these functions work again is to reeboot or turn off bluetooth and turn it back on. I see that many people are having this problem in other posts, and I am just wondering if Apple is actually working on this bug or has somebody found what trigers this bug and do they have the fix for it?
    Thanks for your help
    Chris

Maybe this will help. You can look for other ideas in the 'More Like This' box to the right.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • How come I can't use the back gesture in certain apps with my magic mouse on certain applications in Lion OS?

How come I can't use the back gesture with my magic mouse on certain applications in Lion? I figured out that in Safari i have to use a 1 finger swipe to go back a page instead of 2 fingers like i used to do in Snow Leopard. But apps like iTunes and iPhoto and i can't do that. Any ideas? is there a setting im missing to make this work? It works in Safari but not any other applications, so im assuming theres no setting for this. Just want to know if this is just a bug that will be fixed in the next update or if its something I can fix now. Any help would be appreciated because its kind of annoying. Other than this minor issue I love Lion. Full screen apps are unbelievable.

  • Magic Mouse not so Magic

Is anyone experiencing erratic behaviour from their "Magic Mouse". I find mine is VERY sensitive and over-responds to the slightest touch. Sometimes just grazing the surface accidentally causes my document to skip through pages in a blur. Is this a malfunction (correctible) or is this normal for these infernal things.

I did not have any problems installing the new mouse driver and getting it to work, mostly by dumb luck AKA read the instructions last. Everything seems to work except the two finger scrolling through iPhoto and the rotating photos. Any ideas how to get that working or do you need a newer version of iPhoto?
In the pictures on the Apple site, I noticed that the thumbnails in iPhoto were on the right. I could not find a way of doing that with iPhoto 6. Is that another feature that only comes with the newer versions?
Like some of the other commenters, I would like to see more functionality, like a two finger click or tap on the mouse to activate an additional selectable feature.

  • Apple Magic Mouse Double Finger Usage

    Hi Guys,
I just got myself a magic mouse and tried the 2 finger swipe. Now, the problem; it works fine in Safari and and iPhoto, but doesn't work in iTunes cover flow - which was advertised on the video on the apple website.
May i please ask anyone who has experienced this to offer me some advice or solution?
Thanks alot, and have a nice day!
    Regards
    SW

Doesn't work here either. I think iTunes just hasn't been updated to support this gesture yet. One-finger scrolling works, but sometimes you want to move exactly one album forward or back which is difficult to achieve with one finger, because it's relatively imprecise.

  • Magic Mouse and Mavericks

I have a new iMac wi a wireless Magic Mouse.  The problem I'm having is the erratic behavior of the MMouse. The window of any software are -
Safari, iPhoto, Mail or Photoshop or Quark… any one. While u are reading or writing, the content within the window moves!!  Up, down, literally flies
sideways, left or right, no set pattern.
Any ideas how I can solve this?
    Thanks
    Julie

    Hi Julie,
Try this. Open a finder window, and while holding the Option key, click on the Go Menu, and click on Library.
Then go to Preferences, and look for a file called com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouchMouse.plist.
Go ahead and delete this file, restart and see if it's better.
If you had set up any preferences for natural scrolling, multitouch gestures etc. you will have to go into your Mouse Preferences and set them again.

  • Magic Mouse and 27" iMac Store Availability

Do Apple sotres have the magic mouse available? At least as a floor model to try it out? What about the 27" iMac?

Well I went to the Naperville, IL store to look at the 21.5" iMac since the 27" was not in stock. Surprise -- they had 3 of the 27" on display and a supply of the dual core for sale. Not sure why the person on the phone said they did not have them.
The 27" is absolutely beautiful!!! Opening iPhoto and being able to see your "thumbnail" photos so large is great. It also opened iPhoto almost instantly.
The wireless keyboard & Magic Mouse were tethered with a security cable so they could not be taken. The Magic Mouse works well - definitely tough to go back to a normal mouse.
I'm looking forward to ordering one. I will need to order online as I want the dual core with upgraded graphics card.

