IPhoto SlideShow Backwords Order??!

Hi and tnxs for reading!
I cannot find a way to give slideshow a standard order from the first to the last photo. While it is ok if I create a slideshow manually, things are not working if I right click on an event and select a quick slideshow: whatever options I select, it presents a slideshow which goes from the last to the first photo, and this is nosense for me...
Any help please?
Cheers

The photos are organized by date - ascending when added to a slideshow.  So if you want to force an order put them in an album, order as you want and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option with 1 minute between photos.
Then when added to a slideshow they will be in that order.

  • Photos in iphoto slideshow change order when i close iphoto

Basically, I put all my photos in a desired order for my slideshow and closed the application after working on my slideshow. I came back to it my project sometime later and I watched the slideshow to see what needed to be fixed. All of the photos that I had ordered had been unordered. Is there a way to prevent this? I'm using iphoto '09 on a macbook pro (mac os x). The slideshow I tried was made from an album of pictures.
    Thank you!

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Just purchased a new iMac and transferred all info from my old iMac. Now when using iPhoto slideshow is displays the pictures in reverse order.

Just purchased a new iMac and after transferring all info from my old iMac.  Now when using iPhoto slideshow it  displays the pictures in reverse order.

There's a bug in iPhoto 9.5.1 and Mavericks that affects slideshows played directly from an album.  The slideshow will not play correctly if the photos have been sorted manually.  Any other type of sort, date, rating, keyword or title, will play correctly.
If you need that manual sort of pictures for your slideshow create the slideshow in iPhoto's slideshow mode.

  • Why Does Apple TV3 Slideshow Display iPhotos in Incorrect Order?

I have an Apple TV3 connected to my Mac running OS X 10.9.3.  The Apple TV3 is connected wirelessly to the Mac.  I have several questions:
Why can I not show Slideshows I have created in iPhoto on my Mac on the Apple TV3?  I can only show iPhoto Albums from the Mac on the Apple TV.  I have spent considerable time preparing a large number of iPhoto Slideshows and am frustrated and disappointed that they cannot be shown on my TV.  Apple did not mention this lack of capability in their advertising, saying that slideshows can be shown seamlessly from the Mac to the TV.  Is there any way to show iPhoto Slideshows on the Apple TV3??
When I use the 'slideshow' application on the Apple TV3 to view the photos in iPhoto Albums, pictures will randomly show up out of order.  I cannot tell if there is a structure to the appearance.  Sometimes a photo from day 4 of a trip will randomly show up on day 1, while later a photo from day 2 will show up again on day 6.  Again, this is very frustrating when showing photos to family and friends, the prime reason why I bought the Apple TV3.  Why is this random display occurring?  How do I stop it?
I have videos from my cameras inserted into the Slideshows and Albums in iPhoto, which run as intended on my Mac without any problems.  However the videos will not show up on the 'slideshow' in Apple TV3.  Again, why not, and is there a way to show them on the TV?
I am a computer layperson, so I would greatly appreciate a response in simple English, without the jargon, if possible.  I quite often have difficulty in understanding the responses in the threads for other topics.
Thank you in advance for any responses.

Actually, this is incorrect. You must have a direct reference to the component instance to access the clientId. Filling in a String value that matches the for="..." attribute in h:message does not work. Furthermore, since UIComponent.getClientId requires a FacesContext instance argument, you end up with something like this:
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage(
     this.getComponent().getClientId(
      FacesContext.getCurrentInstance()
new FacesMessage( "This is not I18N!")
    V/s this:
    this.getComponent().addMessage( "i18nKey");
I do agree that JSF needs some input to get better. Hence this post.

  • How to put Titles in iPhoto slideshows

I truly love the slideshows I create in iPhoto with music...
"BUT", I'd also like to add a brief comment before, during or after the slideshow, and I've found this impossible to do.
Is Apple waiting for the new upgrade to address this problem?...
I've gone into my wordprocessor "Appleworks, and text-edit", hoping I could then export/import the titles into iPhoto, but to no avail...
I enjoy creating slideshows with music, then burning them, then playing them on stereo sound television, and its a total blast for me when I view my creations.
So, Apple, or readers on this site, please help a poor old man towards the path of enlightenment, for life can truly be beautiful with "titles"...
    Thanks to all...

