Iphoto - slideshow in trash freezing Iphoto

I moved an iphoto slideshow to trash yesterday and now cannot empty the trash as any attempt to click on the slideshow or empy the trash brings up the  rainbow ball  and I have to force quit.  I have tried reorganising my itunes media files but they are already organised and that isn't an option. Any suggestions on solving this problem would br very much appreciated.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS.  Created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto.  Every time I try to export to iPhoto slideshow folder, it freezes.  Help!

    I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS.  Have created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto, but every time that I try to export it to an iPhoto slideshow folder, it gets halfway through and freezes.  This has been going on for a couple of days.  I've tried opening iPhoto holding down the option key, but it doesn't make a difference.  Any advice, please?

    Upgrade to v9.4.1 or
    Trash the HP Plug in from /Library/Application Support/iPhoto
    There are two libraries where this plugin might be
    HD/ Library
    and
    HD/Users/Your Name / Library
    (On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)

  • Secure Trash Freezes

    Hey, hope someone can help.
    Whenever i do empty trash securely, i get an unusually high number for files being deleted (for example, 6 items in trash, and yet 17,000 items to be deleted?) and also, it always seems to crash whenever it gets near the end. Last night i left it on 1 item left to be deleted for over an hour... Lastly, is it meant to take so long? I'm doing it at the moment, only had 6 items to delete. It's been running for an hour and claims to have 4,100 items to delete..

    What items are in your trash? Is it typical for you to trash so many items at once?
    I mention this because sometimes one can accidentally drop entire files into the trash without knowing it; you could be dumping important system files. Which raises the question: why are so many items being trashed. (E.g., are you trying to make extra HD space?) In this case, it could be that the system is preventing you from trashing items that are essential for use. Some items don't look important, but they are.
    Possible solutions:
    1. Don't secure trash. If the items aren't worthy of secure trashing, you can dump them like any ordinary file.
    2. Put your Trash in the Desktop. Make several empty folders so you can fill them with smaller quantities of trash. Secure trash takes up a lot of time and memory, so incremental trashing makes more sense.
    3. Alternatively, Put your trash on the desktop and empty everything but the things you'd want in the Secure Trash. It's not possible that you'd have so many pieces of Secure Trash, so that might make your job easier.

  • Video Issues in iPhoto Slideshow

    Hello Everyone,
    If anyone could help me out with the following problem I would greatly appreciate it:
    I am creating a slideshow in iPhoto, I have a combination of photos and short video clips within this particular slideshow.  I have the slideshow starting with pictures, then the middle portion are a few short clips, then the slideshow ends with more photos.
    When I do a preview, when the picture portion ends and the first video clip begins to play iPhoto freezes everytime.  I have tried to preview the videos within the slideshow builder and they also freeze iPhoto and crash the application.
    When I go to the albums section in iPhoto where the photos and videos originaly came from, the clips all work there but for some reason in the slideshow builder they freeze and crash the program.  I am forced to do a command+option+esc close of the program everytime.
    I have created a similar style slideshow back in October of 2011 with both photos and videos.  When I created this previous slideshow back then it worked fine and I had no issues.  I still have this slideshow saved and when I try to preview or play this previous slideshow now I have the same issue..when the photos finish and the videos start the program freezes and crashes.
    I thought maybe it was because of file type, so I have imported .AVI, .MP4, .WMV, .M4V and all of these various file types all freeze and crash the slideshow.
    Any ideas?  I tried to do a system update, but my system is fully up to date.
    I currently have iPhoto 11 version 9.2.3 (629.52)
    Any help or feedback would really be appreciated, thanks in advance!

    Six other folks have the same problem.  Can anyone help?

  • Why does Aperture 3.4.5 freeze when making a slideshow?

