IPhoto says "installing" in app store, on iMac with Yosemite, but it never gets installed.
I have an older iMac, 24" from the late 2009 era, have upgraded to Yosemite, but now iPhoto won't open. It says that I need to go to the app store and install the new version. When I do that very thing, iPhoto says, "Installing" in the gray box that used to say Install, but it never seems to finish installing. What can I do to fix this?

Start over.
Find iPhoto on the Launch Pad, hold down on it, till the LaunchPad items start to wiggle, then click the cross to uninstall iPhoto.
Restart your Mac, then try to install iPhoto again.

Prior to downloading Yosemite you may need to do the following:
Disable anti virus software if installed
Check your settings in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall > Firewall Options -
IPhoto updated to 9.6 to be used with Yosemite but not working.
I upgraded my macbook pro software to Yosemite, and upgraded all my apps, including I Photo, in order for them to be compatible with Yosemite. However when I go to open I Photo it has a no entry sign around it and says I must upgrade as it isn't compatible. It is the most up to date version available but when I go to 'get info' for the app, it says it's version is 9.5. Although as far as myself and the app store are aware it has been upgraded and is 9.6! all apps are fully up to date. So confused, I've googled it and done everything I can think of and no one else seems to have this problem, Please help!!!!
Move the iPhoto 9.5 application to the Trash, then restart the App Store and sign into the store with your apple ID. Open the "Purchased" tab.
What does the button besides "iPhoto" say? If you see "Install" , let it install again. If it says "Open", click "Open" to run.
If you can get iPhoto to run this way, ctrl-click the Dock icon and click "options > Show in Finder", to see, where it is installed. -
If I purchase the latest version of iphoto from the Mac app store on my Macbook Pro, how do I get it to run on my two other Mac computers, which are desk top computer's?
Sign into the App Store on each computer that does not have iPhoto. Use the same Apple ID used to purchase it. Locate iPhoto in your Purchased list and click on the active Install link.

I have installed the latest OS X Updaate 10.8.4 - several times on my iMac, with restarts, but it won't disappear from my App Store update list. Why? ..and how do I get rid of it?
I had a similar problem with trying to update using the App Store, and being told that the software was "installed" yet I was still only running 10.8.3.
The App Store was continually saying the 10.8.4 was available but with many tries I still could not download or install it.
And there are a few links to the OSX 10.8.4 (Combo) update that actually lead to a "Cant find this page error" on the Apple site and the App Store.
I did find a link to just the vanilla flavoured OSX 10.8.4 update here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1658 which is a smaller download of 359mb rather than 849mb with the combo update.
The simple OSX 10.8.4 update downloaded fine with Safari and I installed it with no problems from the finder. A few opening's on closing's of the App Store app made the update flag finally disappear.
I have since come back here to report this and then found the link to 10.8.4 Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo) at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659 above and found that this link also starts to download the update through Safari and while I decided that I no longer needed it, I would presume that it would still install fine from the finder like the OSX 10.8.4 update did.
So it seems to me that there is a problem with (maybe occasionally) updating from the App Store, but if you download from either of the two "hard" links above and install from the finder it should be fine. -
I am trying to install OS X liam on my Mac. Directions say launch Mac App store, click "redeem; found under quick links. Where is quick links on the Mac App store???
If you're running Mac OS X 10.6.6 or newer, click on the App Store icon in the Dock, go to its homepage if needed, and look at the sidebar on the right.
If you're running an older Mac OS X version, it needs to be updated or upgraded first.

I downloaded lion but it wont install, it says that the software has been tampered with. But i downloaded from the app store.
I have been through the same process three times now. The downloaded file is 4.07GB. I deleted it and re-downloaded and I get the same error.

I can't find iMovie on my mac any where though it says on the app store it is installed I can not find it to open and use, someone help ?!
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Open a Finder window, select Applications in the sidebar and look for iMovie. Make sure there are no external disks connected, and if so, disconnect them, open the App Store and install iMovie.
You can also use Spotlight to look for iMovie, so press Command and Space keys and type iMovie -
I had previously downloaded Words with Friends (app was .99 cents). It has suddenly disappeared from my phone. Went back to the App Store to download it again, but it says it is installed. I can't find it? Any sugestions?
Scroll all the way to the left and type it in the search box, see if it pops up!

I am trying to use the "App Store" on my Macbook Pro but it will not allow me to open the program. It automatically says, "App Store has closed unexpectedly." Whenever I tell it to reopen, the exact same messege pops up. My computer has all of the latest updates from Apple.
I tried deleting the program then running the software update to try to get the program again but it did not work. Where can I manual download the actual app store program, or fix the one that I have.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
In the Finder, press the key combination command-F to open a search window, or select
File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select

from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test. -
Numbers says update from app store macbook
Numbers says update from app store (macbook update) but Apple site says software update if installed originally from disc.Neither works and won't open in Macbook?
You say you used the App Store to update Aperture, but how did you buy Aperture orignally? Was your Aperture version bought from the App Store or did you buy Aperture as a retail version on DVD?

I re-start app store & iMac - didn't help. Deleted "com.apple.appstore" didn't help. Re-install mountion lion didn't help. But I can download free app's and any content from iTunes. Please HelpDidn't help.

i changed my sim on my iPhone n reconfigured iMessage, it configured with my number but when i sign in with my apple id it says username/password is wrong while in all other things like FaceTime, App Store it worked with the same id and password..

So, i did what you said.. went to setting>app store> tapped on my e mail.. it asked me to sign in (with my invalid emails address showing). I signed in with the password I had created. It said "incorrect".. I went to reset password. I reset password, tried to sign in and it says again "unvalid password".. this is getting irritating. I have been asking and no one knows what to do. -
When I send a photo directly from iPhoto using the Mail app on my iMac, the wrong photo appears on my iPad2 Mail app. However the correct photo shows if I log into gmail on the iPad2. I assume there is a glitch with my "Mail" app on the iPad2? Any suggestions for getting the correct photo to show on iPad2?
Update: I was able to have the correct photo show in my email as received on my iPad2 by changing a setting on my IMac prior to sending the photo on the email.
On the iMac, I went into iPhoto > Preferences > Email photos using > Mail (in lieu of "iPhoto"). This seems to have corrected the issue. I'm not sure why. Now the correct photo shows up when received on my iPad2.
