IPhoto rotating randomly, scrolling issues

since updating to iPhoto 6.0.6, photos that appear in portrait in the top thumbnail viewer then flip to landscape in full mode when viewed, as well, when scrolling up or down using the scrollbar on the right, the program flips back to the selected photo instead of remaining where you have scrolled to
is anyone else experiencing similar problems?

What system version are you using? One of your posts indicates 10.4.9 and the second 10.4.7. Which is it? Also which version of Quicktime? The latest is 7.1.5. The 10.4.9 update and 7.1.5 QT update fixed a number of problems that iPhoto had.
If you're not at those versions run the 10.4.9 COMBO updater and the QT updater followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility.
If you're at 10.4.9 and got there by the Software Update route, try running the COMBO updater. It can fix issues that the incremental updaters cannot.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Welcome to the Apple Community.
I assume you are referring to the screensaver. You can change the photos used by the screensaver in the screensaver settings. Note if you have a large number of photos in the collection you choose for screensaver, not all of them will be used due to the limited storage available to the Apple TV.

Scrolling issue in iPhoto '11

The screen in iPhoto does not scroll in synchronization with the scroll bar. As a result, I cannot scroll through my photos/events. Is anyone else having this problem/does anyone have a solution?

When you add photos to a book in a batch they are displayed at the right in chronological order no matter what order you can them in an album or event. Click on the Photos button at the bottom to see the photos at the right.
That behavior a bone of contention for many users. Send a bug or feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
Regarding the autoflow: it seems to be turned on as default. Report it as a bug also to Apple.
At the bottom of the pictures tray at the right will be a button titled Clear Placed Photos.
The photos will be removed from the pages of the book and will remain in the photos tray at the right.

Macbook Pro Late 2010 random graphic issues

Hi Apple Community,
for a short time i have randomly graphic issues. They appear randomly. If i scroll with the mouse or switch to another app, the issues disapperas.
Here is a picture of the issue. It happened in Chrome, Firefox and now iTunes. I have OS X 10.7.2.
Anyone an idea? I hope it is no hardware problem :-/

T440 scrolling issue

Hey everyone,
I have a T440 and I have noticed that sometimes when I am two finger scrolling it will cause the screen to jump upwards (I am using reverse-Y axis scrolling; when it is non-reversed it causes it to jump down). It seems to do this at random - no matter if I scroll fast or slowly it will do the jump, maybe 30% of the time. I have installed all hardware updates, and everything else is up to date, so I am not sure what it could be/what else I could do to solve it.

I have a Dell xps studio 8100 with inteli7 OS and using the latest version of iTunes
I have been experiencing scrolling problems in library of iTunes only the bottom 3 lines change when scrolling down and only the top 3 lines change when scrolling up leaving the middle of list static.
This scrolling issue is only evident in iTunes library I can page down and I can change mouse wheel settings to compensate but this will result in problems in other programs and browser, the normal wheel setting of 3 runs perfectly in all other situations and other programs and browsers, the problem only associated with iTunes Library.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes to no avail, I have also disabled multi screen function no change.
I have searched through a lot of forums and note others have similar problems but as yet no fixes that help my situation.
Any help or guidance would be welcome

IOS 7.1.2 fixes scrolling issue?

just like the title saids, does the new update from iOS solve the issue with scrolling? i really want to get rid of it, it drives me nuts. otherwise, hope someone can give me some advice on how to get this finally right.

This is still an issue in 7.1.2. Reducing motion in Accessibility Settings does help a little bit, but I still see the issue.
This happens in several apps. It is even occurring now as I am writing this in Safari. Sometimes it scrolls fine. Other times it goes off in a random direction. If I try swiping my finger to go further down the page (from bottom up), it randomly scrolls up the page instead.
Thhis is issue is extremely annoying and has made web browsing nearly impossible.

Scrolling Issue with Yoga 3 Pro

Hi guys,
Got myself a yoga 3 pro and i really like it! It has got a few issues though... The one currently frustrating me the most is shown in the following video:

Google Chrome somehow doesn't work well on this laptop. As you can see the UI renders in funny angles, then sometimes even stays like that after scrolling. But this mostly just happens while scrolling and then when the scrolling is complete, it renders fine again, particularly on longer webpages and PDF's. Also the scrolling itself is very laggy and sometimes not responsive, although this might also be the touchpad not reacting that well - I have to say i had a macbook pro before this and that touchpad is unbeatable (the rest is **bleep** hehe).
I couldnt reproduce the same issues on Internet Explorer (somehow no surprise, it being a windows thing and all). Firefox has laggy scrolling but almost no rendering issues of the same kind (when used heavily, it also happens though). When used heavily (high cpu usage) i even experienced this issue briefly in the windows explorer.
Now I'm not just here to complain, as I said before the laptop is great in general, just hoping there is a solution or awareness regarding the scrolling issue.

