Iphoto, pictures are shown several times in an event.

What's happening if the same picture in iphoto is shown twice or more in an event? Are these pictures saved on the hard disk more than one time or are they just in this event shown several times. Is it sufficient if I'm blind out the double? Thanks

I found one work-around, but I hope there's an easier way:
1) Right clip on the corrupted clip, and select "reveal in finder",
2) Duplicate the clip and drag the duplicate to the desktop
3) Select File->Import->Movies...
4) Navigate to the clip on the desktop, select "Add to existing event", select event, and click "Import"
5) The clip will be inserted in the original event, just before the corrupted clip

  • Roles and Worksets are indicated several times in Top-level-navigation.

    Hallo Experts,
    I dont understand why the Roles and Worksets in the Top-level-navigation are displayed several times. How can I change that?
    Thank you very much
    regards,
    Galyna

    Hi,
    Which roles do you see several times?
    If it is the home tab than you might have assigned yourself for example, eu_role, eu_core_role and cc_role.
    If under the Home you see for example the Company, Work, Team... worksets twice than again you might have assigned yourself for example, eu_role, eu_core_role and cc_role.
    If these are administrative roles than might have assigned yourself these roles through multiple groups/roles assignments.
    If you will say exactly which roles/worksets you see several times we will be able to help more efficiently.

    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

    Using Windows 7 and LR 5,  when I look at the Keyword List a certain keyword has 7 pictures but when I check the Library Filter with that keyword 350 pictures are shown which includes the 7 pictures that have the keyword.  Why does the Library Filter showing pictures that do not match the query

    Dan,
    Here's what's going on in the catalog you sent me, "Joel & Caitlin's Wedding".  There is the keyword "gwenn", which is explicitly assigned to 7 pics. But keyword "schwartz" has a number of synonyms, including "gwenn", and it is assigned to 25 pics.  There is no overlap between the two sets of pics.
    I discovered these two occurrences by doing Metadata > Export Keywords, opening the exported file in an editor, and then searching for "gwenn".  I found two occurrences of "gwenn":
    gwenn
    schwartz
        {gwenn}
    From this, you can see that the keyword "schwartz" has 9 synonyms, of which "gwenn" is one.
    The filter criterion "Keywords Contain gwenn" will match the 7 pics that are explicitly assigned the keyword "gwenn", and it will also match the 25 pics assigned the keyword "schwartz", because that keyword has a synonym "gwenn".
    This illustrates the behavior I mentioned above: The criterion "Keywords contains x" will match against any of a pic's assigned keywords, any of those keywords' ancestor keywords, and any of the synonyms of the assigned keywords and their ancestors.
    So LR is operating correctly here, if not in a way that's easy to understand.
    It appears that you are using the synonyms of "schwartz" to represent individual members of the Schwartz family.  A better way of representing family relationships is to have a parent keyword "Schwartz", with subkeywords for each family member, e.g. "Gwenn Schwartz", "Joe Schwartz", "Jane Schwartz", etc.  Repeating the family name in the subkeywords has a couple of advantages. LR usually only displays the "leaf" name of a keyword, so instead of showing you just "Joe", it will show you "Joe Schwartz", helpful when there are a number of different people whose first name is "Joe".  Also, if you ever export your pics to other software, it may not understand the LR hierarchy and won't show the parent keywords, so again it's more informative to see a keyword named "Joe Schwartz" rather than "Joe".

    Where did you get the device?  Is it possible that it has an IT policy on the device blocking Facebook and/or Facebook options?  Look in Options >Security Options >General Settings (actual menu paths vary with OS version) and see if there is any reference to IT policy.

  • Iphoto 11 edited pictures are shown in reduced size

    Hello,
    maybe someone has a tip:
    I have imported some very important Jpegs from a Nikon D90 to Iphoto. Then right click and edit in external photo editor (Photoshop). After finsihed editing, hit the save button. Closed the photo in Photoshop, and returned to Iphoto, where the new enhanced image show up.
    Up to here "everthing normal".
    Now, opening a day later Iphoto, I can see the thumbnails of the event (as usual) , BUT when clicking on them, a heavy reduced file size picture shows up for a second, followed by a heavy zoomed in part of the Image. First I thought, okay, at least the high resolution image is still there, and I only have to zoom back with the slider to get it to normal view - but this is not possible. It stays this size.
    To save the pictures, I used the function "show edited Picture"in FInder, and so I started Copying them to a separate Folder, in fear i might loose them.
    So, pictures are saved, but library is somehow not working right. I also used the "create new thumbnails" function when starting Iphoto with command/alt. But it did not improve anything.
    Any idea how to fix it?
    Regards
    Michael

    If you're running Lion or Mt Lion that library folder will be invisible.
    NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
    Once you make your library folder visible you'll be able to find and delete the iPhoto cache.

  • Persistent ScriptUI Dialogs that can be shown several times.

