IPhoto printing a border when it shouldn't

One specific picture in iPhoto is printing out with a border, no matter what I do. I have the paper size set as custom (7.5x5.5), and I have tried printing with print size set to both borderless and custom (also 7.5x5.5). How do I get it to print edge to edge on my paper? It is not shrinking the design within the border, it is cutting part of it off. I have never had this problem on any of the pictures I have printed before. Thanks

Unless you crop teh photo sot the same ratios (75x55 for example) then it will not fit the print size and something will be cut out

  • MX920 prints in italics when it shouldn't

I have a MX920. My computer uses Windows 7. Occassioally, and seemingly at random, a document will print with a complete line in italics, when it is not italicized in the program (Word, for example). Thsi has happened in Word and in pdf files. Even stranger, the italics is just for a complete line; the line before and the line after is normal. And still stranger is that ocassionally it prints with italics slanted to the left (not to the right). Has anyone seen this? I susepct it is a printer issue since it happens in Word and Acrobat Reader.

    Hi DestinLeB,
Although the problem seems to occur sporadically, performing a print head alignment on the printer may resolve the issue.  To do this, please follow the steps located at the link below:

  • Order prints with border through iPhoto

Is there a simple way to order prints through iPhoto's Kodak service and have them include a border?
It seems in order to use the iPhoto print order service you need to have 1 click ordering turned on which only give you a single option of "Buy".

The only way I've found is to use photos that have a border when viewed in iPhoto.
I have a way that isn't that easy for a one-time but it works if you order frequently. I use Pages from iWork '08:
    # Go to Page Setup in a Pages blank document and create a 4x6 (or whatever size you order) custom page.
    # In Page Setup, choose this to be your page
    # Drop in an image from the Media window and size it as you would like
    # Define the image as a placeholder from the Format> Advanced menu
    # Save this as the template for your photo
    # Next time you need a photo with a border, just choose the template
    # Drop a photo into the photo that exists on the template, the new photo will replace the one in the placeholder
    # Print, then in the Print dialog choose Print PDF to iPhoto
    # A photo with a border is placed in iPhoto. Order that one.
It's a pain for just a border, I know. But you can add text, graphics and inset photos and stuff to your Pages template and get a nice photo with custom artwork - at that point it's far less trouble than using the web-services that places offer.

  • Print outs have thin border when -default-background-color is set

Hey everyone.  In my application the print out have this very thin border.  The -default-background-color is set to #333333 (dark grey) and this is the problem.  When I set the color to #FFFFFF (white), the thin borders go away.
When I set the default-backgroun-color to #FFFFFF, my loading screen is white.  I don't want that.
Does anyone know how I can have my loading screen with a #333333, but not have the thin border lines around my print outs?  Setting the border properties on the printed component doesn't work.  The problem is with the background color.
    Thanks for reading.
    Tom

Still hacking away at this problem.
I thought I had the fix until I deployed the AIR application.  Setting the -default-background-color to white worked fine when running from flex builder, but when I installed the application.  The "borders" are still showing.
Has anyone had any experience with this?  I'm printing Point of Sale receipts and they look like crap with these lines around them.  On top of this, some printers print differently.  The HPs print a border around the whole component. The Brother printers just print the left and right.  One of my customer's printers just prints the bottom and right borders.

  • IPhoto 8 simple border width

I would like to change the width of the border when I choose "simple border". The default width is too wide. If I crop to 4 by 6 and print with "standard" I get uneven borders. I am printing on a Epson R260

Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and try again. As far as picking borders for 4x6 prints. I get even borders for all of the border options unless I choose a layout with text. Then the bottom border is larger to accommodate the text.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 goes to sleep, but often wakes up when it shouldn't

HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 goes to sleep, but often wakes up when it shouldn't.  This happens over and over.  It used to sleep until I sent something to be printed. I now shut the printer down, but that takes a long time to start it up.

When you finally get around to looking at my post, never mind.
I reset the factory defaults on the printer and reauthorized my WiFi network.
    Now it is working.

