IPhoto slideshow with descriptions?

How do I make an iPhoto slideshow with descriptions?

This helped along with changing how I was creating the slideshow. My original approach was the select "new slideshow" from the File Menu and then drag individual images to the slideshow folder. This is what didn't work for me.
I then tried selecting a bunch of images in an event then selected "new slideshow" from the File Menu, This resulted in a slideshow where I could shuffle the slide order in the image bar at the top. I don't know which step provided the solution, or whether it was the combination - I suspect the combination.
Thanks for your interest and help - much appreciated.

  • Will  an iPhoto slideshow with music work on all computers in China?

I am making a promotional DVD for an education program in the US, and taking it to China to education fairs. If it is an iPhoto slideshow with music, will it work on all Chinese computers? I assume so, because since it is not video, I should not have to worry about different formats-right? I've got enough to worry about on this trip!

On every single computer in China? Impossible to tell. But if you create a slideshow in iPhoto and send it to iDVD to be burned to a DVD then it will play on anything that plays DVD.

  • Is it possible to publish an iPhoto slideshow with the music?

Is it possible to publish a slideshow with music so others can hear the music as well as see the photos? Thanks. (I have a MobileMe account).

An alternative method to put the slideshow up for others to view is to import the QT movie back into iPhoto and put it in a MobileMe gallery and publish.
If the movie is large still another alternative is to import the movie into iMovie and share it from there to a MMe account where you can select multiple sizes so those with slower internet connections can choose a smaller version to play. The following screenshot is the export window from iMovie:
*+NOTE: This screenshot is from the iLife 09 iMovie. I don't remember if the iLife 08 iMovie has the same export options.+*
What you will get is this type of MMe gallery: iMovie 09 to MMe.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Creating DVD from iPhoto Slideshow with music

I'm trying to create a DVD of a slideshow with music that was created previously in iPhoto and then "Shared with iDVD". The .m4v file located in Pictures> iPhoto Slideshows is not accessible in iDVD. The only way I can make it work is to spend the hour or so required to start from scratch by clicking "Share with iDVD" from an open iPhoto slideshow, thus creating a .m4v file and then going directly to the iDVD menu that's automatically opened at the end of the "Share with iDVD" process. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forums.
When I'm going from iPhoto to iDVD with a slideshow, I get good results by Exporting from iPhoto to a large-sized Quicktime movie. I can preview the video and music, and if I'm happy, I can then just drop the Quicktime file onto the iDVD menu area (not into a drop zone, that's just eye candy). It's been a reliable process for me.

  • ATV iPhoto Slideshow with/Music

    Hi-
I recently purchased an Apple TV to show my iPhoto slideshows on my flat-screen TV. I am a wedding photographer and use the slideshows as part of my presentation to potential clients. These slideshows have music playing in the background and in iPhoto the music is set to loop until all of the pictures have been displayed. Unfortunately on my Apple TV the song plays once and then stops, for some reason it is not looping in the ATV as it does on iPhoto. I called Apple support and was told that is how it works. I find it hard to believe the that the ATV would display the slideshow different than how I have it setup on iPhoto. Anyone else experience this?
    Alex

That's odd, I'm able to loop a single song to my photo slide shows on my tv.  You can do this by creating a playlist in itunes on your computer that contains the song you want to loop.  Sync your playlist back to your tv.  Go to Photos from the tv menu and select Slide Show Preferences > Music, select the playlist that you just created in itunes with your song of interest for looping.   Back out of the music menu to Slide Show Preferences and set Repeat to "On" below the music menu.

  • IPhoto Slideshow with Music to MobileMe

Is it possible to upload a slideshow with music background to MobileMe, so that the music selected in for the slideshow also plays in MobileMe?

You need to export the slideshow as a QuickTime movie and then upload that to MobileMe. And you need the permissions from the copyright owners for the music, of course.

  • Is it possible to create an iPhoto slideshow with a menu for each child?

I want the DVD to open with three photos: Karen's, Lori's and Amy's.
When Karen clicks her photo, three more of her photos will appear: a baby photo, a school-age photo, and an adult photo. If she wants to watch a slideshow of her baby pictures, she will click the baby photo...
Each daughter will have a similar setup - three slideshows for each of them. I'm not very picky about which theme will do the job.
I have checked two books and the Apple tutorial and can't find a similar example.
This is only my second slideshow. Any help will be appreciated!
Flat Panel iMac (still love it) w/superdrive   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   iLife'06, 512 mb ram, 200 GB and 250 GB hard drives, wireless network

    Yes this can be done.
First create the 9 slideshows you need in iPhoto......for each one, when finished use the "Send to iDVD" to create a QT movie of each slideshow......be sure to pick the music/playlist in iPhoto (unless you want to use iMovie for that and other things...). When iDVD opens, just close it without saving.
Then open iDVD and choose a menu. As an example, choose "Portfolio Color". Retitle it to "Daughters" or whatever you want.
Then click on the "+" sign at the lower left, and choose "add submenu" -do this two more times yo get three folders. Then click on the media button, and choose three photos to use as a button instead of the folder. Just drag each photo onto the folder. Rename each submenu to Karen, Lori and Amy. Click once on the text, wait, then click again and edit.
Then double click on one submenu. Drag in the correct three iPhoto movies you exported using the "Send to iDVD" command. By default, they go to your home directory in the Movies folder. You can also find them using the Media tab in iDVD and look for Movies.
Go back to the "Main" menu using the back arrow (double click on it).
Repeat for the other two submenus.
    Hope this helps,

  • Audio problems sharing iphoto slideshow with iDVD

I have created a slideshow of 200 photos and 4 random tracks from itunes.
It plays fine in iphoto. When I share it with iDVD and a .mov file is created only the first Track of audio plays both in preview and from a disk image. The rest is silence. The slideshow is set to match the display time to the total audio and this remains the same. I've tried removing the encoding and the itunes helper plist. Any other thoughts?

