IPhoto - OSX 10.4.3
I installed 10.4.3 some time ago but seem to still be running iPhoto 1.1.1 and I cannot find garage band anywhere. Anyone have any ideas about this?
Torcs
Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
When you upgraded to 10.4 you upgraded the OS and some of the applications - Mail, Safari etc. But this has no impact whatever on the iLife apps. If you're running iPhoto 1, then I guess it's the version that came with your machine. The first version of iLife did not have Garage Band, that's why you can't find it.
If you want to upgrade to the latest version of iLife (v6 at the moment) which does include Garage Band, you'll need to purchase the Install DVD. There is no other way to do it.

IPhoto (OSX) Publish to Recently Added (iOS)
I'm using iPhoto on Mavericks and Photo on iOS 8. All my photos from my iOS devices are syncing to Recently Added across iOS devices. None of my photos from iPhoto on Mavericks (OSX) are being added automatically to Recently Added on iOS (unless they were taken on an iOS device).
In other words, the photos taken with my Nikon DSLR that I imported through iPhoto do not automatically show up on my devices.
I want them to.
Thoughts?Trevor Doerksen wrote:

Do you have Automatic upload ticked in iPhoto prefs > iCloud?
Thoughts?
Tick the box above and/or wait until Yosemite & the new Photos app comes out in a few weeks. -
First time ever tried printing a photo - on HP photo paper, using HP ink cartridges. It prints a color portrait accurately, except for eye glass frames and shadow shades which it prints in "green". I tried editing the same portrait in iPhoto to black and white and printing. Again, accurate shades of black and white except for the eye glass frames & shadow shades which printed in "green". Ruins the photo. Help please.
Hello Artiste,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with some portions of the print outs when printing photos.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also located a document on Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer Series.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
Thanks for your time.
Click the “Kudos Thumbs Up" at the bottom of this post to say “Thanks” for helping!
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

