  • HELP: iPhoto shutting down when trying to import photos.

Have been using iPhoto for years. Suddenly, iPhoto program shuts down anytime I try to import photos. Please help. 6.0.4v. Thanks.

THAT FIXED IT1 What's of interest is that yesterday I went to "software update" on apple menu it updated me from 6.0.4 to 6.0.5. Go figure. After your reply, I searched support download site for 6.0.6, downloaded, and it worked right away. Great tip. Thanks.

  • ITunes shuts down when trying to import from CD

I have changed every setting and gone through every help file and uninstalled/reinstalled, etc and no matter what I do, when I try to import songs from a CD to iTunes, I get the message that iTunes has encountered an error and will be shut down at which point I have the option to send or not send the error report.
Why is this happening to me? I bought an iPod for my sister for a gift last night and loved it so much I went out and bought one for myself today and now I'm a little upset the only songs I can put on them are ones I buy from the iTunes music store

    hiya!
just checking ... is that a dual core or dual processor PC?

  • Why does my iMovie shut down when trying to import videos

When I am trying to import video to my library my iMovie closes and I get a "iMovie quit unexpectedly". How can I fix this?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • FCP shuts down when trying to import

I recently upgraded from standard definition to high def by purchasing a sony HDR-FX7 video camera.
i adjusted all my final cut pro presets in the audio/video preset menu in accordance with m owners manuel. however. now when i try to do log and capture. final cut pro gives me the colored wheel of death, and then shuts down. please help. as this is affecting my current jobs right now

"To choose the HDV Apple Intermediate Codec Easy Setup:
1 Choose Final Cut Pro > Easy Setup.
2 Choose the appropriate HDV Apple Intermediate Codec Easy Setup from the "Setup For" pop-up menu.
    3 Click OK.
Capturing HDV Video to the Apple Intermediate Codec:
Capturing HDV video is very similar to capturing DV video using the Capture Now feature. The main differences are:
The Log and Capture window is not used.
Capturing HDV video may not take place in real time because transcoding HDV frames into the Apple Intermediate Codec requires special processing steps.
To capture HDV footage to the Apple Intermediate Codec:
1 Click in the Browser to make it active, then choose File > New Bin.
2 Control-click the bin, then choose Set Logging Bin from the shortcut menu. Your captured clips will be placed in this bin.
3 Name the bin, then press Enter.
4 Choose File > Log and Capture (or press Command-8). A Capture dialog appears instead of the Log and Capture window.
5 In the Capture dialog, enter a name for the clip, then click Capture.
The capture preview window appears and the camcorder begins playing back video from its current position. The status area of the capture preview window displays the percentage of real time in which the video is being encoded from HDV to the Apple Intermediate Codec.
6 Press the Esc (Escape) key to stop capturing.
The video playback on the camcorder stops immediately. The capture preview window may lag behind, displaying where the video is in the encoding process. As these frames are processed, the status area of the capture preview window displays the percentage of frames left to process.
Note: Pressing the Esc key a second time stops the encoding process and cancels
    the capture.
After the capture preview window closes, the captured clip appears in your Logging Bin."

  • My iphoto shuts down when i try to import photos  from iphone?

my iphoto shuts down when i try to import or look at pictures. What to do?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

Soundtrack Pro Shuts down when trying to fix analized Action

Thanks, I'll have to give that a try if there isn't an easier answer out there somewhere. If I pull the card will I have to reload the software and drivers?
If my project is saved and I have a copy of the project saved will I be able to reload Adobe without losing anything? What I mean is will I be able to just import my whole project once reloaded?
I just don't understand what could have happened, since I was doing this with no problem a couple of days ago.
Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated.

  • Palm Desktop shuts down when trying to view calendar by month

I'm using a Palm TX with the latest edition of Desktop installed (I think that's 6.2).  Everything is normal except, suddenly, I cannot view my calendar in monthly view.   Daily, weekly and yearly all work fine.  Desktop shuts down when trying to view in monthly view.  I did a system restart, a Desktop reinstallation, a download of the latest version and installation of that version and, finally, uninstallment of the existing Desktop, download of the newest version and installation of that version.  Nothing seems to enable me to view the calendar in monthly view.  This is a spontaneous event.  I've been running Desktop on a Vista Ultimate system since February without incident.  I have no idea about how to solve this.
    Thanks
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Well, here's where we are now.  It's a good thing that I have desktop on my office computer because when I tried a Hotsynch with my home desktop, Hotsynch wiped out all the data on my handheld and then hung up both the handheld and desktop in the middle of the Hotsynch.  I'm going to overwrite the entire handheld with the office desktop file.  As for the home setup, I'm thinking the only thing I can do now is uninstall Palm and wipe out the entire directory of files.  Am I correct about this?  Do I need to do a clean uninstall?

The first error has nothing to do with Photoshop - that's some .NET application.
The second error is most likely connected to a third party plugin or driver.
And you're running Photoshop CC (14.x) instead of the current Photoshop CC 2014 (15.x).

  • IPhoto shuts down when importing pix

When trying to transfer photos from a Sony DSC-W5, iPhoto shuts down before importing any pictures. I've tried restarting, and that doesn't seem to help. I've transferred photos from this camera before, so I don't know what the problem might be. Any thoughts? Thx.

Is the error you're getting in the permissions repair or disk verify/repair? If it's the latter then boot into your system install disk, and in the first window after the language selection go to the Utilities menu and select Disk Utility. Then repair the disk and repeat until it reports no repairs were made. Then repair disk permissions again. Boot back into your PB.
I'd also download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. This will definitely force set the access on your library folder and its contents to your complete access. That may help. It's helped others.
Yes. It's possible to reinstall 6.0. If you do, move the iPhoto_602.pkg from your HD/Library/Receipts folder to the desktop. Then delete any other receipt files with iPhoto in the name. That iPhoto_602.pkg file is the 6.0.2 updater if you want to update to that version. Also delete the current application and then run the installer.