    Terence,
Don't know if you misunderstood my problem, but today, I found the solution to putting titles into iPhoto slideshows, and its pretty simple also.
I don't know how to enter a link here in order to include the directions on how to create titles in iPhoto..
But, briefly, create the title in any wordprocessor.
    Take a screen shot.
Drag it into an iPhoto icon
Then, drag the icon into the iPhoto library.

We have no idea what enhancements - if any - are
planned for iPhoto. What you want to do cannnot be
done with iPhoto unless you use a third part editor
to create images with the comments, and import the
images into iPhoto and then incorporate them into
your slideshow. There are other apps that can caption
and use comments. Check out PhotoToMovie from

  • How do I arrange photos in iPhoto slideshow?

On my iPad - the album that I created in Photos appears in the iPhoto app as expected. Only now the sequence is out of order in the iPhoto slideshow. It does not match what is in the Photo album. How do I move the slides in the iPhoto app to the correct order?  Thanks!

  • Remove fade in/out from iPhoto slideshow export?

I'm bringing in some pictures from iPhoto and I've had bad luck with photo resolution when I used iMovie to import the picture and apply Ken Burns effects, etc. I've seen some suggestions here to use an iPhoto slideshow export instead.
I have my settings for 1 second slides, no transition and a ken burns effect. I'd like to make an export for each picture, but iPhoto insists on opening the slideshow with a fade in and closing with a fade out. Is there any way to prevent this? I'd like to add the transitions in iMovie instead.
(I realize that the iMovie forum might be a better place for this so forgive the crosspost)

Thanks, I think I'll skip the Ken Burns for now since I've had nothing but problems with it. My issues before were that 1) iMovie would play the images in sequence just fine during playback but at export would mix up the order. 2) The resolution on the pictures was absolutely terrible. I have a new movie now and haven't seen either problem.

  • Poor photo quality when exporting iPhoto slideshow

Does anyone know which setting produces the best quality for an mp4 when creating a DVD using iDVD? I put a slideshow together using iPhoto because I wanted to use the iPhoto scrapbook theme. I exported the iPhoto slideshow using the highest quality (standard display setting) which produces an mp4 1422 x 800 (H.264, 30 fps, 7 Mbps, ~907 MB).
    The iDVD project settings are:
    1) Best Performance
    2) High Quality
    3) Professional Quality
What doesn't make sense to me is that #1 claims to produce a total ~1GB DVD with a 995 MB movie and shows the Quality level as green.
When selecting #2, the claim is a total ~643 DVD with a 575 MB movie with Quality in the red.
When choosing #3, the numbers stay the same as #2 but the Quality goes to yellow.
Why wouldn't the higher quality settings produce a larger DVD with less compression? Which setting really gives the highest quality?
The default is #1 (Best Performance) which clearly produces the lowest quality video when compared to the mp4 export from iPhoto (appeared with a higher quality) and when compared with playing the slideshow directly in iPhoto (appeared with the highest quality).
Would the quality be any higher if I export the iPhoto slideshow using a customized setting? iPhoto custom settings allow the choice of about 10 different compression types from Animation, Apple Intermediate Codec, to DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, to H.264, to MPEG-4 Video, to None (and others not listed here). The frame Rate can also be adjusted from Current (whatever that means), to 8, to 60. The Compressor Quality can be adjusted from Least to Best. Would "None" as the compression type produce the best quality when producing the iDVD?
The ultimate goal is to display the slideshow on the project at my church. The easiest way to do this is to put it on a DVD. But as described above, the quality decrease from iPhoto direct play of the slideshow is noticeable when moving to the .mp4 and extremely noticeable when putting the .mp4 in iDVD and playing the DVD back.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or links to better documentation.

you just cannot export your slideshows in order to burn DVDs, with the same quality
That's an issue with iDVD and the DVD standards. All DVD media is downsized to 640 x 480 or the wide screen 720 x 480. It's the nature of DVDs, not iPhoto. If you use the Ken Burns effect in iPhoto you will need to use the largest 4:3 ratio images possible so the zoom and scan of the KB effect is working on the most number of pixels possible.
I've found that the best final image resolution is obtained by creating the slideshow in iDVD from stills imported from iPhoto at the 4:3 size ratio. The downside to that method is no KB effect and only one transition per slideshow. I play those types of slideshows on a 50" 1020p HD Panasonic plasma TV and the images are quite good. But good is in the eye of the beholder.
See Jim Symon's post in this iDVD topic: Re: High-definition DVDs. Also search his other posts as he was working out a workflow using Photo to Movie to create high def movies and burn them with iDVD. As I recall he found and posted his workflow at one time.