  • Magic Mouse not working with Lion

My Magic Mouse does not scroll with Lion. Preferences are set up correctly. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

I've been using my Magic Mouse on and off this year, but it worked perfectly fine when I upgraded to 10.7.0. I haven't used the MM since my desk finally arrived today and in 10.7.2 vertical scrolling of the MM just won't work. It's so frustrating because of those iOS-like scrolling bars that vanish. It's SO HARD to find them to scroll and then my wrists are in an awkward position just forcing my mouse to scrolling vertically (by clicking, no gesture).
I have however noticed that when I put my MBA Rev A to sleep and wake it again, that vertical scrolling on my MM will work again for about 10 seconds. My batteries are at 100%, so it can't be that.
This absolutely *****! Apple's attention to detail on these small things have slipped. I even had an issue with iPhoto 11 the other day when I noticed that you literally have to jump through hoops to manually force face detection on photos that the application can't automatically detect on . That feature used to be so intuitive in iPhoto '09. Too many balls in the air, Apple?

  • Magic track pad vs. magic mouse?

So which do you prefer when working on a mac pro? A magic track pad or the magic mouse?
Anyone have any experience working with both?
I have not yet tried either on my mac pro (still using mighty mouse - the worse mouse ever invented!!) but when working on my mac book pro's track pad I got to say, I am considering going the magic track pad route?
Anyone have any input to offer?

Hi I have both also. I started with the mouse and then bought the trackpad to use with my MacPro. I like both but have found the following over the last few weeks. Since I really love the trackpad on my macbook pro I did not hesitate to buy a track pad when they became available. And let me add that the track pad is great. But it is not a natural for me to use the track pad with my Macpro as it is with the laptop. I am not sure why but it has something to do with the fact I do different things with the desk top (I think).
OK Scrolling is absolutely better with the trackpad, as are gestures and the trackpad is great when working in Aperture or iphoto not so much for me with photoshop. But when I am doing my daily grind, word processing, some web surfing, dealing with software that requires a lot of keyboarding, the track pad becomes a problem and I eventually have to go to the mouse. Like some one else said here it has to think (although for a very short time) this causes me to sometime get ahead of myself and then go back and make corrections. Also for me cut and paste is not as intuitive with the trackpad.
All that said I do not regret buying the trackpad and i will continue to use it based on what i am doing at the time, but I will not let my magic mouse go anytime soon.

  • Magic Mouse and Employing Pinch to Open and Close Feature

I have purchased a magic mouse and would like to employ the "pinch to open & close" features (option on multi-touch trackpad) with the magic mouse. This is not the same as zoom (e.g. hold control key with mouse wheel).
I have tried using bettertouchtool and magicprefs, but it appears that neither accommodates this feature easily. If there were a keyboard shortcut to employ this feature then I think I can assign it to a magic mouse gesture via BTT or Magic Prefs, but I cannot find such a keyboard shortcut.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

It could be you are approaching it incorrectly.   It can be a tricky little gadget that actually works with minimal pressure.
Try turning over the mouse so the compartment panel faces you, optical sensor topmost.  Then holding the mouse at each side but not on the panel itself, flick the small, black rectangular panel downwards.   The top of the panel should spring out, though it may require you to manipulate it fully away from the mouse.
Once you have replaced the batteries, starting at the bottom reverse the procedure then clip into place.   Remember to move the small switch next to the optical sensor upwards which should turn on the green light.   Then click twice to connect.

  • My magic mouse scrolling is stuttering in safari 5.0.5. Can anyone help?

    Hi all,
This has been a problem for a while now but am finally getting around to do something about it. I've increasingly noticed that when scrolling in Safari 5.0.5 it becomes stuttery/jittery using the magic mouse.
I've updated everything (OS, updates etc...) to the latest versions, have plenty of space left on my HD.
Does anyone have suggestions to get it fixed? Smooth scrolling is selected in mouse preferences.
    Kind regards,
    Jack

Same problem here. As well, every few minutes, the mouse doesn't scroll at all until I've scrolled up and down two or three times. Other forums have posts about this problem, too. Things that didn't help:
    • quitting/restarting Safari
    • restarting
    • resetting PRAM
    • turning off smooth scrolling
    The problem occurs independently of:
    • Flash websites
    • complex pages
    • currently loading pages (active, or background tabs)
    • any other wireless activity

  • Is there a way to open the notification pane using magic mouse?

Is there a way to open the notification pane using magic mouse? i mean it would be great if i could two finger swipe to the right for the notification pane (two finger swipe left opens dashboard)
I have Magic Prefs if it helps

It doesn't seem like this is possible in 10.9.1.  Can someone at Apple confirm or provide a solution?
