IPhoto pictures not loading

When wanting to send a photo or upload (like to facebook and other sites) it to something I get the list down the side, I click Photos then iPhoto but nothing appears.  It says to open iPhoto to see pictures.  iPhoto is open but I cannot upload pictures without dragging them to my desk top!!

It does show my pictures in Mail.  I used to be able to upload pictures to anything by clicking on photos then iPhoto but it hasn't worked since the update!!

  • Iphoto library not loading

Iphoto has not loaded since about 44 unwanted photos were sent to trash from the library file in pictures. I have since read the piece on tamper. But can anyone tell me if and how I can fix this? The files are still in 'trash'. Cheers.

Hope someone out there could help me out. I was working with iPhoto trying to import pix onto my new iMac G5 from a card reader. Kept trying to load but nothing happened. Turned off the computer to try again. When I restarted it the iphoto icon was gone from the dock (instead I had a icon that was white sheet of paper with an"A".) When I opened the new icon, I recieved the message "YOu cannot open the application "iPhoto" because it may be damaged or incomplete." Can't find my pix; not in the trash, either. I tried to rebuild a library but now the new library is empty. Can't figure out what happend to my 3000+ pix . I also went to my external hard drive and the pix aren't there either. HELP! Anyone? (I am a brand new Mac user after using PC for 20+ years.) Please tell me there is hope.

  • Iphoto does not load, can anyone help?

My Iphoto does not load and I can not import any videos or pictures.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 10 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • IPhoto Will not Load even after reinstall

All of a sudden, iphoto will not load....I receive this error:
Iphoto cannot be loaded because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure that iphoto works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application.  Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
I reinstalled iphoto from the disk (so now I have iphoto and iphone (original) .....i reboot and then try to access the new iphoto....same error.  iphoto library appears ok. I can still attach a pic via "photo browser" button in email.

I was able to get it fixed. I had received some responses and they had me
recreate the library I believe.  It's been a while so I cant remember
exactly what I did. I have since upgraded to the latest i photo version and
have had no problems with it.

  • Iphoto will not load

Iphoto will not load and has not opened since my Mac book pro was new.  It will just stick in the start up mode with the pinwheel spinning, (no color, large wheel)  I am running os x lion 10.7.2, updated iphoto software to 9.2.1 and tried trashing iphoto.plist file with no luck.  Any ideas?  Thanks, Keith

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Iphoto does not load into iDVD- too many photos?

Recently upgraded to Leopard 10.5.6 and iLife '09. Ever since, iPhoto will not load into iDVD (iphoto 8.0 and iDVD 7.0.3). When trying to open current and new projects in iDVD, the project opens, and plays, but the photos from iPhoto never load, the loading icon just spins on and on. When I open a new document, the same thing happens. Tried trashing preferences in both programs, reinstalling iLife, and reparing permissions. All software updates are current. Still won't work.
I am starting to wonder if it has to do with the number of photos I have in iPhoto, which is about 4000. The photos loaded with no problem until I upgraded. Could it be that the upgrades in iPhoto just make the files too large, and it's too much to expect that many photos to load? Does anyone know how many photos is too many,— or can you suggest anything I have not tired that might work?

This is from Mac Help. It is a good idea to create another account to use in troubleshooting situations such as this. After you create the new account, open iDVD from that account. Try creating a small project to see if you are having the same problems. Post back with your results.
_Adding a new user account to your computer_
You can create individual user accounts for each person who uses your computer. Each new user has a separate home folder and can adjust his or her own preferences without affecting other users.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Accounts.
If some settings are dimmed, click the lock icon and type an administrator name and password.
Click Add and type the user's name.
If you don't want to use the short name generated automatically, type a new short name. (Once the account is created, you won't be able to change the short name.)
Type the user's password in the Password and Verify boxes.
Type a hint to help the user remember the password if they have trouble remembering it at login.
Click Parental Controls and select options to determine what the user can do with the computer.
If you change your mind while you're creating a new user account, click Delete to cancel.

