Iphoto not accepting jpeg images saved using Preview "save as"

I have a number of tiff images on my desktop. Am trying to save them as jpeg images directly into iPhoto using the Preview "save as" function. When I do this, I can find no image in iPhoto. When I "save as" jpeg to my desktop, the jpeg image appears there and I can drag to iPhoto, but this is laborious compared with saving directly. Can anyone help me with this?

TD, thanks for commenting on this, and I think I see your point--I used the wrong term when I wrote "import". However, in Preview there is what I see to be a "save as jpeg to iPhoto" option. Why is this available if it does not work? Or to take it from another angle--what can you do with this option? In the end, I guess my basic question is: Is there a more direct way to get tiff images into iPhoto from the desktop than saving them first to the desktop as jpeg? Apologies for piling question on question.

  • My website is accessible via Internet Explorer but not Firefox? It is a simple jpeg image being used as a home page.

No matter whether I am using FireFox on MAC or Windows my new posted home page is not showing up when I access the domain.
The home page in question is only a jpeg image labeled index.html in the prime directory. The jpeg or "home page" is accessible and is coming up correctly in IE. I am checking it on a desktop MAC and a Windows 7 laptop. Again the home page is only one file.

hello, to me the site appears to be down no matter what browser i use (maybe it is still present in your IE's cache & that's why it's showing). please contact the support of your website's hoster to find out what's going on...

  • IPhoto not accepting jpgs

I moved three jpg images from my card reader into the Pictures folder. One image appears as IMG_6961.jpg. When I tried to move it into iPhoto I get a message saying it is an unrecognized file type or may not contain valid data. Yet I am able to view the image in Preview.
Anyone have any suggestions about why iPhoto isn't accepting .jpg images? It is the latest version on an iBook G4 that is about a week old. Kind of dissapointing this is. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi sanhodo, iPhoto is a bit fussy about how it imports images/photos/jpgs etc. The best way is to let iPhoto import it rather that moving it into the iPhoto library from finder. If you have already put it into the iPhoto library or the pictures folder, then quit iPhoto, & move it somewhere else, eg the desktop. Open iPhoto, Go to 'File'>Import to library, then navigate to where your JPG is. Double click it and it will get imported.
For what its worth, iTunes is equally fussy. Do the same for importing music.
    Have fun!

  • What jpeg compression does image capture use to save an image

I am about to scan colour positive slides from many years ago, using image capture and a scanner (Epson 2450 photo).  Can anyone tell me what jpeg compression is used when the scan is saved to disk?  Further, is there any way to alter the quality of suh compression, from say, medium, to highest?

You might be able to find it when you export it from Image Capture.

  • Iphoto not recognising jpeg file

I have a Sony Nex-5r camera.  Up until yesterday I could upload photos from camera to iphoto not a problem.  For no reason that I can pinpoint iphoto now comes up with a mesage stating that the files are not in a recognisable format and I can't transfer them from my camera.  I use a usb cable to conntect to my Mac.

It's a minor database glitch, so let's repair the existing library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • WAP321 not accepting firmware image

Hi all, in a building I have 2 cisco wap321, one with software v1.0.2.3 and the other with v1.0.0.3. I wanted to set up a cluster so I decided to upgrade both of them to the latest firmware v1.0.5.3. With the first one I didn't have any issue, but with the last one It seems to not accepting the firmware image, It loads the image and immediately return to "Firmware Upgrade" page as it nothing happened.
    I've already tried:
    v1.0.0.3 --> v1.0.1.10
    v1.0.0.3 --> v1.0.2.3
    v1.0.0.3 --> v1.0.5.3
    Any Ideas?
    Do you need more information?
    Many thanks in advance!

Thnaks Saurav, but I've already followed that guide. Also I've tried different browsers.
Is the a way to do it by CLI? Any suggestions?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • I need to be able to save pictures with a specific name and email as a .jpg file (not an jpeg image).  Any app suggestions to be able to do this?

