Iphoto photos won't export

I have some photos in iphoto I copied off a jump drive.  They don't act like the other photos in iphoto, for example, they won't export to my website but my other iphoto photos will. Also, when I look at the events, they don't show up.  It is like I can see them, but not manipulate them the way I want.

This might be a file permissions issue:
Download BatchMod from
http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/
And apply it to the iPhoto Library Folder using the settings found here:

  • IPhoto '08 won't export pics

iPhoto '08 won't export any files. I've tried jpegs and tiffs and iPhoto 08 just hangs during export - I've had to "force quit" it - any ideas? I've tried exporting just one pic and let it run for close to 5 minutes before giving up.

Try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys and launch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If that doesn't work try trash the com.apple.iphoto.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder.

  • Iphoto 08 won't export modified version

    Hi!
I'm having some real trouble here. I modify my photos in iPhoto, but when I export the pics, it exports the ORIGINAL version, not the modified version.
I've even gone into the iPhoto library package and found the 'Modified' folder for my photos, and they're the SAME as well! I have NO idea what is going on here. The only copy of the actually modified photos that I can find is the thumbnails in the 'Data' folder inside the iPhoto library package.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks so much!

    paxrasmussen:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you able to get the modified version if you just drag from the thumbnail to the desktop? Or is it not working that way as well as the File->Export method?
Try rebiulding the library as follow: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the option to rebuild just the database.
    Happy New Year
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Some photos won't export as versions

A proportion of photos from various projects won't export as versions, either JPGs or TIFFs. The files themselves aren't corrupt as I can open them in Photoshop and then save them as JPG or TIFF files or whatever I want. I though it might be library that was corrupt but I rebuilt the library and the probem still persists and with the same photos.
I have my library stored on a RAID system. I've stored it before on a RAID setup but always using Apple's formatting software to RAID the HDs together. This is a hardware RAID system so the computer reads it as 2TB when it's really two 1TB drives together. It is then formatted with the standard Apple DIsc Utility. This is the only difference from before and I've never had the problem until now.
Could this be the problem? Could fragmented files on this drive be the problem? Any suggestions welcome.

The way you have described your issues sounds like you are running a referenced library where you have easy access to the files through the finder. Is it possible that in the process of accessing files through the finder that some have been moved or had attributes changed? The way to identify this is by the badges that Aperture displays on an image, pg.291 of the manual see below.
To display badge overlays on images in the Viewer:
1 Do one of the following:
Â Choose View > Metadata > Customize (or press Command-J).
Â Choose Aperture > Preferences, then click Metadata.
    2 Select the Viewer checkbox.
3 From the Viewer Set 1 pop-up menu, choose a metadata view that includes badge
overlays. Some examples are General and Ratings, as well as Viewer-Basic and
    Viewer-Expanded.
    4 Close the Preferences window.
Badges are now visible in the Viewer.

  • IPhoto 6 Won't Export Slideshow Audio to QuickTime

When "exporting" iPhoto 6 albums to Quicktime the audio selected in iTunes does not export with the selected Album photos. iPhoto "Help" says that iTunes' music selected for the slideshow also will export as the Album's "selected" music. But the slideshow music selection will not export to QuickTime with the iPhoto 6 photo album. Has anyone solved this problem? Thank you very much for any suggestions you may have!

My situation is a bit different. I can not seem to export a "slideshow" without getting that awful sample music.
The process is File>Export>QuickTime. No Make Slideshow and then export.
From the Help files I am supposed to create a slideshow and then select music from iTunes in the SlideShow settings menu. Of course, I've now got a slide show with a huge filesize I didn't want. Delete isn't that big of a step. So now it is back to File>Export>QuickTime and check the box to add selected music.
Of course, there is no way to know if the music has been identified and included in the export. Just trust, I guess. OK, make the export happen.
Now, open the QuickTime movie file I just created. Once again, that awful sample music has been included. I've done this so many times with the same result.
Work around is to export the images as a QuickTime movie with no music. Then open the QuickTime move and add music.
Any idea as to why Apple put that stupid music checkbox in the File>Export menu if it only grabs the awful sample music?

  • Duplicate Photos Won't Export

    Hi all,
I'm trying to export photos to a file and they are "unable to create/users/laurieleewalsh . . ." I went to my package contents to try to find the originals and the package contents looks way different than the last time I've gone in there. I couldn't find the originals file - where are the originals now?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

I might be totally missing it this morning . . . I right-clicked on the iPhoto icon in Applications. I scrolled to and opened "Show Package Contents" . . . and here is what is in the "Contents" folder:
(When I've done this before I've immediately seen the "Originals" folder.

  • Slideshow Transitions in iPhoto 3 won't export to QuickTime

    Hello,
Would anyone be able to offer any suggestions/solutions to the problem I'm having with Slideshow transitions in iPhoto? I like the Cube transition, for example, and it appears on the screen when I tell iPhoto to play a slideshow that I am developing, but when I go to export same as a QuickTime movie, the transition in effect is Dissolve and not the specified Cube.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Sincerely,
    ByTheLIghtOfQuiveringAspensMade

    BTLQAM:
Can you give us some additional information regarding your setup: model, RAM, hard drive size and free space, system version, QT version, and exact iPhoto version?
You will have to update to iPhoto 5 in order to be able to get other than the dissolve transition in your iPhoto QT slideshows.