    I have tried two methods of creating a slideshow:
    1. Using the 'play slideshow' option from the File menu.
    2. Using the 'new - slideshow' option from the File menu.
    In the first case, Aperture simply freezes. The choice of 'theme' (Classic, Ken Burns, etc) does not come up, and nor can anything be selected from the library inspector. The only option was to use Force Quit.
    In the second case, a new slideshow is available at the bottom of the library inspector; however, when dragging and dropping pictures, as soon as I try to look in the slideshow folder, Aperture freezes with the 'loading' message (and rotating circle). No pictures can be seen in the slideshow folder. The only option was to use Force Quit.
    In both cases, all the photos are less than 3.5 MB, and there were approximately 50 photos in each folder. No music or video was added.
    As an aside, I have tried deleting and reinstalling Aperture, and it has not made any difference.
    Grateful for any assistance on creating and playing slideshows.

    as soon as I try to look in the slideshow folder, Aperture freezes with the 'loading' message (and rotating circle). No pictures can be seen in the slideshow folder. The only option was to use Force Quit.
    Are you always trying with the same images, or does it happen with any images you try?
    if it only happens, when ecrtain imges are included, remove these images from your library.
    If it happens with any image you try, create a new Aperture Library (File > Switch to Library > Other/new) and test,  if Aperture can play slideshows using a new library.
    If you can play slideshows in a new Aperture library, repair or rebuild your main Aperture library, see: Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
    And if you cannot even play a slideshow from a new library, remove your Aperture preferences, see: Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics
    Delete the user preferences
    You can resolve many issues by restoring Aperture back to its original settings. This will not impact your image files or your library. To reset your Aperture user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
    Quit Aperture.
    In the Finder choose Go to folder from the Go menu.
    Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field. Press the Go button.
    Remove the "com.apple.Aperture.plist" file from the Preferences folder.
    Note: The locations of your Aperture libraries are stored in the preference file listed above. If you have stored your library outside the default location of  ~/Pictures/Aperture Library, make a note of where the library is before deleting the Aperture preferences file. If you have more than one library, you can bring up a dialog to choose which one to load by pressing Option immediately after you open Aperture.
    Post back, if none of this helps.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • Gallery App Trash

    When I start a slideshow the trash icon in the upper right corner disappears. How do I get it to come back? I'm unable to trash any photos in the Gallery app as a result.

    Have you tried resetting your iPod:
    Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
    button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • How to import selected items

    Instead of importing every single picture on my entire digital camera is there an easier way just to select the pictures and videos I want imported? Thanks
    Carl

    Yes.
    Don't import directly to iPhoto, but copy the files from your camera into a folder on the desktop. There you can use Preview or any image viewer (even the Finder) to cull the unwanted ones. You can use a batch file name changer (like FileList (http://www.petermaurer.de/nasi.php?section=filelist) to change the names to something intelligible. Then import the ones you want into iPhoto (File ->Import)
    Another way to cull unwanted material is to let iPhoto import them. They automatically go into the Last Roll. In Last Roll do a quick slideshow and trash the ones you don't want as they go by. You can also rotate and rate them as well.
    Regards

  • Adobe, please fix these bugs/features in Muse

    So, here are a couple of really annoying things/bugs that keep happening in Muse.
    (I've been working with the software for about three weeks, latest Muse CC update, on a MBP Retina, OS X 10.9.5, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB + 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3)
    1. When I try to hit "Preview" and browse my website, the links to other pages than the initial one don't work, and you need to go back to the "Plan" and open each one of them individually, and then hit "Preview" in all of them, in order to be able to browse the entire website without getting blank pages.. Is there any way to come around this, and be able to set Muse to render ALL of the pages before previewing the website?
    2. When I try to adjust the sizes of thumbnails in a slideshow, and zoom in on guides, it's IMPOSSIBLE to make them align perfectly to ANYTHING! The thumbnails just keep moving and popping around, and they don't follow the mouse movements at all, they just make rough changes in sizes and are very hard to work with. It doesn't matter if I zoom in 800% for example, things don't move or adjust smoothly at all, like in Illustrator for example.
    3. Sometimes, it's impossible to copy a slideshow- it just freezes, even if I click down and select the thumbnail box. It seems like a bug, since the copy function comes back after I quit and restart the software, or just make a new slideshow from scratch and then delete it (seems to re-set something, I don't have a clue). The "copy" button under the "Edit" menu is simply shadowed out.. Why is that? It would be really nice to be able to alt-click-drag-and-drop these things, especially when you try to build a portfolio.. But, this is impossible for me, at the moment- the plus-sign in the green circle pops up, but it just moves the thumbnail section, it doesn't copy it..
    4. Is there ANY way to make all slideshow thumbnail sections moveable? Even if they have the option "Free Form Thumbnails" deselected? What if I need to move lots of galleries on the same page, that need to have different form options selected, for visual reasons? At the moment, I can't select all different thumbnail galleries on my page, and move them all at the same time, which is quite irritating..
    5. When I click a thumbnail in the middle or at the end of the gallery, there's a fast flash of previous images in the gallery, before the chosen image is shown fullscreen. Is there any way to get rid of this unwanted visual glitch? I just want them all to open like the very first image in the gallery, without any ghosting of previous images.. I have the horizontal swipe effect in these galleries, if that makes any difference..
    6. Is there any way to make custom adjustments to thumbnail sizes, inserting a fixed width and height? Or, save a slideshow as a template, to use the same properties in another gallery?
    7. Will it ever be possible to have different sizes of thumbnails in the same slideshow? What's the best way to make a gallery in a portfolio with artworks of different aspect ratios?
    8. Why is not my embedded Youtube videos included when I export the project like a html-file? There's only a broken link/code in the video area, at the moment.. Will this be a problem later, when I really need to upload it on my server?
    9. Is it not possible at all to import svg-files in a slideshow? Why is it possible in external widgets, but not in the built-in slideshow widget? I can place and import svg-files into the page, but not drag or import them to the slideshow itself..
    I really like Muse, but I find it very hard and irritating to work with lots of times, so please fix these issues, or tell me how to avoid them, thanks!

