IPhoto says iTunes songs "Not Authorized"

When I create a slide show in iTune then select a song for background music from iTunes... iPhoto tells me the song is "Not Authorized" although I know it is. iPhoto asks if I want to "Authorized" and when "RE-authorized" the song(s) iPhoto STILL does not recognize the song as authorized. Songs I ripped from CDs work fine but songs I've purchased at the iTune Store are not working with my iPhoto. iTunes and iTunes are the very latest version as is my OS. I'm stumped.

Wray:
Are you using Quicktime 7.1.3? I understand that it's required in order to use those iTMS files in other applications. Do a search for "Not Authorized" or similar terms and see what you find.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • IMovie says iTunes music not authorized, but iTunes says it is authorized

A problem has developed in iMovie where it is not recognizing my iTunes authorizations, despite the fact that the songs are authorized and they do play in iTunes.
I have purchased songs in iTunes, and iTunes will play them. But iMovie has stopped playing any iTunes purchased music, claiming that "This computer is not authorized to play....." and suggesting that I open iTunes to authorize.
I've tried deauthorizing my computer and then authorizing it again, and that has not improved the problem.
    I'm running:
    iTunes 7.3.1 - last updated 2007-07-14
    iMovie HD 6.0.3
    Quicktime 7.2
iMovie has always played these songs in the past, so I know that they can play. This problem seems to have appeared since the last iTunes update.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I was born in Chicago. Maybe that's the
    problem?
    LOl! Probably!
To "authorize" playback requires an Internet
connection (now we know that, too).
That's why I asked about the Internet
    connection.
    Absolutely-I thought that was a good point-especially
    the wireless thing...
As a side note, why would a wireless versus hardwired internet connection matter? I know I'm connecting to the Internet. And I've even deauthorized my computer (and then none of my songs will play in iTunes) and then reauthorized it (and they play again in iTunes). But iMovie still says they're not authorized.
And, in case anyone was wondering, I only deauthorized/authorized my computer in iTunes after iMovie started showing these symptoms.
The problem started after the last iTunes upgrade.

  • ITunes song not authorized to computer keeps popping up

I bought an album a few days ago on iTunes and every song plays on it, except for one. When I try to play it, on iTunes (on my computer) it says that my computer is not authrorized to play it and that I have to put in my apple ID, so I do, and it says that my computer already is authorized. I also can't play that same song on my iphone.
I also tried to delete the song from my itunes and redownload it, but I didn't do that because I noticed that the whole album wasn't under purchased on my iTunes. Is it maybe because this album was preordered?
Why is this happening how do I fix it?

every song plays on it, except for one.
That suggests the track is damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • HT1386 iPhone won't sync with iTunes. It says iTunes can not add songs to iPhone because no songs in iTunes library can be copied to iPhone. Help!!!! What should I do

iPhone won't sync with iTunes and It says iTunes can not add songs to iPhone because no songs in iTunes library can be copied to iPhone. Help!!!! What should I do. I tried everything!
I need to add my music to my iPhone from iTunes but its not working!

First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.

  • Itunes says it is not authorized when trying to sync

itunes says it is not authorized when trying sync, but after authorizing it does it again so I can not sync my phone.

You can use the search bar at the top of this page by "Support" as well as we can.
I typed you subject into it and got:

  • I downloaded a movie to my Air, but it won't sync to my ipad2 and says it's not authorized.  It's not a rental.  Anyone else have this problem or know how to resolve?

I downloaded a movie to my Air, but it won't sync to my ipad2 and says it's not authorized.  It's not a rental.  Anyone else have this problem or know how to resolve?

I ended up having a one hour conversation with Apple Support which evolved to handing over control of my screen and then eventually having to use Terminal.  I wish I could remember the command but it's probably best I don't.
One thing we looked at right away was the account name used to dowload the movie.  Is it the same as the account name  you have saved on your iPad.  That's easy to check and would be great if that is all that's needed to correct.  Good luck.
Here's also an email I got from Support that could solve your problem if it's not as difficult as my issue was.
I would like to inform you that this issue can occur if iOS (your device's operating system) on your device needs to be updated. It can also happen if the computer you're trying to sync from has not been authorized to play purchases you are trying to sync.
I suggest that you first see if updating iOS on your iPad resolves the issue. This article will walk you through the process:
Backing up, updating, and restoring your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If there are still purchases that won't sync to your device after you update its software, I suggest reauthorizing your computer. To do so, follow these steps:
    1) Open iTunes.
    2) From the Store pull-down menu at the top, choose Deauthorize Computer.
    3) Enter your account name and password, then click Deauthorize.
    4) Now from the Store pull-down menu at the top, choose Authorize Computer.
    5) Enter your account name and password, then click Authorize.
Once your computer has been authorized, try syncing your device again. If the same issue happens, I suggest reviewing the following articles:

  • HT1386 When synching iPad to iMac, get a message saying I am not authorized to sync the iPad!

Can't get iPad to recognize songs from computer.  Says I am not authorized to sync it.  songs are on the iPad but not bold, so can't play them.

Launch iTunes. Click on Music under the Library Heading to get into your music library. Right click on one of the songs and select Get info. You will see the Apple ID with which the music was purchased in the lower right corner of the window.
Obviously, this only works if the music was purchased from iTunes.

  • Songs not authorized to be played on this computer?

I recently purchased both a new ipod and a new computer. I loaded my library from an external hard drive and, when syncing the library with my new ipod, a handful of songs I purchased from itunes wouldn't load onto my ipod because it says they are not authorized to play on my new computer.
Anyone know how I can fix this?
    Much thanks.

    Hi TheBlackPage,
Have yo ever authorized this new computer to play your purchased music?
Read carefully [this article|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/7.6/en/15281.htm l] from Apple!

  • Songs not authorized for transfer

What do I do??? New nano and I tried to initially transfer my library (only 70 songs) to it but 69 of the songs say "songs not authorized for transfer on this computer"... What do I do>????? Something with my iMac???? Good god... This is not easy sometimes...

Hmm... I don't have a Mac computer but usually when songs aren't authorized to be transferred it is because you bought them on iTunes with a certain account and that account isn't the same one used on the new computer. All you have to do is go to the top of the iTunes screen after opening it up and go over to the 'Store' -> 'Authorize Computer'. Then a prompt should come up for you to type in the AppleID or the AOL ID that you used to buy the songs. This will let you play and use the songs on your current computer. However, only 5 computers can be authorized per ID, but a computer can also be deauthorized as well. Hope I could help!
