IPhoto opens but window is only in Mission Control

I can see that the applicaiton is open.  When I activate Mission Control I can see the window, but cannot access it on my desktop.  I've tried shutting all windows, and restarting the app but no change.

You could however maybe trick the Dock by setting the delay rate to some high number, say  one hour.
In terminal copy and paste:
defaults write com.apple.Dock autohide-delay -float 3600.00 && killall Dock
To restore the default behavior, enter:
defaults delete com.apple.Dock autohide-delay && killall Dock

  • When i try uploading/attaching a pic why does iphoto open but closes without letting you choose a picture?

    my computer will no longer let me upload any pictures to facebook or attach any pictures through email. everytime i try, iphoto opens but before i get the chance to choose a picture, the iphoto automatically closes and it does that everytime i try.. how can i fix that?

    The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Other than that, what version of iPhoto do you have? Assuming 09 or later try
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

    iPhoto opens but then the spinning rainbow wheel appears and I can't do anything. I have opend iPhoto with the Option key pressed and rebuilt the library and it still happens.  I want to at least access my photos and copy them to an external drive. Anyone have ideas on how to get to them?

    Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • I have 2 libraries in iPhoto 09 but I can only see one in apple tv, the last one I viewed in I iPhoto why ?

    I have 2 libraries in iPhoto 09 but I can only see one in apple tv, the last one I viewed in I iPhoto why ?

    iTunes sees what iPhoto sees, iPhoto only sees one library at a time.
    Either merge your libraries or upload content from one of your libraries to a service such as Flickr and use the Flickr feature on the Apple TV.

  • Help. I downloaded the OS lion. Then I imported some photos with the "iPhoto". But I see only the photos in the "last import" but I can not see in the library or photos of events, although they are marked as a number.

    When I connect my iPhone 4 running ios 5, iPhoto '11 (9.2.1) opens, but the phone does not show up in the sidebar as a device and no option to import the photos pops up. How do I get iPhoto to show my iPhone as a device so that I can import pictures taken on my phone?

  • How do I get rid of blank pdf windows that appear in mission control? My adobe acrobat program isn't even open.

    Everytime I go into mission control I see blank pdf windows. I can't get rid of them except when I restart my computer. Otherwise I have to put them all into 1 desktop in mission control so they don't clutter my other desktops. The windows only appear in mission control and not in the actual active desktop. I've tried closing any open application that uses pdfs but that doesn't help. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

    Hi Bill,
    I came to the problem this morning with a fresh perspective and have solved the problem: I realized the text was in Cambria, so I changed it to the dependable Times New Roman. I created the PDF and NO pound signs appeared scattered around in the PDF.
    Ay, fonts!
    Thanks for replying, and have a great day!

  • IPhoto open, but won't appear

    I switched users from my wife's account back to my account.  Once I returned to her account to work on an iPhoto calendar I received a "resolution" issue on the desktop screen, but and now I can't open the appilcation.  It still shows as open on the dock (light under icon). When I use a two finger click it tells me that iPhot is checked as well.  If I try to open "show all windows" I get a small shaded buble on the desktop screen that says "iPhoto".
    I'm afraid to force quit the iPhoto application due to two calendars open at the same time.  Both of these took a lot of work and I don't want to lose them.  Im not sure if the data is saved or not.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    I have a MacBook Pro (15 inch) version 10.7.4.  I'm pretty sure that I am using iPhoto 11, but can' say for certain.

    I checked the card and it was not locked. However, I tried the card locked and unlocked just in case and it still didn't work. Thanks though!

  • IPhoto opens but the color wheel just spins

    All of a sudden, when I open up iphoto, the last import screen opens, but I get the dreaded spinning color wheel. I have to either turn off the iMac or use the force quit option to get out of the application. I have been using iPhoto for a long time with good results so this issue has me very confused. I first noticed it when we connected our iPhone (3g) to the Mac and it launched iPhoto and wanted to sync all the photos on the phone. We generally just cancel that function. Could that have damaged the iPhoto application?

    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.

  • Window (ungrouped) names in Mission Control

    I know that the if you have the Mission Control preference set to "grouped windows", the application name is shown under each window when you look at all applications. I also know that when you focus on a specific application in Mission Control (MC), the windows associated with that application are all appropriately named under the thumbnails. But what I don't see in Mountain Lion is if you have MC set to "ungrouped windows", there are no names under the thumbnails, e.g. names of my multiple Pages or Word files. Instead, I have to click the space bar while hovering over the window to see what is in each of them. The naming of all of the windows in Expose was really useful. Is there any way to get that back?
    I have a feeling that in their move to make "one system" for desktops and mobile devices, apple has decided that the names would be too small. Well, I still like to use a real computer  ---- OK, I am off my soapbox.
    Nick

    It seems to me to be the opposite of what you describe wrt to grouped vs ungrouped.
    However, if you go to App Exposé instead of Mission Control, you see the names under the windows.
    Now, where is the function in iOS that shows all the open applications at once?