    A BIG THANK YOU for taking the time to share your thoughts regarding how to improve Muse. I've interspersed comments and clarifications below.
    There are multiple ways to preview your work when using Muse.
    Preview Mode - When you click the Preview button at the top right to open Preview Mode Muse will generate the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images and assets for the page in the front Design view (or the Home page, if you're not in Design view) in the Preview tab/window. If you navigate to a different page by following a hyperlink Muse will generate the code for that page and display it. This in-app preview uses the OS browser, so the display uses Safari on the Mac or IE on Windows. Since the code for each page is generated/updated when it's navigated to, navigation to a page for the first time is slow.
    Preview Page in Browser - If you select this option the code for the current page is generated and opened in your default browser. If you follow a link to another page, it will fail with a 404 file not found error, since this option only previews a single page. It's fast, but limited to one page.
    Preview Site in Browser - If you select this option the code for your entire site will be generated and your home page will be opened in your default browser. You can freely navigate between pages via hyperlinks, since the preview exported the code for all the pages of your site. This option is very convenience for previewing your full site, but is much slower for a multi-page site than Preview Page in Browser.
    Publish - If you select this option you can create a free temporary website on Adobe hosting. This is very handy when you want to view your site on multiple devices or have someone else review the site before you Publish or Upload the site to its production hosting location.
    The web is pixel based. There are (mostly) no fractional amounts. While you can zoom in, ultimately your output will be aligned (and limited to) whole pixel boundaries.
    When working with thumbnails, the ramifications of working in whole pixel based media are magnified. For example, if you're using tiled thumbnails and have an 8 wide layout the total width will have to be a multiple of 8. You can only increase all 8 by whole pixel increments.
    If Muse is truly freezing, we'd need to understand more about the steps involved. What I expect you're encountering is the fact you can copy and paste an entire widget, but you cannot copy and paste the individual parts of a widget. If you select the widget cut and copy are enabled. If you click a second time to select one part of the widget, then cut and copy are disabled. Most the widgets don't support having two parts of the same type (i.e. two next buttons, two sets of thumbnails, etc.) so at least copy and paste can't currently be supported. Those are limitations we'd like to remove, but for now they are the current limitations when working with widgets.
    I believe you're asking to be able to simultaneously select the thumbnail sets for multiple slideshow widgets? You're correct, that's currently not supported. The selection model is limited to selecting items that are siblings in the Layers panel. You can select two slideshow widgets, but not the parts inside one widget at the same time as the parts inside another.
    Noted as a feature request. When the sliding transition was implemented the most common ask was for the current behavior, so that's what's provided. Fade provides a transition between two images without any feedback of the images that were passed over.
    6. Is there any way to make custom adjustments to thumbnail sizes, inserting a fixed width and height? Or, save a slideshow as a template, to use the same properties in another gallery?
    Given the next question is about setting each thumbnail to be a different size, I'm not sure I understand this question. You can select a thumbnail and enter height and width values in the Transform panel or Control Strip. However, all thumbnails share the same size, so all of them will be updated to the new size. Not sure that answers what you're asking?
    [edit: Zak] Regarding the second half of this question, a slideshow (or any other object or collection of objects) can be saved in the Library and used again in later projects.
    7. Will it ever be possible to have different sizes of thumbnails in the same slideshow? What's the best way to make a gallery in a portfolio with artworks of different aspect ratios?
    When "Scale to Fit" is used for the sizing of the thumbnails, they will appear with the aspect ratio of the original image sized to fit within the thumbnail container box.
    8. Why is not my embedded Youtube videos included when I export the project like a html-file? There's only a broken link/code in the video area, at the moment.. Will this be a problem later, when I really need to upload it on my server?
    Insufficient information here to be certain, but I suspect you've exported to a local folder and then opened the index.html (or other .html) file in your browser? When open a file directly in your browser "file://" protocol is used. Many/most services such as YouTube won't work on a .html page loaded using "file://" protocol. That's part of why Muse has a built-in mini-web server and the Preview, Preview Page in Browser and Preview Site in Browser features, which server up the .html files using "http://" protocol. Or you can Publish to a free temporary site on Adobe hosting.
    9. Is it not possible at all to import svg-files in a slideshow? Why is it possible in external widgets, but not in the built-in slideshow widget? I can place and import svg-files into the page, but not drag or import them to the slideshow itself..
    Correct. Support for SVG was recently added for Muse 2014.2. Support for including SVG graphics in slideshows was not part of the initial release.
    In the future, while it may seem excessive, it's much more effective to create a new thread for each different issue/concern/topic you wish to discuss. When a thread starts with a large number of different topics it often goes unanswered because no one forum member or Adobe staffer feels qualified to respond to all the questions. Or, if it does get responses, it ends up being impossible to follow the discussion because so many different topics are intermingled. Thanks.

