Iphoto mail

I switched from dial up to wildblue satellite high speed and iphoto will not accept the wildblue. I added the wildblue in mail-preferences-accounts, and deleted the dial up server under "manage SMTP servers". What did I miss?

What's "iphoto mail app"?  iPhoto is one application and Apple mail is another.
If within iPhoto you sent a picture via email, then if that email was sent using one of your email accounts that is not a "mac.com" or "me.com" account, then it won't be in the iCloud sent folder.  Look on your mac, in your other accounts.

  • Problems opening ical/iphoto/mail etc after restoring from time machine

hello everybody, hope you can help me!!!
    Problem...
I got a new HardDisk installed in my Macbook from 2006.
I made sure all the software was up to date an made a full backup on Time Machine before bringing it to the Mac Store.
Back home i plugged it in and put the Snow Leopard installation disk, choose installation, chose my preferred language, selected Utilities > Restore System from Backup... and after one hour my laptop restarted and seemed normal.
    Seemed.
    I cannot open:
Mail, Ical, software update, Itunes, Iphoto etc etc. GGGRRRR!!!
    All my applications don't work?!?!!
It gives the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark saying:
".. can't be opened because there is a problem. Ask the developer for information with this version on Mac OS X, You might have to install the application again."
    What do I do now??

    Thank you for your answer!
It looks like that, because it mentions "this version of mac OS x".
The Time Machine backup was made half an hour before I took it to the shop so I guess it was up to date with 10.6.3 (yesterday they released 10.6.4 so that one
I don't have. My other mac backsup with that version allready)
No, I installed with the Snow Leopard disk (i asked the guy in the store, he told me NOT to use the old disks which are 10.4.8).
What I guess you tell me to do is empty my HD again, than install with the original disks and than upgrade till "today" and than try to recover my last TM backup?
    Or any other solutions?

  • Picture names not showing in iphoto+mail

I recently updated to ilife ´08 and can´t figure out how to get the actual data names to show. I don´t sant to see titles, ratings and keywords.. I want to see the actual names of the pictures. Also when I hit the mail button in iphoto the pictures are put in the mail... without the pictures name. If I drag and drop the pics to a desktop folder the names ar5e of course correct. But many of the people I send mails to are not even aware how to drag and drop. If I send someone an email with 40 pictures to chose from,I want them to see the names underneath the pictures in the email without having to drag and drop. This was always how it worked in ilife ´07 and it makes choosing the pictures and telling me which ones they want in high quality a very easy process. I can´t even figure out how to sort the photos by "NAME". If there is no way to change it then I will be going back to the older version. Sometimes "improvement" is not a good thing.
Does anybody know how to do this?

When you select a pic to Email in the iPhoto Window and hit the email button you have the option to include title and comments with the photo.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
In iPhoto you have two concepts that are related:
Title is a name that you give to a photo in iPhoto
Filename is the name of the file that contains the photo.
Which are you referring to when you say "name"?

  • IPhoto 11--unable to email pics using iPhoto mail

After I select a photo and then click on the "Share" button to email the photo using iPhoto, iPhoto crashes. However, when I change the mail program in iPhoto to Apple Mail, I am able to email the photo.

    rceenik:
Go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the email account that's in there and close iPhoto. Relaunch iPhoto and add it back again.
    nhsebas:
Do you have your gmail account setup in the Mail application's Accounts pane?
If you don't then do so.  If you do and still can't send from iPhoto with "Mail" set as your email client,
Then delete the Gmail account, close Mail, reopen and add it back again.

  • Snow Leopard, iPhoto, Mail - loss of image size option when mailing photos

I just installed Snow Leopard on both my laptop and my desktop. Now I have lost one of the size options when I email images directly from iPhoto. This is a big problem for me, as I have the need to send photos out to colleagues for their review several times per week. Before the new OS, I could choose (from within iPhoto or from within Mail) from these options: small, medium, large, and full-size. "Large" was the choice that almost always worked best for me. Now an image is medium-sized no matter whether you choose medium or large. Small and full-size still work.
If I add images to a mail using the photo browser in Mail (which is less convenient for me anyway), then I lose the titles and descriptions I have added to those images in iPhoto. Not good.
Is there a setting I can change, or is this a bug, or what?
    Help.
    Marion

