IPhoto seems to be missing!

iPhoto was working great, no complaints until last night. Went to edit a photo to email and upon clicking the icon nothing happened. Went thru applications and iPhoto no longer on the list. Now even the icon is gone. I can find my photos, if doing something like email I can select the files to attach. Can I restore iPhoto? What happened to it in the first place? Also upon connecting my iPhone I am not prompted to upload my pics.
(new to Mac and not sure how to proceed)

Not being there I can’t comment on what happened to it, but it would seem that it has been deleted inadvertently.
You can reinstall it:
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applcations Folder to the trash)
2. Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only...’

IPhoto seems to be missing few Photos features

I was hoping iPhoto can fully replace built-in Photos app, but alas, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Some of the most glaring omissions seems to be:
Cannot delete photos (what is the point of hiding photos if I cannot delete them all later?)
Cannot send photo to Messages (MMS), assign to contact, nor set as wallpaper
Create an album
Move photos to an album
Delete an album
Import photos from Camera Connection Kit
Faces and Places view
Am I wrong or do these features exist?
All in all, the app feels more like photo editor and social sharing tool, which is still fine, but a bit of a let down.

I write both JPG and DNG files in the camera.   Camera is a Leica Monochrom.   Photo, unlike iPhoto, seems to ignore DNG files and only imports JPG files.   What am I missing here?

JPGs are used for quick proofing on an iPad.    DNG RAW files are edited on a Mac Pro (2013).    Other than deleting the JPGs before importing images from the SD card, is there any way to force Photo to select and import only the DNG images?

I did see the J stacked in the lower left of the thumbnails but couldn't figure out how to get to whatever is below it.   How do you select R?
I use an iPad to do quick proofs of my images.   A JPG is good enough for a proof ( dust on the lens, composition, blown out image, etc. ).   The iPad is JPG friendly and can load the images quickly.    Serious editing takes place on my Mac Pro with the DNG files.   I use the same workflow with the the Leica M 240.   iPhoto has been a quick and easy importer to the Mac capturing all of the metadata in the EXIF sidecar file ( location, date, time, camera settings, lens type). A quick scan in iPhoto for the "keepers" let's me export those worth editing to Lightroom/Bridge/Photoshop. I typically shoot 50 images from three locations in a normal day. If I'm lucky I'll get 1 worth real work to add to the portfolio.

I have 2 iCloud accounts. Can I delete one account so I can make use of additional space I purchased for the secondary account? Also iPhoto seems to only connect to the primary account? How do I send files to the secondary account?

Both accounts are completely independent from each other. In order to use the space that you have purchased for your secondary account, you must change it to become your primary account. Yes, as you said, services like photo stream only work with the primary account. Unfortunately, there is no comfortable way to just transfer data from one account to another one, but you can do it via a third party application e.g. via Dropbox: e.g. for photos: photos stored with your current primary account > manual transfer to dropbox > after you made your secondary account to the primary account, transfer the photos back to your new primary account etc.

To restore photos I have followed the steps below
Quit iPhoto.
Connect your Time Machine drive.
In the Finder, open the folder containing your iPhoto Library. Unless you've moved your iPhoto Library, it can be found in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library.
Enter Time Machine. (Time Machine can be found in the Dock or in the /Applications folder.)
Choose your desired backup. The timeline on the right side of the screen displays a purple tick mark for each of the backups stored on your Time Machine drive.
Select the iPhoto library you would like to restore, and click the Restore button.
I dont get the option in step 6 as I dont have an iphoto library file to choose? Does anyone know why?

Thanks but as mentioned all is intact, even at step 3 I can see the current library in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library which has no photos, but when I access time machine any point before the NOW option the iphoto library in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library is missing from the finder window.
As you can see here it is
and now its gone. I have no explanantion.
How do I go about moving this question as you suggested.

We need a little more information to be able to help.
However my old photos seem corrupt within aperture.
What kind of corruption? And when do you see it? All your images, or only some? Are the images distorted, discolored, or not displayed at all?
Are you shooting in raw? Is your library referenced or managed? Is your library on your system volume or on an external harddrive?
And it would help to know your MacOS version and Aperture version too.

Iphoto and GarageBand are missing.

Greetings.
Untill today then i realised that my iphoto and garageband are missing. I cant find these apps in my apps folder.
I dont think it is the OS upgrade to 10.5.3 causing the problem.
Is there any way to get back the apps without reinstalling the OS X 10.5.2?

Hey did you try searching the whole computer using Spotlight in the upper right corner of screen?
Maybe some time you drug them out of the applications folder to another folder. Not easy to do but could be a reason you cannot start them. I think. Not sure this is even possible without a warning/prompt.

I am new to apple having worked with microsoft all these years. The switch was more for my photos. iPhoto seem to have changed my digital albums into tiff. All pictures are now in very small resolution. Can anyone out there help me retrieve my photos. Ta

Gosh I am already tired of trying to retrieve this photo album and it seems like a waste of time and money spent on an apple IMac.
No disrespect intended but until you learn how iPhoto and Macs work you will continue to be confused and frustrated.
You say you want to create a book in iPhoto and have it printed by Apple, right. Have you finished creating the book in iPhoto? If so the Control (right) - click in the View all pages window background and select Save Book as PDF in the contextual menu?
Open the the PDF file with Preview and check for any errors or problems. If there are none you can order the book by clicking oin the Buy Book button at the bottom. Save the pdf file to compare with the printed book when it arrives in you feel there's a problem with it. That's all you need to do. There's no use of the Finder required.

Imovie, Iphoto, and Garageband are missing after I updated OS to Yosemite. iTunes now wants to charge me to reinstall them. How do I get these apps back?