  • Help Me Kill The Giant Bloated File Size Monster

    Hi Folks,
    I'm trying to reduce the artificially giant size of a GB2 file because it's almost impossible to get the tune to play. I've tried all the optimizing tricks but every now and then a song just needs that big I Am The Walrus production so I'll admit there's a lot going on. I say "artificially" because I know from experience with so many other programs that many times those undos and edits DON'T get trashed when you save and quit even though they should. I wish GB2 had the beautifully elegant "Save & Compact" like Flash which miraculously cleans out the file and dumps all the bad voodoo reducing files to a fraction of their bloated former selves.
    In this case I was trying to reduce file by locking many tracks which I now know bloats the file even more. I found this old thread with some tips about manually trashing Freeze Files but how exactly is that done? What are files called and where are they?
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1370949&#1370949
    Any Mac Techs listening here? How about a Save & Compact for GarageBand!
    Thanks
    Robert
    P.S. I do have GB3 also if there's only a fix in that version.

    Hi flexmarketman - please do NOT tinker with the Media folder contents if you still wish to have a functional project. Nothing in that folder is non-essential. Non-destructive editing allows for the permanent removal only of clips that are discarded in their entirety. All remaining clips in the folder have been utilised in some degree in your project!
    Best solution is to purchase an external hard drive of reasonably large capacity (make sure it has been formatted for Mac computers before you use it.
    You can share the project back to a dv tape (cheapest storage method), and that can be re-imported if needs be, but it does not allow for the same flexibility of subsequent further editing as transitions etc will now be embedded in the clips. But it will remove all unwanted portions of clips so that is the positive outcome of this method.
    Hope that helps.

  • Missing Blue Apple Menu

    Hello,
    I was having some difficulty exporting a slideshow (it kept freezing). I used Onyx to 'clean' system caches... now, I am still unable to export slideshow.. but a bigger concern is that my blue apple on the menu bar has no menu drop below it.
    I'm out of ideas, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
    Thanks!

    You may be able to repair this with the 10.4.6 Stand Alone Combo Updater. (assuming your system is still 10.4.6 and you are on an Intel model.)
    This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before. It has worked well for many.
    Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.