Haven't seen that on my Y3P, *but* I agree that the trackpad is just horrible compared with Mac trackpads, or even with the Logitech T650. As for Chrome, indeed it works OK with touch but not so great with the trackpad. In general, IE works better, looks nicer, and uses less power---but it's noticeably slower.

Another Mavericks Random Restart issue...

I've seen lots of discussions about these issues, but nothing definitive that will simply fix our problems. For the last month I've been trying the various suggestions offered on these forums: turning off the Energy Saver stuff, auto logging in, etc, but still having intermittent random restart issues.
I called Apple this morning and went through these trouble shooting steps with their tech:
1) Reboot to Recovery Mode (cmd-r)
2) Disk First Aid to repair (success)
3) Disk First Aid to Verify Disk (no trouble found. Verified)
30 minutes after hanging up the phone, BAM. Random restart again. Seems like I'm always pressing a keyboard key or mouse clicking when this happens. No matter if it's the trackpad, the wireless Apple Mouse, a USB mouse, the built in keyboard, or my external Matias keyboard.
My next step is to appeal to the gear heads here for any assistance they can offer. Thanks in advance for any input you can provide. Here's my EtreCheck report and latest panic report:

Scroll issue OS 10.9.2

someone else has spotted a scrolling issue on Safari, Preview of pdf files and every animation (from the dock to switching desktop)? what I mean: it seams like "twitching" and is very frustrating to deal with it.
is it possible to solve it?

I often see this because horizontal scrolling will move back and forward in a browser (like clicking the forward and/or back buttons). This often appears as twitchiness. Try to observe if this is the case when you experience this.

Wierd iPhoto 6 Folder Structure "issue"

A number of people here are having MAJOR problems with iPhoto not opening certain files in Edit view. The long-winded details are here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=316657&tstart=0
In trying to figure out what was going on, I noticed something strange about the new folder structure, at least as it is on my two machines.
One of the things that iPhoto 6 does when it "upgrades" the library the first time you run it is reorganize the photos from iPhoto 5 in a much simpler and more sensible way then they used to be. Before, everything was organized in this way:
/Year /Month / Day / Originals and / Modified
iphoto 6 changes this into two sets of folders:
Modified/Year/Roll #
and
Originals/Year/Roll #
The nice thing about this is that the structure is obvious when you look at it, all of your originals are in one place, in a nested series of folders by Year > Roll. And the Modified ones are elsewhere, in the same format. Simple and intuitive.
But here is the odd thing I have found in my folders (and this is true across three different libraries, one with 2500, one with 2000, and another with 13000 photos in them): In addition to the new sets of folders, there are a bunch of folders in the Library folder that are STILL in the old format. (/Year /Month / Day / Originals and / Modified)
That means that some of my photos are in the new folders and others are in the old folders. They all appear to be "in" the iPhoto library, in that they are visible and accessible from inside the program. But they are obviously not organized in the way that iPhoto 6 is supposed to organize them, which makes me worry that maybe somewhere down the line they will get lost.
Unfortunately there is no way to repeat the upgrade process to force the program to organize everything in the new format (once a library is labeled as 6.0, that's it.)
Doesn't this seem odd? Does anyone else have the same thing going on in their libraries? Doesn't this seem like something that will create problems down the line, maybe when I upgrade to iPhoto 7? Doesn't it just seem like bad software design, even if it "works"?

i don't know if you read Nick LDN's post in one of the threads, but here is what he deduced ....
"When upgrading to iPhoto 6, the 'recovered photos' it finds are stored as follows:
a if you opt to import the photos when iPhoto asks, they are left where iPhoto found them (or lost them, depending on how you view it...) in the 'year' folder system, within the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder; e.g. 2005>12>15>photo.jpg, 2003>10>05>photo2.jpg etc. Within iPhoto itself the photos are grouped in one new roll, and an album is created in the Source list called "Recovered Photos".
b if you opt not to import the photos, they are moved from the 'year' folder system in the Finder into one folder within the iPhoto Library folder, entitled "Recovered Photos". The 'year' folders can be deleted, if they are still there - you should find that they are empty and they are not used by iPhoto 6.
In Case b you can move the "Recovered Photos" folder to anywhere you like, e.g the Desktop, as the photos are no longer associated with iPhoto. In fact, if you decide you need to import some or all of the photos back into iPhoto, you will have to move the RP folder to another location as iPhoto will disallow any import from within the iPhoto Library folder.
Take care either way; in my case I had 1014 recovered photos, which included all of the following:
a originals of some of my photos, the edited versions were still in iPhoto
b random duplicates of original photos
c photos, both original and edited versions, which I had deleted long ago - sometimes as long as 2-3 years, many versions of iPhoto ago!"
For me personally, iPhoto told me it had recovered some photos. i don't remember now if I told it to import or not (I think I am losing it) Anyway, when it was done, the first thing I did was take a look at the folder in the Finder. I checked through the loose Year/Month/day folders and all of mine were empty so I deleted them all in the finder. I opened iPhoto and all was fine (I already had made a backup so I felt safe deleting the empty folders)

