Iphoto not loading, files in trash?

My iphoto stopped working.  It tries to load but just spins.  It appears my library/photos files are still intact.  I think the problem originated when, in an effort to clean up some recent photos, files were identified through Finder and sent to Trash.  Suspicious of that action I opened Trash, and found several items such as master.apmaster, printalbum.apalbum, and many others with the extension .apalbum, .apfolder, as well as a couple large files properties.apdb and imageproxies.apdb which ended up in there too!   Assuming this is the source of my problem, can  I just drag the files back from trash? and where do I drop them?....to the harddrive icon or do they need to go somewhere more specific?    Should I just drag all my trash back just to be sure I don't miss anything, or are there some specific parameters I should look for?  (For the record, I am not exactly a computer whiz and would appreciate any help!)

Those files are components of the iPhoto Library Package.  As of now that library is history.  The best you can do is either restore the backup copy of the library made just prior to this problem occurring
How is your external HD that is used to backup your boot drive formatted?  If it's not OS X Extended (journaled) you have a very good chance of not having a useable backup library.
or do the following:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Open the library package like this.
2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • Release Management vNext Powershell Could not load file or assembly System.Management.Automation Version=3.0.0.0

    Hi,
    I'm running TFS2013.4 with a number of build servers and all working fine.
    I'm also running Release Management with update 4 (12.0.31101.0) and am running into trouble when trying to run my first dummy release.
    I have setup my servers, stages, releases paths, components and release template (all vNext) with out issue.
    When I run my Release Template (Deploy Using PS/DSC) I'm getting the following error :-

    I can't work out if my target machine (2008 R2 SP1) has a problem with WMA 3.0 or if the Release Template can't find the powershell script that I'm trying to call.  I figured that the relative path to the script could be wrong and have tried numerous
    iterations to no effect.  The error clearly points to a problem with WMA right?
    The target machine has .Net Framework 4.0, WMA Framework 3.0 and I can run Enter-PSSession to remote to it etc...
    Before I trash and rebuild my target machine I hoping someone may have some insight to my problem?
    Thanks in Advance

    Daniel,
    The PS Script is taken from an MSDN blog and is fairly standard.  I'm sure it will run fine when executed, but I've not run it as it requires environment variables ($applicationPath) that will be present in the Release Management session calling it.
    Here's the script :-
    configuration InstallModules
        param
            # Target nodes to apply the configuration
            [string[]]$NodeName = 'localhost',
            # Source Path for Modules
            [String]$SourcePath = "$applicationPath\Deploy\Modules",
            # Destination path for Modules
            [String]$DestinationPath = "$env:ProgramFiles\WindowsPowershell\Modules"
        Node $NodeName
            # Copy the Modules
            File ModuleContent
                Ensure          = "Present"
                SourcePath      = $SourcePath
                DestinationPath = $DestinationPath
                Recurse         = $true
                Type            = "Directory"
    InstallModules
    Thanks

  • Iphoto not loading and appears to be symptom of another problem

    The first problem I had was related to Iphoto not loading - it would just hang with the spinning wheel.
    The only way to stop the application was to restart the iMac.
    Version of iphoto is 8.2.1.
    I tried to do a "rebuild of the permissions". After 24 hours, I restarted the IMAC as it had the spinning wheel and nothing else. Restart was the only way to get control back.
    I took a copy of the Iphoto db at this point. (yes I should have done that first but thought I had a backup ...read on)
    I did a "Backup Now" with time machine - after 48 hours it was still spinning the wheel. Only way to stop it was a Restart.
    I then looked into some other things
    - it appears that time machine has not backed up for some time. It says it has but I think it is stopping at the iphoto database for some time. ie I am not sure I have a clean backup.
    - at this point I have copied all my files (eg. itunes library etc) to an external drive
    - I can use all other programs successfully
    - I cleaned up some disk space
    - I ran the disk utility to 'Verify Permissions" - see output below
    - I thought it best to try and repair the iphoto database and make sure I still have the photos before I try anything more drastic eg. I am looking to upgrade to a more recent imac anyway
    - I tried to download a later version of iphoto (9.1 and 9.4.1 (?)
    - I came back to find a black screen and everything still whirring away in the background
    - I downloaded iphoto manager - I tried to run but got a "restart your machine panic" message
    At this point I am scared to do anything else and make things worse and concerned about the recovering 10 years of photos. I have most of them elsewhere as well, but this could get very messy.
    Any ideas???