  • Return from a method at the end of a thread

    Hi all,
    I've written a slideshow in a class implementing Runnable, overriding the run() method.
    I want that my a method "startSlideShow()" returns when the task of the thread ends (the thread mainly display images).
    I've tried the the join() method (see code below) but the displaying of the images doesn't occurs any more.
    public class SlideShow extends JPanel implements Runnable {
        //The  main thread to run the slideshow
        Thread slideShowThread = new Thread(this);
         * Launch the slideshow
        public void startSlideShow() {
            //launch the slide show
            slideShowThread.start();
            //build and launch the listening of the end of the slideshow
            //prob : it freeze the displaying
           try {
                slideShowThread.join();
                System.err.println(" thread ENDED");
            } catch (InterruptedException ex) {
                System.err.println(ex+" thread was stopped");
            //this method SHOULD returns when the slideshow ended
    public void run(){
    //here is the slideshow code...
    }I've tried several other piece of code but I didn't succeed to makes my startSlideShow() method returns when the run() method end.
    Could you help ?
    thank you

    SlideShow slideShow = new SlideShow();
    slideShow.setCompletionListener(new
    ew CompletionListener() {
    public void executionComplete(SlideShow source) {
    //Execution will continue here when slideshow is
    w is complete...
              Thread t = new Thread(slideShow);
              t.start();
    /Kajok, thank you a lot for this. This fit my needs as the parent class of slideshow shouldn't be of a specific structure now. I will use this technic.
    However, just a general remark about the threads and my wish to have a modal function.
    You said that :
    "As I told you, you should never ever block the AWT thread so you can't make it modal. UI programming is event driven.
    and I agree. the point is that I wanted to do something like the JOptionPane set at modal.
    Let's consider the jOptionPane as a metaphor (I don't want to implement my slideshow using optionPane, obviously...)
    When we call a jOptionPane, we wait for an user action, then the jOptionPane returns (usually returning the results of the user action) :
    value = JOptionPane.showOptionDialog(
                        contentPane,
                        "my question is",
                        "my title",
                        JOptionPane.YES_NO_OPTION, // need answer
                        JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE,
                        null, // default icon for message type
                        options,
                        options[1]); //default selected value);So I was thinking that it should have been possible make a class which display the slideshow and then retunrs, after a specific event, which is the end of the slideshow...like the structure of the JOptionPane do.
    Thank for your useful answers,

  • Various iMac problems: reboot and upgrade

    Please help:
    My school unearthed a old iMac, and intends on loading it with a language software, and it fell to me to make it work. From the files I could find ( I am not very familiar with the OS it was running, the only Mac I use is OSX) _it is from 2003-ish, and is running OS 9_. Here are the problems with which I need your help.
    1. It is S L O W . It took 15 minutes to bring up the hard drive and look at the file headers on it. Dragging anything to the trash freezes everything (including the clock) for about 1-2 minutes. Any good way of fixing this? Will rebooting the hard drive to factory settings work? *How would I do that?*
    2. The software the school ordered needs OS X. What is the (cheapest) and best way to upgrade, and which version should I look for?
    Thank you very much for your help,
    ~ Anonymous Intern

    You can find out lots of information in Mac OS 9 System Profiler:
    Apple > Apple System Profiler
    Click on the System tab
    Look in the Memory Overview & Machine speed. The machine speed will give us the exact iMac model.
    Checking the firmware.
    Figuring out what level of firmware you have.
    1) Mac OS 9.x or 8.x, you need to use the Apple System Profiler.
    Apple -> Apple System Profiler
    2) Open Firmware, boot into Open Firmware.
    Power on your iMac while holding down commandoption+of
    The first output line contains the firmware level. Mine reads:
    Apple PowerMac4,1 4.1.9f1 BootRom built on 09/14/01 at 13.18.04
    Copyright 1994-2001 Apple Computer Inc.
    On my machine, I have 4.1.9f1.
    What firmware do you need?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117
    Also, why would I replace a battery? It works fine, and is a desktop, so it has a power chord.
    Some of the iMac machines do not boot without a working battery, and you get the wrong time. If you have the machine open, you might as well replace it.
    You can replace the batter by going through the memory slot. It's tricky.

  • Visualizer techniques, precedents, philosophies

    Can readers point me to possibly relevant Visualizer discussion resources on history, precedents, principles, philosophies, inspirations such as Thomas Wilfred's "Lumia Suite" or Nam June Paik's "prepared TVs" in the 1960s or "phantasmagorias" and "Magic Lantern" expressions of Renaissance times?
    And, for instance, effects of "phototropic immersions" as in the "Altered States" movie story line.