  • Printer not present when trying to connect even though drivers have been installed

printer not present when trying to connect even though drivers have been installed

    Hi Marc,
If you are having issues with printing from your iMac I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
    Mac 101: Printing (Mac OS X v10.6)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3771
    Specifically -
Troubleshooting steps you can use if there is an issue
Ensure the printer is connected, has power, has ink / toner, paper, and no alerts on its built-in display.
Network based printers should be on the same subnet; you shouldn't have to worry about this if your printer is on your home network.
Use Software Update for the latest available updates.
Delete the affected printer from Printer & Fax System Preferences, then re-add the printer.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system (see below). Then, add the printer again.
If the issue persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers from here. Then, add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Brett L

  • IPhoto Slideshow Image Quality when export to IDVD

Aloha ... I have two issues that I am having problems with when I export to IDVD. My images look very fuzzy (originals are very high res and print quality images} when exported to iDVD and a DVD is made. Also in the show my vertical images look fine and fill the screen yet on iDVD they are made shorter/squatier and upper and lower parts of the original image are lost. The format is wide screen as is the show. I am using a LCD wide screen TV if that helps. Any ideas out there?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you cropping your photos to the 16:9 ratio before creating the widescreen slideshow in iPhoto and exporting them to iDVD for a widescreen project? Most digital camera images are in the 4:3 size ratio and don't convert well to the widescreen. Also check the aspect ratio that you're playing the dvd in as that can have an effect on how the slideshow looks.
Also remember that the images going to iDVD will be reduced to 640 x 480 (normal TV) and slightly larger for the widescreen version. So the pixel dimensions of the original image are not that relevant.
    Happy Holidays
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. • Best way to prepare photos for iPhoto printed book

    Hello,
I was wondering what would be the best way to prepare photos for iPhoto printed book on a Macbook Pro so to achieve the most realistic results to what's on the screen
ie. which software should I use to change photos from RGB to CMYK, photoshop or iPhoto itself. I'm guessing maybe the autofix feature in iPhoto? (I don't have Aperture)
Secondly, which monitor color setting should I set the screen at? I'm guessing it's either Apple RGB or Colour LCD, maybe even ColorMatch RGB?
Any any other tips that people can give in achieving the most realistic results to what you have on the screen when your printed iPhoto book gets sent back. I don't want the mid tones to disappear or become too bright because the gamma and color settings were different to what they use at the other end.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
The situation has changed a little, our original photos are in RAW format and some of them are slightly over saturated in the higher tones.
I've read on other threads that it is a good idea to run the 'Enhance' tool on all photos before sending the iPhoto Book away.
Since iPhoto's 'Enhance' tools seems to do a lot of helpful things like sharpen, adjust the levels, etc it also seems to notch the contrast up and this would prove destructive for the lighter and darker tones not captured by the camera's dynamic range.
So as I've been advised it's best to use Apple's own tools before sending the iPhoto Book away, so I'm going to download the trial of Aperture.
Does anyone have any more recommendations on which monitor colour profile setting to use etc. I've also read that iPhoto prints best from JPEGS so the RAW will obviously need changed. Will Aperture automatically save to Profile name: Camera RGB Profile after I've done some editing there?
What would be the best way to prepare RAW images in aperture where some of them might need an Image Overlay in Photomatix then imported back to Aperture for printing an Apple/iPhoto style Book?
    Many thanks

  • Non standard format images from the iPhoto print service

Can anyone tell me how to get the iPhoto print service to leave my images alone? They default to filling their 10 x 8 or 7 x 5 paper sizes. Nowhere on the order form do they tell you they're going to do this and I can't find anywhere to tell them not to.
They also supplied the prints in neat card wallets with "Do not bend" in nice red boxes printed on them. These were then dispatched in a plain white envelope with no such notices on it. Not surprisingly the prints arrived bent!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. When you click on the Buy button the available print sizes that Apple provides are displayed and you have to fill in how many of each you want. There is no custom size available, at least here in the states. What size(s) did you select in the order window?
Didn't you get a similar window over there?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. • IPhoto printing on Canon MP640

