Iphoto on imac frozen

iphoto won't open, when force quit asks to repair. I repair and still iphoto won't open. have shut down imac and tried again.

Depress and hold the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild your library
If this does not work downloads iPhoto Library Manager and use it's rebuild function

  • How can I transfer/import iPhotos from iMac to MacBook Pro?

How can I transfer some  photos from iPhoto on iMac Desktop to iPhoto on MacBook Pro?

We're talking some photos? You can export them from iPhoto to a USB flash drive form the iMac and import them into iPhoto on the MBP. That's one way.

  • How do i re-install iphoto on imac

How do I re-install iphoto on iMac?

Depends how you installed it in the first place! If you installed from a disk, reinstall from there. If you installed from the App Store or it was pre-installed, go back to the App Store and install from the Purchased tab.

  • IMac frozen in mail can't force quit turned off at power and done safe reboot still frozen?

iMac frozen in mail can't force quit turned off at power and tried safe reboot, but still frozen?

To do the NVRAM reset (be quick with Step 4, "immediately" is literal!):
    1. Power down the machine.
    2. Locate the following keys on your keyboard in preparation for Step 4:
    ‘command’ – ‘option’ – ‘P’ – ‘R’
    3. Press the ‘power on’ button.
    4. Immediately – and before the grey screen appears – hold down ‘command-option-P-R’ all together.
    5. Keep them held down until you’ve heard the start-up chime twice. After you release them you should hear it again, and hopefully your Mac will boot up as it should.

  • How can I share/view/edit all of my photos in iPhoto on iMac with iPhoto on MacBook Pro?

I have all my photos stored on iPhoto '11 on my iMac.  I have a MacBook Pro Retnia with iPhoto that I would like to be able to view these same photos on. Is this possible?  If so, please let me know how?
Also, if possible, can I edit and/or download photos to one computer's iPhoto and have them updated (sync) with the other computer?
Finally, how do all of these photos with edits, etc relate to what I see on my iPad 3rd generation and iPhone 5?
Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.

To view your library on another computer on the same network, you could use "Sharing". Set the iPhoto Preferences to share your entire library or selected albums:
Also, if possible, can I edit and/or download photos to one computer's iPhoto and have them updated (sync) with the other computer?
iPhoto Libraries cannot be synched between computers. If you want to have the libraries on both computers identical, you need to use the same library on both machines. Store your iPhoto library on an external disk (formatted MacOS X Extended (Journaled) and plug the disk into the mac you are currently working with. Don't put the library onto a network drive - that will be a very sow access and may corrupt your photo library.
To add new photos/events to iPhoto your other mac you can use the Photo Stream.
Finally, how do all of these photos with edits, etc relate to what I see on my iPad 3rd generation and iPhone 5?
You can only sync one iPhoto library with each OS device. If you sync a device alternately with each computer using iTunes Photo sync, the albums synced from the other photo library will be replaced by the new sync.

  • How can I move over my iPhoto from iMac 10.5.8 onto new macbook pro Mavericks? Tried file sharing tells me I haven't got the relevant permissions when I try to put it onto desktop. Can someone give noddy instructions on what to do please?

I have tried copying iphoto onto flash drive and then putting on the pro but it just comes up as having no photos in it. Can I have two seperate iphotos on one laptop? I tried file sharing the iphoto library too but just comes up with not having the relevant permissions to put it on the pro. Please help, I'm not massively computer literate and just want my laptop to have photos on. I also need to move my itunes music....how would I do that? I don't want everything from my imac so don't want to use migration assistant. Thank you.

    Hi Thomas,
Thank you again for another very swift response.
The folder got into the Trash because I'm an idiot who didn't think he needed it anymore.
Then I thought: hold on a minute.  I'll pull that back out of the Trash before I delete it, JUST in case.
    And thank goodness I did.

  • Backing up iPhoto from iMac to Macbook

Is there a way to copy my photos in their original events from my iMac to my laptop please? Both have iPhoto 09. I've put them on a USB drive but this loses the events as they appear as a long list of jpegs, so can I do it directly from one computer to the other? If so how or is there some other way?
    Thanks.

Sure - simply copy the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to any external storage device that is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) to backup it up - you can not backup your library in pieces - it must be intact and complete
So any external storage device that is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) that has adequate free space on it including a USB drive, another computer, an external hard drive, etc can be used to backup the iPhoto libary

  • IPhoto not working after trying to share iPhoto between iMac and MacBook Pro

I tried to share my photos on both my iMac and MacBook pro. It deleted all my photos in my MacBook and now it won't let me even open iPhoto in my iMac and gives me the following message "You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."
How do I rectify this? Purchase iPhoto from the App store?

What version of iPhoto do you have on each system?
It sound like you propbably have a newer version of iPhoto on the MBP - and thay you opened the iMac iPhoto library using the newer iPhoto - if you did you were warned that doing this would convert the library and that the older version of iPhoto could no longer open the library - the error message you list says that this is what you did
If you did the only options are to restore your iMac backup from before you converted the library, upgrade iPhoto on the iMac the same version you have on your MBP purchasing from the App store or use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  to downgrade your library

  • Pics in iPhoto on iMac

Are my pictures automatically saved on my hard drive that I have loaded into iPhoto on my iMac?

