Iphoto quicktime w/ captions?

Is there a way to export a quicktime movie of my slideshow from iphoto so that it includes the captions. I can see the captions fine if I view the slideshow within iphoto. After I export, all I get is images.

Not with iPhoto. You will have to use iMovie and manually add the comments as subtitles. I don't know of any 3rd party apps that will include either comments or titles when saving to QT.

How can I restore iPhoto titles and captions to iPhoto JPEGs sent to, and opened in, Aperture 3?

Thank you very much, Kirby.  Your suggestion was exactly what I needed.  It proved to be a big help even to my One-to-One Aperture trainer at the Naperville IL Apple store.  My slideshow text, caption, and music attributes also were carried over intact to the new Aperture 3 environment.  - A.Z.

  • IWeb '09, iPhoto, QuickTime Crashing on Opening

These applications began crashing upon opening: IWeb '09, iPhoto, QuickTime.
They were working. Maybe, just maybe though, it's connected to making some changes in Font Book not properly.
I did an Archive and Install. I did a Permissions Repair.
    What now?

    Hey
If you think it may be caused by a third-party font that you installed, try a [safe boot.|http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455]
That will clear the font cache, and load only system fonts. That's the only thing I can think of to do with fonts, that wouldn't have been resolved by an A&I.
    Good Luck

  • I cannot view video clips in iphoto. quicktime used to open automatically but no longer

I cannot view video clips I created and syncd from my iphone into iphoto.  Quicktime used to open automatically.  Now it wont for some reason.

If you have iPhoto 8 and Lion then download and install QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later.  That should let you view clips in the iPhoto library.

  • Ios iphoto "add a caption" removed if photo exported why ?

Where outside iphot can the captions be viewed
    - I've synced a photo folder from itunes to my ipad.
    - Worked on them all in iphoto so they are edited and given them each a caption
    - Now to get them to my computer I've decided to copy to camera roll.
    - I've reopened iphoto and it updated the new photos in camera roll but it has WIPED the captions.
I have seen the same if I try to export to itunes then reopen in iphoto on ipad.
What is the point of using captions in iphoto if you cant save them in any other app and read them. They are not saved in the EXIF or IPTC info of the image, as I've looked at that in Photoforge2.
When will iphoto for ipad get an update its workflow needs tweaks to make it amazing, it doenst need a re-write.
I really want to love this app stop making it hard to use it just isn't apple.

Apparently captions are used only in iPhoto. Not sure why.

  • IPhoto/Quicktime slideshow to Facebook

I created a photo slideshow with music in iPhoto '08, which I then exported to iDVD and ended up with a Quicktime movie in QTP 7.5.5.
I would like to post that video with sound to my Facebook page and thought I had successfully done so -- until I realized there was no sound. I have the same problem when I try YouTube, video but no sound.
My ideal venue for this video is Facebook, so could someone please give me a step by step to correct this issue?
    Thanks

I have a related (I think) problem. The uploaded Quicktime movie with sound opens on facebook on my iMac but not for facebook friends on pc's even tho they have Quicktime.

  • FrontRow and Quicktime Closed Caption Scaling and Enabling

Currently, FrontRow renders Text tracks (for example Closed Captioning and Subtitles) to the same resolution as the Video. A low-res Video will have blocky, heavily anti-aliased text.
The same video played Fullscreen from Quicktime Pro or iTunes doesn't have these Artifacts. Text is smooth and crisp.
Hopefully FrontRow 2 will render Text tracks at the same resolution as the Display.
Enabling and Disabling Text Tracks and Supplementary Audio tracks needs to be addressed in FrontRow too. Quicktime needs improvements, but at least it is possible.

I would recommend, in addition to this topic, you send Apple some Mac OS X feedback directly:

