Iphoto's keep moving photo's to old mac mini

My wife had a mac mini and bought a macbook pro. She migrated her stuff to the macbook. Now Iphoto keeps sending the photo's to the mini and photo's do not stay on the mb. Sharing on the mb is off.

The photos that are appearing on the mini - are they photos taken with an iPhone or iPad? If so, open System Preferences on both computers and select the iCloud tab. On the mini, click the Photos checkmark off and on the MBP click the Photos checkmark on (if it isn't already), then start iPhoto and select Preferences. Select the Photo Stream tab and make sure Photo Stream is on.

  • If I switch iPhoto libraries, will my iPad still keep the photos from the old library?

I have two iPhoto libraries.  If I switch libraries will my iPad still keep the photos from the old library?

No. All photos must be included in every sync - each time that you sync. If you copy the photos from the one library into the other library - and then select the new photos along with the current photos to sync - then they will all sync to the iPad.
if you simply choose the new library to sync, it will replace the photos currently on the iPad.

  • IPhoto 9 does not show any photo of old Mac Mini's iPhoto 7 library

I'm trying to migrate an 80GB iPhoto library from my old Mac Mini to a new iMac. The old Mac Mini has iPhoto version 7. The new iMac iPhoto 9.
When I copied the complete library, iPhoto does not show any photos. How can I fix this? I already tried:
Using iPhoto Library Upgrader – however it shows: Your library can open with the current version of iPhoto and does not need to be prepared with this tool.
Using iPhoto's rebuilding etc functions on both Macs – this does not do the trick
Using iPhoto Library Manager – also shows 0 photo and rebuilding does not work.
    Anybody knows a solution?
    Thanks!

    Doesn't work :
It is also quite strange that iPhoto just opens the library without any warnings, but without showing any of the content (photos, albums, etc.)

  • I have a G5 mac using ver 10.4.11 and a newer mac using ver 10.8.4 these are networked. using the new mac i looked up my my photo on the old mac. It then said you need to upgrade your library which it did. Now the old mac can not open the photos

I have a G5 mac using ver 10.4.11 and a newer mac using ver 10.8.4 these are networked. using the new mac i looked up my my photo on the old mac. It then said you need to upgrade your library which it did. Now the old mac can not open the photos and say that I need to upgrade my I photo to a newer version. The old mac has no more support from apple in software update so I am not sure where I should go from here. can I use new soft ware with the old mac

The other part of the upgrade message was a warning that once you upgraded you would no longer be able to open the library with the old version which is exaclty what you did and what happened when you choose to continue
The iphoto library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iphoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process may take several minutes depending on the number of photos in the library. Cancel or upgrade.
So now your choices are to not use iPhoto with the previous version using it onky with the newer version, restore your backup from before you did this upgrade or purchase iPhoto Library Manager and use it to rebuild the library using the older version of iPhoto (instructions are on their web site) thereby downgrading it (without projects)

  • Just moved CS4 Web from old mac to new using time machine. Apps won't launch. Help?

Just moved CS4 Web from old mac to new using time machine. I get an error when I try to launch a program on the new computer (150:30). After contacting live chat about the issue and providing all serial numbers etc. I was directed to a download. The download was a .dmg file that my computer did not recognize. It was suggested that I ask the experts on the forum how to resolve the issue. I have all the discs and serial numbers but the new macbook pro doesn't take discs (I guess they think all apps are downloadable now). Any ideas?

Hmm... I don't know why they sent you here... CS4 is not part of the Cloud
I have some download links for earlier versions of Premiere Pro and Premiere Elements, but not CS4 Web
My best idea is to take a LARGE USB memory stick to a friend with a DVD drive and copy your DVD over to the USB memory stick
Or, ask in the forum for your program(s) to find out if anyone has CS4 download links
If you start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says All communities) to open the drop down list and scroll

  • Can I use my old MAC MINI as a hard drive, or do I need to transfer all the data to a new Mini?

I would like to get the new MAC MINI, but I was wondering whether I could somehow just keep my old mac mini as a storage drive and continue to use its DVD drive since the new mini doesn't have one.  Has anyone out there done this?  If not, what is the best way to transfer data from one mini to another?

  • I am confused about Icloud. I have a 5 year old Macbook, a 2 year old macbook and a 5 year old mac mini. What exactly do I need to do to get all this connected via Icloud. I also have an Iphone 3G. Help please!

I am confused about Icloud. I have a 5 year old Macbook, a 2 year old macbook and a 5 year old mac mini. What exactly do I need to do to get all this connected via Icloud. I also have an Iphone 3G. Help please! Also, I still don't understand exactly what the benefits are. At the moment it seems a lot of hassle to change a system that's been working perfectly well and that I'm very happy with. I'm not at all sure whether the mac mini (1.66 GHz INtel Core Duo) can be brought up to the relevant spec to run ICloud.  Any thoughts?

There are two aspects to iCloud.  One is simply getting an account, or migrating a mobileme account to iCloud.  The second part is using the various features of iCloud to sync contacts, calendars, use music match or photo sharing, and store iWorks documents.
First to get an iCloud account:
If you have a mobileme account, you can migrate by simply logging onto www.icloud.com (ignore any references to Lion and just click through to complete the migration).  If you have OS X Lion or an iOS 5 mobile device, you can create an iCloud account on that device using any valid AppleID.
Once you have an account, you can use JUST the mail account if you wishi - it is a standard IMAP account so you would set it up like any other IMAP email account you have, in whatever client program you use to read email.
To use the OTHER feautes of iCloud, your computers will have to be running OS X Lion (10.7).  Your iPhone 3G will never be able to use iCloud as it cannot run iOS 5 (you need a min. of an iPhone 3GS to run iOS 5).
The requirements for OS X Lion are here - http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html  You need a min. of a Core 2 duo processor so you mini is not capable of running Lion.
So, in your case, the single reasons for iCloud would be if you have a mobileme account, then use the online www.icloud.com to migrate your account so you do not lose your @me.com email address.  You can use iCloud email (without using any other iCloud features) by setting it up as IMAP mail with these settings - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
If you want an iCloud account and do NOT already have a mobileme account, you will need to upgrade one machine at least to Lion in order to be able to create an iCloud account.

