IPhoto not showing a iPhoto DVD

I just made a iPhoto DVD which mounts OK, but is not seen in the "Shared" list. I have an external CD/DVD R/W since the internal is not working. When I tried to eject the DVD the message said it was "in Use by iPhoto." When I tried this DVD in my iMac 20" it showed but indicated "no items" however, if I examine it in the Finder, all the content is present.
Somewhat dissapointed since I have just converted 1215 photos from film to digital and used iPhoto to develop into events over 10 years. This really looks great on my iMac, but want to share with children, one has a MacBook Pro and the other a Windows PC. This latter DVD worked as it should for the Windows PC as single photo file of 1215 photos.

View photo libraries on a CD or DVD
If you’ve burned an entire iPhoto library to a CD or DVD (using the iPhoto burn function), you can view the library in iPhoto without importing all the photos. You can’t make changes to a photo library you’re viewing on a disc, but you can import (copy) photos and albums from it into the current iPhoto library.

To view a photo library on a CD or DVD:
Insert the CD or DVD into your computer’s disc drive.An icon for the disc appears in the Source list.
Click the disc’s icon in the Source list to show the photo library or libraries it contains.
The DVD never shows in the Source List!
The solution to this problem is to copy the iPhoto Library file to the User> Pictures folder and restart iPhoto with the Option key pressed, then select this iPhoto Library and click Open.
Again, it is a disapointment that nobody has replied to my first post above. At least correct the Help file or tell me where I have gone wrong?

Disc menu not showing up on DVD

Hi, I selected (and changed to suit my needs) a template for the opening screen disc menu set. When I burned to DVD, it did not show up though it played during the preview. Also the overal movie had some studders to it that are not in the original vob clips. What to do? I'm using PE 10 with a windows 7 system.

One can alter the PrE Menu Sets, but with DVD Menus, there are several considerations, that must be adhered to.
I use Photoshop to customize my PrE Menu Sets, and it works fine.
Within the constraints of DVD Menus, one can do some things in PrE, PS or PSElements.
When it comes to Sub-picture Highlights, there are many, many more constraints, and limitations, but one can do quite a bit of customization.
Steve Grisetti covers the in's and out's of PrE Menu Set customization, in his PrE books, and especially the Photoshop Elements/Premiere Elements book.
If you need more details, let us know, as Ihave a few discussions, that I can share, should you wish to do customization, beyond just adding an appropriately Scaled Stil Image, or Video, as a background.

Menu not showing up on DVD

I have made a simple DVD with one track, one menu and one button. When I put the burned DVD into the player the menu will not show up. It just skips straight to the one track. My "First Play" is definitely definiteley set to "Menu 1". Does anyone know why this is happening? I have never had this problem before.

DVD players do not function properly when a menu is set as first play
create a black image in Photoshop and import into DVDSP
make a new track and drag the black still into the track and set the end jump to your first menu
set the track to first play

When l burned my final production it dose not show in other dvd player

when l burned my final production in macbookpro as a dvd. l can replay in my macbookpro but it does not showing in an other dvd player. please help me l am very desperate with this problem.

And you used what program to create and burn the DVD? There's a forum for that.

My cd rom drive is not showing up, my dvd is. but its not reading any new discs i put in the drive.

I was having problems and on the support page it said to uninstall the driver and then reinstall. the support page said that i would have to restart my PC and then the found new hardware would come up....That never happened. please tell me what i did wrong

Touchsmart PCs only have one drive, it would show as a DVD not a CD in device manager.

Chapter numbers not showing up on DVD players

Hi All
Just a quick question that someone might have a solution to. I have to author a lot of dual layer tv series to disc. I don't seem to get any chapter numbers on any of our test players. I have tried various ways of naming the chapters including dvd sp own naming scheme, but no joy. Our test players are Toshiba, Bush & Sony. It doesn't seem to be a disc thing as the glass masters are the same. whilst it's not fatal to the disc working it would be wicked to find an answer.