I appreciate your help, Niel. I opened iPhoto, chose "File" and scrolled down to "Browse Backups". It opened up my entire iPhoto library. So I think I feel pretty safe now that they will all be saved when my hard drive gets replaced.

  • Can I copy iPhoto events from iPhone to Iphoto in iMac?

In my iMac iPhoto, I have lost 4 events, but they are complete in my iPhone iPhoto.  Can I copy and insert in the iMaac?

If you just want the photos in their event folders on the EHD and you're running iPhoto 9 (11) or later that can be done rather simply:
1 - select the Events you want to move to the EHD.
2 - use the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with the following settings:
Kind = Original or Current depending on if you want to save the original file or the edited version if it's been edited.
    Subfolder Format = Event Name.
This will export each event to a folder with the same name as the Event to anywhere you'd like, even directly to the EHD.
If you're running iPhoto 8 or earlier you'll have to export each event to folders you've manually created on the EHD before exporting.

  • IOS 7 syncs unedited photos to iPhoto on iMac.

I'm not sure what category this should be under since it involves my iPhone, iOS 7, iPhoto and my iMac (desktop).
I've seen some answers but am not sure what the cure is.
Prior to the iOS 7 update I could take a photo on my iPhone, edit it and save it to the camera roll which it's already placed. Then, I would sync it to my iMac (via USB) iPhoto and when it would ask to import it would always import the photo edited as it it shown on my iPhone.
Now, anytime that I sync my phone to my computer it only shows the original photo except for cropping edits.
Just to be sure, I tried turning on photo stream and even synced my pictures to my dropbox but no matter what, the original photo always shows up and I don't want to just save camera rolls on my phone. I always sync to the my computer and have never had problems. I've tried deleteing the iPod cache as some have seggested in the "Show Package Contents" folder and still no luck. My only time consuming resolution has been to email the photo to myself or iMessage to myself onto my computer. But, we shouldn't have to resort to that.
    My devices are:
iPhone 5S 16 GB Space Gray.
    iOS 7.0.2
    iMac
    20-inch, Early 2008
Processor  2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Software  OS X 10.8.5
Any REAL fixes and answers are appreciated. Please do not give me the most basic answer of which anyone would do. This is far beyond manual troubleshooting.

    How did you fix it?

i was having some trouble with the imac running slo and locking up.  HD was making noise so I copied some stuff and swappd for a new one.  added a new HD and installed os10.8.6 and set up the system.  I wasn't able to download everything i had but i saved my documents.  this was about 6 months ago.  then about 1 month ago i tried to upgrade iphoto and it was gone.  not in the icon desktop at all and not in the apps folder.  nada then when the upgrade popped up, the admin passsword that i have used forever, wouldn't recognize me.  then thee icon for the HD on the desktop went south.  can't find that either.  so I tried to open the keychain to copy the file so as not to lose that, and a new keychain folder with NO info opened.  the mac, tho, still recognizes passwords that were in the folder.  So, my fine feathered friends, what  am I to do?????  Jack

    Reinstall it:
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • IMac Frozen URGENT!

    Hi,
My iMac 2008 has frozen today whilst browsing the internet, I was using safari and iMovie was open in the background, I am running OSX Mavericks and the latest version of iMovie.
I recently sent the mac to apple for a new hard drive due to this issue corrupting my Hard Drive, so the hard drive is under 6 months old, could somebody let me know what to do as I have an essay due tomorrow, and can't complete due to this!!
    Thanks,
    Dan

You may have stretched the system resources on an a 2008 Mzc running both Safari and iMovie simultaneously.
Just run Safari and see if the system freezes.

  • Transferring iPhoto from iMac to MacBook Air

For years I have had no problem keeping iPhoto synced between my iMac and my MacBook.  I have a new Air and for the first time ever I am having trouble.
I copied over the whole iPhoto package the  first day and all was well.  Then I made some changes on my iMac and used Chronosync to update the Air.  But when I did that, despite no synicing errors, it looked like it did before.  No new pictures.
I finally got feed up and completely deleted the iPhoto package on the air and copied the whole thing over from the iMac.  It looks just like it did after the sync, the last import photo on the Air is a couple of day old and it the last import folders do not match.
So I moved the iPhoto file on the Air to the shared folder and opened iPhoto as a different Admin user.  No help.
    I am stymied.

OK this is what it turned out to be.
On my iMac a few days ago I opened iPhoto and it said the program was corrupt, not the library.  So I deleted it and installed iLife 11.  Then I tried to open iPhoto but it said I needed to update.
A few of the updates for iPhoto must be installed one at a time rather than just using the most recent update.  So I stopped one short of getting it fully up to date.
But it let me open the library.  I then added a few photos.
But since my MacBook Air was on the latest update it was interpreting the library differntly.  Those new photos weren't showing up.
When I updated the iMac to the latest version those same pictures went missing on the iMac.  Very strange but at least one of the most vexing Mac problems I have ever had is solved.
Luckily I still have access to those "missing" photos.
