IPhoto not recognizing camera...

I believe that since I've upgraded to the latest version, iPhoto has ceased to launch and/or recognize that my camera is connected (Kodak CX7530). It's never been an issue before. Is anyone else having this problem?

Don't have that problem but a possible workaround until a fix is found would be to use Image Capture to view and upload the files to the desktop where they can be imported into iPhoto.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Iphoto not recognizing iphone?

I cant get iphone to download photos not even an option in iphoto.

Same problem here, photo sync used to work fine, stopped all of a sudden. I wanted to sync before the 1.0.2 update just in case, and I had about 200 photos outstanding. Plugged in phone, not recognized in iPhoto or image capture. Rebooted mac (G5 dual), reset iPhone, plugged in again, nothing. There were a couple of timeouts on the USB bus in the log that looked suspicious.
I was now at the "grasping at straws" stage, so I grabbed the USB cable that was included in the iPhone box and tried that (I had been using the USB cable that came with an iPod). This was -really- grasping at straws and really hoping for magic, since the phone with the other cable was working fine syncing with iTunes....just not the photos.
So unplugged the old cable, used the new one, and it worked. Freaky. To double-verify, I went back to the iPod cable, and it also worked now. Double freaky.
So, who knows. But it might be worth a shot to try the original cable if you're using a different one. Switching USB ports maybe would help as well? Or just plug it in, leave it for a few seconds, and then unplug both ends of the cable and plug it back. Nothing makes much sense, but these activities apparently fixed it for me.

  • IPhoto not recognizing files

When importing my photos and video from my Nikon D90 camera I got the error:
"the following file could not be imported. (The file is in an unrecognized format.)"
It appears as though some of my videos were not recognized. I am confused by this because most of my videos DID import.
    Please help! Thank you.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. That sounds like it could be a damaged memory card. Use Image Capture or a card reader to get all of the files off the memory card. Then use the camera to reformat the card, shot some test photos and videos and try importing again.
I don't know how you normally erase the card but it should be done with the camera via its reformat option. Letting iPhoto do it can lead to loss of photos. All to often users will report incomplete uploads and complete deletions by iPhoto.

  • Not recognizing camera

I'm not sure if I am posting this to the right community.
I have iphoto '11  on an imac- OS X 10.8.3 with a coolpix S9300 camera.
I have been connecting to iphoto with this camera without a problem for sometime now. However today, I have a problem. The computer doesn't appear to recoginize the camera. I have connected to the computer several different ways, have restarted the computer and have done several variations on turning the different devices on in different orders. Nothing seems to work. I'm hoping someone might have a suggestion.
    thanks

try image capture in yur application folder and see it it wees yoru camera  --  Doe you camera mount to the desktop so you can see it in the finder?
Probably what needs to happen is to get the photos off of it and tehn use your camera's format command to reformat the carda best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card --  I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos

  • IPhoto not recognizing iPhone 5s

Photos on my iPhone 5s are not being imported to iPhoto.  Device seemingly is not recognized.

You might need to reset and/or restore the iphone.
Here are a couple of articles from the iphone support website that might help out.

  • Why is Iphoto not recognizing my Iphone?

My Iphoto is not recognizing my Iphone - WHY??? It used to be automatic.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on eight different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )

  • Lightroom is not recognizing Camera raw.

    I have Lightroom 2.3 & cannon 50D camera.
Whenever i am importing the raw files into Lightroom it is not recognizing it.
    I have Camera raw 5.1 & 5.4 both.
I am using Vista 64 bit.

I am having the same problem.  I have LR2 and it does not recognize my RAW images taken with Canon 50D.  I also have a Canon Rebel xti, and there are no problems with LR2 recognizing Rebel Camera RAW files.  I installed LR2.5 and the same problem continues with the 50D.
I am running Windows Vista 64bit (Home Edition).  Adobe tech support is no help, they said there are no issues with LR2 associated with the 50D, so there must be something wrong with my camera.... but when searching the web, I have seen others say similar things regarding LR2 and canon 50D.
Anybody out there who can provide some real effective advice and help??

If not try any other brand.

  • My eos not recognizing camera

    Hi,
Fairly new user...tech newb.  I have had my camera since June and have not had any problems with it until now.  I took a few photos of my dog, came in to upload them to computer, and the camera is not recognized...nothing happens.
Thx for any help.  I don't see a link to actual Canon support :-(
    Maureen

    Hi ChewieZander,
Another device or program may be causing this.
Do you have any devices connected to the computer other than the camera?
Do you have any other image related applications or services running in the background (would appear in the system tray)?

  • Iphoto not recognizing Canon raw files even after latest update

I have a Canon 5D MkII and the camera was listed in the last iPhoto update as one of the cameras that iPhoto will allow camera raw downloads with. It gets about 3/4 the way through my downloads and just freezes the whole computer to where I have to power off to reboot. Then it wil come up with a box that says the raw files are unreadable or unrecognized. Very frustrated. Help please!

If you want to shoot RAW, you better forget about iPhoto and start using an application that's been designed for that purpose like Aperture, Lightroom or even Canon DPP.
iPhoto sort of handles RAW files since the support is built-in to the OS, but its tools are inadequate at best.

  • IPhoto not recognizing the camera

I'm in MacOS Lion and using IPhoto 8.1.2. Just bought an Olympus C7070 with no software disc. The website-provided download for Mac cannot install. Is there a way to get IPhoto to recognize the camera without the software?

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • IPHOTO not recognizing format of photo's from camera

The SD card on my camera somehow changed the format on the pictures while I was trying to transfer them to my laptop to .jpg     Now it won't let me upload them from the camera to iphoto, it says that it is an unrecognizable format

Pretty much every camera on the planet shoots jpeg, so it's unlikely that your SD card did anything.
That message is often an indication of a problem in the iPhoto Library.
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