    Hi all,
    I love ScriptUI and all its possibilities. But every time I try something new I fail for at least some days
    Here is my newest conundrum: I try to do something that involves selecting a menu item along the road. Assembling all menu items in a tree view takes up to 20 seconds so I would like to build that dialog only once and call it repeatedly from the main dialog.
    The test setup illustrates the problem:
    var w = new Window("dialog");
    var d = new Window("dialog");
    d.closeDlg = d.add("button", undefined, "Close Dialog");
    d.closeDlg.onClick = function () {
         d.hide();
    w.openDlg = w.add("button", undefined, "Open Dialog");
    w.cancelElement = w.add("button", undefined, "Cancel");
    w.openDlg.onClick = function () {
         d.show();
    w.show();
    The first click on "Open Dialog" looks as it should. But when you cancel d and click again, the sub dialog contains nothing and is off the screen.
    I can correct the latter (d.center() before d.show() ), but not the former.
    Help says "When a window or container is hidden, its children are also hidden, but when it is shown again, the children retain their own visibility states."
    I tried to show the children in a d.onShow() function but so far with no success.
    So my question is (thank you for reading this far):
    Can this be done? Can I build a complicated dialog once and call it several times from a different dialog?
    The only other option I can think of is to build an ugly super-dialog that contains all the controls of the main and of the sub dialog. bah.
    Thank you
    Gerald

    Duh...
    Peter I feel stupid. Of course. Thank you for pointing that out to me
    I updated the zip in the mentioned post, in case anyone's interested.
    Harbs, I save a lot of details in the list items themselves instead of maintaining an additional array. So removing all listitems would mean I lose e.g. the info which menu item is applied to which script.
    So rebuilding the list would mean quite some changing of my datamodels. I will keep that in mind for future projects, though. Thank you

  • IPhoto - pictures are not populating

    All of a sudden, my pictures within iphoto are not populating. I can see the outline, but the pictures are not there.

    Hi Van,
    did you do anything right before this started happening?
    did you have a crash or have to force quit iPhoto?
    Did you rename any photos or folders in the iPhoto Library folder in the finder?
    do you have the latest version of iPhoto?
    have you tried a rebuild yet?
    Try this:
    Before doing a rebuild make sure iPhoto's trash bin is emptied. You can do this by control clicking on the trash bin, or from the menu bar under iPhoto.
    Close iPhoto
    Duplicate the iPhoto Library folder
    Drag the duplicate to the desktop (hopefully you have enough room on your hard drive for the duplicate.)
    Launch iPhoto holding down the Command and Option keys until you see the rebuild options screen.
    Choose the first three options. If you were missing photos in your library, also choose the last option. Be advised that you will get a roll of orphaned photos and it might be quite huge. Most of them will already be in your iPhoto library, but use caution when deleting anything from this roll until you are sure the photos are still in your library in another place. It might be a good idea to share/export this roll of photos just in case you need to import them again.
    Back to the rebuild, depending on the size of your library it might take some time. When it is done, hopefully your photos will be there.
    You might see some unexpected results as I did when I did a rebuild. Photos had been moved to wrong dates, video clips had lost their duration info and some were even orphaned from the jpg pointer file. It took me some time to straighten it out again.
    This is the reason to make a duplicate before you rebuild, in case you do not like the result. If you don't like the result, close iPhoto, then delete the rebuilt library and drag the duplicate back into the Pictures folder making sure the name is iPhoto Library. Launch iPhoto and it should open the library in the Pictures folder.

  • After backing up the 2008 macbook pros harddrive the iphoto pictures are all gone!

    A third party company made a backup of my 2008 Macbook pro by taKing the hard drive out of my 2008 macbook pro the videocard broke and i had nochange to do the backup by my own :( so i needed to go somewhere specialized and i paid 125$ for getting the conete harddrive backed up including all my photos music documents. After all the repairs from apples side were done i felt that the harddrive sounded kind of bad so i went back to the apple store and they told me they have to replace the hardrive and if i have an backup which i thought i had, so that was 2 days ago. As i got my macbook pro back from Apple i brought it to thd place who made my backup. All was saved on their extrernal hardrive but all my photos (iphoto) are gone :( they cannot find them anymore on the drive Nd they couldn't do anything for me :( now my macbook is fixed but all my memmories i kept as pictures are gone and i spent 125$ for a backing up my pictures and now they are all gone :( is there anybody out there who may can halp me tell me what to try ? Maybe my old harddrive where did apple sent it to? May i can get it back or could it be on the. Backup drive but under the library or iphoto folders are just some pictures :( like 500 . But there is one corrupt file which i also cannot open :(
    I need help :( thank you

    1. Reinstalling iPhoto has no effect on your photos. The iPhoto application is totally seperate from your iPhoto library
    2. Is you backed up correctly and restored correctly nothing would change
    3. Given your report it is clear that you dopi somethinfpg incorrectly. However since you do not tell how you backed up or how you restored it is impossible to guess what you did wrong or if itpt is possible to fix
    4. Exactly step by step howvdid you back up your iPhoto library and exactly how did you restore it?
    5. Do you have a TimeMachine backup or clone of your iPhoto library from before you did this?
    6. What version of iPhoto '11?  There are many different versions

  • My iPhoto pictures are all gone after upgrade to Photos

    Can anyone please help!!! All my pictures from iPhoto are all gone after upgraded to Photos tonight. Anyone know how I can recover them?

    Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
    If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
    Install the App from the App Store.
    Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
    One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
    iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library.
    BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • After I import from my camera, my pictures are not showing up in my events. But I can find them in Last 12 months. Any ideas why??

    After I import my pictures to iphoto, I can't see them in my events.  I can find them in last import or last 12 months.  Why did my pictures stop showing up in events???

    They have not - your events are sorted manually - go to the view menu ==> sort events and select your choice of event sort order

  • IPhoto pictures are missing

    I wanted to put pictures on my MacBook with my Camera, but when I opened iPhoto, all my pictures were gone! Where are they? How can I find them?

    Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
    In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IPhoto pictures are yellow?

    I was testing out iPhoto on my school's computers because I plan on buying a Macbook for college. I had a bunch of black and white images and they all turned yellow when I went to slideshow. Is this a problem with this version or are all iPhotos like this. The yellow is really annoying...

    Is there a way to have the pictures not be yellow? I read comics on the computer and having them all yellow would be a total pain. Any ideas where i can click on a bunch of pics and put them into RGB or someway for iPhoto to not turn them yellow? Would there even be another program with a slideshow function I could use?