Help us to help you: There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )

Mavericks: Emacs and Terminal randomly scroll / jump around (unwanted scrolling)

Both terminal and emacs just randomly jump around from time to time, often by a full viewing page or more. I assume this has something to do with "responsive scrolling" and the other scrolling bugs (mostly involving sudden failure to scroll) reported for other apps, but I haven't found discussion of this random jumping around / random scrolling problem.
To give more details: I'm on a new 15" macbook pro running Mavericks 10.9.1 (behavior in 10.9.0 was the same). Terminal is Version 2.4 (326). Emacs is gnu emacs from http://emacsformacosx.com/, version 24.3 (9.0), but it had the same behavior with a much older (2008) version of carbon emacs.
Anyone have any idea how to deal with this (other than "wait a year for Apple to fix things")?

No, this also happens for terminal, which is an Apple-supplied application (nothing to do with running emacs, I don't run emacs in the terminal). Also, I did re-install emacs, as I mentioned I'm currently using the latest stable version, but the 2008 version I had been using previously had exactly the same behavior.

SSRS Reportmanage scroll issues

Hello,
I have developed the SSRS report using BID's and have deployed it to report server and when I try to view the report in the report manager it does not show the entire report and horizontal scroll bar appears even though there is lot of space in the browser
window.
I want to get rid of that scroll bar and view the entire report on the screen as you can see there is lot of space to the right of the screen yet.

Bridge CS5 random scrolling and jumping

Hi, I'm using Bridge CS5 on OSX 10.8.4 with a wired apple keyboard and Wacom Intuos 4.
When viewing a folder full of images in the content tab, it will seemingly randomly scroll up or down through the images without any kind of input on my part. I've tried updating everything (bridge, OSX, wacom drivers). I turned off all of the buttons on the tablet since I don't use them anyway.
It's extremely frustrating when I'm trying to skim images for retouching and bridge will decide to randomly skip to another part of the folder contents.
This happens when viewing content in remote folders, not sure if it happens on local folders.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm on Bridge CC but also 10.8.4 and a wired keyboard and Intuos 4 but I also do use the wireless magic mouse from Apple that can be very restless sometimes and makes things move and scroll or enlarge without my intention to do so. For now I'm blaming my 'thick fingers' for it…
This problem happens in any remote folder I browse on multiple servers at different physical locations so purging folder cache isn't going to do anything. I have tried resetting prefs to no avail.
Still not clear if your problem is persistent or only at the start of using the folders.
And while no experience nor knowledge about network environment you should be able to purge cache without problem because in the default installation your cache file is installed in the user library of your user account.
But if you have set a custom location this might be a bit more tricky. You can check the location of your central cache file in Bridge Preferences cache tab.
I should mention that I have colleagues and associates also running Bridge CS5 on different machines with different loadouts who are also experiencing this problem which leads me to wonder why I haven't been able to find similar posts about it.
This brings up another question. Could it be you or one of your colleagues or all have set the option to distribute cache to folders when possible?
If so a build cache of your colleague in the folder might conflict with your own cache trying to read different info. Just a thought. Check one folder and use menu view, show hidden files.
See if there are 2 files with a document icon called .BridgeCache and .BridgeCacheT
If so delete both files and try again.
And since Bridge is not designed nor official supported for use over a network this might be the reason not many people manage to use it over a network and therefor don't run in this problem??

Flex 3 and Mac os 10.6.3 Scrolling Issue

I am trying to understand why I am getting Scrolling vertically and horizontally on my VBox and HBox container even though I explicitly code it as verticalScrollPolicy="off" horizontalScrollPolicy="off". The funny thing is that it works correctly as I want on my Intel Boxes with various browsers to not show any scrolling, but as soon as I view it on the mac I get the scrolling issues.
Anyone know if they experienced this problem and any workarounds.

Not sure what's happening with your code, you'll have to post an example that shows this happening to you.
On OS X 10.6.4 and Flex 3.5, it works as it should.
I made this as an example and view source is enabled. I have two VBoxes, one with scrolling disabled and one with it enabled.
