IPhoto - pictures do not load

Hi everyone...
new on the Mac Forum and trying to find my way around here...
Anyway..I have a question regarding iPhoto:
I have only one iPhoto Library on my harddrive and was in the process of adding new photos. Whilst doing this iPhoto crashed. When I reopened the application only a few photos were loaded in iPhoto.
I checked the harddrive and all photos were still located in the "Original" folder on the harddrive.
After that I closed iPhoto and opened it again whilst holding the option key...this gave me the possibility of choosing the library...I chose my library but still only 14 of approximately 4000 photos loaded but you still can see all my folders and albums in iPhoto (but they are empty).
Does anyone has an idea how I can get this problem solved without rebuilding the whole library...I have done this before and it took me ages...
Thank you very much in advance for your help
Lars

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Try download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
Failing that, I'm afraid you're down to rebuilding - unless you have a back up, of course.

  • IPhoto: Pictures will not open/cannot import from Digital Camera

    hey guys!
I'm just recently having problems with iPhoto. I can open pictures on my iMac when clicking on them through folders itself, but when I go into iPhoto and try to double-click on the thumbnail images which show up to make them full size, they do not open..the wheel just spins to show its loading but the pictures do not load.
Also, when i click IMPORT to import pictures from my digital camera, the wheel also just spins and it does nothing again, and says it couldnt import the pictures as they are an unrecognized file, which is weird as this had all worked before.
    thanks!

Hundreds of my iPhoto pictures will not be copied and will not show when I double-click on them.  When I do in iPhoto an exclamation surrounded by a triangle appears.  Though I can see the picture in the small tiles below it will not expand.  I also cannot attach any of these pics into an e-mail or into any other file.  I have already went through all 3 Repair options and when that did not solve it went through a complete Rebuild.  Any Help?!  Any Suggestions on how to fix this?!  I have spent almost 2 days now going through all of the published help.
I have backups going back 6 months - I have not had the real need to check every album before - but - all of my backups also have this same problem.

The triangle with the ! indicates that the connection between the thumbnail and the orginal is missing - this can be caused by many things including database corruption and user action emoving the originals photos on urpose or by accident
If the database is corrupted then rebuilding is the solution - backup and depress the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild your database  --  if the iPhoto rebuild does not cure the problem then download iPhoto Library manager and use its rebuild command which creates a totally new library leaving the existing one untouched
If you have deleted the photos then you need to start over with a new library and import the photos you have not deleted into it
You can select one of the problem photos and use the reveal original in finder commander (file menu) to see if the original is there - if it is a finder window will open showing it

  • Some pictures are not loading correctly. If I 'right click' and go to 'view image' it opens it on a new page and then when I go back one page it appears. Can you advise what the problem is?

On several sites pictures do not load properly and there is just a black where the photo should appear.

Had a problem to start with and then re-loaded Firefox version 9 and restarted the computer. So far all seems to be now working correctly.

Sometimes when I surf the web (especially sites like Facebook.com), pictures will not load. They turn into little blue check marks. Eventually, none of the pictures on the webpage will load. I have to shut down Safari, reboot my computer, and then pictures load again for a little while. Any advice? Please help!

  • 6.22.81.105 - group pictures do not load and canno...

I installed 6.22.81.105 and it works fine - everything that should work, works, except for one thing - group pictures do not load, and even if I try changing them myself, they do not appear for me or other users other users can see them, but they do not load on my computer. I have tried disabling my firewall, restarting, reinstalling, and have even used a packet sniffer to see if anything was failing to load for no reason, but it appears that it's just not requesting anything to begin with, for no apparent reason.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This has not been announced anywhere, but in Skype 6.22 version it's possible now to change profile pictures for new Cloud-based group chats. The old P2P chats are still shown without profile pictures.
Exactly the opposite is now the case with the previous 6.21 version.

  • IPhoto '11 does not load pictures from photostream

    Hi guys,
i've got a problem on my MacBook Air 13" 2011 which I can't solve by myself.
I also did a lot google action but it won't let me figure out, why my photostream is not loading in iPhoto '11
I deleted the picture-libary, I deleted every data which contains 'iPhoto' in the Data-Name in the Libary Folder. I deinstalled iPhoto '11 multiple times from the Mac App-Store.
And yes it is up to date.
I also deactive and activate iPhotostream in iCloud.
    Can anyone help me?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • IPhoto library is not loading in any application that uses it, how do I fix

I am unable to get iPhoto to load, I am not sure what went wrong. Can someone please tell me how to resolve this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sebastian

    Hello Sebastian,
When you say it does not load do you mean you cannot see the pictures that are in iPhoto in other programs like iDVD, iMovie, iWeb etc ?
Do you see anything listed at all or is there perhaps a message that appears where the images should be?
Do the pictures show up in iPhoto?
    Try:
Remove the following items to the trash and restart the computer:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iphoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
    ~/Library/Caches
If that does not resolve the issue then try testing with a new iPhoto Library:
    1. Hold down the option key
    2. Keep holding down option and launch iPhoto
    3. Click on "Create new"
    4. Save the new library
    5. Add a picture to it
-- Does this new library work?
If it does close iPhoto and hold down option and re-launch to switch back to your original library.
The follow http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638 to rebuild the library. Use the "Rebuild iPhoto Library database..." option.
-- If the new library does not work try creating a new user account on your computer and testing iPhoto there to isolate the issue further.

  • When I try to email a photo as an attachment the iphoto file will not load

When I try to email a photo as an attachment the file will not load?

Open iPhoto, and then go to Preferences (under iPhoto in the menu bar).  Check these two things:
    1.  Under the "General" tab, make sure you have set "Email photos using" to "iPhoto".
    2.  Under the "Accounts" tab, be sure your email account information is set correctly.

  • Pictures will not load on one certain web site

The pictures on any page from <www.gizmag.com> will not load. It is the only site I have ever had a problem with.

Do you see the images in Tools > Page Info > Media (http://images.gizmag.com) ?
Make sure that you do not block third-party images.
Verify that the pref <b>permissions.default.image</b> is set to <i>true</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page.<br />
You can open about: pages via the location bar like you open a website.
You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
    * Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
    * Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
    * Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
    * Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
    * Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
    * If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
