IPhoto not supported on my Mac

Using Macbook from 2008. Upgraded to OS 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion). Installed iLive 11. When trying to open iPhoto, I get the message "Cannot open iPhoto because it is not supported on this type of Mac." What's wrong? Thanks for any feedback

Where did you install iPhoto 9 from?

  • IPhoto not supported by OS X 10.9.4 update on MacBook iPhoto.

Since I updated to OS X 10.9.4 on my MacBook Pro, I can no longer access iPhoto.  I get a message that iPhoto is not supported on my Mac.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Don't know where to begin.

The photos are located in your iPhoto Library package which, by default, is located in your Pictures folder and is independent of the application.
What system are you running?  If it's anything earlier than Yosemite you won't be able to download iPhoto as the only version available from the App Store is 9.6 which only works with Yosemite.

  • After installing an SSD into my optical bay, I've found out I need EFI Firmware Update 2.2. I can only find 2.3 which is not supported on my Mac. What can I do?

After installing an SSD into my optical bay, I've found out I need EFI Firmware Update 2.2. I can only find 2.3 which is not supported on my Mac. What can I do?

You do not want EFI 2.2, it bricked many 2011 MacBook Pro machines.
EFI 2.3 is the fix. Software Update should install it if you need it, but it goes to the boot drive as that's where the hidden EFI resides.
Check out this link of machines and their EFI versions
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
Also if your SSD should be in the hard drive bay as it makes a better boot/applicaitions drive, not a good storage drive as it wears out with repeated use and is not "scrubbable" like a regular hard drive
The hard drive should be in the optical bay and used as a storage drive, you have things all messed up inside your machine, Apple doesn't support or expect the optical drive to be used as such to begin with, then as a boot drive is just asking for trouble. So use the optical bay as storage and not as a boot bay.
Also you can't install OS X or Windows or use a Firmware restore disk because it only works from a internal optical drive, which you have removed.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT2213
You need to learn all about cloning etc., as you have no other means to boot the machine.

  • IPhoto - "not supported on this architecture" after leopard install

after upgrading to leopard it seems to have deleted my iPhoto all together and when I click what is left of the application I get a window alerting me that iPhoto - "not supported on this architecture" How can I restore?

What version of iPhoto is it?
Did you do an Upgrade or Erase Install?
Have you tried re-installing iPhoto? To do this, go first to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name. Then re-install iPhoto from either an iLife disk or System Restore disks that came with your computer.

  • HT1338 just bought a 27" iMac quad core i5 and when I try to install Logic 8 it tells me that its not supported by power mac

Just bought a 2011 imac 27" to upgrade from my MacBookPro 17" to run Logic 8, but when I try to install Logic 8 on the new Mac I disappointingly get a message to say that the application is not supported on power mac, that cannot be right, or can it. If so what do I need to do to get it to install?

Logic 8 has a "bug" in its installer program that makes a newer Mac (Lion, and thereafter) think that it is PowerPC, but it is not PowerPC.
Try using Pacifist to install Logic 8 in Mavericks:
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
If you cannot get Pacifist to work, you can partition your hard drive and install Snow Leopard into that new partition, install Logic 8 and then upgrade to Mavericks.
As Barney correctly points out, the 2011 iMacs require a minimum of 10.6.6 to boot, so that you need to install Snow Leopard with one of these three options:
    1)  As Barney points out, the original grey Restore DVD that came with that iMac (or a replacement provided by Apple if you call with your model and serial number);
    2)  The slipstreamed version of the Mac OS X Snow Leopard Install DVD at 10.6.7; or
    3)  Install Snow Leopard on a new partition on another older Mac, update it to 10.6.8 and then clone the partition and move the cloned partition over to your 2011 iMac.

  • HT201386 Why is iphoto not supporte by ios8 anymore??

Why is iphoto not supported from ios8 anymore?! I put alot of work in slideshows and now i cant use them anymore?! That really makes me angry, why are u keep making it worse and more complicated than it already is with every new update!

Please write this to Apple using the feedback form, so the developer team will see it. This is a user-to-user forum, and we cannot do anything about it.
Use this link:   Apple - iPhoto - Feedback
Why is iphoto not supported from ios8 anymore?!
Making iPhoto run on iOS8 would have required to a major upgrade and rewriting of code, since the the parts of iOS that support image processing changed considerably. Apple decided to release a new Photos.app to replace iPhoto instead of upgrading iPhoto.  See this help documents:
Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8
Get help finding your Photos in iOS 8
When you send feedback to Apple, be sure to request the features that are missing from Photos and need to be upgraded, if Photos is really to be a replacement for iPhoto.  So far, Photos is very basic, and does not yet offer, what has been lost by killing iPhoto.

  • While I tried to open I-photos on my MAC it says " can't open application not supported by this mac"?

While I tried to open I-photos on my mac it says " can't open application not supported by this mac"?

Restart the computer in safe mode. Certain caches maintained by the system will be rebuilt.
Safe mode is much slower to start up than normal.
When the login screen appears, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.

  • Iphoto not supported by architecture.

I accidently replaced my working version of iphoto with a version which is "not supported on this architecture" I have the install disks but am concerned about losing my pictures and videos. I cannot open my library either but can see the photos under search for.....all images. If I install again what do I need to delete first and will I keep my photos?

    sfeh
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only...’
Re-installing the application will not affect your photos. That said +Always always always+ back up before doing some thing like this.

  • IPHOTO not supported

I am new to the Mac family and have many questions, but will limit to this one for now. I tried to open iPHOTO to learn how to use this app.and received this error message [This application iPHOTO cannot open because it it not supported by this architecture.] What did I do now. The Mini is about a month old.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I agree with TD about returning to the vendor and getting the correct versions of the iLife applications.
But before you do, run Pacifist on the system install disk that came with your Mac to locate and install the iPhoto version that's on the disk. Then see what version it is. If that one is not a universal version then you need new system disks with the correct software. Classic only application are not included with intel Macs, only universal applications.

  • I downloaded firefox to my mac os 10.5.8 and when i tried to install it, it said that it's not supported on my mac. The firefox icon has a slash thru it. Do i need an earlier version of ffox? or?????

when i clicked downloads to install FF into my Apps folder, the FF icon has a circle and slash thru it.
it said it's not supported by this architecture.
I looked on "system requirm'ts" and my os ought to be supported...????

Firefox 4 doesn't run on a PowerPC Mac.
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

  • Photoshop not supported on my Mac

I'm at the tail end of setting up Photoshop on my Mac via Creative Cloud and when I attempt to launch the app this is popping up "You can't open the application "Adobe Photoshop CC" because it's not supported on this type of Mac. What no?

Yes I looked at the Apple Icon and thats where I found out the info about what type of Mac it is. (iMac4.1)
But now reading it again I realize that perhaps the reason it's popping up is because I might not have enough hard drive space available to support the installation.
Could it be possible that it's just that and that clearing up some space could be the answer? or are iMac4s not compatible with Photoshop CC? I don't know how to tell with this information:
    System requirements
Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
    Mac OS X v10.7 or v10.8
    1GB of RAM
3.2GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
1024x768 display (1280x800 recommended) with OpenGL 2.0, 16-bit color, and 512MB of VRAM (1GB recommended)*
Internet connection and registration are necessary for required software activation, membership validation, and access to online services.†
