iphoto slideshow tries to read music videos in itues... It appears that i have music videos in my itunes music library, and when I try to start building a slide show in iphoto. Iphoto first looks a the music libary and hangs up trying to play music videos.
Can anyone shed any light on this behavior of Slideshow

IPhoto slideshow that uses registered music

I have created a slideshow on iPhoto, I was allowed to utilize the music i have stored in my iTunes library. When i went to export the slide show, I was told that I could export just the photos and the music that isn't registered to an actual artist. My question is:
Is there a way to export the iPhoto slideshow including the registered music?
If so, how?
I imported the slideshow to iMovie instead, but can't seem to insert the music I had from the original slideshow. How do I do that in iMovie?

What kind of song are you using?
If your song has been bought from the iTunes Store and is in the older "Protected AAC audio file" format you cannot use the file to render a video or bounce a new song with GarageBand, because that would remove the protection.
Check the "kind" in iTunes in the "Info" panel for the song, in the "File" tab.
If you have backed up your songs to CD by burning a playlist to CD, try if the backed up CD versions of your songs can be used. Sometimes that works.

Since upgrading to OSx 10.9, I cannot place my music for iPhoto slideshows. The only music that works is the Sample and Theme music that comes with iPhoto. Any idea of what to do about this problem?

In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
Then quit and restart iPhoto.

Goes back to home screen after 2 seconds of trying to load music, videos or even iTunes

This happened awhile ago when trying to download the new Software for it (4.2), but wouldn't let me and stuck with Software 2.2.1. I put my music back on it and worked fine. Till I tried to open Music, Video or iTunes App on the iPod.
Anyways I gave up on it and didn't care till now. I've restored it (Power+Home Button) and tried Erase All Content and Settings. Still doesn't work no matter what I do. I can't restore it from iTunes because it tries to update it and that won't work.

The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Iphoto Slideshow Won't Assign Music

Ive searched the forums and tried all the reponses, but nothing has worked. I created a slideshow in iphoto (with most up to date software update). When I click to assign music, it will allow itunes to come up. I pick my music (from itunes), click ok. When I go to view the slideshow, no music. My older slideshow's will play music and even assign new music. What am I doing wrong here?

Hi, I'm just playing with my slideshow music uploads also. I'm just wondering and it may seem odd to ask but do you need to check your sound preferences or volume button to hear the music. Not sure I've assisted, my issue is around how to attach various different songs from my itunes to my one slideshow. I can attach and play the music but cannot as yet work out how to add several. IPhoto slideshow using mini-dvi to video adapter

When using the mini-dvi to video adapter to connect to my widescreen tv (via composite), to show iPhoto slideshows, the transistions between slides dont apear and there are no ken burns effects. The slideshow runs fine on my MacBook display (ie when not conected to the tv), and the is no other distortion or flickering (as reported in other threads), this seems odd to me or is it just a limitation of analogue output.

It means that the issue resides in your existing Library.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Error message when trying to sync music video

I just got my new 80 GB iPod to finally work (another story there) but when it started to sync, I got a message that said it couldn't copy the one music video I purchased off of iTunes onto the iPod because it can't play on the iPod. I have the iPod classic, 80 GB video iPod.
What's the problem?

Unfortunately, I don't think any of those solutions will work. The video won't play on my computer either, but I think that's because I don't have Quicken, or whatever is needed to watch videos from iTunes. Maybe that's what I need to do? Download the appropriate software to play the video on my computer?

Trying to play Music Videos and screen goes grey

My music videos worked yesterday and this morning I go and hit play and there is no sound and the screen goes grey.

The DW site should have instructions to create a bootable partition with DW. It sounds like your CD might be bad and if that's the case you won't be able to create a recovery drive.
I suggest you use the Recovery Drive that is installed by Lion. Hold down Command R when restarting your computer. This will boot you into the recovery drive.

