Iphoto slideshow does not work after SL upgrade

Hi, i have a 2 month old macbook pro 3.06Ghz and after i upgraded to SL i have several problems: Toast does not work, my pretty new HP 4480 Photosmart Printer works but the scanner function not (error message comes up no connection to scanner), etc. but the biggest problem right now is that iPhoto does not work anymore. i use it a lot and i have over 20000 photos on it. before with leopard it was working fine, but now after scrolling through a few photos iphoto get stucked for a few minutes before it runs again. the slideshow feature doesn't work. i read a few forums about this or similar problems but all the advise didn't help. i reinstalled the iphoto from the original computer disc and later from a life 9 disc as well. first the slideshow works once or twice with only a few pics, but later it turns the slideshow on but get stucked and the only way to get out of the frozen screen is by turning the computer off (holding OFF button down). i did also verify disc permission and disc repair = no help. what can i do?

after 2,5 days (spending half a day within the apple shop as well with this problem) i have it all back on track.
i did a lot of different things: trying to remove and reinstall iPhoto; did a SL installation over the old SL I had on my HD; backing up all the data of course before and reformatting my HD and installing a new clean SL version on it + a new clean version of iLife9 with all the updates and than I migrate with migrate assistant all the data and setting with time machine back onto it, but all this didn't work, because it also migrated the error/bug through time machine with it.
so at the end i just installed a brand new, clean SL version on my hard drive, than I did the updates and put all my data, photos, docs, movies, mail, bookmarks, music, etc manual back into the system (drag and drop from my external HD, where i had an exact copy of my internal HD) and did all the settings again in all the different programs.
the only thing i used migrant assistant with time machine for was for the programs. it seems to work now all fine and i even got more free space on my HD, because some of the old stuff i always carried with me but i never used, i didn't take over.
basically everything is clean now. At least i hope and works fine. touch wood!

Just upgraded to iPhoto 11. slideshow does not work. just is black.

I just upgraded to iPhoto 11. I am on a MacPro desktop.
Slideshow does not work for either the existing slideshows or to create new one.
Just a black screen. When you click on the slideshow button it fades for a microsecond like it is going to go to slideshow...but then just a black box where teh photo should be.

Can you view the photos normally at full size?

Photo slideshow does not work?

I tried numerous times to make the photo slideshow feature on ipod working it still does not work. I tried with different folders and albums.
What happens is I set up all the photo slideshow settings on the ipod, select the first picture in the album on the ipod and after the first picture the screen goes black and does not show transitions.
It was working just fine a couple days ago and now the transitions do not work at all.
Any suggestions?

Try the five R's. One of those methods should fix it.

Spry Image Slideshow does not work in Explorer

My spry image slideshow works fine in Safari and Firefox, but does not work in Explorer.
A small box shows up in IE 8, and absolutely nothing shows up in IE 7.

Slideshow does not work in Peview

When I open Preview to see a folder with lots of pictures in it, and click on PREVIEW, SLIDESHOW, it does not work.

I can put one photo in the Preview Window's side tray. But I cannot put two in. I do not know how to go from one picture to another. I went through all the items on the menu bar and could not find anything apply.
Any help would be appreciated. All this was so simple in Windows Media Player. Is it possible toget WMP for Mac?

File - Export from Preview, iPhoto etc does not work

Lately, normal operations from OSX-programs are not working as expected on my MacBook Air mid-2013 running OSX 10.8.5. I can reproduce in PreView and iPhoto that operations like File, Export and File, Duplicate do not work - there is just no response.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):

This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:

Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.

By double clicking on a photo opened in event I get the picture of an exclamation mark instead of the big photo. also the slideshow does not work anymore.

subsequently the slide show does not show pictures. I hope anyone knows if I have may be changed a setting?

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair Library permissions

Iphoto slideshow will not work

I am a new Mac user. Just purchased an IMac with an Intel Core i5. I opened IPhoto and imported a very large photo library. When I choose on an album or highlight several photos within an album and click on the slidewhow button, the screen blacks out and goes back to the album without showing the slideshow. Each time I do this new slideshows are listed on the left side column. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Iphoto upgraded does not work

I purchased iphoto for MAC yesterday when I launch Iphoto it tells me that I have have to prepare using the upgrader. I have dowloaded the upgrader and installed it successfully but it has done nothing and I am still getting the same message about using the upgrader every time I click on iphoto. I was on the old version (7) of Iphoto and I am attempting to upgrade to the current version. Can anyone guide me through what I need to do?

I launched the Upgrader by going to the Utilities folder and Iphoto is now working. Thanks pallywoo.

Mail Add to iPhoto feature does not work

Hi, every time I receive a mail with a photo, even if I try to select the feature "Add to iPhoto", nothing happens.
The only way is to copy the photos to my desktop, then inport to iPhoto.
Any help to make that feature working?

Just for completeness' sake:
Or select the attached images in the Mail, ctrl-click. and select "Open with > Other" and select iPhoto. This will import the photos into a new project.

After Mavericks: no iPhoto, scroll does not work. Help!

Please help! My Mac has been freezing and telling me to reboot (happened twice). Someone suggested I download Mavericks. I did so last night, and now I have no iPhoto, and scrolling is near impossible. I have had only Macs, have never had any problems, and like that they are easy to manage. I am concerned for my files, really ticked about my photos, and generally disappointed. And last night, after the download, I plugged in my iPhone5 to sync, and the syncing never ended. So I have multiple problems. Right now, the iPhoto problem is what has me most upset, and is the one I could really use (esay, simple, clear) help fixing. Thank you!

If you're trying to update your iiPhoto application from the App Store you will need to be running Yosemite. iPhoto 9.6 from the App Store requires Yosemite.
What version of iPhoto do you currently have on your MBA? What happens when you double click on the iPhoto application in the Applications folder?

Airplay does not work with slideshows and music - get the slides but no music with iPad Air2 and ios 8.1.22

iPad Air 2 with celluar with ios8.1.2 will not airplay with apple tv slideshows with music. I see the slides on the TV but do not hear the music. This works on the iphone 5s with iOS 8.1.2 and with my other iPad which is on iOS7.
This problem was reported on Nov 21, 2014 and other people had reported it prior to me.
When will this be fixed by Apple - it worked in the past and does not work now.
Should i return my iPad Air 2 and get my money back?

Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache folder(s):
Home/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
and, if there is one, the
Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