I purchased Photoshop Touch which let me save the picture with a name, but when I emailed it, is was an jpeg image.
Anyone know how I can do this or have suggestions for other apps.   I've done quite a bit of research and having trouble finding this specific type of information
    Thanks!!

Hi, I had the same issue. My solution was to take the freeware-tool clickto.
So I'm now able to take any text, copy it and past it via clickto into a new mail.
[http://www.clicktoapp.com Clickto ]expands your copy-paste feature by showing you some "satellites" after doing the copy action. These "satellites" now will give you some opportunities to paste your copied content, for example a picture to facebook or a text to a new mail on gmail with just 1 single click.

  • How to input notes in a binary file used to save continuous DAQ?

    Hello,
I have a continuous data acquisition vi with trigger. Data is saved in a binary file. I would like to save some comments or notes in this file; I want to be able to read the notes afterwards and the saved data that has to be displayed in charts. I got some examples from NI but they are simple and do not include the continuous data acquisition and reading both the notes and the (dynamic) data.
Does anyone have examples of binary files with notes and continuous DAQ write and read?
I've been working on this issue for quite a while and I got stuck...
    Thanks...

    Thank you Emilie.
I know these examples all right. Now try embedding this into a 'Cont Acq. and Chart - Int. Clk.vi' or any vi that does data acquisition and saves the data in the same file where you wrote the string of comments. And this is not all - how do you read them all back in the right order and right length...
I have inserted some examples to make you understand better what I am talking about.
'AcquirePFV_Header.vi' and 'Read_with Header.vi' are only some trials that do not really work correctly.
Could you or anybody else help me solve this problem?
    Thank you.
    Radu

  • How do I remove images viewed using preview?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and not very computer savvy, so please bear with me if in the wrong place or asking dumb questions or using wrong jargon!
Still not quite understanding preview except that it seems the only way to see a bigger image of photo's I've added into PICTURES in Finder.
If I click on PREVIEW it takes me to a screen with an image I've previously viewed, then if I swipe again/repeatedly with 4 fingers more images on their own screens are seen as if I'm looking at a photo album. Most of these images I don't want anymore and have deleted them from PICTURES in finder but they are still in PREVIEW. There is no option (can't right click) or menu bar to delete or remove the images. When I right click on the PREVIEW icon I can see a list of the images/pictures I viewed but no option there either to delete. If I click on one, that one appears on a screen but the others don't disappear.
How can I remove the images I don't want to see/keep. And how can I choose the ones I do want to see.
Thank you for your patience and time

    Hi Drew & Kilgore*
Thanks for your replies. I also have and use Simplenote, although I went off it for a while, when it started crashing all the time on me. It seems to be more stable again now, so I'll start using it more regularly again, perhaps.
I am, obviously, disappointed that one can't simply select ANY object within a Notes document and choose to delete it. As I rather suspected, the only solution is an annoying workaround. Apple stuff seems to get more like this as time goes by. At least in my experience.
I solved the issue my own way in the end, but I guess it was close to your 1st idea DR, and your 2nd option, KT: I basically cut and pasted everything above, and then everything below, the image, and pasted both chunks of text into a new note. So it took two passes, and left me with the original note just displaying the image, which I then trashed.
Tapping to the right of the image followed by deletion was what I hoped & expected would work. But instead the image stayed put and the text below the cursor would simply slide along the right hand side, moving upwards as I deleted! Most bizarre, to my mind at least.
Anyway thanks for the feedback. But, for anyone else that might want to know how to do this, the answer is: NO, you can't select and delete an image once it's in one of your notes!
    * I quite recently watched the rather strange Bruce Willis / Nick Nolte 'Breakfast of Champions' movie... I think I still prefer the book to the film!

  • Downloadable .tiff files open in quicktime, not as an image file: using mac

    I am using a Mac 10.6.3 and
    Ffirefox ver: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6
downloadable .tiff files open in firefox quicktime, not as image files, nor do they let me choose how to download or where to save or as what type of file.