    The iTunes Visualizer can be even more fun if you know how to interact with it. The Visual Effects Generator uses three different configurations to create visuals. You can see these listed at the top-right of the screen if you press the C key while visual effects are playing. The three configurations listed change randomly and morph into one another as music plays. You can change any, or all, of these configurations while music is playing.
    The first configuration in the list affects the foreground of the visualizer, the primary lines and shapes that modulate and interact with the beat of the music more obviously than the other graphics on the screen. You can cycle through all the built-in effects for this configuration by alternately pressing the Q and W keys (Q for "Previous" selection and W for "Next" selection).
    The second configuration in the list affects the background graphics, the shapes and patterns that stream from the primary shapes in the top configuration. You can cycle through all the built-in effects for this configuration by alternately pressing the A and S keys (A for "Previous" selection and S for "Next" selection).
    The third configuration in the list affects the color scheme that is applied to the visuals. You can cycle through all the built-in effects for this configuration by using the Z and X keys (Z for "Previous" selection and X for "Next" selection).
    Visualizer modes
    Cycle through three different visualizer modes by pressing the M key.
    •      To play the random visual effects generated by iTunes, press the M key to cycle to "Random slideshow mode."
    •      To force iTunes to play the current configuration until instructed otherwise, press the M key to cycle to "Freezing current config."
    •      To play only the configurations that have been saved as presets under the numeric keys, as described below, press the M key to cycle to the "User config slideshow mode."
    To manually and randomly change configurations at any time, press the R key. Pressing the R key in beat with the music makes you the conductor of an amazing musical light show.
    Save a favorite configuration
    When you change an individual configuration (by using the keys mentioned above), the new effect fades slowly in as the configuration description in the upper-right corner fades out. If you fall in love with an effect, you can save that particular configuration as a preset that can be activated at any time.
    To save a favorite configuration as a preset:
    1.      Press the M key to cycle through the three different options: "Random slideshow mode," "User config slideshow mode," and "Freezing current config."
    2.      When you get to the "User config slideshow mode," stop. This mode plays configurations that you, the user, have saved as presets.
    3.      Wait until you see a visual effect you like, then hold the Shift key and tap one of the numeric keys (0 through 9) while the desired effect is playing. You can save up to ten different preset effects.
    Note: To get rid of an old preset, just save a new one over it, using the steps above.
    To play your preset, tap the number key that you assigned to your preset configuration. Try tapping different preset keys to the beat of the music for fantastic visual effects.
    Visualizer Help
    A separate Help file of keyboard shortcuts is available in the Visualizer feature of iTunes. While Visuals are turned on, press the ? key (or the H key) to show "Basic Visualizer Help," a list of keyboard shortcuts that appears on the left side of the visual display.
    Press the ? key again (or the H key) to toggle to another list of keyboard shortcuts, "Visualizer Config Help."

  • IPhoto 7.0.1 freezes when trying to start a slideshow

    I have a rather frustrating experience with iPhoto. Everytime I try to click the start slideshow play button (bottom left) the whole iPhoto freezes and I have to force quit it. In order to be able to open iPhoto again I have to repair permissions first, otherwise it says that my photo library is locked.
    I tried rebuilding the library, but it didn't help.
    Funny thing is, that slideshow plays fine when I acces it via the combiantion Create Slideshow (optional button, which you can reach through the view menu and toolbars submenu) and then hit play slideshow button in the create slideshow view. I could bring iPhoto to freeze agian via the music button in this create slideshow view though.
    So what I did next is rebuild the iTunes library. It didn't help as well. I don't know what else to do.
    One last test I did was trying slideshow as a different user. And guess what? Logged in as another user slideshow played fine. This user account has a different photo library and no music at all.

    First try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, from your User/Library/Preferences folder. If that doesn't help, try the following:
    Trouble Shooting Preferences
    Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
    If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
    Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
    If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
    Sometimes it could be another application's preference file.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • My iPhoto 11, V 9.4.2, locks up/freezes when I attempt to empty the iPhoto trash bin.  Originally, I thought it was due to 800  files in the trash, however, I removed ALL but 5 photos from the trash and it continues to lock up.

    My iPhoto 11, V 9.4.2, locks up/freezes when I attempt to empty the iPhoto trash bin.
    Originally, I thought it was due to 800+ files in the trash, however, I removed all but 5 photo files from the trash and it continues to lock up.  Inititally the "progress" bar would get to about 1/2 way and then it would stop and stall.  However, now the progress bar no longer shows a progress line it immediately freezes and locks up. Can anyone help?

    You may have damaged the library - Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library
