IPhoto Photo Print Size

Hello Everyone,
I am getting VERY annoyed with iPhoto but it is probably simple and my issue.
I am trying to print photos which are 4x6". When I print, change the paper size to 4x6 it cuts part of the photo off every time. Its not much, and often does not matter but often it does. I cannot see how to scale the entire image to fit, and it should fit without affecting the propotions.
The number of times I have looked, and then get double annoyed as if I hit 'cancel' from within the Print Settings, it does not return to the photo I was working on... it goes back to the full EVENTS page. That is a second issue.
Can anyone help with the first one?
Thanks very much in advance
Al

What is the aspect ratio of the photos? If it is not 4x6 they something has to be cut off - crop to 4x6 before printing so you control what is cut off or on the first print window click customize and right click on the pri=eview and select fit to frame

  • Photo Print Size

    Hi,
My 02 x 152 mm (4 x 6 inches)  and 127 x 178 mm (5 x 7 inches) images are not ouputing correctly?  Images are often smaller only at times covering 25% of photo area?  What are the settings I need to pay special attention to?
Is it true that I can only get glossy photo prints from the upper tray, in other words if I wanted to print say four 6x4 inch images or similar on an A4 glossy sheet it cannot be done on this model?
Is it possible to have two images on a 6x4 inch photo sheet, if so, please state exact steps if time permits?

    Hi Bob,
Sorry my error. the printer is an All in One C5280, generally I want to print photos from images on my hard drive?  I generally scan the images to disk and order from right click functions.
Im glad of your advice, please advise on required reading to get best results from this printer...I dont as a rule use the front slots, should I?  Yes multiple small 6x4inch images are required on A4 glossy form main tray if possible....please advise best software ( free ) if possible...also paid software advice might be a good thing. A user friendly software package I suspect might be well worth the investment...Im not often printing images but when I do , an easy to use application would save much printer troubleshooting.  The printer got good reviews ect so I guessing its quite capable of good output?
Lastly ...tech support tries to assist but very slow and not quite clear is my experience.  Yesterday I was trying to print 4 small images onto glossy A4 from the main tray but each time I got a paper jam, same result after clearing the jam?   I changed the preferences in printer control panel but still the jam occurs, I cleaned rollers and other tipsgiven in HP help videos...I suspect the machine does not accept A4 glosssy....according to the manual spec anyhow...your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

  • How to change the iPhoto Photo Book Size Measurement?

    Hi guys,
I am annoyed that when I create my book in iPhoto Book, the measurement is in CM and in Malaysia, all the Book Printer is measured in Inches... I have tried changing the setting but to no avail.
    Kindly help...
    Thanks a lot...

It is easy - open the book and click on themes and select the new size - it is best to dupicate the book first incase something goes wrong
And preview carefully before ordering -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
It is possible that text can change around and be unacceptable

  • Max # of photos on an iphoto photo book & size of photobook

Is there anyway I can have more than 7 pics on one page in my photo book?
Also, I know how to preview my photobook before ordering it.  But how do I check to make sure I selected the right size book?  I would like a 12 x 12 book in hardcover.  Do these option appear after I click on "Buy Book"???  Please help...thanks!

Is there anyway I can have more than 7 pics on one page in my photo book?
It would depend on the theme you've chosen.  Some themes will allow more than 7 photos per page. Liz Castro has a website that displays all of the iPhoto 09 themes and their layouts. Many of the 09 themes are available in iPhoto 11.  Some themes allow up to 16 photos per page, Picture Book theme.
    I would like a 12 x 12 book in hardcover.
You select the book size when you select the theme. In iPhoto 11 that's in the lower left hand corner of the theme selection window:
However, iPhoto doesn't offer a 12 x 12 book.  The XL book is 13 x 10.  Also there seems to be a problem with XL books with iPhoto 11 in previewing and ordering them.  Some users report errors when they try to preview and order.  You'd just have to try and see if it occurs to you.
When you order the book the size will be displayed in the order window.

  • Crop photo for standard print sizes?