  • I updated my old mac Mini to OSX10.5 (Leopard) and installed the latest version of Firefox, only to get a message that it 'is not compatible with this architecture'. Any suggestions on how to get a superior web browser back?

Upgraded old Mac mini (from 10.4 to 10.6) PowerPC G4 Processor, downloaded latest version of Firefox and ran installer, got a dialogue box that said 'not compatible with this architecture', now I don't have Firefox at all, and it is my preferred browser.

Firefox '''4 versions and later do not run on a PowerPC Mac''' and require at least OS X 10.5 and an '''Intel Mac'''.
The''' latest supported version for your os is 3.6.26''' , you can download it from:

can I use the osx disks from my old mac mini to upgrade my macbook pro so i can then get a further free upgrade

You can not use a DVD that shipped with one Mac to load on to another. To upgrade to Snow Leopard you will need to purchase the Snow Leopard DVD.

    Generally YES.
It's possible to hold separate iTunes library's on a single machine.
Generate two new folders inside the Music folder of the Mini and name them differently; e.g. man and woman.
Copy your whole library into "man" and your wifes into "woman"
Go to sharing in the system settings of the Mini and share the Music folder in your network.
After copying the whole library's to the Mini you may point iTunes to the new location at startup by holding the option key (alt) at the keyboard.
iTunes will then ask you where the library is located.
Point it to the matching library on the Mini.
    That's all.
    Lupunus
PS ... If you both use only the Mini you have to setup a user account for each and just copy the whole library to the Music folder in particular.

  • ITunes downloads fast on old Mac mini but slow on brand new Macbook Pro on the same WiFi network?

    Hi all,
I have an old Mac mini that's from around 2008 and runs on Snow Leopard. I also have a brand new Macbook Pro with retina display that's running Mountain Lion. Both running iTunes 10.6.3.
I never noticed anything wrong with my MBP's connection speed until last night when I downloaded a free TV episode from iTunes. The download speed varied between 20KB/s and 40KB/s and it took me 7 to 8 hours to download a single episode. I checked my internet connection but there was nothing wrong with it, SpeedTest.net told me I had a download speed of 94MB/s and upload speed of 80MB/s, it was only iTunes that was unbearably slow.
Today I was browsing iTunes again and was planning to buy some movies, but again it took forever for the trailers to download. So I fired up my Mac mini just to see if it would be just as slow. Turned out my Mac mini could download the same trailers from iTunes at a much higher speed than my MBP (around 3MB/s on the ones I tested).
So what gives? They are on the same Wifi network provided by an Airport Extreme, and although my iPhone and iPad are also connected to it, no one else is doing any heavy duty downloading.
    Thanks in advance!

It's possible the DNS setting your ISP is using are interfering. Although your PC works OK Macs can be sensitive to DNS settings. Here is a MacWorld DNS Troubleshooting article that explains the issue and below is how to fix it.
    1. System preferences
    2. Network
    3. Click Advanced
    4. Click DNS tab
    5. Click + sign
    6. Add 208.67.222.222
    7. Click + sign
    8. Add 208.67.220.220
    9. Click OK.
    10. Exit System Preferences
    11. Try out your MBP and report what happened.

  • I have replaced my old Mac Mini with new one.  What should I do about my Time Capsule?

With the old Mac Mini (2009 model) I used Time Machine and a Time Capsule to back up everything on the Mac Mini itself and on external hard drive I added when I needed more storage space.  I've replaced the old Mac Mini with a 2011 model, and migrated the contents of the old one to the new one from Time Machine.
I'm now trying to figure out what I should do to my Time Capsule and/or Time Machine to make backups going forward of the same content, now on my new Mac Mini and same external hard drive.
When I go into Time Machine, it does not seem to recognise the items on the external hard drive as ones that I can backup (or not, as there were some items there that I did not and do not wish to backup to Time Capsule) through the new Mac Mini.
I am uncertain too whether the Time Machine/Time Capsule will recognise the items of my old Mac Mini as the same ones that are now on my new Mac Mini and save changes there, or whether it will try to save all over again all the same items, as they are now on a different computer.
My inclination is to clear out the contents of the Time Capsule now and start all over again.
I have looked through information provided by Apple but not found answers to my questions.

The situation concerning the hard drive is complicated.  It is not included in the list of Excluded Items.
If the drive is not "Excluded", then it must be included.  That is the way that Apple's software works.
But, nor am I given the option to select it or any of the items in it for adding to the list of Excluded Items.
If you want to add an item to the list of Excluded items, click the + button at the bottom of the Excluded list, then navigate to select the drive to add it. Once the drive has been added, you can go back in and select the items.
When I go into the exclude from backup area and select the hard drive, it and the items in it appear in dimmed form, but I cannot select them.
Sorry, I do not understand what you are trying to say here.
What I want to do, but cannot, is what I did before, select one of the items in it not to be backed up and leave the rest to be backed up
I have no idea how you were able to do this. As long as I can remember, Time Machine will not allow you to pick and choose items on a drive to be backed up or excluded. Your option is to have the entire drive backed up, or the entire drive to not be backed up.
have not seen the 'Quick Erase' option.
You would use AirPort Utility to erase the Time Capsule drive. Open AirPort Utillty and click the Disks tab at the top of the screen. Then, click Erase Disk.  The Quick Erase option will appear.