Trying to download music video to nano

i bought a music video and it will not show up or copy to my music video file can nano 2nd generation view music videos?

the 2nd gen nano does not support any video content including music videos, tv shows, movies, or video podcasts. It never has supported video, THe music video playlist you see on your nano is there by default because the playlist is was created in itunes by default. Simply delete this playlist in itunes for it not to appear on the nano. Then you wont be confused anymore. Only the new 3rd gen nano supports video. If you want video buy the new nano. Any hacks for the ipod will void your warranty and possibly brick it too. Dont use hacks!

IPhoto slideshow - how to mute all videos?

I've put together an iPhoto 11 slideshow to be displayed during a party. This includes photos and videos. However, since this is really a background type thing, rather than the focus of the party, I don't want the audio from the videos to be audible (especially since they'll inevitably be played several times during the party). I'm using the same Mac to play music via iTunes, which of course I do want to be audible.
So far I can't find any way to avoid the video audio coming through and interfering with the music. Even if I adjust the video of the clips in iPhoto, it doesn't seem to remember this setting and goes back to full volume as soon as I switch to another clip.
Since iTunes and iPhoto both use the same sound device as selected in System Preferences, how can I make this work?
Note that I don't want to use the iPhoto music features, as I'll be controlling iTunes remotely via my iPod
So far it seems my only option may be to use the iPod stand-alone to supply the music, but this will be a major pain as I'll have to keep running back to the DJ booth to select tracks etc.
Any tips are most welcome!

In the end I had to use a free app called MPEG Streamclip to remove the audio. Even this was more complicated than I'd like, as I had to re-encode the files into a format chosen in the settings (ie rather than keep it the same as the source files by default). So, I'm not sure if the files are as optimal as they could be. One of the files wouldn't work like this, and I had to do it by exporting it as a one-movie slideshow. This took an incredibly long time, I it's a good job I didn't do this for all 15 video clips I have! Anyway the end result was what I was after...
....except....
I now seem to have a more fundamental problem. All the videos seem to play back very jerkily when in full screen or slideshow mode, compared to the standard iPhoto album view (ie the mode when you double-click a thumbnail and then hit play). This is true both for the non-audio files and the original un-modified ones!
I don't know what's causing this, especially on a Macbook 2.4GHz with 4GB RAM and a hybrid SSD/7200 rpm HD, and after a fresh reboot with no other apps running!!
Any ideas of what I can do to improve the playback?

IPhoto Slideshow using iTunes purchased music publish to .Mac

I created a slideshow which used a song which I purchased through the music store. I exported this and uploaded it to .mac. If I view this web page on a another computer beside my mac it wants it to be authorized.
I thought when I purchase music I could use it in iPhoto and iMovie. Why is it forcing me to authorize all computers.
How am I suppose to share this slideshow/movie with my friends and family. I am all for DRM when it comes to protecting music but now I can not use the song except on my mac or computers I authorize (Which is limited to 5). I think this is a bit unfair.

It's a shame isn't it. You need to do a little sneaky work around by first burning the tune to cd (while you are at it, burn a bunch of others that you might want to use in a slideshow. Import the burned cd back into iTunes. Click on date added column so you can see the DRM-less tunes you just imported. Rename those tunes so you know those are the ones without the DRM and then use those tunes in your slideshows.
by the way, you can use them in iMovie if you are then sending those iMovies to burn within iDVD. You will run into the problem if you export the iMovie to quicktime.

I'm getting this error when trying to play music videos I bought in iTunes. "The music video " "could not be found. Would you like to locate it?

I bought the videos on my old MacBook. I transferred everything to my new MacBook Pro when I bought it. I'm not sure if they didn't transfer correctly or not. Does anybody know how to relocate the files?

What happens when you drag and drop the file onto iTunes?
You could also try to redownload it through iTunes.

ITunes music for iPhoto Slideshow

Not able to use files from iTunes for iPhoto Slideshow. Only SAMPLE MUSIC. This is the message that I get > iTunes The song "The Sad Cafe" could not be used because the original file could not be located.

Have you checked, if the song plays correctly, when you try to play the song "The Sad Cafe" in iTunes? If you see an exclamation point besides the song, you need to reconnect that dead track to the original file. When you try to playy the song, iTunes should prompt you for the location of the song. Use the File Chooser window, that will pop up, to search for the file and select it.
Then try again to use the song in your slideshow.
