IPhoto message

I just bought a Macbook Pro laptop last week and installed the Leopard OS right away. I started importing photos from a cd to the iPhoto application. After a while, a message popped in the screen which read as " iPhoto application quit unexpectedly" then the computer ask me to click the "relaunch and reset" button that appears after, after clicking it, the message "iPhoto application quit unexpectedly" keeps coming back. What do you think is the problem? Can you help me to fix the problem and prevent it from popping to the screen whenever i open the iPhoto application please. Many thanks.

can not open iPhoto, message telling me that i need to upgrade

What iPhoto are you referring to?  The one on your Mac or on your mobile device?  If on your Mac what system and iPhoto versions are you running? What happens when you try to launch iPhoto?  Any message pops up? What are they?

  • Can't update iPhoto: message says it was "bought by a different user or refunded or cancelled." None of that is true. Can't buy it, either.

I've been trying to update my iPhoto because my old version (9.3.2) no longer works now that I've updated my OS to Mavericks (10.9.2). When I try to update, I get the message that I can't because iPhoto was purchase by some other user or was refunded or cancelled. I don't know how this could be--this was a new computer that I got through work that came loaded with iPhoto already. I figured that I would just buy iPhoto again and load it up, but the Apple Store will only show me the option to UPDATE and not BUY, so I am stuck in this loop.

You must log in using the Apple ID that was used to set up the compter (or purchase the application if it was purchased later)
If that is not working then you must contact App store suport - link is on the right of the App store window

  • Iphoto message: library created with unreleased version of iphoto

Hi I'm brand new to the forum--know others have had a similar issue--
I get the message that says library was created with an unreleased version of iphoto, and I should quit and open with version 2 or 4. when this message appears the only choice is to quit--iphoto menu bar is not available.
I'm also new to Mac. I bought my powerbook August 2005, but I can't even open iphoto to tell exactly which version I have. I imagine its 5.something.
I have about 3500 photos on here, but can only see them through preview, not my iphoto library. Wondering if this is related to the fact that my 512 usb memory stick seems to have been making my entire computer freeze (there are photos stored on it). Is it possible I picked up a virus from a PC via my memory stick and it's messing with iphoto? please help. I am completely dependent on this machine--I use it for 8-10 hours every day.
    thanks,
    RF

    Hi RF,
Just highlight the iPhoto.app in your applications folder and in the next column it should tell you the version (viewing in column view)
I don't know the reason you go this message, though you are not the first one.
So far I have not seen any solution for that error message in these discussions. If you have a recent backup of your iPhoto Library folder then take the old library out of the Pictures folder and put your backup library in there (I suggest you backup the backup before you do this) Launch iPhoto and hopefully everything will be back to normal. If you don't have a backup then...
The only thing I can tell you to do right now is to create a new library and import/add to the library to reimport your images.
    these are the steps:
    Close iPhoto
Drag the iPhoto Library folder to the desktop
    Launch iPhoto
In the next window that opens choose to create a new library.
When the new empty library opens go to File/add to library
In the next window navigate to the library on your desktop and choose it.
Your images will be imported in nice dated rolls. (make sure your view is set to sort by rolls to see it) There are a couple of caveats to this. You will get rolls named "Originals" These rolls will contain your video clips and your original images that you had edited. If you had RAW files they would be in those rolls too (I don't do RAW, so I don't know for sure) Delete what you don't want from those rolls. You will also get the jpeg pointer files to your video clips imported. They will just be jpegs and will not point to the video clips anymore as iPhoto made new ones when the clips were imported again. You can delete those. they should be in a roll right next to the newly imported video clips so they are not hard to find. The thumbnail files don't get imported as iPhoto makes new ones when the images are imported.
You will have to redo your albums, keywords, etc.
    Good luck!

  • Use Latest Version of iPhoto Message?

I am trying to open an iPhoto library stored on a hard drive and get the message "You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto." I am using iPhoto '09 Version 8.0.2 (402) which I believe is the latest version. How do I get into this library?
    Thanks.