    Ernie,
It's not the the image size buttons are not available. They are. It's that they don't work correctly. From within iPhoto: choosing "small" gives me a small image; choosing "medium" gives me a medium image; choosing "large" also gives me a medium image; choosing "full" gives me a full-size image. So, there are four buttons, but only three sizes. I need large, and it's the one that's not working.
I am currently experimenting with your export-attach suggestion, and the results are very messy indeed as well as inconsistent. If I export an image as .jpeg and as full-size, and then attach them to a mail, the first problem is that I lose all the titles and descriptions, even though I have chosen to export them. In the past, all the images lined up neatly in the body of the message with titles underneath each one; now the images are all "stuck together" and you must mouse over to get the title info. Thus you can see this info for only one image at a time - inconvenient for my colleagues.
The second problem is that, the size option buttons work for some images and not for others. I tried attaching three files of different sizes: 2.7MB, 5.2MB, and 6.2MB. All four size buttons work for the two larger files, but, once again "medium" and "large" choices both result in the same size image, "medium."
Even if the export-attach option worked correctly, it would involve many more steps and much more time than my former method of sending direct from iPhoto.
I have not upgraded to iLife9. Perhaps the problem has been corrected in it. I was holding out for iLife10, but might go ahead with 9 if I could be assured it would work. This is really a huge problem for me.
    Thanks,
    Marion

  • Aperture, iPhoto, Mail, FCP X, Motion and Compressor suddenly kaput!

Yesterday I discovered that Aperture and iPhoto, which I hadn't used for several weeks, were refusing to open and throwing up an error message saying there was a "problem and they probably weren't compatible with this version of the  operating system etc."
Shortly after, I discovered that Mail and the latest versions of FCP X, Compressor and Motion were also disabled.
After searching the internet/forums it appeared that this problem (with Aperture) could be caused by installing FCE 4, which I had done a week earlier and the only cure was to reinstall the OS.
I deleted FCE 4 and went through all the usual troubleshooting strategies to no avail so I reinstalled OS X 10.8.5 which which took less than an hour and luckily appears to have cured the problem. (I had been dreading reinstalling the OS  as I mistakenly assumed it would wipe all the apps and folders off my Mac ......... but of course it didn't.)
So has anyone had a similar experience or can shed any light on this?
Now I have to decide whether I dare reinstall FCE 4 ...........

Quite a few bug fixes, like the text position bug in Lion has been fixed.
Here's some from Tim Payton on the COW
    - During Playback, zooming the timeline with the keyboard doesn't send you to the end of the timeline
    - Scale controls on timeline now update live
    - Synchronize Clips now works if you have multiple non overlapping video clips for a single audio clip. (huge!)
    - Preroll and Post Roll settings in preferences work.
    - HDV Footage with "better performance" doesn't look nearly as bad. Way less flashing.
    - Timeline feels much snappier.
    - Timeline index now includes sortable columns: name, roles, & notes, and you can edit the values! (huge!)
    - Zooming on the timeline now really centers on the playhead if skimming off, skimmer if skimming on
    - Inspector updates more consistently to the clip selected.
    - Startup is much faster.

  • Possible for non-Mac users to save and send iPhoto Mail images?

Will non-Mac users be able to download and save images sent from iPhoto via Mail? Of course they can see the images, but will they be able to save, send, and print them? Thanks.

The answer to the question is Yes, but...
A lot of people have problems because they don't understand their own email clients. The one way that is pretty much guaranteed to work is to send +only plain text emails+. It's the most basic form of email and it works.

  • How to set up iPhoto mail.

I have set the account to agree with the settings in Mail, but when I try to send, I get the message that the server is not responding. I can email from Mail, but not iPhoto
    Thanks, John Shanks

That's been an ongoning problem with the latest iPhoto.  Try deleting the mail account in iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and then add the email account back.
If you want the themes effect that you get in iPhoto try using the photo stationary available in Mail:
Using Mail as the email client lets you add multiple addressees easier and gives you a sent version.

  • Help with iPhoto & Mail

I turned on my macbook and when I tried to open mail it requested initial configuration again. I lost what I had in the inbox (except personal folders) . Then I opened iPhoto (I had 2 libraries) and they were practically gone. In the home folder I can only find 400 out of the 2000 pictures that I had.
Can someone tell me what's wrong and how can I get my pictures back?

This solution is for those of you using 2-step verification for your Apple ID and are using iCloud as the mail server that you are trying to mail photos with.
I too had this issue. The problem in my case occurred because I had setup 2-step authentication for my Apple ID. If you have done this then you will get the error message "the mail server did not recognize your email/password...". To solve the problem go to:
    https://appleid.apple.com
    Click "Manage Your Apple ID"
Verify your identity with the device you selected (if this step does not show up then you have not likely set up 2-step authentication and this is not your solution)
Click Password and Security in the left column
    Click Generate an app-specific password
Enter iPhoto as the name of the app
Copy the password and paste this into the password box in iPhoto where you would normally enter your apple ID (in the mail account section in iPhoto preferences).
    And...voila' (I hope)

  • Iphoto mail fail

won't send emails... doesn't connect with my contacts lists.

brief enigmatic post... need full details to help
Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance.