I installed Mavericks on my iMac. iPhoto didn't download fully. what to do to finish the download? It is fine on my iPad , iPhone. and MacBook. But all three items, are unbearably slow and caussing a lot of real, dangerous problems. My Macbook couldn't boot up or reboot? HELP.
Check to see if the startup disk needs repairing. If so, better to do that before finishing the iPhoto download.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can access the built-in utilities to repair the disk using OS X Recovery
Backup all important data before restoring OS X.
If the disk is ok, finish the download > Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads -
Lost my iPhoto OSX.4.11
I can find no trace of iPhoto since installing MissingSync2.0 of Blackberry
Was having a strange problem with version 1.03 of MS affecting window positions and style (icon/list/columns).
I installed on my second drive (FireWire) and it missing there as well.
I need to locate the iPhoto only install for OS X.4.11.
Anyone know where I can find a copy on the apple server.
I would even be willing to buy iLife08 just to get a working copy. Ilife 09 is out of the question. It only works on 0S X.5 and up.The installer is located on your original OS X Installer Disc One.
If you are going to do this using Pacifist then see the following:
How to Use Pacifist to Replace Deleted or Missing OS X Components
Insert the OS X Installer DVD into the optical drive. Use a simple utility like TinkerTool to toggle invisibility so you can see invisible items. Alternatively, open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and at the prompt enter the following:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes
Press RETURN.
To turn off the display of invisible files repeat the above command substituting No for Yes.
The install packages are located in the /System/Installation/ folder on the DVD.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist from VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the missing item(s) from the file archives on your OS X installation DVD. The file archives are in the /System/Installations/ folder (use Go to Folder option in the Go menu of the Finder.)
Here are Four Basic ways to use Pacifist (courtesy of George Orville.)
A. Drag a .pkg icon onto the Pacifist window .....proceed to step 7.
B. Click on “Open Package ....” and navigate to package desired and click “Open” in the open/save window.....proceed to step 7.
C. Insert Mac OS X installer CD and when it mounts, navigate to .... Menu->Go->Go to Folder.
In the path field enter or paste ....
/Volumes/disc name/System/Installation/Packages (where disc name is the name of the CD/DVD that you inserted.
• Click on the "Go" button .....
• Drag a .pkg to Pacifist..... proceed to step 7.
The package you'll need will have to be discovered by trial and error, but for most applications you should start with the Essentials.pkg and/or Additional Essentials.pkg.
D. Insert your Mac OS X install disk 1 .... and open Pacifist.
1. In Pacifist, select "Open Mac OS X Install Packages" ... dialog may appear asking for disk 2, then disk 3 and finally disk 1 again.... {if DVD is not used)...If “Stop Loading” is selected...the procedure will stop!!!
2a. When loading is complete, a new window appears, click the triangle to display contents of each package...Select item and proceed to step 7.
2b. or click the “Find” icon in the Pacifist window and type the name of the software you need.
3. In the list that comes back, click the top most entry for the item that you want. ..... that is the one for the English language.
4. On the top of the Pacifist window, click “verify” .... you will probably be prompted for your password.
5. Enter checks for.... “verify permissions” and “verify file contents.” and click “verify” ....enter password when prompted.... you will get back output which may look like this:
20 files were scanned.
20 of 20 files were present on the hard disk.
0 of 20 files had file permissions that did not match those specified in the package.
0 of 20 files had checksums that did not match those specified in the package.
6. Click “close”. Go to step 7.
Extract or Install........
7. In the Toolbar (upper left), you now have the option to extract or install. Click a file in the lower list and those two icons will be enabled.
8. If “Extract to...” is selected.... navigate to the location where the file will be placed, select “choose”, select “extract” in new dialog that appears, authenicate , if prompted, click “OK”.
9. In the next dialog, click “Extract”.
10. If “Install” is selected... dialog will appear with the location/path of the installed software. Click “Install”
11. Type in your password, click “OK”
• Pacifist will begin to extract files.
12. In steps 8/10ß.... you also have the choice to “cancel”
Notes.....
• Pacifist may find that a file it is installing already exists on the hard disk. Pacifist will present you with an alert panel....
Stop
Leave original alone
Update ..... Default selection
Replace .... Replace option should only be used on full install packages -
IPhoto 6.0.5 crashes - Quicktime
Just want to let people know that I began having crashes with iPhoto after the recent updates to IPhoto, OSX and Quicktime. This happened when stepping between photos using the arrow keys. Rolling back to Quicktime 7.0.1 solved the problem as recommended by others on this format. Here's the link to downgrade:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/quicktime701reinstaller.html
Make sure you send your crash reports to Apple!Hi! Here's what I think is happening:
- A bad image or file in those 67 photos is causing iPhoto to crash.
- iPhoto, when it is trying to import, puts those photos in a temporary folder while it organizes the photos into the Originals folder by year and roll, creates thumbnails and does general tasks.
- Every time it encounters the bad file, it crashes and leaves the import unfinished. On relaunch, it wants to start importing again.
You have to break the cycle and hopefully find the bad image file. Go into your iPhoto Library and look for a folder called "Import". Remove that folder, or iPhoto will keep trying to import from it. You can manually attempt to import those 67 photos later, to identify the bad file. -
IPhoto incorrectly syncs from iTunes
I just downloaded 6.0 on my iPad2, and now my iPhoto is all screwed up (again).
I had a tough time getting images I didn't want off the iPad, then setting up the iTunes sync from the desktop iPhoto (OSX 10.6.8) so it only sees/syncs one iPhoto folder. But since 6.0, it now has "recreated" several different folders and downloaded dozens of images (including RAW images I really don't want on the iPad) it keeps creating, then dropping images out of iPhoto that are specifically blocked from syncing.
Here's a screen grab of iTunes on the desktop that shows the sybcing setup. Any ideas what's going on and how to fix it? Thanks, BrianNormally when you set the iPod to autosync it will disconnect when the sync is complete (although still show in iTunes) where the iPod no longer says "Do Not Disconnect". However it still should keep charging.
If it doesn't keep charging because Windows shuts off the power to the USB port when the iPod disconnects, one solution is to check the box in iTunes on the iPod summary page to Enable Disk Mode. This will cause the iPod to also mount as a drive on your computer but will leave it connected until you eject it from iTunes. This will force Windows to keep the USB power applied.

To export a folder to a USB drive, I exported an album after having arranged manually the order of my photos. When the album was exported (or even copied in the iPhoto library), the order was not the same anymore, but in chronological order, by daily event.
I'm an old Mac user, new to iPhoto (OSX 10.6.2- iPhoto 11=9.2.1).
How can I keep the manual order of an exported album?
Thanks for helping me keep my sanity. The problem is that the Finder doesn't have the same sorting options as iPhoto, and instead sorts of whatever of its' options that you select - often file name.
Here's one (of several) way(s) to do what you want:
Make an Album of the photos, then drag the pics into your preferred order.
Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto. -
is the route to the developers.
Some comments: iPhoto is no longer being actively developed. It will be replaced by a new app in 2015.
You can create keyboard shortcuts for yourself in the SystemPreferences
There is no relation at all between iPhoto on iOS and iPhoto on the Mac. This is one of the areas being approached with the new Photos app. -
Shared Photo Streams not Working for me....
Hi
I have everything set up.
I can select and create a Phtostream folder and send invites out to join.
The invites arrive and when the intivtee clicks to join, they are told the service is not available right now, or that the photostream is no longer available.
I have not managed to sucsessfully set up a shared photostream either from the iPhoto (OSX) or iOS6 App.
Is there a way of resetting everything, or is this a known bug and I should wait for a software update?
Thanks in advance.Does anyone have an update on this?
I am having the same issue.
I create a shared photostream, i add my mother to it, and hit post. Then she gets an email that i shared a photostream with her, she clicks the join photostream, and it then tells her that "The photostream is no longer avaialble". What am i doing wrong? I have successfully done other photostreams with other people.
I have an iphone 5 and she has an iphone 4. Could that be the problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! -
I can not open aperture databases anymore as osx10.9 keeps telling me i have opened it with a newer version, which i have not but i understand from other discussions that thru the upgrade of iphoto osx automatically thinks that you have opened with aperture 3.5. the app store does not show me the update as i have not purchased the program thru the app store but on dvd. what to do?
If you are running MacOS X 10.9 and Aperture is installed in your Applications folder and simply called Aperture, not Apertre 3 or something, the AppStore should be showing you the update.
Have you already updated to Aperture 3.4.5 from the Support page Aperture 3.4.5?
Try to update manually to 3.4.5 and then reboot and sign again into the AppStore with your AppleID and look at the Update page.
For some forum members it helped to set the main system language to English U.S. to make the update finally show.

