IPhoto opens but the window doesn't!

Latest version of iPhoto and it opens but the window doesn't. I've reinstalled and my photos are all there in the library but there is no window? Any ideas?

Yes the files does recreate itself immeadiately. This is new information:
The Rainbow BOD happens and I can only force quit the app.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Yeah. Apparently there was a hardware malfunction. I took it too the apple store and they replaced the top clamshell. The repairs would have cost around $750 if it wasn't under warranty. I recommend buying AppleCare when you can.

Using 'Edit in' - Photoshop CC 2014, the program opens, but the file doesn't appear. Help!

I have Adobe CC Photography (great value!). I need to do some Photoshop editing of my pictures - principally Levels 0 and so use the 'Edit in' functionality.
This has worked in the past; but today, Photoshop opens, but the file doesn't appear in the PS window.
I uninstalled (using MacKeeper) a copy of Photoshop Elements 12 on my hard drive recently - could that be the cause? In any case, how do I get back to being able to 'Edit in'?

You appear to have the wrong end of the stick as they say.
Just starting your computer needs certain Fonts to be present to display the text you are likely to see.
Most of those needed to do this are in the Hard Drive icon/System/Library/Fonts.
Some apps require different Fonts and in the case of Messages this is AppleGothic (all one word) and is found in Hard Drive/Library/Fonts.
You would normally use the Apple App called Font Book to check these Fonts are working properly.
Prior to the Yosemite version of Messages (still called Messages 8 like th Mavericks version) you could change the Font use in the actual Messages in the app.
On a Character or word or Sentence basis there was the Format Menu.
There was also a Pane in th Preferences called Messages that let you choice the Font, the colour of the text and the colour of the balloons for Out going Messages and also Overriding the incoming ones.
You can no longer do this as the Preferences Pane and the Format Menu have gone.

When I open Outlook the window doesn't open with the program

When I click on the Outlook icon the program opens at the top of the screen, but the window showing my messages, inbox, etc is not opening up automatically and when I open it up using the MESSAGE VIEWER option under the Window option it lists all my inbox contents but I can not click on an email and open it up or view it in the window at the right of my screen. When I double click it a new window opens but no message.

Do you have a case on it?

When I download something from the Web, the "Downloads" window opens, but the window remains blank. Before it used to at least show the name of the file and I could open the file from the "Downloads" window. Is there a way to get this functionality back?

I'm running Windows XP which is updated to latest version (which I think might be Service Pack 3, but not positive.) Mozilla Firefox is version 5.0. I tend to use Google as my search engine so most of the stuff I download comes through sites found through Google, which is also updated.
At some time in the past (maybe a few versions ago) when I would download a file from the Web, the "Downloads" window would open and in the window would be displayed the name of the file I was downloading or had just completed downloading. I think I used to be able to then click on that file name and the file (or the installation file if needed to start the new program) would open. I am currently using Firefox 5.0 (the "About Firefox" screen says this is up to date) and when I download a file or document, the "Downloads" window appears on the screen as it always has in the past, but it remains blank, i.e., nothing appears in the downloads box. I don't remember making any configuration changes, etc., that may have caused the window to remain blank, but I could be mistaken. I know how to find the items I've downloaded (My Documents / Downloads) and can usually guess what the name of the downloaded file might be, but it used to be much easier when something (anything) showed up in the downloads window.

In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".
To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, choose Properties, under System on that small window is info about your OS.

IPhoto opens but the color wheel just spins

All of a sudden, when I open up iphoto, the last import screen opens, but I get the dreaded spinning color wheel. I have to either turn off the iMac or use the force quit option to get out of the application. I have been using iPhoto for a long time with good results so this issue has me very confused. I first noticed it when we connected our iPhone (3g) to the Mac and it launched iPhoto and wanted to sync all the photos on the phone. We generally just cancel that function. Could that have damaged the iPhoto application?

Firefox 32.0.1 installed on my Mac OS 10.6.8 and links from Mail no longer open. Click a link and Firefox opens, but the link doesn't appear or activate.

Some users have a similar problem to this, but if FireFox is already open the link from their mail client will activate in FireFox. For me, once I click a link in an email, FireFox immediately becomes the active application, but nothing further happens. FireFox has been the default browser for ages, but I stopped that, and set Safari as the default. Then quitting and re-opening FireFox I re-established it as the default browser, but the problem persists.

It amuses me that the email that was sent to confirm the posting of this question had a clickable link. Naturally that link did not work. Cutting and pasting it into FireFox allowed me to complete the posting process. Annoying.

I opened iphoto and the top bar says its open, but the program doesn't open on the screen. Can you please me?

This is super frustrating, and I'm afraid of losing my photos! Can someone please help me out! Also this is iPhoto '09 not '08.

Can you still go to the menus at the top and click on things or is the program unresponsive?
If the menus work then go to Window > Zoom.
If that doesn't help:
1.) Remove the following to the trash, restart the computer:
Your User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iphoto (there may be more than one, remove them all)
Your User > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto and / or just iphoto

ITunes Doesn't Open but the K Drive Window Does

Hey,
I was grounded and my iPod was taken form me for about a month or so. Before that everything was fine. But, when I got it back I had to Restore it buy that wasn't really a problem. The thing I am now having trouble with is that when I plug my iPod into the computer the iTunes software doesn't open, but the K drive window does. Which is the drive my iPod is labeled under in "My Computer". Does anyone know the answer to thins question help would really be appreciated.

I just forgot to say because I know it will come up that yes i cann see my Ipod when I open up iTunes. It ios jsut that the wrong thing is now being opend up and ti is sort of annoying.

Do you have any iPhoto plug-ins installed?
Open the folder /Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Plugins/
To navigate to that folder, open the folder "Library" directly on your Macintosh HD, then inside the Library folder go to Application Support, then iPhoto. Is there anything installed?

When I try to open firefox, the taskbar icon expands and associated sound starts to play, but the window itself doesn't appear.

I run Windows 7. I installed Adobe CS4, and when I tried to open Firefox after, got a popup window with a list of errors. I don't remember what they were specifically, but I believe they related to the Adobe flash plug-in. Okay, i have 2 bugs with maverick. First, when I delete a file within a window, the files deletes but the preview doesn't delete until I close the window and reopen it. Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy... When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything... Very buggy.

It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.