I'm looking for an easy to use App for my folks to use for cropping images ready for standard photo printing sizes (6x4", A4, 5x7" etc). Most image editing Apps offer the ability to crop. But so far I've only found 'fit for free' that actually crops to standard photo sizes. Does anyone know of any more? Many thanks ;-)

Actually I found a Canon App that looks good and apparently works for printing to certain models of Canon wireless printers as well. Might be just the ticket ;-)

  • Getting the print sizes i want

I am having an issue with photos that I want to size print. If i have a photo all ready to be printed and want to print it as an 8X10, when i put up the crop marks for 8X10, the aera that i want in the photo gets cut off. It is like putting an 8X10 box on the photo versus putting the photo in an 8X10 box. Is there a way to set the file up to print that photo to any size and get that photo to fit the crop size (4X6, 8X10, etc)?
    Thanks, Brian

I am sending them out to Mpix. When I upload the file and then go select a photo print size, i am not getting what i want. I just don't want to have photos up there and people would not be able to select the size that want and get the print to be the way it should. I know that sending the files to Mpix and how they print there is probably not a  Lightroom issue, but i just want to make sure what i export from LR is going to work.
    Thanks

  • How do I change the photo sizes from cm to inches in the new iPhoto share/print?

When I wish to print a picture from the share/print section of iphoto it lists the available print sizes in cm ie 10 x 15 instead of 4 x 6 inches. I can't seem to find anywhere to select the units that you want to use.  I am using the latest version of iPhoto.

    Terence,
perhaps Dukeasooke is using mixed language settings like me.
I found that changing "Measurements Units" did not suffice, if the region is still set to Germany. I had to actually set the region in the Language & Text preferences to a country that uses "US" units in addition to ensuring that the "US" units were selected. Also, with Mavericks it is essential  to restart the system before launching iPhoto again after changing "Language & Text" preferences, or they may not take.

  • Scan photo prints to iPhoto

I have a lot of photo prints taken on old-fashioned film, before the days of digital.
I have an HP Photosmart 5520 scanner/printer which has an option for Photo Preset. The default 'Resolution' setting is 200ppi. There are other options for 75,100,300,600,1200 or 2400 ppi.
My first question is, which 'Resolution' setting should I choose ?
The scanned size at 200 ppi for one print is 2.74MB. When sent to iPhoto its size is reduced to 1MB.
Another apparent anomaly is that although the prints are all 6 inches x 4 inches, their 'info' in iPhoto can vary from anything between 1184 x 791 to 2292 x 1498, and in size from 322 KB to 985 KB.
The digital photos I already have in iPhoto, nevertheless, are all 3888 x 2592 ; but the sizes vary eg from 3.4 MB to 6.1 MB.
File > 'Get Info' for the scanned photos says they are JPEG images and 'color space' is RGB, which I understand is the requisite . . . Can  the foregoing re scanned and digital photos be explained ?
    Thanks in anticipation

My first question is, which 'Resolution' setting should I choose ?
Depends entirely what you're going to be doing with the Photos. Jpeg is a lossy format, so as you edit each time you save some data is lost. If they require intensive editing, then the more data the better. Are you going to print them? Depending on your devices and the quality you hope to achieve, then perhaps the old 300 dpi for printing is a reasonable rule-of-thumb. If you're uploading them to the internet, say flickr or whatever, then 100 is fine. So, it depends on your proposed usage.
The scanned size at 200 ppi for one print is 2.74MB. When sent to iPhoto its size is reduced to 1MB
iPhoto doesn't reduce the size of anything on import. Where are you seeing these sizes mentioned?
Another apparent anomaly is that although the prints are all 6 inches x 4 inches, their 'info' in iPhoto can vary from anything between 1184 x 791 to 2292 x 1498, and in size from 322 KB to 985 KB.
No anomaly here. Your computer has no "inches" everything is measured in pixels. So the fact that an image is 6x4 in the real world is of no relevance. What matters is the pixel dimensions you choose to digitise (or scan) it. You can create a scan of you 6 x 4  that will be 600 x 400 pixels. (@100dpi) Or you can as easily create one the will be 14,400 x 9,600 (@2,400 dpi)... In other words, don't expect a direct correlation between what you hold in your hand and what you make on the screen. They're different worlds...
But again, iPhoto doesn't change anything on import, so I'd be looking at the scanner for explanations of these variations.
As to the file size, remember not all pixels are the same. An image that is pure white or pure black will have a smaller file size than one of a richly coloured sunset, and will also depend onn the resolution you scan at - so again, no direct correlation, it's a complex equation.

  • The photos printed in my iphoto '11 book have come out fuzzy?

The photos printed in my iphoto '11 book have come out fuzzy. they were fine the first time i had them printed, why have they come out fuzzy second time?
I printed a book for a relative a couple of years ago to celebrate his 21st. then this year his younger brother also turned 21, I printed a new photo memory book and used some of the photos in his older brothers book in this new one. Those photos that were used in both books came out fuzzy in the second one when they were fine in the first one. Why could this be and can it be rectified?

