IPhoto share extension not available

I’ve been accustomed in iPhoto to sending photos through Outlook (Outlook for Mac) Mail. However, in the new Photos Share ‘Apple and third party extension’ selection box, the options to use the extensions ‘Messages’, ‘Outlook Mail’ and ‘AirDrop’ are greyed out, and I cannot find any way to enable them. Since I downloaded Photos, this option is also greyed out in the iPhoto app.
Furthermore, and, for me, more importantly, since installing Photos (and OS X 10.10.3), I’m unable, using the Outlook attachment button, to attach photo images to emails (from Outlook) from the Photos folder, because this folder (which to date has been the source of the images I attach to Outlook emails) now contains only a small crop of Photo Booth images.
At the moment I seem to be deprived of both options to attach photos to Outlook emails, both of which were available before Photos installed. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Michael Dalton

Okay, I just figured this out but it leaves me with another question. Once I switched to wifi, they options showed up. Bizarre. Why won't this work on a wired Internet connection?

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

How do I get video from my iPhone to iMovie? The videos download to iPhoto, but are not "available" in iMovie when I select iPhoto in event library.

I haven't launched iMovie in a while, and I've used iPhoto to import many videos from my iPhone's Camera Roll since the last time I launched and used iMovie.
iMovie prompted me to create/update the thumbnails for my iPhoto videos, along with indicating no iPhoto videos will be available with iMovie until this is completed.
Not sure how to do this manually, but this may be your problem.

  • Since last upgrade I can't sync because the iPhoto library is not available

I upgraded Yosemite, iTunes and iOS. Now neither my iPhone or my iPad will sync. The sync gets halfway through and then fails because "the iPhoto library is not available". I've tried reloading Photos but when I look in the photo section in iTunes all I get is a spinning cursor. How can I get iTunes to recognise that Photos is the place to sync the photo library from? Alternatively, can I skip syncing photos and make the rest of the sync happen?

I think I've worked out how to fix this. I closed iTunes and ran Photos with the Option/Alt key depressed and told it to use the old iPhoto library as the System photo library. This caused Photos to reimport all the old photos into a new Photos library called Photos Library 2.
When I then ran iTunes and connected my iPad, I got a message saying that the photo source had changed and nothing would be synced until I selected the correct option. This did not happen the previous time I ran Photos and imported the old iPhoto library. I'm now syncing using the second Photos library and it all appears to be working.
I suspect that I closed my laptop down during the original conversion of the iPhoto library (thinking it had finished) and this interrupted the process. This time I let it carry on working for four hours before opening iTunes and I suspect that is what made the difference. Of course, I've lost all the photos I added in the last ten days, but I may be able to retrieve them from my backups.

  • IPhoto & iMovie update not available with this Apple ID

Hi everyone - I'm at a loss as to how to fix this issue...
I'm trying to update iPhoto and iMovie from the Mac App Store but I get the following error message:
Update unavailable with this Apple ID: This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
I've read the other threads about the apps being 'linked' to previous Apple IDs so I logged out and back in with an older / previous Apple ID that I had used before but it still wouldn't allow the update to the two apps - in fact the App Store said that the older ID hadn't even been used in the App Store.
I updated my OS to Yosemite yesterday so I don't know if that's affected anything?
Really hope someone can help - it's starting to frustrate me!
    Cheers
    Neil

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
    Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
    Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, select the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
    Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
    Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
              Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.

  • IPhoto printing service not available in Australia?

Has anyone heard any news as to why the iPhoto printing service is not available in Australia? It's very disappointing as this was a great selling point to me, I just presumed that it may take time to set up, but still nothing...
I can still print calenders, cards & prints off my home printer of course, but it's not the same as professional printing. It seems a shame as the software costs the same for everyone, but we have features that we can't use.
Does anyone know why this is?
    Cheers!
    emac 1.42GHz PPP G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