    Hi, actually more important than Permission Repair, is Disk Repair.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
    Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

    Hi,
    I have a web site developed with vs 2010 (32-bit) and crystal report 13 (for sv 2010). It's working well i when crystal report installed in gac. I need to this app on a server WITHOUT crystal report installed. so I copied all required crystal assemblies into the bin folder and publish it. I always get following error message

  • Could not load file/URL (file not found) error for JNLP file

    I am completely baffled in trying to figure out why I am getting the following error for some JNLP files but not others:
    Error: could not load file/URL specified: C:\Users\tom\AppData\Local\Temp\javaws2
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Users\tom\AppData\Local\Temp\javaws2 (The system cannot find the file specified)

    at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source)
    at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)I have Googled around this forum and elsewhere, and have seen reports that this error is IE-specific, and seems to have something to do with no-cache headers being sent, or with the client browser's cache being full or turned off (which is not my case). I saw the information in the JavaWS FAQ, which recommended turning off security constraints for the JNLP's URI. I tried that, and it didn't help. One of the very baffling things is that I have created several variations of the JNLP file, with varying combinations of jars and property resources, and some combinations always work while other combinations never work. Here's an example:
    <jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="$$codebase">
       <information>
          <title>demo app</title>
          <description>illustrates weird bug</description>
       </information>
       <resources>
          <j2se version="1.5+"/>
          <jar href="randomFile.jar"/>
          <property name="xxx" value="xxxx"/>
          <property name="swing.metalTheme" value="steel"/>
       </resources>
    </jnlp>The above file always fails with the error shown at the top of this message. However, if I remove either of the two properties, it works fine. And I have created other variations with lots of properties, some of which work. All of these variations are in the same directory in the war file, served by the exact same servlet (a slightly modified version of the jnlp.sample.servlet.JnlpDownloadServlet provided with JDK 1.6.0_3). Assuming that a no-cache header is the problem, what on earth could be causing some JNLP files to always be served with a no-cache header, while others are never served with a no-cache header?
    On a related note, any recommended debugging techniques for seeing what headers are being transmitted? I tried adding a simple check for a "debug=true" parameter in the servlet that causes it to set the content type to "text/plain" instead of JNLP, and that allows me to see (rather than execute) the JNLP XML that's being returned, but it doesn't show me the HTTP headers that are being sent back. If any caching headers are being set, I think it must be being set by the servlet container itself, as it's nothing being set in the servlet code that I can see. So I don't see any way on the server side Java code to output or log the actual HTTP response (or is there?). Any tips in that regard much appreciated.

    Hi Luca-Sanna,
    Thanks for the response. Re browsers, yes, it fails in IE but it succeeds in Firefox. The info on the JavaWS FAQ and other places all seem to indicate that it's an IE issue concerning handling of the cache-control headers.
    I should check in my webserver forum (Sun WebServer 7) to see about logging options. Sniffing on the client side is not possible, as my app is required to use HTTPS exclusively, and unfortunately that also precludes a telnet GET request.

    Note that the dev machine is x64 Win7.
    I have not tried deploying this to staging since the issue started as I'm a bit nervous of touching the staging/live environment until this is solved.
    Removing the PlatformTarget element from the project file has no effect
    Removing the msshrtmi.dll file from the bin directory of the website project ends up with
    'Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.WindowsFabric.Common, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified'
    I have used Git to revert to the last working build to no effect (But I don't have the obj/bin folders in GIT), but it has atleast reset the project files etc.
    If I return msshrtmi.dll to the bin folder and switch the model and website projects to x64 there is no change
    If I switch both to x86 then I get an error Could not load file or assembly 'BekoModel2011' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
    which is the model project - presumably because to run on my x64 machine I need the 64bit version?
    I really need to be able to debug and then publish some changes ASAP.
    Andrew

    Hi,
    Is it true that you're using IIS to host the application? Could you check whether the process is x64 or x86 one via task manager or config in IIS manager?

    I started getting this error message for the first time today. When I look in the event log I see it every time anyone tries to sync to a mobile device to the exchange server. I've also had this problem trying to connect using
    Outlook. I believe it is an IIS issue but I'm not absolutely sure so I'm posting this in the Exchange forum as well.
    The event viewer has the following information...

    I have tried most, if not all, of the different post's suggestions to no avail.
    The steps I have taken are as follows...
    1. Repaired .Net 4 (Both the client and extended)
    2. Uninstalled and reinstalled .Net Framework 4.0.
    3. Verified that the dll exists.
    4. Checked the applicationHost.config file. It contains the follow statement...
    <add name="ServiceModel-4.0" type="System.ServiceModel.Activation.ServiceHttpModule, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" preCondition="managedHandler,runtimeVersionv2.0"
    />
    5. Changed the following line in web.config to include the runtimeVersion...
    <add name="ServiceModel" type="System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" preCondition="managedHandler,runtimeVersionv2.0" />
    6. Executed aspnet_regiis.exe -iru from the ...\Framework64\v4.0.30319 directory.
    7. Went to inetpub\history to use an applicationHost.config file from yesterday but it only has history from 9PM tonight. It probably had what I needed before I started changing it tonight.
    I still receive the same error message.
    Like I said everything was working yesterday. In fact I didn't hear or see any issue until after 1PM today.
    Any help would be very appreciated!