  • Itunes, safari bookmarks, iPhoto, mail, entourage are empty!!!

my email was acting strange..asking me for my password then rejecting it. I turned off and on my computer and then I all my itunes songs were gone, as were the photos in Safari, my email and entourage, all empty. My toolbar was different as well, and there was an icon next to the trash whch looked like a stamp and when I rolled over it said Leopard. I am really confused about what to do. There is only one account on the computer(me) someone on another board said I should check to see if I had set up another account in error and there are no others. I was moving things around earlier in the, organizing my files but did not trash anything. Can anyone help me?

    Welcome To  Discussions scollu!
It appears that you changed the Short Name, of the user account.
The info in one or more of these articles, should help you correct it.

If that is not the situation, then, "I was moving things around earlier in the, organizing my files...", post exactly what you moved around, where to, and what is in the Trash.

  • All data in iTunes, iPhoto, Mail, iCal, iMovie, etc has been wiped out.

All of the pictures, music, emails, etc has been wiped out in all of our applications. The only thing that wasn't wiped out was our documents. When you click on the applications it goes to what it looks like when you are first setting up your computer. After that, everything is gone. The only thing different we have done with our computer was update Safari. Any idea what happened?

Bee may be onto something. Losing the home folder has been known to happen spontaneously. These are directions if this has been done deliberately, but which you might want to use to troubleshoot your situation. It may be worth a try.

  • IPhoto 11: A new way to use the old E-Mail behaviour.

iPhoto 11 works with email in a new way. Rather than using an Application to send the email as before, what they have done is handle the email within iPhoto. So, you input your Email Account details - the name of your service, the account name, password, etc, and iPhoto uses that information to send the email via your account.
There's an element of swings and roundabouts in this.
Users of Apps like Thunderbird or Postbox could not email from within iPhoto in the past as those apps are not scriptable. Neither could it be used by people who use Web Mail and access their mail via a web browser. By going this way these people users have the same service as Mail/Entourage/Eudora users have.
So much for the swings: on the roundabouts, however, users of Mail (and I suspect Entourage and Eudora) have a change. Share -> Email does not work as before and you can no longer select pics within iPhoto, resize them and pass them over to their preferred application. Neither can you send photos without a Template.
However, by creating a Service sing Automator, it's perfectly possible to recreate the previous usage, though accessed a little differently. Here's one way:
    1. Launch Automator
    2. From the Dropdown sheet select to make a Service
    3. On the Right hand side, over the large pane (under the record button) select 'Service Receives +no input+'
    Uploaded with Skitch!
    3. From the Library Column (extreme left) click on Photos.
    4. From the Middle Column drag 'Get Selected iPhoto Items to the large pane.
    5. In the drop down on 'Get Selected Photo Items, select 'Photos'
    Uploaded with Skitch!
    6. Back to the Library column, extreme left and this time click on Mail
    7. Drag 'New Mail Message' to the right hand pane, under the existing 'Get iPhoto Items'
    8. Drag 'Add Attachments to Front Message' under that.
    9. Save it, Name it.
Now, in iPhoto select the photos you want to email
    then
iPhoto Menu -> Services -> And select the Service you created.
The Mail app comes forward with your Message, with files attached.
You can resize the Photos using the option at lower right of the Mail window:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
Using the Keyboard Shortcuts in System Preferences you can choose a shortcut to do the whole thing from the keyboard.

    TD

You can also drag from iPhoto '11 to Entourage 2008 and Outlook 2011.
Both of these will create a new email adding the photos as full size attachments
Good tip and I just tried it. Too bad Entourage does not have the size box in the
lower right like Apple's Mail. I really don't like sending full size pictures in email
messages so I will use Terence Devlin's Automator script or drag and drop to the
    the Mail Dock Icon.
Two very good workarounds for the slow iPhoto mailer. I got spoiled using the
IPhoto 09 email interface with Entourage that let me select the size and the x-number
    of Great IPhotos
Thanks again for another tip on how to mail photos using iPhoto 11.

Any idea why the "other" continues to increase. I have just got got my mac so no new apps installed yet only been using it for mail and web browsing. I tried the iphoto mail last night and noticed the the "other" section had increased by 1GB which I thought was rather larger. Do you know what this setion actually does ?
Also do you know if it is possible to delete the iphoto emails.
All of your 'stuff' that is not Music Movies Apps Backups or Photos is in Other, that means all your emails, all your files etc, why don't you just leave well enough alone, this is not windows and doesn't need tinkering with,