If the calls are from yesterday and not to another VZW customer, it can take up to 24-36 hours for the info to make it through the system.
If it shows 9999999999 then the number was restricted or blocked.

Menu Highlight not showing in Burnt DVD

I've built a PAL DVD in CS6, and when I do a build preview the menu button highlights show fine, however when I burn the DVD, the button highlights don't show at all. I've tried DVD players, computers and gaming consoles and none of them work.
The menu is an AE file running in loop with a video playing, and the buttons were generated using photoshop and the Library. The buttons are shapes in Photoshop. 2 buttons are Outlines for the videos playing (all in the AE comp) and the other 2 buttons are semi-trasparent boxes around a line of text each, so 4 buttons in total.
I've done a project using the same settings 2 months ago and it works fine. I've tried using a new project file and building again but still no luck. I've tried doing in CS5.1, changing highlight types, re-importing everything, and still nothing.
Any suggestions as to what I can do?

Not showing files on DVD-R

I burned AVI movie files onto DVD-R discs with a windows machine, and when I insert them into my Macbook, they show up as blank cds or dvds. How can I get my Macbook to show the files? They show up just fine on a windows machine in Windows Explorer.

Ts l505 does not show internal installed DVD or the external ,..

They show up in device manager .. with warning as error 19
they cannot be installed ... they disappear after installing roxio cd burner
something about deleting registers happened
tried uninstalling and urn off , the when turning on show not installed because of same problem
windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
please help , my wife will kill me !! she doesn't know about this yet.

Disk utility is not showing my internal dvd player ...

AND, when I search the for "disk burning" under "hardware" in "about this mac", "more info" it says "No disc burning device was found" ! Can someone help me recover my superdrive? When I insert a disk it does not "grab" it, If I push it farther, nothing happens. Has it failed? Where or how or CAN I do some diagnostics of my own rather than taking it to an apple store 60 miles away??

Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.
Then check again and see if it is recognized by the system.

90% scaling not showing up on DVD after compression

Hi, i have had to scale my clips at 90% using the motion tab in FCP 5. As a test I compressed the 20min film nad all of the motion scaling was no longer there? What is that about, also I have been working in 3:2 apsect ratio but nothing in compressor or dvd studio allows me to use that as the spect ratio? thnaks if you haveany support for mr kellam

DVD Studio Pro is (currently) designed exclusively for making Video DVDs. As such, you are limited to having a declared aspect ratio of 4:3 or 16:9 (anamorphic) only. Actual pixel size of 720 x 480 for NTSC television systems, and 720 x 576 for PAL systems.
OTOH FCP will edit moving pictures for (almost) any platform.
If you want your active picture size on a TV to be different from transmitted video, you would have fill out the space with blanking.

Not showing cd rom in finder

I insert a CD ROM and get a message to say if I want to urn a playlist, do the following etc. However, the CD ROM isn't shown in finder or on the desktop. Any suggestions? I've been having trouble burning discs for a while, just ejecting music CD's for no reason and finally reading it after ten or more attempts.

It sounds like you have the CDs & DVDs System Preference set to Ask what to do when you insert a CD.
Choose what happens when you insert a CD or DVD - Mac Help
Even if you say to Open in Finder, the Finder may be set to not show CDs or DVDs.

HD video from SD Card not showing up in Iphoto or Imovie

When I put my SD card in, Iphoto comes up and has my pictures but not my HD video. I tried to import in Imovie and then went under my SD card file and the video still is not showing. The video is 100% on the SD card. They showed up when I imported my pictures and videos using windows on my mini toshiba. I want to edit the video on Imovie though.. Why wont they show?

As AussieDJ suggested - have your copied the files from the SD card to your hard drive? You should be able to open them in QuickTime or, at least, VLC DVD Player. I get from your message that you just want to watch the movies and not edit them?
First, copy the movies onto your hard drive. Open QuickTime player and try to watch them there. If that fails, try downloading VLC DVD Player, open it and then try to view your movies.