    Hi,
    Please confirm whether users can access their mailboxes from Outlook Web Access or not. We can do the following changes to have a try:
    1. In IIS > Application Pools, change the .NET Framework Version to v2.0 and restart IIS service.
    2. If it doesn’t work, explore the Default Web site.
    3. Renamed the web.config file to web.config.old
    4. Reset IIS using iisreset command to have a try.
    Thanks,

    Hi Mubarak,
    Please firstly make sure you installed SharePoint Foundation 2010 with SP2 in a Windows Server 2012 R2. Since only SP2 slipstream installations are supported on Windows Server 2012 R2

    Sorry for late response. I fixed the issue by installing the correct version of ASP .NET 4 from

    If .NET Framework 4.5 is already installed, also run aspnet_regiis -i from C:\windows\microsoft.net\Framework\v4.0.30319

    Hi Glen,
    "The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference." is generally caused by the loaded assembly's version is different than the expected version application refers to.
    In this case, it should be caused by:
    While starting Report Manager, the backend process ReportingServiceService need to load assemblies it refers to
    ReportingServiceService reads the compilation/assemblies element from web.config(under Report Manager virtual patch)
    If the compilation/assemblies is not existing, ReportingServiceService loads all assemblies from Bin folder. It can be verified from call stack System.Web.Configuration.CompilationSection.LoadAllAssembliesFromAppDomainBinDirectory(). ReportingServiceService
    uses System.Reflection.Assembly.Load with the assemblies' name only to load assemblies.
    The Assembly.Load tries to load from the specify assembly by name from GAC at first. If it is found from GAC, it won't be loaded from Bin folder any more.
    Since Reporting Service SharePoint Integration mode is installed, a same assembly of 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.SharePoint.ObjectModel' with different version might be installed to the GAC. That causes the error "The located assembly's manifest definition
    does not match the assembly reference."
    For more information about the error message and the loading process, please see:

    dll installed and both have the same public token 89b483f429c47342. I changed the target CPU from Any CPU to x86 and published a Release build of my project to the server.
    Why am I getting the below error?
    ==========================================================================================================
    Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=4.112.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

    This was definitely the right answer, I thought ODAC was already installed on the server, but apparently not. I installed the 64-bit OCAC XCopy version on the server and now it works.

  • 'Could not load file or assembly ...TemplateEngine' Error Msg on Server

    I'm working with the sample application VB_Web_CRVObjMod_FilteringData which works fine locally using the ASP.net Website admin tool
    After publishing to our server, it came up with the error...
    'Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=12.0.2000.0...'
    where I installed 'CRRuntime_12_0_mlb.msi' on the server
    Now when I attempt to open the default.aspx, I'm getting this error...
    Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.TemplateEngine, Version=12.0.1100.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
    Should the CRRuntime_12_0_mlb.msi install all the necessary assemblies?
    The actual path of the .dll's on the development pc is
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0
    while on the server it's
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\2.7
    Listed in the Add or Remove Programs on the Server

    Installed Edition: Standard

    Version 12.0.0.683
    Product Type: Evaluation
    I also have Crystal Reports XI on the development pc
    CR Professional
    11.0.0.2495

    My development pc has this directory for CR 2008
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\2008\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86
    The \2008\ directory is my doing to prevent the 2008 install from overwriting the XI install. Was this a bad idea?
    - Absolutely the worst idea I could think of. Crystal reports is side by side compliant since version 9. You do not need to, should not do any modifications at all. I have no idea what this has done to the system or even how this works as is...
    On the development pc
    Sort C:\WINDOWS\assembly by Version,
    I can find CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Template Engine 12.0.1100.0
    version 11.0.3300.0 also exists
    On the server in C:\windows\assembly
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Template Engine is not found
    Other CrystalDecisions... assemblies version 12.0.1100.0 are present
    In the original post you mention that you are using .NET 2005. Yet, you only see CR assemblies of version 12.0.1100. These assemblies can not be used in .NET 2005. The really confusing part is that the error is telling me the app is looking for assemblies of version 12.0.2000.
    Look in the .NET project for the CR assemblies. What version of the assemblies are you referencing?

  • Could not load file or assembly Microsoft.ServiceHosting.Tools

    I just got a new workstation set up and I installed VS 2013 with Windows Azure SDK 2.3 first. But then I realized that our project was built upon Windows Azure SDK 2.2. So I uninstalled the SDK 2.3 and then installed 2.2. After that, I got the project from
    TFS and tried to run it and there was a problem:
    Cannot debug the project because some run time file was missing.
    So I tried to repair it by uninstalling Windows Azure SDK 2.2 completely and repair my VisualStudio. But now I get this error message:
    Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.ServiceHosting.Tools, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture =neutral, PublicKeyToken=232wedsfd3f4' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
    I looked through the project and there wasn't any reference of Miscrosoft.ServiceHosting. And the database and cloud are working. No idea what happened in the machine since Azure is a new field for me. Does anybody ever meet the same problem?

    Hi,
    From my experience, there may be some component missing on your computer, I suggest you uninstall again (everything with Azure keyword in control panel, not only the SDK-> Add remove programs."), then open Microsoft web platform installer (http://www.microsoft.com/web/downloads/platform.aspx),
    select azure sdk 2.3, then install this product. Hope this helps, if not, please feel free to let me know.
    Best Regards
