Iphoto mobile me hang-up

I recently upgraded the OS and Iphoto software on my iMAC.
I used to have a mobile me account, but discontinued it 1-2 years ago.
When I launch iPhoto, it spins and spins and gives me a message about "Mobile Me" being discontinued, and often the software crashes at that point.
Is there any info on this issue?  Is there any way to delete any old remenants of my Mobile Me account to stop this issue???
Appreciate any advice on this

In the system preferences remove all references to MM and log out. In iPhoto click learn more and go to iPhoto and remove all MM references from the iPhoto preferences

  • How to transfer an iPad iPhoto Mobile album to iPhoto or Aperture on my desktopMac???

I have several photogaphs I downloaded from my camera directly to my iPad 3 and edited using iPhoto Mobile.
I now want to transfer these edited images to my desktop to further edit and refine in Aperture BUT the only images that come up when I connect my iPad and Aperture (or iPhoto) are the original images....none of the thumbnails of the edited images appear to enable an easy export?
Anyone know how to do this?
    C

Read this user tip for all of the information that you need to know about how to move everything from the iPad to the Mac. It was written as an iPhone guide, but the process works the same way with an iPad.

  • Itunes won't start, iPhoto / Front Row Hang after Leopard install

I upgraded a Intel 2.0MHz 24" iMac this morning. I have never had any upgrade problems before. Last night the iLife 8.1.1 update was installed. Was using iTunes all morning. I got my Leopard CD via Fedex and popped it in. Install went smoothly with no issues. The only thing out of the ordinary during the installation was that I hit cancel when the Time Machine setup opened because I don't have a hard disc ready for it yet.
All seems to be OK except for iTunes, iPhoto, and Front Row.
    1. iTunes hangs every time I try to start it and I have to Force Quit. Library is on an external drive that is available and working in Finder.
    2. iPhoto will open and show my library, but hangs anytime I chose Edit. Library is on main drive, but I have preferences set not to have iPhoto copy items to the library. I tried rebuilding library but that hangs too.
    3. Front Row hangs when I choose music or movies. I can't exit it and have to do a hard shutdown.
This is my first disappointment since switching about six months ago. Any insight on how to fix this would be appreciated. I am fully backed up prior to install, but it was not a bootable backup.

I seem to have located the problem. I disabled my Perian install and iTunes, iPhoto, and Front Row started working. I also reinstalled the MPEG2 support for Quicktime, but I believe Perian is what fixed the issue.

  • IPhoto  + Mobiles accounts = Huge Problems - Please Help!

I administer an Apple XServe on a primary school with leopard fully updated.
We have about 20 macbook laptops which login using the wireless network and a number of hard wired iMacs.
Five of those laptops are being used by teachers who want to take their laptops at home. So I have created mobile accounts for them. But since I've done that we've been having endless problems with syncing!
I have configured them to sync every 10minutes and also during login and logout.
Even if they have synced already the login/logout times are extremely long and during syncing iPhoto keeps duplicating it's libraries!!!
I have tried to completely remove the network accounts and do them from scratch but eventually the problems come up.
I am not thinking to completely disable the mobile accounts, create a local account for them and ask them to use USB sticks to transfer files to their network directories!
Any experts on mobile accounts please help!

I just do sync ONLY at log out (as all other times the process is toooo slow and gets in the way and the process is always painfully slow(that's why I leave the building) - the only time I do a sync at log in, is when I have been using my laptop over the weekend for example and I need changes on desktop. That is not a fun Monday morning as its - 1. log out laptop (wait ages for checking - sync the few small changes I made) 2. log in desktop (wait ages for checking - sync the few small changes I made) - sometimes it would be better to use a USB stick !
I also noted that the iPhoto library checking is slow and if you ever open iPhoto and even if you do not do anything the entire library will sync again, I think this is due to it being a package, much like iCal backup files (they are a mega pain)
getting right what you do and do not sync is an art in itself, but I need to sync iPhoto library however I am very careful and only open iPhoto now when I need to.
I continue to be amazed at how slow checking is, I am sure this should be super fast (I heard it was in 10.4)
anyway im over to Snow Leopard this week I wonder if it will be any better

  • IPhoto 9.3 hangs on launch

    Hi,
I have a problem opening iPhoto and I've exhausted every diagnostic measure I can think of.
The problem is that when I launch iPhoto it hangs.
If I open it normally it tells me I need to update my library and presents a dialog with 'cancel' or 'update'. At that point it hangs- I can't click either of the options.
If I open it holding down OPTION then it asks me what library I want to use.... and hangs without letting me select an option.
If I open it holding down CMD-OPTION then it presents me with a set of diagnostic options...and hangs before I can select any of them.
I have tried repairing permissions & verifying the disk- no problems found and still hangs on launch
I have tried removing the plist preference file out of the ~/Library/Preferences folder- still hangs on launch
I have tried deleting the iPhoto 9.3 app from the Apps folder and reinstalling it using the Mac App Store- still hangs on launch.
There's no message in the console about iPhoto crashing. It's obviously not a photo library problem as it crashes before it even opens the library and it can't be the app itself as I've re-downloaded it. I presume something external to iPhoto is having an issue but I have no way of finding out what that is.
Anyone got any good diagnostic steps I can take?

Hi, not sure if your able to help me, but I have the same problem with iPhoto.  I suspect, like u did, it hass something to do with another app.  Mail crashes every time I try and open it too.  alas restarting my mac has not helped.  Any ideas???