Burning an iPhoto slide show to a DVD

I have created a slideshow using iPhoto but don't know how to burn it on to a DVD. Can anyone explain how to do this? Thanks

AHH a fellow sufferer. I was pulling my hair out about this finally with help from my computer literate son and the apple genius bar figured how how to do this.
1.go to IDVD. Pick a theme (actually this is a menu and only shows when your dvd opens until you click a "my slideshow button on the menu page. Some music will also be playing. Ignore this for now) If you want one of your photos or more to show in the first opening panel, just go to media, There you will find all your iPhotos. PIck an album or event. PIck a simple theme like the lotus flower and your photo will override it totally.Drag one photo to the Theme box. You can limit how long the theme panel shows also by going to the little ion the left lower next to the + click and you will see various things that you can do like decrease loop time and eliminate "intro and outro"?? Can't give you any advice on this but I usually shorten the loop time.
2.Then go to the lower left "+" sign and it will let you drag in a slideshow you have made in iPhoto. If you note directly below the middle of the screen on the left there is a diagram, sort of an algorhythm. showing three squares. in the middle you will see two arrows indicating revolutions and on the right a dotted edge small box. Ignore these.(for now anyway).Go to your iPhotos shown under media (on the lower right there are buttons for Themes, buttons and media. Click on media and you will see all your iphotos under photos and all your iTunes under audio. Arrange the order of the photos and then Drag the photos you want onto the panel which says slideshow. Presto, there you are. If you have given titles to your photos they can be displayed and you can affect the type, etc. Double Click on the slideshow panel, you will see thumbnails with the .cmg or.jpeg annotations. Click on the Settings GEar and you will see the options to show titles. (The final option"duck audio.." can apparently lower audio(??)I didn't notice any difference
3. On to Audio. go to the audio files select what you want to play and highlight it and drag it anywhere onto the slideshow/ You will know it is there by an ITunes speaker showing up in the lower panel YOu can hit transitions to chose how that works, does not have ken burns which I dislike because it truncates my photos. Select slideshow speed. 3 secs is too short with titles. Click return.
4. you will be returned to the screen with the Theme box, the slideshow box on its right and a gray box on the left. for a start which will avoid the theme opener, drag the slideshow box over to the left box, you will now have two slideshow boxes. This usually avoids the theme screen entirely when your disc plays. Now you can preview and burn.
5. You can also make an iPhoto slideshow complete with music, other formats transitions and music and save it as a Quicktime movie to your desktop. Then when you hit the "+" button on the left click on add movie and drag it from your desktop onto the little box next to the theme box (the same place you dragged your slideshow or photos)
6. Finally the approved way per applestore genius bar, use iMovie. it will show up your iphotos in the media box. Drag them into the upper bar. There is also a media box, which has your iTunes. drag the ones you want onto the lower box. For more specific tunes for certain groups of photos you just drag the tunes under the photos, truncating the music as you wish with your cursor. You can also add titles under your photos but iMovie will not transfer the titles you may have given photos in iPhoto, so I did not use this method, already having gone to all the work of titling my iPHotos
After previewing, hit the burn button, it can take some time to set up, but if you burn several discs the repeat burn time is much shortened.

Iphoto not showing some pictures?

Hello. I have a slight problem. Some photos in iphoto will not show up. They are like a grey box with a "!" in them. I just rebuilt the thumbnails and they're still not there. Now I'm doing the longer rebuild. I did save the pictures to a dvd just incase (but this was while the pictures were still gone, so those pics are not saved) But I did not save my videos I have. Is rebuilding something else going to get those pictures back? And if so would I loose anything on my library. (Most importantly, my videos.) Thanks for the help in advance!

The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
The most common cause of this is User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder in the Finder.
Have you altered, moved or renamed anything in the iPhoto Library Folder?
If you haven't, then try rebuilding the database. Hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose the top three options.