I'm having problems printing from iPhoto using WiFi. The printed photo in no way resembles the preview: sometimes the prints are cropped, sometimes borders appear on three sides etc. However, when I use the USB connection, the prints are fine. I'm using what I think are the latest drivers (CUPS 10.30.3.0) - any suggestions why the WiFi connection should behave differently and what I can do about it? I'd prefer not to reinstall the drivers, as it took several hours last time and I still don't know what I did to get it right!

The v10.30.3.0 driver is certainly the latest. Check that both the USB and the WiFi print queue are using the same driver version.
What you will notice is that all the selections made in the iPhoto print dialog don't stick when you then get to the next print dialog window. But you should still see a preview of the image at this print dialog and it should still look complete. If you don't see the image, ensure you click the triangle next to the printer name to see the print options.

  • IPhoto '11 quits unexpectedly when ordering a book, gets about 2 pages loaded and then quits.

IPhoto '11 quits unexpectedly when I place an order for a book.  After about 2 pages are uploaded or processed (the first step) iPhoto quits.  Software is up to date and I have ordered books before in earlier versions of iPhoto.  This is the first order in iPhoto '11.
iPhoto has quit unexpectedly before but this is consistent when ordering a book.

I have the exact same problem. If you try to "export as PDF" the same thing happens even with a new book project with no text and no photos. (You can make a PDF via the print command but that doesn't help much when ordering a book.)
I deleted the iPhoto plist, did a restart, checked for bad fonts, checked and rebuilt the iPhoto library, tried signing in as a different user, checked for updates, repaired permissions, all to no avail. (I don't have any third party iPhoto plug-ins.)
I happened to have another hard drive with a fresh OS on it - I installed iLife on it, did a software update. I opened iPhoto and picked my existing library and everything worked with out an issue and I was able to order my book.
I assume that there is a software conflict in my system, I just don't have an idea what it could be.
I think I'll wait for 10.7 and get a new hard drive and get a fresh start - unless someone can come up with a solution...

  • Color option in IPhoto printing

I'm guessing there is no way to use color profiles for specific paper in Iphoto - right?
So, when I'm using the print driver (Canon pixma 6600)what do I set the Color Option to in order to match screen colors? None or ColorSynch or BJ Printer.
Under None and Color Synch the colors are less saturated than screen. Under BJ Printer they are a bit too much saturated.

    Hey
iPhoto does not manage colour per se, rather all colour is managed by Colour Sync (applications/utilities/colorsync utility).
In iPhoto-Preferences-advanced there's a check box for adding a colorsync profile on import. At least in iPhoto 6 there is not sure if iPhoto 5 has it. Either way colour will still be managed through the central color sync engine.
Sorry I can't be more help than that - i use iPhoto for sorting and storage but do all my colour editing in Photohop. iPhoto preserves the camera profiles (or sRGB) so i'm happy!

  • IPhoto prints tiny pics, can't get real size

Running iPhoto 6 and every time I try to do a contact sheet or multiple pics on a 8.5 x 11 page, it makes them so tiny, an inch small, the rest is all white space. what on earth am I doing wrong?
    Thanks for any help.
    CW

In the Print dialog box, when you select Contact Sheet in the Style menu, there is a slider control for how many photos to put across the page. Set it to a smaller number to make the photos larger. Click and drag the control to the left or type a smaller number in the box to the right.

  • After years of no problems I can't print photos. When I select print I get the message "There are no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed this feature will be unavailable.  What are themes? How do I install them?

After years of no problems I sddenly can't print photos. When I select print I get the message "There are no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed this feature will be unavailable.  What are themes? How do I install them? Why has this problem suddenly arisen?

Re-installing does not affect your Library in any way. You don't delete it, only the app.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.
