IPhoto slideshow in iChat theatre less than screen resolution

I tried to share an iPhoto album in iChat theatre. It is presented as a slideshow but the photos looked very unsharp/pixelated, actually lower than screen resolution. If I drag individual pictures from iPhoto to the lower part of the iChat window (which means show that picture in iCHat theatre), they look fine.
It can't be a bandwidth issue, as I tried it in my LAN.
Anybody else observed that issue?
Peter

Thanks Ralph,
it did help a bit.
But I probably expected too much from iChat theatre. I initially thought, iChat theatre would be a great way to present an iPhoto slideshow remotely with life comments. But everything you share is basically the smallish slideshow window you see on the sender side upscaled to whatever the recipient has set its iChat window to and heavily compressed. Seems like iChat combines everything on the sender side into a single H.264 stream and sends it over the net, thus the heavy compression artifacts even on still images.
So it is ok for some quick snaps in mobile phone quality but not for quality slideshows. Looks like I have to stick with web galleries or Photo-casting for these.
If anyone knows of another solution to present a slide with higher quality over the net, with the ability to do life comments, which implements at least, that you know, which slide the recipient is watching currently, please leave a note.

  • Spry Image Slideshow not showing if less than 2 photos

    I have the
Spry Image Slidshow working properly on my webpage. The problem is that I am dynamically populating a dataset with data from the database using a category id of the photos. If there are at least 3 photos then the control is rendered properly to the page and the photos start showing as a slideshow and all is well.
If there are less than 3 photos the thumbnails render properly but the waiting screen for the viewer just stays black with the image loading going. the Play, Next, and Previous buttons never render either. If I click on any of the thumbnails the picture is shown in the viewer but the slideshow will never play.
I think if there is only one photo it should be able to be displayed as a slideshow as well but not really do anything. I think if there is a limitation of at least 3 photos this needs to be fixed. Thank you for any help anyone can give me on how to get this to work with less than 3 photos.

I realize the previous post is a little dated, but I'm having the same problem described above. Does anyone know how to maintain slideshow functionality with fewer than 3 images? Obviously, you don't need a slideshow for just one image, but I have several pages on my website where it would be nice to cycle between 2 images. I'm guessing this would require some modification to the SpryImageSlideshow.js file, but I don't know enough about JavaScript to even tinker around with it. Any insight would be much appreciated.

  • Just Curious: Cropping Display for "Less than Ideal" Resolutions?

Hey there, its me again. This isn't a "life or death" type of thing, more just a "curiosity"; 'cuz I remember back when I had my classic hp zt1250, whenever the resolution was less than its full capabilities (1024X768), it would resize the input to the correct size, so for example if you were say, installing Windows (where the installer is only 640X480 or 800X600 or somethin' like that), instead of stretching it to the full screen and making it look crappy, it would box it in so that it would only take up those 800X600 or 640X480 pixels of the screen (in the end, you'd see a black box around the part of the screen where there was an image). On a laptop with such an awkward aspect ratio, it bugs me how the "Starting Windows" animation is stretched out (trivial, I know) because it is only in 1024X769 instead of the machine's native 1280X800 Resolution, so I was wondering if this is corrected in a BIOS update somewhere or if it was "Just another one of those oversights" on these fancy "Newish" laptops.
    Thanks.

It does say something about not functioning in 64 Bit Windows, so that may be our problem.

  • IPhoto book: Can I use less than 20 pages? and other questions...

Is 20 pages the minimum? I have just eleven photos. Is there a workaround for this? Also, the iPhoto preview looks fine, but I'm wondering what the file specs need to be. My original files are approx. 15 MB TIFF. Should they be jpeg? Resized? Does iPhoto (or Kodak) do this automatically? Thanks for any help.

    TW3:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. 20 pages is the minimum. I think it's due to the minimum number of pages that can be bound. I really doesn't matter about the tiff files as iPhoto creates a PDF file for uploading and printing. Just be sure they are RBG and not CMYK.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Iphoto slideshow export

hi! I am wondering/hoping someone knows if theres a way of exporting an iphoto slideshow at a different size than the standard 3 choices...

Not with iPhoto. It's only geared to NTSC as far as I know. iMovie does have the KB effect. However, I suggest you use the iMovie HD (6) instead of iMovie 8 because it's so much easier to add and edit music. iMovie 6 is available for iLife users: iMovie HD 6.
When in iMovie Control click on a photos and select Edit Photo Settings. In the window at the right that appears click on the "Show Photo Settings" button. That will bring up the settings window for that photo clip so you can add the KB effect, set the length of the clip and speed of the KB effect.