  • IPhoto 9.6 hangs when importing raw files.

since upgrading to Yosemite and upgrading iPhoto my macbook pro hangs every time I try to import photos from an SD card. I can import one or two but if I try to import new photos ~300 photos then the kernel task memory usage shoots up to use 95% or more of memory and then it starts running extremely slow and the memory pressure jumps between yellow and red. If I kill iPhoto the kernel task doesn't release the  memory.
I have tried uninstalling iPhoto and and restoring and rebuilding the iPhoto library but to no avail at this point.
Anybody have any other ideas or know if there is a bug with iPhoto 9.6 processing raw files?

  • Mobile E72 hangs frequently after updating Firmwar...

    Hi
I updated the Firmware version of my Nokia E72 to the latest firmware version 31.023  two weeks back, after updrading my mobile keeps on hanging frequently and have to restart almost 5-6 times a day. I bought the handset just 2 mnths back. What is the problem and how can I fix this. Please guide and help on this.
    regards
    D,

    reset the device
Soft reset. Type *#7370# and the phone's lock code (Nokia's default lock code is 12345). Soft reset wipes the C drive.

  • Lightroom mobile sync "hangs" - I am trying to sync several small LR collections from my desktop computer.  The first collection syncs, and then Lightroom syncing seems to hang.  It shows "Syncing 150 photos" in top left, but never progresses even after c

I am using Lightroom 5.5 on OS X.  I have created several small collections with about 180 images and I am trying to sync them via Lightroom mobile for later iPad access.  The first collection syncs properly, and then Lightroom syncing seems to hang.  The label in the upper right shows "Syncing 150 photos" but does not count down.  Opening and closing LR does not restart the process.

    PROBLEM STILL EXISTS...
I spoke to soon!  I tried adding a couple of more collections to sync.  Lightroom shows "Syncing 814" photos on upper left, but never apparently syncs any.  If I exit Lightroom it notifies me there are 814 images to sync.  When I reopen it seems to pick up and stall where it left off.  These new collections are not posting - this is the same problem as before.
I am pretty sure there is a serious bug in Lightroom here.  I encourage support to contact me.

  • IPhoto 09 just hangs now

I have my library (over 3000 photos/movies) on an external WD drive, connected to my Airport Extreme. When I start up iPhoto, nothing happens. It just hangs on the open screen and I get the beach ball. Then nothing.
It was all working fine until last night for some reason, when it suddenly just didn't work any more.
Does anyone else have experience with Airport Extreme and iPhoto 09?

They should really separate out content from the structure, as iTunes does, so that the wireless is used only to house the photographs themselves and the library structure, etc. is just on your local drive.
That came to iPhoto, oh, three years ago or thereabout. That said, I don’t recommend it. And the comparison with the iTunes Library is spurious. It’s not a lot more complex than your AddressBook. The iPhoto DB tracks multiple versions, edits, slideshows, books, calendars, edits etc etc etc. Anyway:
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, you need to be aware of a number of potential pitfalls using this system.
    1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.

    TD

  • IPhoto 11 Scrolling hangs until mouse moved

Having an incredibly frustatring problem. Have been a mac user for 20+ years, and usually know my way around, but this is too much.
IPhoto has become unuseable - trying to accomplish anything (selecting a photo, scrolling, anything), stalls the program, and then if I move the mouse to the dock or menu bar, the program "snaps back". So I scroll, move the mouse to the dock, scroll, move the mouse to the dock...this is not acceptable.
This happens in Safari as well, but not as bad.
    What is going on??

Same thing with wired mighty mouse.
Typed a line in this message, and it didnt appear until I move the mouse down to the dock. Moving up to menu bar works as well.
    Something is "hanging" the system.

  • Iphoto 8 freezes/hangs right after I launch the application.

Every time I try and launch iphoto 8 the application freezes/hangs.
When a slide the arrow pointer anywhere on the iphoto8 screen the multi colored timer ball spins continuously and then I have to force quit the application.
Why is it doing this and what do I have to do to fix.
I'm using Leopard, however it also acted up while running Tiger
    please help
    thanks.

    Steve
The Preference files (.plist, in your Home/ Library / Preferences folder) record User choices for every app. This will include such things as the default font, or the colour of the background, even the place of the window on the screen.
When you launch an app it looks to this file to configure itself to your choices. If there's a problem - minor corruption for instance - then it can't complete launching.
One of the basic troubleshooting steps on any app is to trash the plist file. It forces the app to recreate it - which it does using the default settings.
How to prevent it occurring? Avoid crashes, force quits, minor disk corruption... But sometimes things just happen.

  • Mobile Tumblr hanging on page load?

    Hi, all:
Mobile Safari produces a nasty hang every time I load a Tumblr site.
Clearing History and Cookies and Data seem to have not produced a fix.
    Help!

I'm in the same sinking boat. I've tried empting the cache, deleting the favicons in my icons folder, reseting, deleting the history, changing the DNS numbers or leaving them blank, etc...
The only thing I know for sure is that it's not a problem w/ my network or my provider. Other computers are just fine w/ my connection.
This issue seems so random, as it seems that it can happen to any site at any time. This is getting old. Will we ever have a solution? I hope, as I'd much rather use Safari than anything else.
    HELP!

  • IPhoto Library upgrade hangs

upgraded to OS X Yosemity on my  2008 iMac (previously on Maverickx); Also upgraded to iPhoto 9.6. Was told to upgrade the iPhoto library for which I followed the instructions but upgrade hangs (doesn't stop).

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