  • How do you burn an iPhoto slideshow onto dvd?

I am trying to burn an iPhoto slideshow onto DVD - any tips? Thanks!

If you want to create a video DVD that will play on a set top DVD player to your TV read the following:
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • Animated iPhoto Slideshow: Cannot recreate my original slideshows

In early 2011, I created 7 different animated iPhoto Slideshows to use as part of my acting and modeling marketing program.  The iPhoto Slideshow software was amazing in how it took still photography and, in a seemingly simple and easy way, transformed it into exciting, highly creative, professional looking video presentations with synchronized music. My slideshows were many times better than the original still photography.
Recently, I needed to update/replace one photo in some of these slideshows.  To my dismay, I discovered that it was impossible to recreate four of these iPhoto Slideshows.  Every time I attempted to do so, the resulting slideshows were nothing like my original slideshows.  Actually, the overall quality of these 4 slideshows has been drastically downgraded to the point of being unusable--for one or more of the following reasons:  the most interesting, unusual setup of 4 photos [up left: square; up rt: oblong; low left: oblong; low rt: square] in Sliding Panels has been eliminated; this results in a lot of repetition of the same setups within this slideshow; in another slideshow, the current software produces a totally different slideshow that is absolutely rigid throughout and will make no changes/modifications, regardless of the photo order or photo format; in one slideshow, the photo alignment is completely off; and the music is not always in sync with the action.
Over the past several months, I have discussed these problems with many different people at Apple Support.  Everyone that I have spoken with assumed the problem was caused by a software update to iPhoto Slideshow sometime since early last year.  On April 6th, after reviewing this problem with Apple Engineering, an Apple Support Advisor briefed me on what Engineering had to say.  The response was basically this:  When the iPhoto Slideshow was created, Apple purposely included an algorithm that continually changes the slideshows.  Therefore, if I create a slideshow today, it may be impossible to ever recreate that same slideshow again because of this algorithm.
I must admit that I am more than a little suspicious about Apple’s response.  It seems just too good to be true; especially due to the fact the stated cause is not easily provable or disprovable.  And Apple Support certainly did not attempt to validate or offer any reasons to support why I should accept this as truthful. Actually, until now, everyone at Apple that I had spoken with assumed the problem was caused by an update to the iPhoto Slideshow software since early last year.  Moreover, 3 of the original slideshows are currenty easily re-creatable.  Finally, this stated cause is so consistent with my experience of how Apple handles all product and software problems:  Nothing is wrong with our product or software.  There must be something wrong with your system or how you are using it.
My bet is that Apple significantly changed the slideshow software when they introduced the new iPad in late 2011 to accomodate the unique format of iPad. Hence, the iPhoto Slideshow software would work on iMac, iPhone and iPad.
MY QUESTION IS SIMPLY THIS:  HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS I HAVE WITH THE ANIMATED iPHOTO SLIDESHOWS?

Is this the panel you're referring to in the Sliding Panels theme?
If so then it's still availabe in the iPhoto 11 version.  Try a different arrangement of photos.  If that doesn't work try this:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • IPhoto slideshow, remove some photos

I've created an elaborate iPhoto slideshow that looks fantastic (custom settings for nearly every slide).
QUESTION:  I'd like to make a DIFFERENT slideshow by removing a few slides from my origonal 'fantastic' slideshow while keeping the origonal one intact.  I know I can edit and alter my current slideshow in iPhoto but that will change the current slideshow--which I want to remain intact so I can use it as my base, starting slideshow.  I'd rather copy the slideshow in iPhoto (with the photos along the top and able to adjust settings for each slide) maintaining the order and settings with the ability to remove several slides.
    Does that make sense?
I've searched duplicate iPhoto slideshow and all i find is ways to add duplicate photos to the slideshow.
Any tips? Thanks for your input!
    Chad

select the slideshow in the source pane on the left and duplicate it (command - D) so youy have two copoies of the show and can change each one independently

  • Slideshow photo order problem

How do I fix the problem with slideshow photo order?

What problem with slideshow photo order?
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on eight different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
