IPhoto-Share-send to iDVD, errors everytime

the SHARE > send to iDVD starts to process, and results in an ERROR window everytime. I have tried a basic slide show & the special Photobook slideshow...
nothing works. Prompt help is GREATLY appreciated.
Software added is:
Adobe CS (works fine)
LightScribe (does not work)...help with this also appreciated
MacBook Pro 2,2 (new 2/08/07) Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you have a folder in your User folder titled Movies? If not then that's the reason. iPhoto looks for that folder to save the Quicktime file into as it imports into iDVD.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. GarageBand Share-- Send to iTunes error

I'm new to GB- appreciate any help you can offer. I've recorded a book I wrote. The length is 4 hours 34 minutes. When I try to Share-->Send to iTunes, so I can convert to MP3, I get the following message...
Maximum File Size of 2GB Exceeded
Please choose a shorter bounce time.
I'm willing to break up the recording in to 2 or more files if I have to, but I don't know how to do that either. Any help? Thanks very much!

I don't know how to do that either.
the easiest way is to turn on hte Cycle Region button, se the yellow bar to exactly encompass what you want exported, and then export. repeat as needed.

'Send to iDVD" from iPhoto problems - photos don't show up properly

When I send photos/albums from iPhoto to iDVD using the function: Share->Send to iDVD' iDVD opens up, but the screen is blank in iDVD, the project info shows the photos are there, but there is nothing playing - just the blank screen.
When I do the same action on our Tiger iMac it works as advertised, not so on our Leopard iMac.
All software is up to date - iDVD 08, iPhoto 7.1.4

Thank you. It doesn't actually "fail" in that it crashes or comes up with any error messages etc. It just doesn't show anything in the screen. I have pasted the Console entries that came up when I sent album to iDVD - can't see much evidence in there but you might?

Slideshow in iphoto, once shared send to idvd, becomes lower quality

Hello,
I made a slideshow in iphoto 8.1.2 that looks great, using the "snapshot" theme. I need to be able to play this in a regular dvd player attached to a tv. I hit share > send to idvd.
In idvd 7.0.4, I set up my menu page (used "shelves" theme), set my show to loop and then previewed everything, and the resolution looks like crap compared to the original slideshow from iphoto. I haven't even put it on a dvd yet, because I figure if the resolution looks worse in idvd preview than in iphoto preview, I need to resolve that before burning.
Within idvd, my project preferences are set to ntsc, professional quality encoding, and single layer dvd type. I just noticed now my preferred dvd burning speed is set to maximum possible, so maybe that's the problem. But before I try again, is there anything else I should do differently to maintain the original image quality from iphoto?
My knowledge level of both macs and ilife is very basic, so please keep that in mind with any replies.

Welcome to Apple Discussions. Sorry to hear about the loss in resolution when working with slide shows within iDvd. You're not the first member on this forum to experience this. It's the nature of the beast (sorry to say) when working with Standard Definition and then burning to Dvd-R. iDVD makes DVDS, which are by definition "standard definition" / SD. IPhoto 4.0.3...where is "share/export to iDVD"

the subject sez it all...iPhoto 4 help sez to select yer album, then "chose Share > Send to iDVD".
Where praytell is "Share > Send to iDVD"? It's not in the menu bar at the top of the screen...

Hi, Mike. Several people have noted in this forum that the iPhoto Help files they have accompanying their copies of iPhoto 4.0.3 are actually the help files for iPhoto 5, which they have never owned†. My own iPhoto Help files are for iPhoto 5, and I don't even know anyone who has iPhoto 5. So when the Help files talk about a feature in iPhoto that simply isn't there, that's probably the reason.
The Help files must have been erroneously updated to v. 5 by the iPhoto 4.0.3 updater. Go figure.

Options are to ignore, report and retry. Retry and ignore get you nowhere. Report doesn't help either.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

Unable to import IPhoto 6 slideshows to IDVD 6

When I try to send a SLIDESHOW with captions and music prepared in iPhoto 6 to IDVD to burn to a DVD by choosing Share>Send to IDVD i get the following message "An error occured while exporting the slideshow, the export movie file could not be created". This is inconsistent with the statement in iDVD Help Tutorial "In iPhoto send SLIDESHOWS directly to iDVD to create a project with slideshow buttons". What am I doing wrong?

you may be using a file format iDVD doesn't recognize (or you may have a corrupted image/file) hard to tell without seeing what you are currently working on. try the file again, or use a different image in it's place.
if this too fails then drag and drop the plist for both apps to the trash (empty it) and restart the computer.

com.apple.iDvd.plist
Use the Finder (happy face on the dock) plus copy and paste for the above items (individually) and hit return.
In the event you see either item appear more than once, dispose of all of them.

Why is the "Send to iDVD" command missing from the share menu in iPhoto 9.4.3 when trying to send a slideshow to iDVD?

How come the "Send to iDVD" command is missing from the share menu? In iPhoto I used to be able to send my slideshows to iDVD simply my clicking on the slideshow, selecting the "Share" menu at the top and going to "Send to iDVD". Now in iPhoto 9.4.3 that option is missing.
Further i am also using iDVD 7.1.2 and running OSX version 10.8.3.

Export the slideshow via the Export button at the bottom of the slideshow window with Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, choose a theme and drag the exported movie file to the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

I created several slideshows in iphoto 5.0.4 and when i clicked 'send to idvd' i got an error message 'the export movie file could not be created.' what's going on? i now also get this message with slideshows that i was able to send to idvd in the past.

Trying to send photo via share/send button in iphoto

Having problems, possible due to being a newbie, with sending a photo via the share/send button in iphoto.
A message comes up "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination".
I have checked all preferences in mail and all seem to be in order. The apple "mail" accepts my hotmail messages. Does iphoto only work via apple mail. if it does how can I set up apple mail to accees hotmail and apple mail?

iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Accounts. Delete and recreate your email account.

Maintaining iPhoto sort order when sending to iDVD

Hello - I have a few iPhoto Events I'd like to put on a DVD as separate chapters.
However, the sorting order I set when viewing Events (using the title) is not preserved when I send them to iDVD. iDVD seems to get them sorted by file name.
A work-around is to export the slides by title (not file name) then re-import them into iDVD but this takes time and brain power.
Is there a faster way to preserve the viewing order when sending iPhoto Event pictures to iDVD?
All help gratefully received.

Create an Album in iPhoto (one for each slideshow) and arrange it the way you want. The Media Pane in iDVD should see the Albums and let you select one. You can drag a whole album into the Slideshow creation window and iDVD will import it, preserving the album order.

Instead of Share to Media Browser, what happens if you try Share Menu > Export Movie... (choose Large size) and save it to the Desktop?
If that fails try Share Menu > Export using QuickTime...
Then pick Movie to QuickTime Movie, then click on Options... which is just to the right of Export
Under the Video section click on Settings...
Then in the pulldown menu at the top, titled Compression Type: Choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Then click OK. And click OK again, and save it to the desktop. Once the .mov file is created, you can import that into iDVD and most likely it will work in Wondershare Creator if you prefer to use that instead.

Sender File channel error

Hi Experts,
We are getting the below error in the File sender channel.
Error: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException:24
This error we are getting for one specific File Channel. Other File channels are working fine. 1 message is also picked up by this channel but everytime it shows the same message id and the error.
Please let me know how to fix this.