No comment on why Apple has not made this service available themselves in Australia, but there are a number of other options. For the ultimate in convenience and excellent quality, you can use digitaldavinci.com.au. They have an iPhoto plugin which will let you send books, cards and calendars to them. So this is pretty much the same as the Apple service anyway, although I think - but haven't checked myself - that the price is a bit higher.
Alternatively, I have had very good results sending a PDF of a book to myreflections.com.au. This is obviously not quite as convenient, but the quality is still very good and the price even better.
So there are definitely printing options available from iPhoto, especially for books, not so much for prints, and at least one option I know of for calendars and cards. I haven't used the calendar or card service though, just the book printing service from both DDV and MyReflections.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS4196 Share Screen not available

I have tried to use the "Share Screen" function in Messages beta, but I notice that the option is shaded out.  When I asked someone to send me an invitation to share their screen from iChat, I do not appear as available to them.  My setting show I'm available. ??

    Hi,
    No.
Apple effectively let AIM or rather seems to give AIM the Apple IDs so that when you go to either https://settings.aim.com/ with @mac.com names or try to "re-register" and name at the registration page  you will get a message about the name being in use.
At the AIM registration page the full name of the account is technically [email protected]
However in most cases the username  is normally what you use in AIM capable messaging apps.
It is possible to activate the name as email as a separate step.
Currently you may have older @mac.com names from Apple as well as @me.com and @icloud.com issued by the iCloud registration process.
In Messages and iChat 6 all these variants will work.
However in iChat 5 and earlier version only the @mac.com names will work due to this Dual Login that the last two version make to me.com as well as AIM.com that allows the password to be "read".
    Summary.
You can't "re-register" an Apple ID as AIM are already aware of it.
AIM can't "see" the password until iChat tells them they can look.
In iChat 6 and Message this includes and extra step that is created by the app also logging in to Me.com and this then confirms that AIM can "read" the password.
AIM names can be any other email if you wish your name to be that email. [email protected] for example  ([email protected] for another).
However creating a new name and to show it will be a name that is @Aim.com but this suffix is rarely used in any app - relying on the username only part.
It can be made to be an active email as a separate step.

  • Extensions not available

On the Apple extensions page where one expects to see 'Install Now' (this is where 'Installed' also appears), we see no text whatsoever.
We were able to install for example AdBlock by going to the AdBlock page and downloading from the developer, and this worked well. However, the expected behavior- blocking ads- did not occur. Instead, we see all of the ads.
Incidentally, right-clicking in order to bring up contextual menus does not function at all (using the pad; no mouse available).
    Ideas?

    HI Michael,
Apple extensions page where one expects to see 'Install Now' (this is where 'Installed' also appears), we see no text whatsoever.
You are the second person to post with that issue in a week in this forum. Please take a moment and provide feedback to Apple here. Thanks!
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Re AdBlock. Safari users have posted here with numerous complaints regarding AdBlock. There's a better way. Uninstall the AdBlock extension.
Then go here and download GlimmerBlocker. It's not an extension but rather a plugin that's compatible with v10.6 and Safari 5 and it's free.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/glimmerblocker.html
After GlimmerBlocker is installed, open System Preferences / GlimmerBlocker. Select the Setup tab. Make sure: *Activate GlimmerBlocker* is checked. You can also check for updates from that preference pane.
    More info available here. GlimmerBlocker

  • All photos adjusted in previous iphoto are corrupt/not available in iPhoto '11

After installing iPhoto 2011, I have a TON of photos that are visible in thumbnail (in events and albums). but when double clicked to view larger, they are simply an exclamation point.  I have to reprocess the RAW on each one individually, and lose any adjustments I've done in the process.
    Two questions:
    1.  Is this a bug in iPhoto? Is this being addressed?
    2.  If installing 2011 has destroyed all of my edits, is there at least a way to reprocess all of the bad phtoos at once so I don't get frustrated each and every time I sit in front of this program?
    Oh, bonus question:
Is there a way to go back to my previous version of iPhoto since it seemed to work just fine.
    Thanks for your help.
    -Brandon

    Not a bug, it's a corrupted Library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

I have edited photos (boost colour, etc.) but find that this edited photo is not then available to import into keynote or maybe I am using the wrong method. I can put them into ibook but I don't want to use ibook as it is not very good for a slide show.