Why does my iPhoto open and run slow since upgrading to OSX 10.8.5
Why does my iPhoto open and run slow since upgrading to OSX 10.8.5? I have an Imac - Intel 2.5 GHz quad core I5 - with 20 GB of memory. Before the upgrade it was much faster.

I have a 3 year old MacBook Pro with MAC OSX 10.6.8, iPhoto ’09 version 8.1.2 and have downloaded two software programs: one is Aperture 3.2 and the other is Photoshop Elements 9 (which I got from a friend who didn’t need it).
I am totally happy with the way iPhoto organizes my photos and how I can work with iMovie to create slide shows with music from iTunes, etc.
I have been shooting mostly high resolution jpegs and I continue to learn more and more about photography, post processing etc. I realize that the small adjustments I can make in iPhoto are good, and are adequate most of the time. However, a have started to experiment with shooting RAW images and would like to go the next step, ie. post processing.I am totally technically challenged and need SIMPLE, INTUITIVE programs and am certainly NOT anywhere ready for Photoshop CS whatever!
After having these programs sit on my computer, I decided to try to see if I could figure them out. When I opened Aperture, this is what first comes up.
“Welcome to Aperture 3.2
Your library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of Aperture. Once upgraded, you will not be able to use this library with previous versions of Aperture.
Upgrading a library from previous versions of Aperture 3 generally takes a few minutes or less, though larger libraries will take longer. After that, Aperture 3.2 will upgrade your library's thumbnails, but you can use the application during that time.
Tip: To open a different library, quit Aperture and hold the Option key down while starting Aperture
Current Library Location:
Jadzia (home) -----Pictures------Aperture Library
QUIT UPGRADE”
I have heard horror stories about moving your entire library to Aperture, ending up with 2 libraries, etc. etc. hence my previous reluctance in attempting Aperture. In addition, many of my photography friends are saying: Go with Lightroom 3.....you’ll love it!
So here is my dilemma. I don’t want to mess around with my iPhoto library. All I want to be able to do, is to isolate a few photos, export them to Aperture, Elements, and work on them there, then bring them back into iPhoto.
Can I do this? Should I forget about Aperture and Elements and look at purchasing yet another program like Lightroom?Export those few photos via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original to the Desktop. Then import them into the Aperture library. That would keep one copy in your iPhoto library and another in your Aperture library to edit, etc.
You can use Photoshop Elements 9 from within iPhoto as your editor of choice. However, if you edit a raw file in iPhoto with PSE9 the resulting edited version must be saved outside the iPhoto Library and imported back in as a new file. For editing jpegs just do a Save (not a Save As) and it all will be kept within iPhoto.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

I just updated to iPhoto 9.4 on both my (just updated) OSX 10.8.2 MacBook Pro and my OSX 10.7.5 Mac mini.
For some mysterious reason Apple specifies that I can not subscribe to the new "Shared Photo Streams" from my OSX 10.7.5 Mac mini.
How could that be ?
How can I get around this ?
How can it be that Apple claims that 'Shared Photo Streams' can be shared to all my other devices, but it turns out that my major photo-database can't, even though it has a brand new version of last year's OSX running... ???!!!
This can't be a software issue...
because if that were the case Apple would be deliberately cutting off users of last year's operating system... (...I even think there is a law prohibiting that...)
so... can anyone tell me what the exact piece of hardware is that I am missing ?
or has anyone found a solution for this yet ?
Thanks !The only hardware that's preventing me from upgrading to 10.8 "Mountain Lion" would be the fact that a Mid-2007 Mac mini doesn't have a separate graphics card...
...as all other hardware-components ar similar to the iMac Mid 2007... :
- at least 2GB of PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM RAM
- a 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo "Merom" processor
- a WiFi-N compatible AirPort-card (I've upgraded the one in my Mac mini to an Atheros AR-9280...)
- OSX 10.6.8 or later installed (I have OSX 10.7.5)
- iPhoto 9.4
...so the only spec I not meeting hardware-wise is the fact that my Mac mini has a GMA950 shared graphics card...
but surely... that can not be the reason I can't subscribe to a Photo Stream...
why would that have anything to do with eachother ???!!!
[ I've even seen claims of tricked OSX 10.8 installers for the Mid-2007 Mac mini, so if that's my only option... ]