  • Quicktime Pro captioning for iPhone/iTouch

Okay bear with me here, I am a teacher for the deaf/hoh. My students have a iPhone for their classroom use and I want to enable closed captioning on their iPhone. We are using a webcast like iTunes U. Here is the dilemma.
I have a Quicktime pro and was wondering how do I create captioning to ensure captioning will show up on the iPhone. I understand that most iPod/iPhone device requires SCC format so that captioning will show up.
I am already using MovCaptioner (http://synchrimedia.com/) and the developer gave me an advanced copy that has SCC enable. I already installed a closedcaptionimporter.componment for Quicktime pro. Mostly, it has not been successful because Quicktime reads a binary numbers instead of text.
    Question,
Is there a way around without using SCC so that captioning will show up on the iPhone/iPod?
Why the didn't Apple have SCC codec if iPhone/iPod would have closed captioning?
Please help, I do not understand why of all things considered. I been a loyal Apple user for years and I love the ease of using Apple. However, working with Quicktime and ensuring captioning will show up on the iPhone/iPod is such a difficult thing.
The deaf/hoh kids needs the educational benefit and they are behind in their hearing peers. Hope you understand my dilemma and the question I am asking.
    Thanks!

Try Muxo. SRT is a much easier format to deal with. I can't even import scc with QT Pro! I wasted time reading articles about SCC and copying tracks with QT Pro... This makes adding srt tracks to m4v's very easy:

  • Script for Quicktime Closed Caption

    Help please-
Using the basic script I've found online to produce closed captions, I seem to have problems with timecode-for example, captions don't always appear or disappear on time(some do and some don't).
Is there a trick to the script layout to improve caption performance?
    thanks!

Do you want to be able to have them both recording at the same time?
I have had a little look through quicktimes dictionary and there doesnt really seem to be much there in regards to changing the source of the sound for recordings.
So i would suggest at looking to altering the preferrence file for quicktime player before you send it the activate command.
What you are going to have to do is to get the InputID line from within the preference file. Use the little script below to get the information about the inputId. So open quicktime, set the input to one of the two you want. Close it run the script and save the information somewhere, so you can compare it later on. Then open quicktime again change the preference to the other input you want and run the script again. Then you can compare the preference files and see what is needed to be altered to get it to record from the different locations.
set quickpref to (do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults read com.apple.quicktimeplayer CapturePreferenceDefaultMovieAudioDevice")
The script should work but i have only tested it on my computer, if it fails either spotlight for com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist or get it from users/library/preferences
A little tricky i know but hopefully shoulnt be too hard once you have narrowed down the items that need to be changed.
If you dont know how to alter your preference file with a script post the results and the items that change from what and to what and i will give it ago.

  • Importing and displaying captions from Aperture to iPhoto

I'm using Aperture as my main photo library, then exporting select pictures with a copyright watermark on them. Then I'm importing those watermarked photos into iPhoto so that I can drag them into albums in iWeb (so the watermarks show).
I'd like for the captions to show under the photos in iPhoto, but instead the keywords do. I can't find a place to require iPhoto to display the captions other than the little caption window in the lower left of the window.
Problem is, I need the captions to chow up ultimately under the photos in the iWeb albums, but they don't. Instead, it's the keywords that show up, just like they do in iPhoto. My reasoning is that if I can get the captions to display under the photo in iPhoto, they will do the same in iWeb (I could be wrong on this).
So the ultimate question is: how to get iPhoto to import and display Aperture-entered captions and then pass them on to iWeb.
I've seen a few variants on this topic, but none that specifically address this issue.

    Randy
There is no way to make iPhoto display the captions under the Photos in iPhoto. For specific help with iWeb, try posting on that forum.

  • Captions in iPhoto for Mac

It is easy to caption photos in iPhoto for iOS, by clicking "Add Caption."  How do you caption photos in iPhoto for Mac?  Where is the iPhoto for iOS caption stored in the Exif data?

    Terence,
Thanks once again.  At least in my version of iPhoto, the words "Add a description..." do not appear when you are looking at an individual photo, although they are there when looking at an Event.  In my ignorance of iPhoto, I did not know that the dialog box was even there in the absence of the "Add a description..." indication.  Once I found it by moving my cursor over there, I was able to type in the description (as well as the Title in the similarly unlabeled dialog box above.  See below.

  • IPhoto Name as Photo Caption in Book?

Is it possible to automatically import photo titles from iPhoto as the caption in a book? I have a large project I am working on and I don't want to re-type each caption. Thanks!

I'm with AlienCamel on this one. I just captioned a picture (Titled it and added text to the Description) and then exported it. None of the fields are labeled "Caption" and the exported file has the text I added to Description and Title correctly handled. It looks like the Folio theme will use the Title as the caption, not the description as would make sense.
It really doesn't matter when the Title/Caption is created: even if you edit it in iPhoto, it updates immediately in the book. So it's really just a matter of finding out what things are called. So you can edit it outside of the iPhoto/Aperture toolchain.
If you want a look at this stuff, you can get the Finder into on the picture and you'll see what's there to work with.
So to answer the OP's question, yes, you can. But some of the themes have placeholder text to Description that is not needed.