  • IPhoto '08 won't Export

For some peculiar reason, my iPhoto '08 has decided that it will no longer export. When I go to the Export option under >File and click "export", it does nothing. I've restarted and it still does the same thing.

I was finally successful at making this fix after trying many of the suggestions from all of the users on this and other forums - not one of which worked, including removing all Internet Plug-Ins, and a complete re-install (GRRR).
    The fix was simple:
    - Quit iPhoto
    - "Get Info" on the iPhoto application (in my case, version 7.0.2)
    - At the bottom of the iPhoto.app info window, open the Plug-Ins pane
    - iPhoto '08 installer sometimes leaves TWO file export plug-ins installed, the older one for iPhoto '06 (titled "FileExporter.iPhotoExplorer") and the newer one for the new iPhoto '08 (titled "FileExporter2.iPhotoExporter")
    - UN-CHECK (to disable) the first FileExporter plug-in (the one not containing the number "2")
    - Not necessary to remove the plug-in
    - Close get info box
    - Relaunch iPhoto.
For me at least, files immediately exported just as they did in iPhoto '06
I hope this helps someone else.

  • IPhoto '11 9.1.5 won't export photos

I just updated to iPhoto '11 9.1.5. It won't export photos as usual, just says "unable to create/(folder name)/(photo name)" Stupid thing. Thanks. Chelaye

I recommend doing all your software updates.
You might be able to do all your updates through the Mac App Store or have to do it in combination with "Software Update..." found under the  menu.

  • IPhoto won't export photos without restarting iPhoto

i'm running snow leopard and the newest update of iPhoto '09. I can export photos just fine, but if I try and export photos a 2nd time, the progress bar from the previous session is still there and I can't choose my export options (nor can I do anything but "cancel") this happens EVERY time since upgrading to 10.6. So if I export photos and want to export a 2nd batch, I have to restart iPhoto. fail.

I have the same problem. In the new Snow Leopard, not only can I not export any photo from iPhoto to any other directory, but I cannot use iPhotos to Set Desktop. Nor can I drag any photo out of my iPhoto folder to another folder.
I also cannot use the Preferences Desktop/Screen Saver feature to load an iPhoto into the Desktop. The iPhotos photos display, but they will not appear in in the little preview window. Only a large question-mark appears. The program allows me to use the Apple-supplied photos, but not the ones in iPhoto. If I attempt to load an iPhoto photo into the box, it deselects the current photo and reverts to the picture of the aurora.

My iphoto will not load, all it does when i open it is just show a blank iphoto and won't load any of my photos that were already in there. Any way to fix it ?

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • IPhoto won't export from some folders.

I'm trying to get all my previous iPhone photos sorted into year groups so that I can import them as Albums into my shiny new phone.
In iPhoto I created five folders labelled by their year and pulled images into the respective folders.
I dock my iPhone, and in iTunes I select the folders I want to import from, however, iTunes tells me that some of those folders are empty.
I go back to iPhono and attempt to export from the suspect folders, and this cannot be done, either by File> Export, or by simply dragging nd dropping. The OK folders behave normally.
Why do I see images in folders in iPhoto, but I'm unable to export them?
    Any clues welcome.

In iPhoto, Folders cannot contain Photos. Albums and Events contain photos. Folders can only contain Albums or nested folders.
So are you referring to Albums or Events?
Anyway these photos won't sunc because iPhoto can't find them. In the case of the message you're getting it sounds like you Referenced them when importing.
Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

  • IPhoto won't export cropped iPad and iPhone screen shots

I started a thread for this thinking it was affecting my whole iPhoto library, when I export a cropped image I get the original. I thought I'd solved it by rebuilding my library, then realized the issue was only manifesting with iPad screen shots. I tested it on iPhone screen shots too, same issue. Photos taken with any camera, even the iPad camera are fine, I can crop and export those. Any iOS screen shot refuses to export a cropped version. I tried all the different choices for "kind" in "export."
Is this a new feature? You have to be sure to crop a screen shot on the iPad or iPhone before you sync to iPhoto?

Mac mini 2011, Mavericks 10.9.2, iPhoto 9.5.1, iPad Air iOS 7.0.6, iPhone 5S iOS 7.0.6

What format is the external drive the Library sits on?
Rather than trying to move libraries try repair the existing one:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.

  • My iPhoto 2 won't import videos from my camera, only photos.

Like the title says, my iPhoto 2 won't import any videos from my Cannon SD1000 digital camera, only photos. A friend says it's because I have an old version of iPhoto, which is true, but when I looked for updates it basically told me I need to purchase a new version of iLife. What can I do about getting a newer version of iPhoto, or making it so it imports videos? It's inconvient using the softwear that came with the camera only for a few videos. Thanks, I could use any help.

    JordanFox,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Your friend is correct; iPhoto 2 does not handle video files. You'll need at least iPhoto 5 to keep videos in your library. There is no other way to get it than to purchase a copy of iLife, either version 5 or version 6. Upgrades from one version to another cost money, updates within a version (ex; 6.0 to 6.0.6) are free downloads from Apple.
Try using Image Capture (in your Applications folder) to upload the video clips to your Mac. You can manage them yourself in your Movies folder.
    Regards.