  • IPhoto library not loading since lion upgrade

    Hi,
Since upgrading to lion, iphoto will not load the iphoto library anymore. iPhoto starts with the error message "your iphoto library is either in use by another application or you don't have permissions...". iPhoto was perfectly running on 10.6 (a few days ago) and luckily i have some time machine backups from before the lion upgrade.
    So i tried
-to start iphoto with option+control and rebuilt the library. Unfortunately it stops with item 9000 or something.
-tried to rebuild the library with iphoto library manager, but it causes so many problems with duplicates that i stoped the process. I guess it would probably fix the library but too much hassle.
-tried to restore the library from time machine -> same error message
Has anyone experienced same behaviour after upgrading to lion? It's too bad i can't just restore from the backup (i thought that's the point of having it) but may lead to the idea, that the iphoto application might be corrupted. I tried to download the ilife image from my university's software distribution server again, but last but not least, lion does not support the server version anymore "the version of server you are trying to connect is not supported...." So no download right now...
Thx for any help and hints
    regards, dorian

  • Pictures not loading up in safari/firefox

    hi
im using facebook and many of the applications on it
for the past two weeks the pictures which usually come up, initially come up as a box to show the picture is loading up, then the box just disappers with no picture at all.
i try the exact same sites on my pc and it works perfectly fine.
also, there are many websites which simply load very slowly in comparison with my PC. any thoughts?
    thank you in advance
    m8edy

More on my trials - I am still unsure what "reload the Webkit" means. But I am determined to keep my G5 usable, for myself, for at least another 4 years. So what to do?
Updated to the latest version of the OS which happened on July 1 - 10.5.4
I loaded the latest versions of iPhoto, iDVD, (iLife 08 programs), then performed a Software Update to get all of these packages up to date. I obtained the latest FaceBook uploaders for iPhoto and Aperture, and installed them alongside the latest incarnation of Firefox (#3 it be) Experimentation ensued.
    iPhoto
I attempted to upload files from iPhoto - kept getting failures that the export utility could not log into Facebook. so no go
Firefox browser and Facebook java folder browser
Attempted to start an album and then get Facebook to find files on my computer to upload into my Facebook account, from within Facebook using Firefox . no go again - this is where Firefox fails and there I am - looking at the desktop and seeing a message that Firefox would like to post the failure to the developers. hmmm not looking promising here
    Aperture - using 2.1
I went to the Export Utility, selected Facebook Exporter, logged into the Facebook account (sounding promising - but not ready to make a happy dance yet) selected files, existing album was the destination, then pressed "GO". Took a long time for the half dozen files, and there was a note in the bottom of the Aperture window indicating an upload was happening. Took a awhile and so I went for a TV break, and almost forgot about the upload.
When I came back, Aperture was quiet - no message. So I left Aperture and went to the Facebook page. The pictures were there. I sort of looked stunned - success?
Success with the Facebook Exporter for Aperture v 0.5.2 - yes
But this is not a cheap fix, as Lightroom is my preferred source for culling photos, but there is a fix without having to use another Mac in the house. So, I'm feeling much better now.

  • Some iphoto pictures not usable as desktop background

I want to set my desktop background as a slideshow of my favourite iPhoto'08 pictures. While experimenting, I've discovered that some of my iPhoto pictures don't seem to work as a desktop background.
Here's what I do (and note that I'm translating from a Swedish version of OSX here):
Right-click on the desktop, choose 'Change desktop background'. In the 'Desktop and Screensaver' dialog, Desktop tab, scroll down the left-hand side list of iPhoto albums (among other things), and select my favourite iPhoto album (Flagged). Wait for the previews to load. Select one of the pictures.
Now, what happens can be one of two things. Either I'll see a slightly bigger preview in the left upper corner of the dialog and I'll see the desktop background change to the picture in question. Or I'll only see the slightly bigger preview in the left upper corner, and the desktop background will turn a boring solid color.
Now, iPhoto itself has no problems with these pictures, and shows them properly. Also, if I use the little + below the left-hand side list to add a folder on the harddrive directly to the list, I can get the broken pictures to show up correctly, as long as I don't go through iPhoto.
So, yeah, that gives me a potential workaround: Export my favourite album now and then, and use the exported folder as background slideshow source. I'd rather have a better solution, where things just work like they're supposed to.
The pattern I've noticed is that iPhoto-modified pictures work fine, non-iPhoto-modified pictures don't seem to work. (That is, if right-clicking on a preview in iPhoto has the menu item 'Show original file' active, the picture will work, if the item is greyed out, the picture won't work.)
A relevant detail in this may be that I've set iPhoto to not copy imported pictures into the library.
    Any hints, clues? Now what?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
I think this relates to using a Referenced Library:
iPhoto-modified pictures work fine, non-iPhoto-modified pictures don't seem to work.
In other words, iPhoto will share the files it controls (the modifieds are inside the Library Package) and not the ones that it wont.
Simple test: Create a Managed Library (Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library', import a few pics and see if that works as expected.
