  • IWork files do not sync with iPhone/iPad using iTunes

When trying to sync Pages, Numbers or Keynote documents by adding the files to the respective app category in iTunes >Apps >Apps  >Documents and pressing Add..., I see the word "sync" on iPhone/iPad just for about a second and then the homescreen on iPhone/iPad reappears. But the files are not there (in Pages, Numbers or Keynote). Other apps I use work fine with this transfer method. What is the problem here?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried that to no avail.
I tried to toggle on and off every setting you can imagine and restarting. Deleting the apps and reinstalling.
    Nothing.

  • Mac not syncing with iPhone/iPad

Can someone help me?  My Mac is acting up.  Over the past 3 days, I have not been able to get my Mac to sync with my iphone or ipad like I have in the past.  When I open up my calendar on Mac, it says it cant be refreshed and won't let me do a thing until I force it to quit.  I input things on my reminders and notes on my Mac but it won't show up on my other 2 devices.  But if I put stuff on my iphone/ipad it will show up on my Mac!? I've tried updating, shutting down, connecting with a USB.  I don't know what else to do.  I really don't want to have to delete all my stuff because its a lot!  Help please!

    Hi all
Have numbers synced on my imac, ipad and iphone 4s.
This morning i done a lot of work on my iphone and now im home to work o the mac its nnot synced. Nor has the Ipad?
The imac has t2 documents that keep trying to load but when they get to completion they go back to start downloading.
Everything ive done on my iphone toad needs syncing to both ipad anfd mac. To much work to lose
    Please help anyone
Heres a screenshot of the mac trying to load

Go to the Apple menu >> system preferences >> icloud.  Make sure you're logged in with the same apple ID as you are on the other two devices.  If you're already signed in, you can click on Account details to verify that.
Then, make sure you have safari checked off in the icloud preferences.  If you already do, uncheck them for a minute or so.  Then recheck them.
    See if that helps.

  • IPhoto Not Syncing to iPhone

I hit a snag when trying to sync any selected rolls in my iPhoto Library via the iTunes sync process.
Near the end of the sync process, iTunes sends an error message saying:
"The iPhone "Alex's iPhone" cannot be synched. The required file cannot be found."
This consistently happens while the status pane in the iTunes window reads:
    "Optimizing photos for "Alex's iPhone"..."
I've been able to get images to sync by simply selecting a folder full of images from the drop-down box, instead of iPhoto.
I believe part of my issue is that my media files (iTunes and iPhoto libraries) are stored on a networked drive via my Airport Extreme and not locally on my hard drive. I've created aliases in my local folders to see if that makes a difference, but it doesn't.
To test this, I've created a dummy iPhoto library, locally on my Mac by holding down the "option" key when I launch iPhoto. This allows me to create a new library, which I create in my Pictures folder, called "iPhoto Library_2" (the default name for a new library). From there, I imported a folder of images.
Then in iTunes in the iPhone's Photos tab, I reselected iPhoto, which gave me the new list of rolls, indicating it was the new test library, not my regular one on the remote drive. After clicking sync, the photos converted and managed to quickly sync to the iPhone without a problem.
If you try this, to get iPhoto back to using your original iPhoto library, quit iPhoto and hold down the option key when you relaunch. Select the "Choose Library" button and navigate to your original iPhoto library, and you should be back in good shape.
So, if you're reading this and you're having problems syncing your iPhoto library, you might consider if you have an odd setup like mine. I hope that helps any frustration you might be having.
If you're reading this and your from Apple, any help on figuring out why the photo reformatting process for the iPhone creates an error when the library is located on a network drive, would be helpful.

  • Smart Playlists w/"Date modified" not syncing to iPhone/iPad

I'm posting this to the iTunes forum, because after a few months there's been no answer in the iPhone forum. User "kylerrs" found this first:
    kylerrs wrote:
Okay, so I normally have a custom made smart playlist which I name "Recently Modified" so I can see the list of songs which I have recently updated in quality or changed the artwork etc., but since updating to iOS5, this playlist still works fine on iTunes but appears blank on my iPhone 4 while all other playlists work fine. Any reason why this might be?
I have the exact same problem. After using a smart playlist based on "Date modified" — like kylerrs — for years, it stopped working. Very frustrating. The playlist works fine in iTunes, but the corresponding playlist on my iPhone and my iPad is always empty.
The sad thing is, this feels like Windows — something mysteriously stops working, you can't figure it out, and you give up — figuring, "Oh well, I just can't do that anymore..."
The original thread, with screenshots, is here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18678228#18678228

I revive this old thread, because I had the very same problem.   After searching for other reports of problems with playlists, I tested a trick that worked for another problem.  And it worked!
Simply add a second rule to the smart playlist, one that has no effect on the results if you set to "match all": -- Playlist is 'Music' --
Sync your playlist again on the iPhone, and magically the contents looks now the same than in iTunes.

  • Ical invitation not syncing to iphone, ipad,

Ical invitations sent to me and received on my Macbook Pro (10.6.x) are limited to my Mail To Do calendar On My Mac. I can't change the calendar in the Event, consequently, it does not appear on my Iphone. I sync through my mobile me.
Seems like I changed the calendars with 102, and but this seemed to recreated the On My Mac calendar.
    Help!

So, here is what I ended up doing: I simply recreated the events that were tagged with the calendar, then deleted the calendar. I am not sure how it got there or why it became the default calendar for events coming from Mail, but now that it is gone, new events are going to my MobileMe calendars, and syncing, as expected.