If that doesn't work try Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • IPhoto message at startup

I imported a lot of photos from my external hard drive to iPhoto. Now every time I startup iPhoto I get a message "iPhoto has detected a photo that has not been imported yet," or something like that. I tell it no, I don't want it imported and it comes back with "iPhoto has put this photo in a recovery directory (again a paraphrase)."
Can some one help me get it to stop trying to import? And how to delete anything that has been stored in a directory somewhere?
    Help is much appreciated.

Quit iPhoto and right click (control click) on the iPhoto library (by default in the pictures folder) - find the folder names import (or importing) and drag it to the desktop - launch iPhoto and everything will be ok
    1 - Quit iPhoto and
2 - right click (control click) on the iPhoto library (by default in the pictures folder) - in the finder look in the source pane on the left for the pictures folder and open it and then right click on the iPhoto library and show package contents
3 - find the folder names import (or importing) and drag it to the desktop - this is a folder in the iPhoto library - do not move or change anything else in the iPhoto library
4 - launch iPhoto and everything will be ok

  • Older file of photos in iPhoto/message = Troubles

I tried opening an older file of photos in iPhoto and got this message: To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs to be prepared. So, I went to "Learn More" and followed the upgrade they suggested. It said it was successful. Now I've lost everything. My iPhoto won't open and can't access any of my photos. Help?

    1. When iPhoto imports photos it doesn’t move them, it copies them.
    2. Iphoto imports nothing automatically, it always needs a User command.
    3. To import these files, use the File -> Import to Library command

  • Can NOT email photos from Iphoto, message displayed that my email and password is not correct???? Can anyone help?

Can't email photos directly from iPhoto (MBPro 2012) running OS 10.9.4 I deleted the email & passwords in the iPhoto Preferences since I was given an error message that my email and password didn't match???? reinstalled them and tried again with no luck I have done it before without any problem, does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks "Old Toad" .... I tried what you suggested: I erased the email accounts, re-booted, re-entered the email settings and changed the the email client to Mail (instead of iPhoto). I still have the message " email server didn't recognize your username/password combination"...... so frustrating and probably something so simple..... but I can't figure it out! I did clean-up everything, cookies/cashes, I did a "Safe Boot", just in case.... still not able to send email via iPhoto, instead I have to drag the photo from iPhoto onto the desktop then attach it to an email.... way too many steps!!!!
And what email client are you using in the successful (if too many step) process?

I keep getting  inconsistencies message in iphoto. It asks me if I want to repair but continues with message after repair. starting
iphoto with option held down does not help. How do I fix this?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:

  • Opening iPhoto message to say photos found that were not imported.

On opening iPhoto I get the message '23 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported.'  I get the offer to import them and answering either yes or no makes no difference. This message is then repeated.  In iPhotos I get a number of 'Recovered Photos' folders with nothing in them.  Whats happening- are there some photoes lost in a file somewhere?

    Do the following:
1 - go to your library in the Pictures folder and open it by Control-clicking on it and selecting "Show Package Contents" from the contextual menu.
2 - look for a folder titled "Importing" or "Import" (NOT "Auto Import). 3 - move that folder to the Desktop. 4 - launch iPhoto.
iPhoto should now open without that warning.  You can check the photo(s) inside that folder on the  Desktop to see if you want to save and import it.  Then you can delete that folder.

  • IPhoto message each time I open the app...

Everytime I open iPhoto I get a message like this: "6 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that were not imported. Would you like to import them now?" I click YES everytime, but still keep getting that message each time I open the app. What can I do to stop getting that message?

I also get pop up messages when I open iPhoto - in my case 10,000 photos not yet imported, do I want to import them now etc.
I have tried to follow your advice but when I control click on my iphoto library in Pictures folder, I don't get the option to "show package contents". Im using iPhoto 6. Can you suggest any further options for me?
These photos multiply whenever I try to do an import from my iPhone - iPhoto crashes in the middle of the import, So the number of "unimported" photos leaps by two thousand or so each time.

  • IPhoto Message During App Quitting

Please forigive the silly question but I'm am still getting around to learning my new mac.
I am seeing a message everytime I close iPhoto that flashes by really quickly and I'm unable to read it. I saw something along the lines of "iPhoto is saving critical data". I could not catch anything more than that. I would like to know what this is saying. I've never noticed this message or error until after I imported some old pictures from a dvd into iPhoto.