Did you use different versions of the photos or different sizes? Have you now used a different iPhoto version? The book templates changed between the versions.
Compare the printed book to the PDF preview of your book. The printed book should look exactly as the preview, see:   iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
If you want to return the book for a refund, use the "Report a problem" link on your email receipt.

  • Transfer photo prints to iPhoto

I have photo prints from old fashioned film rolls.
If I scan them, can they be put into iPhoto Library, and if so, will they behave the same as any digital picture ?

    It is scanning to RGB:
    Color space : RGB
    Color profile : sRGB IEC61966-2.1
If this as you explained, can I get it out of the A4 size white area it is set in, and will it perform as a standard photo if I want to print it off ?
These are settings on your scanner. I would guess is that you've put a snap on the scanner and scanned. it has now scanned the shot and the whole scanner bed. Hence you get what looks like a white page with the snap in the csntre?
If so, the best I can tell you ia to read the manual for the scanner. I can't advise you as I've never used a HP. But I'll bet that there is a facility to select just the snap to scan and not the whole bed, and that's what you are looking for.

  • HI, I have a Canon Pixma MG5250 printer and it doesn't seem to recognize iPhoto. All my photos are in iPhoto but I can't access them when the printer's 'photo print' box comes up.  Any suggestions? thanks

    Hi,
    I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.8
I now have a Canon Pixma Printer MG 5250 and it doesn't seem to recognize iPhoto, where all my folders of photos are in the computer.
All other aspects of the printer such as scanning and printing documents are working.  When I open the printer's
'photo print' box on my Mac, it cannot access iPhoto.
I would really appreciate any feedback and suggestions as to what to do.
    thanks.

If you want to print a photo that's in your library you should do so from iPhoto.  Select the photo, crop to the size you want to print and type Command+P to start the print process.  In the Print window select the paper size and print size, printer and then click on the Print button.

  • After last iPhoto update, my 8x10 photos print in the negative.

I run on OS X Mavericks & iPhoto 9.5.1. All my 8x10 photos print only in the negative. Meaning where something is usually blue and green, it prints a crazy red yellow negative effect. All other size photos print fine. This is true even when printing from Preview or any other photography app. I'm not sure sure if this is an iPhoto issue or not but I would really like to print some 8x10 photos.

Terence, thank you. My terminology was incorrect as I did mean to say printer driver. I had a very hard time trying to even update the printer driver as since my computer knowledge on Mac's are not the best. In the end, I deleted the printer, restarted my system, and added the printer. It now works! I really appreciate your help!

  • Photo printing from Iphoto 09 using epson r200 printer

Mac Mini, Iphoto 09, Epson stylus photo r200 printer.
Hello, I have been trying to get a decent printed photo (6" x 4" high gloss photo paper) using the above. All I seem to get are very poor quality prints. There does not seem to be a way of telling iphoto what medium I am using or the correct resolution I wish to use. Can anyone help !

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
If paper type is available it is in the printer specific options on the second print window - select the photo(s) you want to print, click print, select the printer, paper size and print size and click print - in the resulting window any available printer specific options will be in the pull down line toward the bottom of the window - if they are not click on the gray triangle to the right of the printer name to open the full window -- note that the available printer specific options are controlled by the printer driver - not iPhoto

  • Print 2 Photos (A4 size) on one

    Hi
I have 2 photos in iphoto, both A4 proportions
I want to print them side by side (like 2 x A5's) on a piece of A4 paper so i get the pair next to each other on A4
    Is this possible ?

Yes. Select the two photo and click on print. Select A4 for the paper size and a print size that will allow two photos per page. You can use a Custom size to maximize the size of the two photos on the one page. Something like this:

  • Can no longer print selected iPhoto photo with HP printer

iPhoto 09. Cannot print selected iPhoto photo with HP printer. I select the photo from iPhoto Library, go to File>print. The screen for Print comes up with another one on top of it that is blank but with text "Print...Processing 1..OK".  Clicking OK prints from that screen "Print, Processing page 1" (on correct 3x6 photo paper in black!).
I have run Apple Software Update. Run Permissions with problems (one: "Permissions differ on Library/Printers/h...". Have reinstalled iPhoto which has left one icon on Dock and 3 on desktop: iPhoto 07-27-19.app; iPhoto.app; iPhoto Library that I don't know what to do with with them, so just use the one on the dock which opens iPhoto Library.
Believe I read that after reinstalling iPhoto, a plug-in (possibly third party plug-in for HP?) must be installed. I have updated my HP printer to latest driver.
Would you advise how I can print photos in my iPhoto Library again, and also get those iPhoto icons off my desktop which only confuse me.  Thank you for your prompt attention.
    Out-of-patience Great Gramma

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