  • Macbook pro not syncing with iphone/ipad photos

My iphoto on my Macbook Air has stopped updating photos from my phone. The ipad syncs them but the MBA doesn't. It stopped at the end of March and hasn't added any since then.. any ideas? Everything else syncs, ie contacts, calendar etc.
I've tried disabling Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane and iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane, rebooting and reenabling both as previously advised. This didn't work.
    Thanks

Reset iOS devices and your Mac.
    Tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Photos off then back on.
And one more time on your Mac. System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Photos then reselect it.
Give iCloud a minute or two to re sync the data.

  • IMessage not syncing across iphone, ipad and macbook pro

I was recieving messages to my ipad at my mobile number. But they were not being recieved on my phone or my macbook. I then signed out and back into imessage on my phone as I saw that the number did not have a tick next to it. That has got me recieving numbers again on my phone but now I am not recieving messages to my ipad on macbook. I logged out on my macbook and the imessage crashed - when I relaunched and logged back in the names against the messages had all disappeared as it had reset the message threads to "bonjour", even though this was disabled in settings. Is there a way to set them all back to my apple account? I am also still not recieving incoming messages to my phone number on the computer. Or messages in my iPad. Please can someone help?
    Thanks

Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
    Quit Messages if it’s running.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following item from the Library folder (it may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Messages
Leave the Library folder open. Try Messages again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
    Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Messages again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
    Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
Test. If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place, and continue.
    Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with "com.apple.iChat". Move them all to the Desktop.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in step 1. Stop here and post again.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of steps 2 and 3, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

Lost all my contacts in Mac address book.  Tried syncing my iPhone/iPad contacts to Mac via iTunes and is not working.  Please help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unless you have the contacts backed up somewhere, you won't be able to restore them.
You and your son should have your own iCloud accounts then you can keep your own contacts and calendars etc and avoid deleting each others.

  • Ipad air calender not syncing with iphone 5s calender

I create an event on my iphone 5s, it shows up on icloud but will not sync with my ipad air?
I have searched for a solution with no success
    help please

    Howdy andyq180,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
From your post I see that your iPad is not able to sync the iCloud calendar content from either iCloud.com or your other iOS device.  To troubleshoot this, please follow the steps outlined below.
    General troubleshooting
Check the System Status page to make sure there aren't any issues affecting iCloud Calendars.
Check your settings and preferences, because something may not be set up correctly. For example, having incorrect date and time settings can cause issues that are easily resolved by entering the appropriate settings.
    Troubleshooting on iOS devices
First, confirm that you've turned on iCloud Calendar by tapping Settings > iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then check that Calendars is turned on.
If you are having trouble with the Calendar app on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch) and iCloud Calendar, try these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved.
Make sure you've updated to iOS 5 or later. If your issue isn't resolved, try installing the latest version of iOS supported by your device. For instructions on setting up iOS for iCloud, see iCloud Setup.
Make sure your iOS device is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com in Safari. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in your Calendar application. Learn how to troubleshoot your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Calendar requires port 443 access to iCloud to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
If recent changes don't appear, try to refresh your calendars:
In iOS 7, open Calendar and tap the Calendars tab to load the Calendars list, then pull down on the list to refresh.
In iOS 6 or iOS 5, open Calendar and tap Calendars in the top-left corner to load the Calendars list. Then tap the Refresh button in the lower-left corner of the Calendars list window.
If you've recently made changes to your contacts' birthdays and are not seeing those changes reflected in your Birthdays Calendar, try to refresh your calendars. If you made the changes in the Contacts app on your Mac or at iCloud.com, it may take up to an hour for those changes to appear on your other devices.
If you add new events on your iOS device, but they do not update on iCloud.com or your other devices, confirm that you've added the event to an iCloud calendar:
In iOS 7, open Calendar and tap the event to view the Event Details. Tap the calendar name to confirm that you've saved the event to an iCloud calendar.
In iOS 6 or iOS 5, open Calendar and tap the event to view the Event Details. Tap Edit > Calendar to confirm that you've saved the event to an iCloud calendar.
You may want to verify your default calendar settings. If you want to create new events in an iCloud calendar, set that calendar to be your default calendar. You can modify Default Calendar settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Default Calendar.
If you're using iOS 7, quit and restart the Calendar app:
Press the Home button twice to see preview screens of the apps you have open.
Find the Calendar preview screen and swipe it up and out of preview to quit the application.
Tap the Home button to return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute before reopening the Calendar app.
If you're using iOS 6 or iOS 5, quit and restart the Calendar app:
    Press the Home button.
Double-click the Home button to open the multitasking menu.
Tap and hold the Calendar icon until it jiggles.
Tap the "X" to remove Calendar from the list.
Press the Home button to go back to your Home screen. Wait a minute before reopening the Calendar app.
Restart your iOS device: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears, then drag the slider. After the device turns off, turn it back on by pressing the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
Change the Sync settings for your calendars:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Under Calendars, tap Sync. If Sync is set to All Events, set it to a specific duration, such as Events 1 Month Back. If it's already set to a specific duration, set it to All Events.
Tap the Home button. Wait several minutes, then open Calendar and try to refresh your calendars again.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Tap Settings > iCloud.
Turn off Calendar. Choose to delete data only if your data exists at icloud.com/calendar or on one or more of your computers. Otherwise, choose Keep Data.
Wait a few minutes before turning Calendar back on.