I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • NB200 - Virtual screen resolution on Windows 7

    Quote:
+The 10.1-inch glossy screen features a resolution of 1,024 x 600, and is bright and pleasant to use.+
+If you find that some programs have elements which appear off the screen, the graphics drivers support a virtual resolution up to 1,600 x 1,200, allowing you to pan the larger-than-screen resolution around to find what you need.+
    (http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/notebooks/0,39050488,44700445p,00.htm)
The quote above and several like it (Google "NB200 virtual resolution") led me to purchase the NB200 under the impression that this was an actual feature.
Neither the pre-loaded Windows 7 Starter nor a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium have resulted in any such feature being available. I've checked all the options in the Intel drivers and nothing seems to be able to enable a resolution larger than 1024x600.
Has anyone managed to find this elusive feature and if it doesn't exist under Windows 7 (which the netbook *was* sold with pre-installed) then why is it being touted as a feature?

    Hi
Im not sure what the guys meant by virtual resolution but usually there should be preinstalled tool called Zooming Utility.
You could increase the resolution (icons, display) pressing the FN +F2 and could decease the display again pressing FN + F1.
    I think this was meant.

  • Is it possible to play a slideshow in less than full screen mode

running 10.9.4, latest version of iPhoto. Is there any way I can play a slideshow at less than full screen mode? Like maybe half or quarter screen instead of having the app take over the entire screen? Very irritating. If I could run a slideshow as just one of several apps open on the desktop. Any way to do that?

The slideshow will play inside the iPhoto viewer pane and not in full screen mode, if you use the "Preview" button and not the "Play" button.

My iPhoto doesnt allow me to place more photos, says that the space is full but my mac book pro is new (less than 2 weeks) and I only got 500 photos, what should I do?? the computer is almost empty

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • HT1040 trying to make an ibook and have 800 photos, want format of 8 photos/page, but default is not that- "create" the initial book from iphoto "album" it loads less than 800 pics and then when i change layout i have blanks.

trying to make an ibook and have 800 photos, want format of 8 photos/page, but default is not that- "create" the initial book from iphoto "album" it loads less than 800 pics and then when i change layout i have blanks.
if i clear the book so that it is all blanks and then try to load in the pictures i have it loses the chronology of the pictures that i had established in the album.
is there a way to import photos into an ibook template and keep the original order of the photos without having to do them one at a time?
also, is there a way to insert a photo rather than just dragging it? i have tried the cut and paste funciton but it doesn't seem to work, the target site doesn't seem to register with iphoto.
    many thanks for your help.

Photos are added to book in chronological order.  So if you want to add them to a book in the order you have placed them manually in an album do the following:
1 - select all the photos in the album.
2 - use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option as shown here. Select any date and add 1 minute between photos.
3 - select just one photo from the album and create a book from it.
4 - in the book click on the Options button ➙ Book Settings button and make sure the checkbox for Auto-layout pages is unchecked.
5 - drag the album with your book photos onto the book icon and they will be imported into the Photos tray of the book in your pre-determined order but not into the pages themselves.

  • I have a refurbished iPhone 5 (which I got less than a year ago) and the screen becomes unresponsive and there is a purplish haze that appears on the phone when I try to use it. Hasn't been dropped or cracked.. What could it be? help!!

I Have a refurbished iPhone 5 that is less than a year old (apple replaced my first one due to a battery fault) but this one has all of a sudden become unresponsive most times and a purple haze has come thru the background on the lCd. The cursor goes abit cranky sometimes too and jumps from Window to window?! It has never been dropped or screen has never been replaced either no exposure to water or sun. This happened after I upgraded to the new iOS 8.1. I don't think it was the update but I've never had good results from updating the iPhone anyway..
HELP?? I have an appt with Apple tomorrow but don't know if I can wait that long!!
    THanks in advance.

  • Just tried installing an update to OS.  Although the screen tells me that the installation will be completed in less than one minute, that was two hours ago, and the computer won't permit me to shut it down via the power button, as I get an error sound.

Just tried installing an update to OSX Snow Leopard.  Prior to trying to update OS, I was running V 10.6.3.  During installation, it locked up.  Although the screen tells me that the installation will be completed in less than one minute, that was two hours ago, and the computer won't permit me to shut it down via the power button, as I get an error sound.  What do I do now?  Help!

Hold the power key till it shuts down, it may take a little while, try holding it thru the warning.
Then if it shuts down restart and open Safari/Preferences, General tab, and set "Save Downloaded Files to:"
Select desktop, if desktop is not available in the the drop down menu, click other, then select Desktop from the column from the on the left.
    Then download this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
This will download the "stand alone installer"
Click on the installer pkg and follow the prompts.
    Hope this helps

You mean they won't have to pay the price for a new phone to replace the broken phone with a refurbished phone thru Apple.