    Hello andrea,
You can tell Firefox to ask you where to store your download files by changing the Firefox "Preferences". You can get the instructions on how to do it in this article: [[Downloads window]].
I would advise you to download tiff files as tiff files only otherwise they may become unviewable.
Now, to open your tiff files as images, you can change the settings on your Mac computer as follows:
#Select the tiff image that you downloaded.
#Right click on it and select "Get info"
#A windows will pop up. In this window, select the "Open with" item. Under this item, select "Preview" or any other image viewer application that you want to use.
#Next, click on the "Change All.." button. Click "Continue" in the message that is shown.
That's all. Now, your tiff files will open as images in the application that you just selected
Hope this solves your problem !

  • Why do some webpages not finish loading images when using cellular data instead of WiFi?

I'm using iPhone 6 64gb. The problem existed with iOS 8.0.0 and the iOS 8.0.2 update.
I have had trouble with webpages loading slowly over AT&T LTE. Sites with multiple images frequently have trouble loading all the images entirely. Instead, the unloaded portion of the image fills in with black or the image fails to load at all. If I switch to WiFi when available and refresh the page, the images will usually reload completely. I never had this problem with the iPhone 5s on the same websites.

I'm on AT&T with an iPhone 5 first gen. This problem is happening across iPhone4s al of the way to iPhone6+
Thought it was only affecting newer iPhones with new Graphic Processors but I later ruled that out.
Seems to only be happening on LTE / 4G. Is not affected on WIFI for me.
I clear cache, crash browser and even reset the phone but will still get unexpected results in LTE or 4G.
The images seem to be getting prematurely cached and are only partially rendering.
When I save the these half loaded images in photoshop I get a warning that they are damaged and/or truncated.
I have saved images out as PNG and JPGs renders poorly.
    About the images-
These images are only 15k and there are 16 on the page so I can't see why they would get bottlenecked when loading.
also, there is no background-color of black anywhere in the CSS.
Note the TV-Like static on the bottom image similar to the comment  ryzer08 above.

  • DVD Recorder Play Back of JPEG Images enhanced using PSE 2.0

I recently purchased a HDD DVD Recorder but am having difficulty playing back JPEG still photo images contained in CD-Rs produced on a PC (Operating system XP SP2). Images are all collectively revealed in thumbnail form in the Picture View but only those individual images that have NOT been PSE 2.0 enhanced (e.g. improved contrast, cloning etc.) can be expanded to full screen view. In the case of the others, the following message is displayed : Can not be played on this unit. All images play back successfully on DVD/ CD drives of original PC.
The only solution I have found is to open & save to MS Paint (stripping out hidden data ??) before burning to CD. However, this is laborious and reduces resolution.
    Any other suggestions welcomed.

    Hi Malcom,
You can export as new file from Organizer and then use those new images to burn to disc.

  • UI element-Image is not showing JPEG images

    Hi Gurus
i am facing a problem while displaying an image in ImageUI,
its not working with JPEG files, also its showing pblm while
displaying gif images with size above some 50KB. Small size gif images are properly working.
    With Regards
       Vipin

    Hi Vipin,
Regarding the image visibility, please check the permissions also.
    For eg:
check with Read/Write permission for yourself and for others with Read permission.
If you are displaying the images in WebDynpro application then you can allow/restrict the types of images like .jpeg or .png etc..
    Hope this helps..

  • Photoshop not accepting GIF image?!

I have a GIF image of 600x367 px & 56.5 KB. I created a new Photoshop project of size 450x450 px, opened my GIF image & tried to drag & drop the image to my new project using the move tool (this is the process I have done in the past with success), but the image is not going into the project?
Please anyone advice me what's wrong here & how can I edit my GIF image.
(I am using PS CS3 on Windows Vista)

Just open the GIF image in Photoshop and edit it as required.