  • Photo Captions in iWeb '08

Hi I am new to iWeb, having just purchased a new iMac with iLife '08 installed. I had been using a shareware program called "Better HTML Export" with iPhoto '04 to quickly create photo albums for my website, which worked well, but I have been looking forward to using iWeb which promises to be even easier.
My question is this: is there a way to use the "description" field in iPhoto as the caption for a photo in iWeb? Better HTML Export has a feature where the image title is displayed beneath the thumbnail for an image, but the description field text is displayed beneath the full-size picture. Can I do this in iWeb?

I had the same question, and cutting and pasting would be too laborious for my purpose.
In essence, I am accumulating hundreds of photos that have names, keywords, and descriptions. I can create a smart album (perhaps due to a customer query) using these words within iPhoto and then publish that smart album to iWeb. If a particular smart album has 50 photos, I wouldn't want to cut and paste the description field in iPhoto to the name of the photos in iWeb.
I would imagine it would be easy to add the ratings, keywords, description field, or other photo properties to be displayed in iWeb automatically - but wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't.

  • IPhoto slideshow music problem.....

When the slideshow is played on the iPhoto Application in the computer, it plays all the music listed in the album chosen. HOWEVER, when exported to a CD disk it will only play the first song and then no more music for the rest of the slide show. This has been frustrating.....

    Hi John,
this has been a know glitch that shows up for some .
Only one song exporting with Slideshows
Right now, this seems to be a know problem/bug. There have been some work-arounds. Don't know if the problem is with iPhoto, Quicktime or a combo of both.
-From Bob Worthington: re-ripping the cuts I wanted as background music for the DVD as a single cut in iTunes. I then made a playlist containing the one extended cut of music.
-Old Toad: share to Quicktime from iPhoto and then import the resulting movie into iMovie you can extract and delete the audio from the video and add the two songs to the video and save.
Quicktime Pro-open the movie and bring up the Movie Properties menu window. In the top window select the audio track and delete it.
If you want more than one song you'll have to join them together with iMovie or some other application. Then open that joined file with QT Player. Then do a select all and copy. Now go to the QT window of the movie and select the Edit->Add to Movie menu option. You don't want to scale it because it will change the play speed of the audio unless it's time is exactly the same as the movie.
You could go the other way, open the movie, select all and copy, and then past with scaling to the audio. That will change the speed of the movie and transitions to fit the audio track. In this case the resulting video file will have the name of the audio track file that you started with.
You may have to play with it a bit to get exactly what you want. Be sure to work with copies of all the media files for the project.
-Peter Burtwistle: I opened the Qt movie that iPhoto makes when you export to iDVD and removed the sound track.
Then made a new soundtrack by opening all three songs in QT, then cutting and pasting them together.
Finally use QT Pro's 'Add to Movie" option to add the soundtrack to the original movie.
This worked well and was fast to do too.
-Joe Lombardo: I ended up having to extend the songs by 20 seconds so I brought them all into GarageBand and made some edits. Then I exported them all to iTunes as a single track and used that for the slideshow
From scotty321 at MacOSXHints.com: If you have Roxio Toast Titanium installed on your machine, you can join unprotected tracks yourself by simulating a disc burn. Simply take these steps:
Go to the Audio tab in Toast.
Drag your audio files from iTunes into Toast.
Reshuffle them in the proper order within Toast.
Go up to File: Save As Disc Image. Save your disc image somewhere on your Desktop.
Choose Utilities: Mount Disc Image. The CD will mount on your desktop, and iTunes will think that you just inserted a CD.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go through the import process, and you've got a joined track! Simply rename the track to whatever you want to call it, and you're good to go.
    From Lori...
    Burn the playlist in iTunes.
Make sure you have itunes Prefs just open the Cd and not automatically play or import the songs.
Insert the burned CD and iTunes will open.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go to Advanced>convert selection to AAC.
When done, make a new playlist named after the slideshow.
Put the new combined track into the playlist.
In iPhoto, select this playlist for your slideshow.