If you have Garage Band - make one track with the four songs/tracks and save in iTunes and use that track for iPhoto - just did that and worked great -

  • '08 iphoto slideshow with music

I am making a slideshow for my parents' 50th anniversary in '08 iPhoto. I created a playlist in my iTunes and clicked on the Anniversary playlist in Music for my slideshow. I see the 4 songs in my playlist but it continues to play one song over and over. How do I get it to play the next 3 songs in my playlist as well? Thanks!

I use Audacity www.audacity.com to make one track to play along with slideshows. It's a free ausio editing app - you can use only parts of the songs, create crossfades, and do a whole lot of other stuff if you're interested.
But to answer the question you asked...I think you can hold the shift key to select multiple tracks within a playlist. In other words, when you click a playlist, you have to choose a track to go with the slideshow. Using the shift key allows you to select more than one song.

  • Export iPHOTO slideshow with ken Burns affects

Is there any way to create a slideshow in iPhoto with Ken Burns affects default dissolve between slides and then export it into FCX?

the audio associated with that set of photos was a piece of music off of an audio CD that had been transferred to iTunes for the purpose of making this section in the DVD. It's not a big problem that the music didn't transfer, since I can add it back into FCX. Thank you so much for your concern and help. This was a very key bit of info that you provided me. Thanks again. bill

  • Using iPhoto slideshows with Apple TV

I am unable to get a slideshow I made in iPhoto 08 to sync to Apple TV. I imported it into iTunes, and it plays fine from there, but the menu pick to allow it to be formatted for Apple TV is grayed out. I would appreciate help in getting this to work.
    Thanks -
    Dudley Warner

Hello, I don't have any of those things, but...
    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • Uploading an iPhoto Slideshow with Music

I just spent a bunch of time designing a photo slideshow from my daughter's birthday party, complete with synchronized music, and I was hoping to post it on .mac so that I could simply invite others to view it on the web. Now that it's finally finished, though, I can't figure out how to upload it. Do I need to burn it to disc in order to share it? Can I share it on .mac, or do I need to use something like YouTube? I'm a total novice here, so any guidance, not to mention concrete instructions, would be appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks, Terence! One of the best things about switching to a Mac, for me, has been discovering the amazing community of people out there who are so smart and capable and willing to help the newbies. I never feel frustrated and alone like in the old PC days....

  • IPhoto slideshow with iTunes playlist

I have created a playlist in iTunes, adding 3 songs from the library. I have also created a slideshow in iPhoto and in settings I have selected the playlist I created for this event. However, when I play the slideshow it plays a sample song unless I select a specific song in the created playlist. And, it only plays one of the 3 songs I added.
I tried another computer, same results. We are a school but are not on the network for this work. iTunes is fully updated as is iPhoto.

Yes, they are all MP3. I tried other songs also on another computer and I had the same results. At this point I will burn a CD for the teacher to play during the slide show (it is an end of the year presentation for parents.) Not the result I want, but I cannot find any answers for this issue.
Please don't give up finding out the answer! I appreciate any input and am willing to try all options.

  • Burn iphoto slideshow with music to dvdr

I am having trouble burning a slideshow to a DVD. Can this be done?

    Yes.
But what are you trying to do, exactly?
Burn a DVD that you can play on your domestic DVD player? If so, you need to use the Share -> Send to iDVD as only iDVD can make such a disk
Just back up a Slideshow to a Disk? Then export it as a QuickTime movie and burn that with the FInder.

  • Iphoto/slideshow/idvd

Has anyone burned an elaborate iphoto slideshow with success? I spent alot of time putting together 239 slides into a great 30 min. iphoto slideshow (with transitions, pans and audio) and am so so frustrated to have just spent 4 days trying to figure out how to burn it. After reading all the relevant posts & chats I've tried numerous lengthy attempts including: 'share-send to idvd, /also export as a movie to burn in Toast', / also tried making a disc images first/also imported as quicktime movie into imovie (in standard mode). No matter what, the audio seems gets out of sync with the slides and the photo quality weakens as well. And it's not consistent from one attempt to another.
The slideshow is scheduled for a 3 month international tour starting next month. I'll be up the creek if I can't get this burnt real soon.
Any feedback ??? I'd love not to switch from mac.
    val
PS In idvd attemptS, I've avoided the themes, which I don't want, by dragging the iphoto slideshow( as a movie) into the first map box (which makes the dvd open on insert.)
    Iphoto 6.06/ Idvd 6.04/ Powerbook G4

Try one of these. They both specialize in slideshows:
